With Marshmallow and previous version of Android, you had to root and flash a custom kernel in order to tweak RGB settings on your phone to eliminate the "warm" or "red" hue that many of these Nexus phones have. For the past year or so, this was the only reason I ever bothered rooting.
However, that's all changed with Android N. Google has FINALLY baked an RGB tuner into the stock system, allowing you to adjust the screen color to your liking.
To enable this you simply have to unlock "System UI Tuner" by pulling your quick settings drawer down and long pressing the little gear icon in the top right. Once you do this, it should automatically open Settings and show you the new System UI Tuner option. Once that's done just navigate to System UI Tuner / Color and appearance / Calibrate display. At this point you can drag the 3 bars however you want to tweak the RGB values. *Note, changes won't go live until you hit "Apply"*
Now, this isn't as intuitive as adjusting RGB values with custom kernels and kernel tweaking apps because you can't actually see the true RGB numbers. So you have to kind of just drag, test, drag, test etc. until you get it to your liking. With that said, I've spent some time tweaking mine to mirror the display color tones of my LG G5. To me, it makes the whites a pure white without being too blue and eliminates the warm hue my phone had from the factory.
Here's a screenshot of my setup:

I agree I think this is amazing. Look at all the devices returned and all it would take is a slight adjustment and they would be happy. These displays are top quality they just weren't calibrated perfectly and it's all preference but with this people can set the display up perfectly to satisfy themselves. Here's where I'm at right now just slightly adjusted to get a little whiter whites.

There is not. Here's the screenshot. Only Night Mode exists now. Dark Theme option no longer exists.
And that would be removed in the final build as per reports.
Yep. I'm extremely annoyed that Google felt the need to remove this feature. RGB tweaking is the only reason why I root. I'm still holding out hope that Google will bring it back in the final release.
So, I set all of them to 0. Is there any way I can fix that? Phone screen is all black :/

She is a beauty. I think I might install this
Edit: Haha and as soon as I install it, I return to the thread and see a new version. I will update it now
EDIT 2:
I don't know if I am allowed to bump, so I chose to just do a second edit.
With version 1.1, this theme is nice. I have no complaints and it fits pretty well with the general feel of my phone so far. I will note that I am using a lower screen density (220) instead of the normal (240), but even with that change I have no issues. The theme looks as intended. Once you fix the Notification pull down title colors, this theme should be perfect
I do have one gripe though. Maybe it is just something that will only bother me. I don't like that it says 3G instead of H+ when it was showing H+ on kennethpenn's beta 4.5 before. If you could make it say either 4G or H+ (assuming that I am actually getting 4G/H+), I would be quite pleased.
I can change it to an H icon in the next update.
I'm also changing more of the Moto blue images.
Should have an update up tonite.
Nice

The upcoming changes sound nice, I will be sure to get the next update. Once the notification section headers are fixed, this theme will be AWESOME. Any chance of you doing alternate color schemes or is this more of something you wanted personally?
EDIT: Noticed one thing that you missed. At first, I thought it was just related to the keyboard. But if you move the cursor during text input, the arrow that pops up to easily drag the cursor has a blue outline.

Don't think so, I'm hoping somebody releases a full AOSP rom and not just a themed MotoBlur. Theming Moto's setup is a real pain.
Looks wonderful. Glad to have this theme, thank you.
I am hoping for an AOSP ROM as well (Heck, I'm sure just about everyone is) but I find it a little disappointing that you don't intend on doing other color schemes. Not a big deal though, this is great!

I wish I had a GO SMS theme to match this. If anyone would be willing to make one, it would be AMAZING. This is my first time trying to completely theme out my Android and all of the GoSMS themes are either too colorful to go well with this or have a grey title bar instead of black (see "dark theme")
or if anyone knows of a way to just change those bars, that would be more than adequate

*I have also found that in the Gallery app, there is a filmstrip mode that is found by pinching out of a picture. When in filmstrip mode, you can now use a swipe to delete the image & then immediately undo the deletion just like when you swipe to archive or delete email in Gmail.
*The play store now displays how much time is left until an app install is complete.

What do I know. Been using PA with Sony's album app myself.
Looks like you can long press bluetooth/wifi statusbar buttons to toggle them now, without having to actually jump into settings.
Is the wallpaper chooser different? More compact and quicker access... I actually haven't spent too much time on 4.2.1 - and it was mostly PA.
But, did we always have a libgoggles_clientvision.so? I think not.. Looks like they're setting up for it.

EDIT: I just realized how dumb I sounded.. scratch the above comments - goggles, not project glass - and the wallpaper chooser seems no different.
My N10 seems... snappier, but this could be placebo. Memory usage is around 500MB currently, which is extremely lower than I'm used to (but then again, this is on a clean factory install).
I'll go install all my apps and then see what happens

So it appears that I have less RAM available (around 1.2GB usable, whereas before on 4.2.1 I had 1.6GB, on custom ROM anyway). Memory usage is still around 400-500MB idle for me though.
There seem to be quite a few security fixes too (including one where you cannot activate USB Debugging unless you're the primary user... nice... )
Best one I think is a fix due for a vulnerability (exploit !!!) of the Exynos discovered in those very XDA forums by alephzain on the S3.

It was mentioned on a changelog somewhere that Google reserved an extra 380 some MB for the GPU, something along the lines of it being able to fragment userspace RAM before when the GPU needed extra memory.

If you want your lockscreen to look like the screenshot, you'll have to go to Settings - Interface - Lock screen and make adjustments in there. I haven't tried it, so there may be another area you need to modify. You'll need to make sure "Screen Security - Show slider before secure unlock" is on and I suspect that you'll also need to modify notification drawer to have the row of icons above the carousel.

Hi, everyone. I've been searching for an answer for this unsuccessfully, so forgive me if someone else has asked and answered.
I have a stock rooted (bootloader unlocked) LGE Nexus 5X. I absolutely HATE the solid white icons in the status bar in Marshmallow. I miss the original full color icons from older versions of Android. I'm not a fan of the status bar changing colors with the apps either.
Is there a way to restore the ability of apps to display their original full (multi) color icons in the status bar? Third party replacement status bars, root access, Xposed modules, etc., are all acceptable solutions.
Thanks!

I was hoping someone else had already done this in a nice easy Xposed module. I can't be the only person who hates these solid white icons that strip all detail that makes them easily identifiable. I honestly thought this would be a common complaint about Marshmallow.
Are there themes that restore apps ability to display full color icons? If so, I don't know where to begin. I've never been interested in themes before.

You need a rom that supports themes. To be honest alot of people like the MD (Dont ask me why) Also as for xposed I cant say as most developers are not a fan of xposed and most custom roms dont offer support for it and advise not to use it.

They are just not following googles guidelines. The stock icons are all white. All you have to do is rip open the the frameworks files to see. There is also a color overlay that google uses to turn all icons white if coded properly.

BTW, thanks for all the feedback on this.
If I want to tinker with this (modifying the frameworks, etc.), can you guide me as to where to begin? I do have old AOSP source on one of my VMs on my PC, and I can always use git to bring it up-to-date. For instance, the location of this overlay that turns all icons white would be a GREAT place for me to start. I have compiled AOSP before, so I'm not afraid to do it, but it may take me a while to get my build environment setup again.
No problem. Depending on the device and the rom you run depends on where it will be. Most of the icons are in the framework res and system ui but you will also have to find the color overlay on the xmls. Not really sure where as with LP and Mm I walked away from theming.
@zelendel do you know where in mm this code resides. making a custom rom and wanting to undo this "fix" that google has implemented.......
Hi! You are not alone. I would kill Google designer. This looks like a big unbelievable non-sense: good hardware, stable and well-featured software and such perverted and mutilated UI. If everyone forgot how human-oriented icons should look like, I will remind:
I HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY and the all-white icons are driving me crazy. INEED THE COLORS BACK so I can tell one bit of innformation from another. Right now, everything looks like one white splotch. I WANT MY COLORS BACK!!

A full black theme with all backgrounds being black color, such as dialer, notification panel, basically a system wide black theme.
And I need to increase the font size. I was at the store and I saw that the XL font size in settings did not result in very large text.
I want to buy this phone, but without the above, the phone is useless to me.
Can anyone help clarify the above for me please?
Thanks
Mir

Thanks for the info re; large text size.
Re: themes, are there any black themes that come with the device, or will I have to find the themes online?
EDIT: Another question I have regarding this device, and EMUI in general is the background color of the navigation bar at the bottom. I noticed that the color would change based on the application in focus which is extremely annoying to me as a visually impaired user. Is there a way to permanently set it to one solid color (black color with no transparency)?
Thank you.
I'm using this theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emuithemesfactory.darkmodeforemui5&hl=fr
who works like a charm and it's nearly perfect except in some Huawei apps (Huawei account and theme app), I contacted the dev who answered me that it will be an update during this week :fingers-crossed:
Again there is a default themes app that has plenty of dark themes and emui is very customizable,

For this issue you can hide the notch for all apps or just choose which in particular

What you are talking about is the status bar, I was talking about the Navigation bar on the bottom, the home key/back key/recent apps bar.
I also have another question. Does changing the text size in Display settings also increase the text size of text in the notification panel where you have all the quick settings toggles like WIFI, GPS, and notifications from applications, etc?
Oh ok ^^ for the bottom navigation bar I don't think there is a built-in option but maybe a theme with that function exists
I also tried to change the display setting but it didn't increased or decreased the size of the quick settings

I looked at some themes and it might be possible that they can achieve what I want to do with regards to the navigation bar.
Thank you very much for your help. Much appreciated. =)

Another question. I just saw a review of the brand new P20 Pro which has just been released.
In Settings -> Battery, there is an option called "Darken Interface Colors" which basically sets a system wide dark theme.
Does this option exist in the Honor 8x?
Thank you.
You mean mate 20?, and no this option is not present on 8x thats not to say it won't be in emui 9.0 witch is what the mate 20 is running and P20 will be running if not already on beta emui 9.0

You should check the Accessibility options in Smart Assistance. After all, it's made for you. High Contrast Text can be pretty useful and the invert option can make everything black without resorting to themes, but everything will be inverted, including images and videos.
Font size and UI scaling is changeable and can be pretty gigantic if you max everything out.
Heres a screenshot I captured
im using p pro emui theme for the system and swift black substratum theme for apps
