For those really longing to read through the endless change log of the latest update. It has been published here: http://www.funkyandroid.com/aosp-JOP40C-JDQ39.html
Thanks to Funky Android for the find!
Post any new features you find!
*I have found that the animations are a bit more pronounced & they seem to be smoother & generally more uniform.
*I have also found that in the Gallery app, there is a filmstrip mode that is found by pinching out of a picture. When in filmstrip mode, you can now use a swipe to delete the image & then immediately undo the deletion just like when you swipe to archive or delete email in Gmail.
*The play store now displays how much time is left until an app install is complete.
lol aww come on now whats that?! lol

That was introduced way back in 4.0 I think. Definitely not new in 4.2.2!

What do I know. Been using PA with Sony's album app myself.
Looks like you can long press bluetooth/wifi statusbar buttons to toggle them now, without having to actually jump into settings.
Is the wallpaper chooser different? More compact and quicker access... I actually haven't spent too much time on 4.2.1 - and it was mostly PA.
But, did we always have a libgoggles_clientvision.so? I think not.. Looks like they're setting up for it.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: I just realized how dumb I sounded.. scratch the above comments - goggles, not project glass - and the wallpaper chooser seems no different.
My N10 seems... snappier, but this could be placebo. Memory usage is around 500MB currently, which is extremely lower than I'm used to (but then again, this is on a clean factory install).
I'll go install all my apps and then see what happens

So it appears that I have less RAM available (around 1.2GB usable, whereas before on 4.2.1 I had 1.6GB, on custom ROM anyway). Memory usage is still around 400-500MB idle for me though.
There seem to be quite a few security fixes too (including one where you cannot activate USB Debugging unless you're the primary user... nice... )
Best one I think is a fix due for a vulnerability (exploit !!!) of the Exynos discovered in those very XDA forums by alephzain on the S3.

Looking at the changelog, and specifically the comits to vold, it looks like nothing has changed regarding mounting external storage writable, all the crappy workarounds just to get read/write on a USB HDD is what's bugging me most.
Any word on if it helps those with random freezing?

It was mentioned on a changelog somewhere that Google reserved an extra 380 some MB for the GPU, something along the lines of it being able to fragment userspace RAM before when the GPU needed extra memory.

No freezes whatsoever in 63 hours uptime on 4.2.2, browsing only with Chrome.
Android 4.2.2 seems more buttery to me. Memory usage is also lower, even without a full wipe.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying it now. Only thing that looks out of place not mentioned above is the screen rotation for videos. I know it will probably dealt with in the near future. So I'm not complaining. Just letting others know just in case they have the same thoughts about it. It is in portrait instead of landscape when I would like to go "full" screen in youtube and video players. Other than that it feels smoother overall than the EB builds lately. Awesome work Krylon360!
This is awesome! Thank you so much

It says hw accel works. does that mean opengl for games etc, but not the UI? I believe it means for just games etc but wanted to confirm
UI is accelerated. OpenGL is enabled. Working on other stuff as we speak. Hope to have flash working tonight then I can concentrate on completing the port of OMAP_ENHANCEMENT.

Not sure what you mean by this. Youtube operates how its supposed to for me...I'll look into it though.
Thanks for making this available. I read on rootz thread about adjusting the width of the navigation bar if the buttons bunch up in the corner. I have tried that adjustment, but still have that issue in most apps. Should I try more settings? Thanks, I am on the latest build.

I fixed it. I had to wipe the rotation data in recovery and all is well. Thanks Krylon360 for the solid build! My nook feels like it ate buttah and its all smooth inside now. lol.
Excellent work! I just flashed this on top of the latest Mirage rom. Took a couple restarts for everything to settle down (superuser didn't want to allow ROM Control at first), but things seem to be working as promised now.
On the homescreens though, space seems to be limited. The top and bottom of the homescreens are not accessible for widget placement, etc. I've tried a few different launchers but and looked through all the settings but no joy.
Would changing the DPI help?
late,
Coz
EDIT: odd....changing the horizontal and vertical margins in Trebuchet launcher had no effect, however, changing same for Apex resulted in more homescreen real estate.

Messing with this now. LOL @ the boot animation Gonna have to 'splain that one to the wife.
I changed the bootanimation with the stock ics one. Other than that this rom is the best that I have checked so far. Also, I haven't checked thoroughly but it seems that the stutter that plagues the music players in CM7 and CM9 is gone!
Moving this to development..
thanks Divine.

SOON™
You have made me vary curious young grasshopper. I must try me some.
The biggest issue for me with CM9 has been the battery life. With CM7 Mirage I can go all week without charging with moderate use. CM9 would drain just sitting there usually requiring a recharge every day.
Tried this out on an SD install. Aside from random lockups (known issue, I see) it's pretty nice. It's definitely not as fast as CM7, but pretty usable. Nice work! :good:

Tried the ROM today.. Oh my god, it's LAGGY! I don't know what could cause that on a CLEAN device with no programs installed other than ones included with the ROM, but dayum it lags VERY much. This has only happened to me with DextersJB 1.6, v1.7 runs unbelievably smooth and fast.
But this?

Wait, what? So the perfomance is bad because of that fling thing? I though fling referred to the home screen scrolling problem, which was present in DextersJB 1.6 when the screen didn't react to the finger scrolling motion... Sorry if I'm mistaken and bashed the ROM for no reason then
As its a port from an unrelated device I assume HW video decoding is not working ? Can you add to list on page 1 as working or not. Thanks and good luck on this one.
Eagerly waiting for v1.2
I believe there aren't any resize issues present? In DextersJB I faced an issue that the home screen layout is not correct and the left edge is going off-screen a bit + the top row overlays the search bar/all apps button in landscape mode there

It is good that you apologise at the end because this ROM is,on the contrary, VERY good. The only thing that needs taking care of, from the stand point of the end user, is the scrolling. Other than that, I have it on my device for week now and I am VERY happy. Better that Dexter's. Besides, if the other ROM is not going forward then why not support new developers.
Again, this is truly a great ROM. Can't wait to see the updates.

Google has just officially released the Google Now Launcher on the Play Store and made it compatible with all devices with Android v4.1 or Later, including Google Nexus devices and the Play Edition devices (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10, Galaxy S4 GPe, HTC One GPe, Moto G GPe, Xperia Z Ultra GPe and the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe). You can Now Install directly from the Play Store which is easier to get future updates.
GNL Key Features :
Google Now on your home screen - it's easier than ever to get just the right information at just the right time.
Just say "Ok Google" - when you're on your home screen, just say "Ok Google" to trigger voice input. Then say your search query. Or tell your phone what to do, like send a text message, get directions, or play a song.
Faster search - tap the search box and you can enter your query immediately.
Easy access to your favorite Google products and services, like Gmail, YouTube, and Maps.
Larger viewing area - the status and navigation bars are now translucent, so your wallpaper pops from every pixel, and is even visible when you expand your apps drawer (when supported by device).
Intuitive wallpaper picker - select any image that's stored on your device, or in the cloud. Position and preview your wallpaper before you set it.
If your device is not supported, you can try the APK link below.

Thanks! No graphical glitches! Seems this is N10 ready :victory:!

Sorry for that, I just added a Google Drive mirror
I honestly have no idea what they could have changed because the GoogleHome APK does next to nothing. All the code for the GEL is actually in the Google Search APK. All this GoogleHome.apk file does is provide a bridge to Google Search and give you the option of running the GEL. The reason the file is 12 MB is basically all the wallpapers that it includes. That's really it. I mean, obviously they changed *something*, but I'd be shocked if there were any performance improvements or bug fixes. Very strange indeed. Thanks for posting, nonetheless. It's always good to stay on top of the latest versions of stuff like this.

Well that's good, then. Who knows, maybe there is some kind of code in that APK other than being a bridge. We'll probably never know for sure. haha
From Reddit :
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/com...he_new_google_experience_launcher_gel/cdxfeho
This is completely misleading and even plain false.
This app is just a stub that has no code other than a few lines to call the real GEL which is inside the search app (which was not updated with KitKat). There are no code changes between this and v0.9, so the changelog seems to be pulled straight out of the rear.
You will gain literally nothing by installing it.

That is interesting. I wonder why it is working better for me. I will play for a day and see if it starts lagging like it did before. If not then the answer had to lie with a change in 4.4.1. Maybe a small code fix that improve performance. I will probably go back to another launcher anyway, but not until I test this well. Perhaps a framework tweak?

There's no code change. And even if there was, it'd only be to the invoker of the launcher code within search, which wouldn't do anything to speed up its actual operation.
Seems about the same to me.…
It is definitely getting better but it just is not smooth enough yet. Need to wait until it is officially pushed out I think.

KitKat 4.4.2
Will this work ok with KitKat version 4.4.2?
Feels faster for me too, but this also applies to chrome on 4.4.2 now. Especially when surfing porn-sites.
When I scroll pages it still seems slow. I am on a Note 10.1 2014 rooted but stock. When is scroll home pages they are bright for about a second then they dim to a normal brightness. It doesn't do this on my rooted S4 running 4.4.
Any tips on getting this to run more smoothly?

No lag in home screen or inside app drawer on 4.2.1. But app drawer open and close lag little bit.
Has anyone noticed that this update has borked the icon layout on manta?
Before I had 8 columns for icons all neatly laid out & spaced well, same for the dock.
But now I've only got 6 columns and it looks terrible!

Yeah the new search apk screwed up my N10 and N7 as well, I rolled back to the previous one hopefully it was a messup on their part and itll be fixed
One of the things that I found lacking with my Nexus Player was the ability to reboot straight from within Android. As such, I decided to write a small app which allows me to do just this. I have also added some other small features, such as Reboot to recovery, Reboot to bootloader and Shutdown. I hope that you find my app useful and I look forward to any feedback.

It would nice if there was kinda "Sleep" button (not sure if it's actually possible, but I think it should be).
And, also, how about "kill all background tasks"?

I'll look into it however I doubt that I will add an option to kill background tasks as I believe that Android does a good job by itself and closing the apps manually does more harm than good.
task kill is not necessary since Android 4.0, but I will echo the request for Sleep. It would be nice to make it Sleep just like any other Android phone.

I use Rebooter, but your app is much nicer looking. Any reason I should use yours over theirs?
Ummm, it looks much nicer ?

it's not my app, but I can tell you that this app looks very elegant and integrates with 5.x Lollipop Material design very well.
Looks good and is better then the built in reboot, Thanks.

Thank you for uploading the apk. I'll start to include an .apk in the main thread for future updates. I have fixed the compatibility issue and it should be available on the Play Store again in a couple of hours. On another note, would this interface be preferred as opposed to the current one?
With Marshmallow and previous version of Android, you had to root and flash a custom kernel in order to tweak RGB settings on your phone to eliminate the "warm" or "red" hue that many of these Nexus phones have. For the past year or so, this was the only reason I ever bothered rooting.
However, that's all changed with Android N. Google has FINALLY baked an RGB tuner into the stock system, allowing you to adjust the screen color to your liking.
To enable this you simply have to unlock "System UI Tuner" by pulling your quick settings drawer down and long pressing the little gear icon in the top right. Once you do this, it should automatically open Settings and show you the new System UI Tuner option. Once that's done just navigate to System UI Tuner / Color and appearance / Calibrate display. At this point you can drag the 3 bars however you want to tweak the RGB values. *Note, changes won't go live until you hit "Apply"*
Now, this isn't as intuitive as adjusting RGB values with custom kernels and kernel tweaking apps because you can't actually see the true RGB numbers. So you have to kind of just drag, test, drag, test etc. until you get it to your liking. With that said, I've spent some time tweaking mine to mirror the display color tones of my LG G5. To me, it makes the whites a pure white without being too blue and eliminates the warm hue my phone had from the factory.
Here's a screenshot of my setup:

I agree I think this is amazing. Look at all the devices returned and all it would take is a slight adjustment and they would be happy. These displays are top quality they just weren't calibrated perfectly and it's all preference but with this people can set the display up perfectly to satisfy themselves. Here's where I'm at right now just slightly adjusted to get a little whiter whites.

Good to hear!
I don't see this in N DP3. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm not seeing it either in DP3.
This has been removed alongwith Dark Theme.

Dark theme is still in dp3, but the ability to automate it is gone, it's in the quick settings menu.

There is not. Here's the screenshot. Only Night Mode exists now. Dark Theme option no longer exists.
And that would be removed in the final build as per reports.
Yep. I'm extremely annoyed that Google felt the need to remove this feature. RGB tweaking is the only reason why I root. I'm still holding out hope that Google will bring it back in the final release.
So, I set all of them to 0. Is there any way I can fix that? Phone screen is all black :/

Have you rebooted the phone? Do you have TWRP? Do you know how to use Fastboot? Might need to reflash

Fixed already. I rebooted into TWRP and then (when I didn't think about what to do) rebooted back to system. Maybe just a reboot works.
Hello. I dont have this option in my device
