Hi all,
I inserted my AT&T SIM into a G850M, but it doesn't get mobile data connection. Calling and text messaging works fine. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
I think you should check the APN really carefully.
Probably something wrong on APN or the SIM card .
The Bands on 850 M are better for Metro PCS/Tmo .
Check which Bands AT & T use for Data .
I upgraded to 5.02, then did factory reset. That fixed it and I'm getting LTE on ATT.

Can you tell me if the G850M is carrier-branded in any way? I know the G850F isn't, and I was wondering if the same is true for the G850M.
Also, have you tried using the portable WiFi hotspot/tethering feature on the G850M? If so, does it work for free (without having it on your AT&T plan)? I know Nexus phones allow you to do this.
Thanks!
850M is not carrier-branded...it's sold by Vodafone.
I did use it to create a Wi-Fi hotspot to tether my laptop. It works well, and I do not pay extra for this feature on ATT.

My AT&T Atrix is on its way to me in Canada. While I wait, just wondering if those in Canada who have it - are you equally limited on the uplink speeds? I'm following the story on Engadget etc but it's not clear if the limitation is on the handset or the AT&T switches?
Theoretically the Bell version won't have this limitation (or will it?).
Thanks

I'm on Rogers, typically on the UTMS band. I get anywhere from 5-7Mbps download, but definately have not seen more than 400Kbps on the uplink.
I've done some testing on the Fido (Rogers) network and am limited to about 380kbps for upload with my AT&T matrix. Using my wife's iPhone on the same network gets me about 1.5Mbps upload speeds.
Upload speeds have definitely been limited on the AT&T Matrix! It remains to be seen if that is the case with the Bell version.
I'm having trouble with my Atrix connecting to the Rogers network. I get phone calls and texts, but can't use the data network. My WiFi is also acting very sporadic.
Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Problem solved. I didn't know I had to manually enter the Rogers APN information.

I am having the same problem. I picked up my Atrix, Bell Version, from Wireless wave yesterday and unlocked it. Like you said I can receive phone calls and texts but can't connect to the network. Could you fill me in on what you did exactly to solve this?
I don't know the APN information you are referring to.
Never mind. I googled Rogers APN info. and found it and now I have it working.
Thanks anyway!
Can those with the Bell version comment if you get EDGE data when HSPA isn't available? I know the Telus Desire had EDGE blocked (because Bell/Telus network doesn't support EDGE data) but I don't want to be limited to EDGE on Rogers and when on other International networks. I'm assuming it's NOT blocked because it looks like it has the same firmware (more or less) as the AT&T version which would have to support EDGE.
Alright..I'm running an unlocked Bell Atrix on the Telus network..and was recently down in San Diego where I purchased a Tmobile SIM card for use while I was down there (and so I could Hotspot and have the wife boost off my wifi for her phone).
When I attempted to do this however I got a notice that I had to enable this thru my AT&T provider. Obviously it was a Tmobile sim card using tmobiles APN..so I'm not sure why it was prompting me to contact AT&T. Does anyone know a way I can get around this for the next time I'm down in the US? I'll be going to Hawaii in Sept and really want to be able to tether so all my Canadian companions can boost off me..
you'd only get 2G off t-mobile
maybe try getting an ATT sim card?
rebellus run their 3G off the same 850/1900 frequency as ATT
regardless, t-mobile's data apn probably didn't get added. try adding them next time.

I had data..and I'm not sure if it was 3g or 2g but it was quick enough that I didn't notice any difference. The problem is at&t doesn't sell prepaid sims with data..that's why I went with tmobile. I had the apn's configured appropriately otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get any data..which I was. I just wasn't able to tether..
So I have me an Orange- UK sim card coming. My AT&T Galaxy S2 Is unlocked. I was wanting to test this in the states before everything. Its Prepaid but Orange Prepaid WORKS on T-Mobile in the USA. Since Network Selection is locked down Is there anyway to Select T-Mobile? Cause I know network secltion is locked. And yes the Phone is SIM UNLOCKED so I know it will take the sim card. its just will it connect to the T-Mobile Network?
It will work for calls. But Internet will only be edge. 3g and 4g(h+) for tmobile are run on a band this phone doesn't have.

But would my phone be able to get on the T-Mobile network at all since I can't select networks? And also idk about the att version but the T-Mobile galaxy s2 has the ATT 3g bands. But data does not matter. I just needed an UK number here in the states so calls and texts are just fine. But would it easily connect to the T-Mobile network without selecting it? Since it won't let me

Just do a search for tmobile apn's. Putting in the right apn will 'select' your carrier. Calling and internet will work fine. Just limited to edge. Tmobile phones are 100% compatible with at&t networks.

Sense it is similar unlocked it is network unlocked. Once you put your similar in and reboot it will go through the network set up again saying it detected a new similar card. After that it will connect fine. As for the data he is right the ATT version only supports ATT 3G or better bands, but as you said the data doesn't matter. If it doesn't automatically go through you can go into settings and select wireless networks and there is an option to scan for networks. Just select T-Mobile if that is what your carrier will run on. Not sure how it will react sense it will be roaming on that network though
On the att galaxy s2 it won't allow u to do network scan it search unless running miui rom

It would if your sim card prefers T-Mobile network. Although you can't manually select networks, SIM card contains instructions as to which network it prefers to use. There is really no need to manually select networks unless you don't like what the SIM carrier prefers.
Hi,
i have a unlocked T-mobile G900T. since the time i moved to Saudi Arabia, i am not able to use 4G LTE network here. in Auto mode it connects to 4G data connection and internet data works fine but no calls and sms. phone goes directly to voice mail. if i force it to use only GSM network then it works fine.
the S5 version being sold here in the market is G900F and the carrier uses 1800/2100/2600 band, which are supported with g900t. so i was trying to flash the modem.bin from a G900F rom and created .tar.md5 but odin is giving me "SECURE CHECK FAIL modem" error.
any suggestions.
..
Not so smily now
ohh welll.. i didn't thought it wouldn't be that difficult. i am not going to stay here very long so buying another phones would be waste of money. i'l be using 2G network then with a portable LTE hotspot, they are not expensive
just for discussion sake, maybe somebody can shed some light, the LTE bands used here are supported by the G900T, but they way T-mobile configured the radio for G900T to use data and voice channels. maybe causing the problem. i read another topic here on XDA discussing to enable Carrier Convergence on G900T, with LTE everybody is using very different implementations.

Hey guys new to this site,
My mother recently switched to t-mobile and is in dire need of help. I did the general apn settings for t-mobile's let network but lte works in few places and she is unable to send texts. I heard there is a way to add lte bands to your phone but a root is necessary.
I am currently on lollipop 5.0.1, is there a way to unlock the bootloader to root the phone?
Thanks in advance,
James

for T-Mobile, this phone only supports their 3g bands and will not use their 4g bands. there is no way to add bands, and if someone tells you there is, theyre lying and don't know what they're talking about.
to answer your other question, you can not unlock the bootloader on this phone, however, you can root if you are on the OC1 build using the kingroot desktop program. warning: it's all in Chinese
