Has anyone found a way to get Tomtom Go 1.9 to move the map data to the external_sd2 card? As it stands when Tomtom installs it defaults to internal_sd and takes up all my free space. I have a 32Gb sd card for the external one but it doesn't seem to want to use it. I have found some different posts about modifying a couple of xml files but it doesn't seem to work for me. Outside of the storage issue Tomtom works great on @Malaysk's April 15 ROM.
Steve
Use startup builder, it is present in the rom. Then use the the option fix TomTom put here the path and then after making it there must Some commando like
lsd "/mnt/internal_sd/Android/data" "com.tomtom.gplay." /mnt/external_sd*/*
Good luck playing with it.

Tried that but it didn't work.

It was long ago that i did it. But i thought i did install TomTom, run settings till map question came. Copy all files from internal storage to external storage. Do the thing with startup builder. Reboot, download maps

Do I run startup builder and set it before I install the app and map data or after one or the other? I am going to try something different. I bought a new blank SD card to place in the GPS card slot (External_SD) and am going to try it with that.

tomtom 1.9 on external sd
Hi there,
For me, the tomtom fix does not work in the pcv builder apk.
What i did, was a regular install on the internal sd then i installed foldermount apk from apps store and move the files on the external sd
TomTom work very well this way. The only matter is that it take about 1 minute after the boot of the unit to have tomtom available. that the time it take for foldermount apk to mount the folders. I have not find the way to make it faster even with the option of early start in pvc builder. So if someone has a trick, i take it.
Well I finally got it working. I replaced the GPS SD Card (external_sd) with a new 16GB Blank SD. I then followed this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66398472&postcount=3120 And I got it to work. I think when I tried it before I did not do the reboot after changing the xml files nor did I copy the folders over like in the post. I don't know if it was a problem or not but also previously I was trying to use the external_sd2 and not the external_sd(GPS) card. Anyway.....seems to be working like a champ now.
Steve
just use foldermount... on my device it's working very good

Hi,
I upgraded to the 4.01.00 build of 2003. I decided after a bit that I missed the stuff I could add in from the kitchen and also for some reason when I tried to install something to the SD card it would just create a cab file on the card... So I manually started the cab installer from the location and it automatically installed the software into main memory?
I went back to a new brew of yorch's kitchen using 4.00.16 with hopes that this would be resolved...
I dont seem to have any problems accessing the SD card.. the data is transfered over fine... although I set Activesync to use the sd card it only ever copies the cab file and then shows the program not installed.... if I go to the SD card I can see and run the cab file copied over by activesync... but it only copies it to memory
I thought cab files installed relative to your current location (i.e) you run an install from the SD.. it gets installed to the SD.. run it from the main memory and it gets installed to the main memory.. etc.
But I'm totally confused as to why activesync refuses to install anything onto the SD card itself.
Has anyone else recieved this problem? know how to fix it? any ideas?
currently it appears I can only use the SD card for music/files or whatever I want to store rather than install other programs...
cheers for any help,
Ian.
I would uninstall your current version of activesync and install version 3.7.1. If you have 3.7.1, I would do a reinstall. It sounds like the issue isn't your SD card or the ROM that is loaded.
upps, on my XDA I everything works fine ...
I mean installing software to SD card and running the software from SD card, others things are not that smooth .... but the above mentioned is ok
I do use WM2003, version 4.0.21 T-Mobile ROM
regards,
monika
Just thought I'd add how I fixed the problem...
I stopped using this
http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fg/dockware.htm
everytime I hard reset my device the first thing I'd do was install 3 programs...
Iliumsoft Dockware Pro
Tillanosoft Small Menu Plus
Omega One Battery Pack 2004
On that build (4.01.00) of the ROM Dockware would pretend to install by activesync... but it wouldnt even copy over or anything...
After doing that, the rest of the software would follow straight into main memory whither I asked it to or not.... the exception to this case was a few programs like Resco explorer and a few games that did install to the card.
Everything else just copied the cab files over to the sd card.. and then when you installed the cab files from there, they went into main memory.
So.... I hard reset the device and didnt install DockWare at all.... every piece of software installs fine now without a hitch...
Strange huh?
MOTD: dont use Dockware on later builds of 2k3 heh
Hi
I just got from Ebay an used HD2 LEO, with installed IGO 8.3 + maps.
Question: If i flash a different ROM, will i loose the IGO, or i can install/start it from the storage card? Also, if i upgrade to a bigger card, may i just copy/past it there?
BTW, the HD2 is light years above my ex Toshiba TG01.
Depends if they left the installation cab on the card.
To more directly answer your question, the Rom flash will erase everything from the phone.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
There in not any sign of IGO in the device. I looked in all directories, not only in Programs and Windows. It seams to be only on the storage card.
Despite that i'm assuming that there is some copyright protection, which not allows just to copy/paste it from one storage cart to another and another phone/rom.
Nobody?
Really?
So, no one ever flashed new ROM, since having IGO installed on the storage card?

Personally I don't use IGO but a other Navigation Software.
In normal cases the software is storage on the SD (also the protection key) so install a new Rom don't mater!
The only thing you can't do is format your SD because it will remove the protection.
the only thing that get lose by Rom update is the Quicklinks,

Before you do anything, I'd recommend that you backup all your storage card contents to your PC or another storage card. You should also consider backing up your HD2 with Spb Backup or something similar. Then, if you can find a copy of the specific ROM that's already loaded on your system, you will be able to fully restore everything back to its current state, if needed.
In regard to IGO8, I'm guessing that as long as you do not wipe the storage card, IGO should be fine. You will just need to copy and paste a shortcut of the IGO.exe to your Windows\Start Menu\Programs Folder, once you finish flashing your new ROM.
Hope this helps...
Best to all,
R

Check your storage card with a file explorer, and verify that the IGO.exe is in the IGO Folder. If it is, you should have no problem backing it up or moving it to a larger card.

I have flashed many times and can verify that you can reinstall iGO8 from the 2577 folder on the storage card with all of settings in tact.

I agreed...as long as the 2577 and IGO folder is store in your storage card its doesn't really matter either u flashed it or do the hard reset on your HD2. Currently I am using IGO 8.3.4 for HTC HD2.
Thanks
I'm going to look out for new ROMs. I love this game.
OK I flashed and IGO still works.
Thanks for the support.
Does anyone knows how to get a quick-link for it, since it's on the SD card only?
I've been running CM10.1.3 and mostly loving it.
The thing that bothers me is that my "external" SD card is essentially useless. The only thing I can do with it is manually copy files to and from.
Ideally, I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to install apps to my SD card (preferably by default, but I'd settle for being able to easily move them), as well as set it as my default storage location (that's less important) for everything except system apps. For example, I can't tell Chrome to do anything but download to the default location, so I need that default location to be where I want it so that I don't have to manually copy every single file Chrome downloads.
I understand there's a way to fool the OS into thinking that my SD card is actually the internal memory, but that doesn't solve my problem. I need to be able to selectively move apps and storage directories to the SD card, otherwise I'll have exactly the same problem I have now. My SD card is bigger than my internal memory, but the difference of 4gb doesn't really sound like a solution.
I feel like I've jumped through enough hoops getting CM10 to do what I need it to do, and I'm ready to abandon it for something new. I'll try anything; the only requirement is that I need to be able to install or move apps to my SD card. I don't need the OS to do it right in the app manager; If I have to use Rom Toolbox or Titanium Backup or some other app to do it, I'm fine with that. But that function of those apps doesn't work on CM10.
I understand that there are nightly builds of CM11 available for the Note 2, but they're listed as "unstable" for a reason, and I'm not sure (though not entirely against) I'm interested in having to flash up to the new build every couple days. I think I'd be pretty safe with CM, but I don't want to be stuck without some device function I consider vital because today's build borked it.
Part of me wants to be convinced that getting on the CM nightly train is worth my while, and part of me just wants to be given a solution of "here is the ROM you're looking for."
So is there a JB or KK ROM out there that will do what I need? Am I just boned until a CM11 RC shows up? Is there a reasonably sure-fire way to make CM10 do this (I've tried every one of a very long list of solutions and have had no success without wiping and reflashing)?
I just upgraded to a SanDisk 32gb from my old 8gb and now i am missing a lot of my apps. They show in the app drawer, but when i try to open them i get the error that the app is not installed.
Here is what i did, hoping i could save everything.
1. I removed my 8gb card and copied everything to my pc.
2. Then i inserted the new card and copied all the old files to it.
3. I inserted the new sd card into my s5 with the power off on the device.
4. Booted the phone, and the apps show in the drawer, but upon opening the apps i get the message that the app is not installed.
Any help?
Ps> sorry guys that i haven't been around much this month. I had to fire 4 employees of mine over a two week span and pick up their work.
I will try to be more active, for those that missed me. Hehe

You are making an erroneous assumption that a file by file copy would save you from having to reinstall apps. An sector by sector image would have been a better approach. One of the descrepancies between the old card and new is apparently leading the OS to conclude that the installed app files are no longer available.
It might be tied to a volume serial number or erroneous path, etc. But my guess would be that you missed copying a hidden system directory. In any event, try again or reinstall the apps.
.
Thanks for the response @fffft , i already formatted the old sd card and gave it to a buddy that has an s4 and had memory issues, with his kids installing every game they can find. Lol. I see a hidden folder that contains about 1.86 gb of data that looks like the files that i am missing, it seems that it was just copied to a different place on the new sd card, im trying to place it correctly, but if it doesn't work then i will just reinstall.
Thanks again.
Hi,
I've just updated to Lollipop and had been under the impression that I would now be able to move some game files to my 64gb micro sd card.
However, while the app manager seems to have a 'Move to SD' button, all that seems to do is move files within the internal storage of the device, rather than moving them to the actual SD card. When using ES Explorer, rather than the file manager that comes with the tablet, it has two 'SD cards' one of which is actually part of the 12gb of internal storage.
Is there a way now, without rooting, of moving files to the 'real' sd card rather than this fake virtual one? What is it with the whole fake SD card anyway? What a crap and deliberately misleading way to do it.
Cheers.

I updated my stock z2 tablet to lollipop yesterday, happy as hell for the return of app2sd, and sadly a few moments after installing the first few apps I noticed precisely this. All of the apps I moved to the sd card do not transfer to the external sd, but to the internal "fake" sd partition (not visible on the file explorer that comes in the device, but es explorer shows it). I mean, this totally defeats the purpose, I still can't use my 32gb card to store app data after all, and everything is where it was on kit kat: inside the limited internal storage (16gb wifi version here). Why on earth do I get the option to transfer to sd if stuff isnt rly being transfered to sd?
I've spent the entire afternoon looking for ppl with similar issues, and even though I found a few, I haven't found a solution or an answer anywhere. Does this happen to only a few ppl? Or is it that most ppl just root/unlock/flash roms and nvr notice this?
Is there anyone around here that can shed some light over this? Goin crazy here :/
There is a new update from Sony which fixes that.
A. 1.28 for 521 or A. 1.30 for 511.

Where did you find this A.1.30 build ?
I'm under A.1.28 rooted and still can't move entire app to SD
Slight bump - but I'm also still afflicted by this, despite my 521 being on 1.28. Can anyone confirm if it should be necessary to factory reset before being able to correctly push apps to the SD card? I use my tablet mainly for games and streaming, so I have a pretty much useless 64GB SD card which is 99.9% empty even after "moving" all my apps and games to the "SD card".
I certainly didn't have to factory reset mine before I could move to SD - it just worked after doing the latest update.
OK, thanks! Looks like something's gone wrong for me then as I still can't do this.
According to Solid Explorer, I've got the following symlinks in my device root:
/sdcard (-> /storage/emulated/legacy)
/sdcard1 (-> /storage/sdcard1)
In /storage, I have a symlink called sdcard0 which also links to /storage/emulated/legacy.
/storage/emulated/legacy, of course, just takes me to my "internal memory". So when an app gets "moved to SD" it ends up staying exactly where it was.
Is there any way to fix this? Can I remove the symlinks safely, or recreate them pointing to the correct place?
