Planning to get the LG Optimus G unlocked but it is originally a AT&T phone. I have unlimited plan with T-Mobile with the first 2.5gb of data up to 4gLTE speeds and I was wondering will this AT&T phone work with T-Mobile's 4gLTE? I have read around that this phone will receive 4g HSPA+ but I want to know if it will recieve 4gLTE.
Thanks
No.

it works for me now in L.A.
ok, my bootloader is unlocked and phone is rooted. i got Att kitkat bootloader, the latest Cyangen mod nightly rom, Neighborhood Kernel, and the Att jellybean Radio. The CM11 rom has all the apns and the T-mobile LTE is already selected. I didn't have to change any of the Service Menu setting. Hope this helps.

I'm using the Verizon Wireless LG G3 on Cricket Wireless which is a GSM carrier that uses AT&T towers.
I've been using Android 4.4 with the 10b modem and my 4G LTE has been working great since I got this phone about 6 months ago. I have TWRP on my phone, so I went ahead and upgraded to Android 5.0 (with 23b modem) and no longer have any LTE at all. I can only connect to HSPA+. I did a nandroid back to 4.4 where I left off and I have my LTE back.
I know many of you are probably using your VZW LG G3 on Verizon, so i'm reaching out to anybody else who may be using it on a GSM carrier. Can anybody help me with this? I'd love to have Android 5.0 on my phone, but i'm not willing to lose LTE, so I'm back on my nandroid of 4.4 until I can figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated...
Someone asked in the other thread you asked this if you kept your APN settings from your KitKat ROM, since they would be necessary to have the full network features on any other ROM / update.

Im jealous u have lte im on cricket and my phone was already 12b whn i got it also can you post your apn settings
My APN'S aren't the reason I get LTE. I get LTE because I'm on 10b radio. When I try to use the stock lollipop rom it upgrades my radio to 23b and disables LTE. I installed CM 5.0.1. nightly with 10b radio and I get LTE on Android 5.0 now, but only on CM or AOSP. I've tested all of the modems with my phone and I get LTE on Cricket Wireless with 10b and 11c modems, but absolutely no LTE with 12b or 23b. It's the radio causing the lack of LTE on GSM carriers. I think it's Verizon's way of still trying to carrier lock their phones a bit. I never had Verizon, I bought my G3 on craigslist for $100...
And it was me who asked that in another thread, my bad. Was just trying to get to the root of the problem and I did. I would still love to use the Stock Verizon based lollipop ROM with my phone, but it installs 23b radio which disables LTE. If I install the 10b radio while that ROM is installed, my signal will cut out every 15 seconds or so...
So i'm hoping someone can tell me how to install the stock lollipop ROM with a different radio, that would be fantastic!
Dang that sucks. I couldnt take it anymore installed the ota lsdt night and switched to Verizon prepaid

Well I did figure out if I use 10b or 11c modem that I get LTE on cricket or GSM networks. If i use AOSP or CM 5.0 based ROM I get LTE also without signal cutout. Just can't use the stock Verizon/LG based Android 5.0 ROM
I like cricket because they offer me 20GB of mobile data per month and unlimited talk and text for $60/month

That is a great deal for cricket. I checked my Phone LG G3 VS985 with cricket website and it says it only compatible up to 3G data speed??!!
I currently have T-Mobile with only 4GB and $55 per month.
I run my vs985 on stock rooted KitKat - not sure which radio I installed last - on both Cricket and T-Mobile pre-paid sims, sometimes, and I get great LTE on both, when available in the area. So, the Cricket website is just wrong about H+ only.
Also, AT&T wholly owns Cricket, which contains AIO now.

I am on T-mobile, and I want to share my LTE experience. The phone comes in 12b (Kitkat), and I can get LTE on band 4. I then downgraded to 10b (both ROM and radio), and I still get LTE, so both 10b and 12b radio should support LTE band 4. I haven't tried 23b yet as it is Lollipop 5.0.1 and it has memory leak issue that is to be fixed on 5.1.1 or later. I had 5.1 on my old Nexus 5, and the memory leak issue is very annoying. The apps will randomly hang and not responsive.

So, 12b radio does allow LTE on band4 like on T-Mobile ? Others say not on Cricket band4. I wonder which is correct if not both ?
Anyone can tell me how to check which radio version I have installed ? I thought it was 12b, but don't know how to see. I think it was to enable VoLTE, but I have never set that up on my account due to reports of transition difficulties.

Cricket is AT&T MVNO, and AT&T main LTE band is 17, which is not supported by VS985. Band 4 is a supplemental LTE band for AT&T, so it may not be available in many area. LTE band 4 is definitely supported by 12b modem.
My 10b modem Baseband version (last 5 letters) is NPZM-1. Maybe someone can report their 12b modem Baseband version here.
I get excellent high speed LTE on both T-Mobile and Cricket (cheap but throttled AT&T) everywhere I have tested here in NC and Virginia and Seattle. So band4 is not too rare on AT&T.
My modem ends with NPZM-1.7834.1 so it might be the same as yours ?
I think its pretty interesting that all the band 2 LTE is rolling out will work on practically no current phones except the N6 and some couple of Samsung variants. Hope the G4 will support it.
One of the reasons I hesitate to update to L is that I don't think anyone has found a way to enable the G3's band3 LTE yet on Lollipop and I want that for Europe travel.

I think your modem is probably 12b. My 10b modem ends with 1 without the ".7834.1", so yours is newer than 10b. Good that the band 4 works out for you on AT&T. I am on T-mobile, and my LTE speed is great too in the San Francisco Bay Area. I usually get between 20-30Mbps, but sometimes can go up to 57Mbps.
Nexus 5 supports band 2 too. About band 3, maybe you can try enabling it on 12b and then upgrade to L to see if it stays? I enabled band 3 on US version of Nexus 5 and it stays when I put new rom on it. Not sure if it is the same as Nexus 5.
Hi all,
I inserted my AT&T SIM into a G850M, but it doesn't get mobile data connection. Calling and text messaging works fine. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
I think you should check the APN really carefully.
Probably something wrong on APN or the SIM card .
The Bands on 850 M are better for Metro PCS/Tmo .
Check which Bands AT & T use for Data .
I upgraded to 5.02, then did factory reset. That fixed it and I'm getting LTE on ATT.

Can you tell me if the G850M is carrier-branded in any way? I know the G850F isn't, and I was wondering if the same is true for the G850M.
Also, have you tried using the portable WiFi hotspot/tethering feature on the G850M? If so, does it work for free (without having it on your AT&T plan)? I know Nexus phones allow you to do this.
Thanks!
850M is not carrier-branded...it's sold by Vodafone.
I did use it to create a Wi-Fi hotspot to tether my laptop. It works well, and I do not pay extra for this feature on ATT.
I have the VZW S4 variant on OF1. I rooted and at first, had access to the Signal app, but now, however, I do not. Even with that app, changing it to GSM only gave me 3g but with NO DATA. So, calls and texts worked, but I got NO DATA.
My problem now is trying to figure out how to get data working under GSM.. and how to make the signal app work again. Like I said though; even when I used that app -- no data.
Help please.
The thread below may help. Can you provide a little detail on your steps to root, ROM, and data info i.e. APN, network settings, Signal App Status info, etc.
Here you go:
forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/help/galaxy-s4-i545-verizon-outbound-text-t3186668
Rooted with Mobile Gogo. ROM is stock. APN network settings are T-Mobile's. Signal App won't let me do anything, as I've said. It's locked.
Also ---
When I /COULD/ use the Signal app, and change it, on 3g and HSPA+ I got TEXT but NO DATA.
This is my problem./
@DMiller92 your problem is super simple. T-mobile is gsm, it uses a different kind of technology than verizon which is a cdma network. I've never heard of a verizon branded phone being able to switch to a gsm network. If it's not impossible its at the very least much harder than you realize. Phones do exist that are built specifically to be able to use either network, but a verizon branded device will never be one. Your limited to switching to other cdma networks eg sprint

There are tons of threads in which people have success with this. I've got everything working, sort of...
But now WiFi won't work. At all. Can't even toggle it.

Not exactly. There are lots of people that got it "sort of working" verizon i545 is a "global phone" in the sense that in countries outside of the US it is made to connect to 4g gsm lte networks as cdma is being depreciated in countries like mexico and canada. Meaning you need to use the 4g apns if the service is available in your area. Non 4g vzw devices dont work in many parts of mexico and canada, or do not work well anymore for this reason. It does not have hardware meant to pick up standard gsm 3g networks.
Tl;dr use 4g apn settings.
Try this: Name : T-Mobile LTE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms

Everything works as it should.. the data just drops.
My problem now:
I can't toggle WiFi. I can't use it. I can't turn it on.
That sounds like a rom issue. If you're lucky enough to have an unlocked bootloader your best bet would be to just flash a tmobile rom btdubs. Try heading to stang5litres rom and flashing the vzwwififix.zip. make sure to wipe dalvik and cache

You will also need to change the smsc number to +12063130004 and change network mode to gsm(auto).
I did this with an app called advance signal status, you will need your su binary at 2.49 or higher. I'm now fully functional on tmobile. The files needed are inlink below

You are totally wrong. The i545, in addition to LTE Band 4 (T-Mo's primary one), has WCDMA/HSPA radio capability on PCS (1900mhz), which is now T-Mo's primary 3G band, as well as 850mhz (AT&T), 900mhz (other countries), and 2100mhz (other countries).
@tengtengvn thanks for reiterating that. I was going off the outlines listed on Verizon's CDMA retirment FAQ page which lines up with what I said outside of device specifics.
Wondering if anyone has had the issue where unlocked ATT S9+ can not access T-Mobile's VOLTE? data works flawlessly. T-Mobile has no Edge or wcdma in my areas calls fail. Never seen this issue on an unlocked att device before they always have worked on tmobilesVOLTE
since yesterday I've had my at&t s9+ on tmobiles network, and have full functionality. Advanced messaging, VoLTE, wifi calling and video calling all work fine. Started with at&t, unlocked, flashed g965u1 firmware, flashed back to g965u stock tmobile with home_csc and omitted userdata. haven't tried at&t on tmo before, and I guess my process was a bit convoluted but I also wanted to debloat and unbrand.
