I thought remix OS is optimized for x86 devices, netbooks to be precise. Well I have a Sony Vaio vgn p23g. 1.6 dual core atom, 1gb ram, 60gb hdd. I cant barely use remix in this laptop. Whenever I see memory boost it does not takes up the whole ram. Cant open apps and lags when opening settings. I installed remix on my C drive together with win XP. I am using remix os 32 bit. Oh and also i cant set a wallpaper its just black. Help please? Does remix has minimum system requirements?

I'm trying to install ubuntu 12.04 on virtualbox but it seems to be running very slow! I don't have a slow computer so I don't understand why its running so slow. I put for it to take up 50 GB and use 1024 MB of ram. I have 4 GB of ram in total and 237 GB of free space. Is there a special way to install it? Also when I choose Ubuntu 64 bit (because I have a 64 bit computer) and than start the vm it shows an error saying I don't have the correct kernel and I need to install x86 bit or x32 bit so thats what im using. Any help would be very appreciated. I also am not a noob at this so please dont call me that. Thanks.

It would be slow because you running a 64bit OS with 1GB of RAM, you really should use the 32bit version, it dosnt matter what OS your running as your host OS, thats the whole point of virtualisation you can run either

1GB should me move than enough, how much CPU time are you giving it? and have you enabled 2D/3D graphics in virtualboxes settings?

By cpu time do you mean how long its taking me? Its taken me like 1 hour just to get from the start of the vm to actually installing the files. It took like 20 min to boot up. And 30 min just to finish copying the files. And no i do not have the 3d and 2d accelerator enabled.

No I meant how much of the CPU are you giving to the virtualmachine to use (i.e 50% of the time etc) and you should enabled 3/2D acceleration as I have always found it gives a big speed boost as it takes away the GUI load from the CPU, unless you have a really poor graphics card

No not really which is why it sounds like the not enough CPU time it being giving to the virtual machine, I believe these settings are found in the system section of the settings for that virtual machine but I have not used virtualbox for a while so cant be sure. But you need to give it really atleast half maybe more if you dont plan on doing most in the host OS while the virtual machine is running

I think its called execution cap on system->processor because of the description. Im going to set it to 60% and see what it does.
EDIT: Still no good. I also cant find anything that has CPU time in it.
I've been looking around and i've noticed others are having problems with 12.04. I will try another version (9.04) and I will update on how it runs.
EDIT: I installed 9.04 and it ran perfectly fine with half the settings I used for 12.04. But sadly it cannot install git-core which is what im going for. Im going to try 10.10 now.

Latest Ubuntu comes with the Unity UI which is very graphically intense.
You have two quick options:
- kill the Unity UI (can be disabled during boot/login screen)
- attempt to get the guest tools installed inside Ubuntu so it can tap into the power of the host PC's GPU/graphics card.
I'd try installing the guest tools in Ubuntu, it's usually either easy and a success, or a pointless nightmare.
To kill Unity UI just google for it with the exact version of Ubuntu you've got and the results should be plentiful. It's a common complaint with the latest version.

About 18 months ago I tried to install Androidx86 directly onto my sole laptopn, an Acer Aspire 1410 (2011 I think), single core netbook, but a decent one at that.
I'm pretty dran good at making/breaking things, but this time I screwed up and lost my Windows OS, with Android never working. Then life's dramas took over, and fixing it became low-priority.
But I needed a laptop again and, right on time, Remix OS drops, and right now I have my old faithful laptop back, running my favourite OS (I really just do not need Windows anymore).
Sadly, I'm limited to running it off USB2, and I've not found a clever way of installing it to the HDD without an initial copy of Windows to work off.
Use Universal USB Formatter with a non-Linux installation method install to local drive then use rmxtools to expand the data image to whatever size you want. Then you Acer boot to RMX OS.

Hello everyone, I have a HP spectre x360 with an i5 6200u, I have installed RemixOS 64bit on a partition and I tried Asphalt 8 , I saw around that should be running ok , but on my machine is not, the graphic is extremely slow, even if the LCD is actually 1920x1080 it should have any problem performance side, ram is ok , 8gb at this rate should be ok for the nex 2 android releases , RemixOS runs andord 4.4.x with is completly ok on my machine (wich is running ubuntu 16.04).
Any idea?
Hi, I've tried running Remix OS off a USB stick on a pretty rubbish old emachines laptop with an AMD Athlon 2650e and a Mobility Radeon X1200. I get constant flickering and black triangles all over the screen. I get no issues if I boot with nomodeset but it is extremely low res and laggy. Any ideas on how to fix this? Cheers.
Yeah...no. Jide considers PCs as having Intel only hardware: Intel CPU and Intel graphics.
NVidia and AMD are not Intel so they are not PCs - so no support.
Really it should be called "Remix OS for old Intel laptops" instead of "Remix OS for PC".

Unfortunately, you're going to have to use nomodeset for the time being until more drivers are added to Remix OS.

But let's be complete in this answer. Using nomodeset when not having an integrated graphics card means CPU overheat as every simple and singular animation on the screen will be rendered by the CPU. Even if you have the best Intel Core i7 with Hyperthreading technology and latest overclocking ASUS or MSI gaming motherboards - it will be of no use. Your system will crawl while running Remix OS and the CPU will overheat.
Do not take lightly the overheat issue. I almost fried my CPU because I left it update all my Android apps with the Google Play Store on the screen. Remember all those download animations in the Google Play Store app while updating? Yeah...my CPU was screaming at 70-80 degrees for about 10 minutes. 10 minutes while updating 5 apps - because WiFi is also a ***** in Remix OS. Enjoy...

With a crappy Athlon processor using nomodeset seemed like everything was running at less than a frame per second. The thing gets hot enough as it is. I've tried Chromium, Remix and Android x86 and every one has the same graphics issue. Guess I'll have to go back to something like Linux lite. Even that manages to lag.

As I said before, go buy a Chromebook. It's cheap as a very old second-hand laptop and it works great. You will soon get Android Play Store so you'll be able to run all your favorite Android apps. Plus you will get guaranteed quality and an officially supported Google device. Throw away your old PC - you don't need it anymore. There's nothing to justify keeping it around. With Remix OS you'll always run into hardware issues. Get a new, cheap, properly supported device. 200 EUR for a new, good looking, fully supported and that will soon have all Android Play Store - what are you waiting for?
EDIT: sorry if that sounded like a bad and cheap commercial. It's just that I don't understand the need for a hacked, lacking, limited Remix OS when we have the official Google supported solution: Chromebooks.
Hello friends !
I have an acer aspire 4710 laptop with the following specifications:
CPU: intel core 2 due T7200
GPU: Intel GMA 950
Ram: 2GB DDR2
And I had installed Remix OS on it.
But recently, due to a blow to his monitor, the screen is completely disabled. And when I connect the monitor separately from the VGA port, nothing but a black screen can be seen. I have this problem in Linux too, but I solve it by pressing the Super+P key.
Is there a way I can set the VGA port as the primary monitor?
Of course, I should add that the operating system boots completely and I see the wireless light flashing (before the monitor crashed when the light was flashing, remix os was fully booted).
Sorry for my poor English. my language is Persian.
