Hello..I am thinking of retiring my sgs for sgs2..Until a few days earlier i had even planned, when to get it..i have played with the phone on stores and its more than amazing..its so much better than everything else out there, its almost alien..
BUT..For a few days i have browsed to reaserch before i spend that kind of money. And it turns out it has MANY issues..
yellow screens
short wifi ranges
pink photos
rf-flaky gps
battery drains
sudden reboots
and worst of all overheats..
I guess for the most part they "could" be software problems..But overheating is a real worry for me..I live in a country where summers , ambient temperatures easily climb to 40-45 degrees celsius..An overheat combined to that could litteraly melt the device..
So i ask of you , already owners..Is it really as bad as reading about it looks?or is it exxagerations? It is not a cheap device so i should proceed carefuly.Thank you..
Its a dual core so its going to get hot and as it has a thin case will appear more hot .
But its not what i term a HOT hot i would term it warm mostly .
The other problems you mention dont doubt that they exist on someone's phone but not on mine from day one .
jje
I am using my second sgs2 now. The first one I had had no issues except a pink spot on photos. (this was gone after firmware upgrade)
Then the phone got stolen....
Second sgs2 now and everything works fine, no overheating or anything, I would say my old sgs got even warmer at times especially when gaming on the charger.
I would say it depends a bit on your device, but overall it should be ok! Im extremely happy after upgrading to be honest (Hence I bought a second sgs2 after the first one got ripped)

Hello..I remember seeing you often on sgs subfora.I hope you are happy with your upgrade!
Would you say it is like 40 degrees warm?or 50 degrees warm?As i said if it escalades too much on an already high ambient temperature it could fry it..
Also..Do you use a case?I suspect that would make heat problems worse?
I'm planning to retire my 6 months old SGS and get an SGS II!
I know I can't go wrong with this choice ;-]
Hi,
-yellow screens
if my sgsII screen is yellow, than it should be So no problems there, all colors are like they should be. I really like the display
-short wifi ranges
I heard that from a friend, he tried with another friend and iPhone 4 had better range for wifi. Where the sgsII had no connection, the iPhone still could use wifi.
in my apartment I can use the phone everywhere. router is on the one side of the house, bed on the other side (~10m, 2 walls) and it works. It shows 2 of 3 for wifi. So its okay for me
-pink photos
none, I read the post here and tried it out with a white wall, flash and no flash. Bad light. But picture was still perfect.
-rf-flaky gps
GPS works fine for me
-battery drains
its a smartphone, so you need to recharge every day or every second day. Depending on how much you use it. Like any other high end android device.
-sudden reboots
No reboots yet
-and worst of all overheats..
it is getting hot.
but no problems for me.
It's gettin colder very fast if you stop to use it.
But even when I used it over an hour (plugged in) I had no problem with holding it.
Overall I like the phone. I dont want another one
buy it. i love this phone. Nothing to complain about. I came from a decent phone too!(atrix)
Please don't take the general section at face value. I have a sgs2 from first batch with no issues. After any device release, the section will be filled with false complaints.
Most complaint threads will have the most post versus positive threads. Most if not all complaint threads are bs with very few actual members having problems.
No phone is perfect but my device is running great.

You answered your own question having researched the forum. You may or may not experience any or all of the issues you listed. Just like some existing owners have and haven't experienced them. Are you looking for someone to tell you everything's going to be OK? Fine. Everything's going to be OK.

Yes i did.And when entering new post title none comparable was found as well..i found clusters of others, asking about each of the issues separately, weeks apart..so i thought instead of asking in 7 archived topics , to ask in a new one..could have even been possible many of them to have been resolved by updates, since then.
Nah this phone is terrible. My nokia 3310 does everythong sooooo much better!
The screen is better
Battery lasts longer
Its even overclocked!!

More comments on my main concern please..Overheat..Has anyone seen from spare part or similar app how many degrees it can reach when getting hot?

Using a case now and it does make it a bit worse, but I havent seen the temperature going above 37 on the SGS2 yet. SGS1 got 42 sometimes. never saw 50 or something like this..
I do have a small problem now..

If I open the pictures fullscreen on this post, I can see some lines on my screen. On full brightness I dont see them, but with lower there are vague lines. I might check if other phones have this to, can some people here check it for me?
This is a minor problem, and I havent noticed it before someone pointed it out. The branding is also an issue if you make it an issue, this is software not hardware so can be fixed.

I've got to 50 before, using google maps and navigation beta simultaneously. It is a dual core phone though, and obviously is going to have a bit of sizzle behind it when pounding the processors.
I'd say go for it, it really is an amazing phone. The so called problems that have been raised are so superficial that they are near to non-existent. e.g. to see the yellow tint you have to turn down the brightness, use a certain coloured grey background, use a camera to take a picture of it, and then use photoshop to compare the colour of the two sides.
Come on folks, really.
I've used it heavily for a week and have had no overheating problems, you can always check the task manager if an application is misbehaving, it even blinks red if it's hitting the cpu hard.

thanks for the answer on overheating mate..your problem is nothing to worry about..its called banding and it exists on all amoled screens...it is more apparent on shades of grey colour..if you use winamp you can probably see it there on the main screen as well..nothing to worry about.i guess the new samoled+ will also have slower burn in time so it will not become worse soon..
i am not an expert in matters like this, but woulddn't it help if we could get replacement back covers made of thin aluminum?it would also ensure that if the phone dropped it would land on its back and not on the screen probably.
I am considering buying a Z2 in the next couple of days as a gift for my wife :victory:, it is stylish, with great power
but after reading about the overheating issue( while normal usage, NOT 4K recording) of this phone and the self cracking back glass of it.
I started to have second thoughts about it
until I read in an article somewhere that this phone uses the heating pipe technology to dissipate heat ( I think the heating issue coming from poor implementation of this tech) and till now (Z3 launch around the corner) sony hasn't commented on
what about having a normal TPU case on the back of it, since plastic can absorb heat from the back glass cover and dissipate it to the air, since plastic absorb and release heat faster than any glass ( some like DIY, Poor man's heat sink)
and what about rooting the phone and throttle the CPU your self by under-clocking it.
I really like this phone and I want to buy it and Sony was close, really close to craft the perfect android phone but they blew it
Also I hear that after batch 14w25, those problems disappeared, is that true ???
please help anyone :fingers-crossed:
I've had no overheating issues whatsoever with mine w19 iirc, under volting /clocking will of course reduce heat, I have mine set to 2ghz and a - 60 uv
Great question so far, I can say to you that DEPEND on the device. some got that issue, some not, and you cant check the 13wxx or 14wxx until you open the tray(which mean you open and use the phone). Just wait after 3 Sep and see which one you prefer. Current price for z2 is around $600 and the z3 is likely $1k when it launch. Hope this help.

Heya =) How can i undervolt ? Cause i would like to set mine to 2 aswell And can i do that in stock with only root ? If so please tell me how Thank you
Had no problems with my phone under normal usage. Btw no root just only stock.
If your wife is a average girl who loves shopping online, selfie picture , surfing the net, playing cute games, and Facebooking.
She will be pleased cause this phone is a stylish, beautiful, powerful to enough to her needs.
Most overheating issues are 4k video shooting and camera that was open too long to overheats. If you are playing kritika, high settings will slow the phone but normal setting is a smooth. FYI, Kritika is a high 3d game.

You need a custom kernel which in turn needs an unlocked bootloader, as there's no sources beyond 402 yet you need 402 fw to use dooms custom kernel or if on cm/pa/pac/carbon there's m5 kernel

I am expecting Z2 price to go down, once Z3 is lauched, and I am not going to pay 1k for a phone, it is not a car, it is not boat, and it is not a rocket...
Z2 is sufficient ( Great Display, Powerful Processor, Tons of ram ) and stylish
my only problem is the overheating and (rumored ) self cracking issue

I have 2 kids, so beside taking selfies, there will be serious work for back camera ( at least in superior auto mode)
and there always will be Facebook, instagram and twitter :silly:
and i am sure she will be pleased, now when u say
" Camera Open too Long"
too long means... 2 Minutes of continous picture taking in Superior Auto mode
or 5 minutes 4k video ( I am not going to use that ) what so ever
my problem in that when the phone in action... it tends to overheat ( Facebook, twitter, picture taking) as the reporting suggest
I am right or wrong... please help
yeaterday i went to the store and tried a Z2
the unit was 14w19
I was able to record 6 minutes of 4K video before the phone shuts the camera down because of overheat
from my observation, I think not all units are equals regarding all issues
- Self Cracking
- overheating
- gaps
and I think sony discovered the problems and solved them after 14w25... but it went quit about it
because I haven't seen anyone around the web complaining after build 25 and the ones after it
what do you think men

Just to support your idea, I work as a phone repair/replace in a phone accessories shop, I hear so much about self crack or do nothing and the screen just crack/broke. It is non-sense. The phone nowadays is equiped by high-quality glass not just a platis or some kind of easy-break-crytal. Be realistic and reasonable. I can give a list of more than 20 devices I use so far which never crack screen or self dead. NEVER BELIEVE in internet 100%, it is reference. If you want more information just go to any phone repair/phone shop and ask that question. Becareful otherwise everyone will laugh at your face.

there is alot in the internet about the self cracking back of sony... with temp suddenly go up/down because of the sudden change in temperature and because of the glass being glass
I don't own a sony, and i am looking forward to buy one... and i am just asking... the argument makes sense to me... and i am not talking about the screen
I am talking about the back glass cover

Very well, I lack of the phrase "the back as well". There is no way like that UNLESS you record 4k video for more than 20mins(or gaming bla bla) which cause the temperature up to 50 Celsius degree or more THEN you throw in the water for cooling. THAT is the most stupid thing to do with everything not just phone. Sudden change in temperature from more than 20 Celsius degree(from 50 down to about 30) is causing crack/damage to the item. You can search for it everywhere and maybe from Chemistry or Physic class in high school. Do I say it clear?

Check general responsiveness and battery life. Charge to 100% and use as you would normally use your phone. At around 20%...check how long that's lasted.
Be happy. You have an amazing phone dude. Only issue I'll ever have is Oppo's update policy. No problem with the device itself as it's a big brand flagship killer. Or at least up there with the big boys.
Enjoy

The camera does accumulate some dust. It's inevitable due to it's design I suppose, but it's minimal. I always wipe it down every now and then with a microfibre cloth. Not a big deal.
As for low Mic...not getting anything like that. Not heard of this issue either. A quick search on the internet brought nothing, so not sure where you've seen that

Only thing I've negatively experienced during calls is hands free calling Mrs Moozer. Suddenly she will be unable to hear me but I can hear her. Only seems to happen on calls to her on hands free. Regular calls are fine. She has a P30 Lite, so I'm banking on that being the issue, not my phone !! Lol

Yes, as I live in India, dust do get accumulate quite quickly! But that's too micro-dust, I guess that kind of dust we inhale everyday!
a swipe from MicroFiber cloth works perfectly, but it has to be done very carefully, because the dust while cleaning can be pushed further into the body! (I hope not much should have accumulated already in my device, I can't open and clean it!)
Guys,
Urgent help
Got the device. Everything looks awesome.
But there seems to be serious issue with the battery drain. 100% to 2% in almost 6 hours. And yes I used it during these hours for watching movies and internet was on. But Is this normal?
Power usage shows the apps I used as the culprits. Mx Player Pro, Whatsapp and Browser. So is this like normal or an issue with my device?

Hi,
I noticed my xperia 1 mark III is overheating even in normal use, especially in 120Hz mode. I hope sony will fix it as this device is really scalding.
It really burns!
This is the hottest device I ever had
Software version: 61.0.A.11.23
You're burning up your battery. Time is of the essence, resolve this issue fast. Shutdown the phone if it gets too hot!!!
Auto thermal shutdown may not protect the display/mobo especially if in hot ambient temperatures, in direct sunlight, or when charging.
Keep brightness at 50% or less.
Factory reset.
If that fails...
Find the apks or/and services causing to high drain.
If that fails, return the device.
The clock is ticking, Mr Wick tic-tok...
This is a serious problem. I took some photos and videos (4k and slowmotion) while standing in the sun. Outside temperature was about 23°C (73°F). After about 5 minutes I got an overheat message.
An app that I installed earlier registered an internal temperature of 40.5°c. It felt really hot to (while in a bumper case).
After I put the phone on a granite kitchen table it cooled down in about 10 minutes.

It is serious. Turn off the phone when it feels very warm before it goes over temperature.
Using a AMOLED display in direct sunlight is never a good plan. Limit it to seconds of use.
I have had this same problem since I got it to the point where I got an alert that some apps would be shutdown.
US Version purchased from Adoroma in the states : 61.0.A.11.23
Just another aggravating issue with this phone. Some are having boot loops of a sort also! What is wrong with these companies? Can they not produce a decent product anymore? 1300.00 and it's junk???????????
I am getting overheating as well, a little warm most of the time I use the phone.
Definitely was the 120hz display turned on. Less warm when the 60.
When using the wireless charger.
Anytime I use the cameras.
I am on the latest update as well.
Hm, very intriguing issue with $1300 flagship smartphone from such a respectable brand. I had similar problem with Xperia 1 II in several occasions. And... I think I know what's the problem (not bloody hot SD888 as you might suggest!). Please have a good look at dissasembly video:
Then compare it with $390 LG V60 ThinQ disassembly video from the same guy. Spot the difference! And it is - missing cooling system on Xperia 1 II / 1 III whereas LG V60 has quite big copper vapour chamber! Maybe that's why my LG V60 never gets really hot. So the question is ... WTF are you doing SONY?!
Well, I just sent back my first Pixel - 5A - for overheating. I have been watching the 1 iii and the 5 iii as a possible purchase...but I am turned off by the dedicated assistant button that might possibly be remappable... but for sure I will NOT buy either of these mark 3 phones if they overheat! Makes me sick just how badly most new phones are functioning.
Yeah same, it seems to turn off randomly when using the cameras and when 120HZ screen is on.

I think it's the case for warranty replacement or even return if possible. This is one of the reason why I don't buy expensive brand new phones parallel imported (not officially sold in my country). Just because it means no proper warranty, no service, no nothing.
My Xperia 1 III is getting extremely hot even when taking photos (only 2-3) then get message about hot temperature and apps shutting down.
I use Streamlabs mostly (sometimes Prism) to broadcast to YouTube, foundthe phone almost useless! Overheating in seconds from start of s stream! I'm using my old Samsung Note 10 again as Sony wasn't simply useful.
Now I found a solution to it (sorry solution is too big word)
- I've turned "object tracking" off in camera
- I've turned autofocus on in camera
- I've turned 120hz off
Today we had hot day here in UK (27 Celcius ) I did my tests.
Streamlabs at 1080p , 7000kbps , 30fps run outdoor for about an hour smoothly. Connected to charger started to overheat.
Not to mention that tethering makes it hot quickly (so with Samsung).
Prism at 1080p 60fps run smoothly for couple of minutes and then crashed.
Didn't connect the charger.
I use Streamlabs to transmit 5-6 hours of stream into YouTube using mobile network in most if the times and whilst driving (so changing stations constantly)
I found that using WiFi it doesn't get as hot.
Also charging makes it very hot - SONY advertised it as able to by powered directly by a charger without charging battery, how and where do I find that option?
Is it available using car charger with quick charge 3.0?
I like the phone , like the shape , size and feel to it. Camera is OK (I own Sony a6500 )
Hate the fact of poor selfie camera in such expensive phone (I do live streams using selfie cam too)
Right I've ordered a return of my phone and have 30 days to send it back what alternatives do I have? Really like the SONY if it wasn't overheating I'd love it. Is there a solution to it? Cooler anything?
The things I like about the phone are:
*shape and overall feel in hand
*Cameras are ok don't really see if they great quality or not will still use my a6500 camera.
*Like the fact that can use sd card
*Love finger print reader in power button and seperate camera button
*like the fact that there's no rounded edges - hate them in my Samsung Note
I blame my problems with overheating by poorly made apps not the phone itself and not sure changing the phone will change it.
What are the options should I consider? Samsung S21 Ultra ? iPhone 12,13?
I'm a SONY fan and had many if their phones and that's why I'm looking for a solution otherwise would send it back straight away...
Can anyone help me with my problem?
Many thanks
Bart
Unfortunately greedy sony didn't provide any cooling solution to mark 3... Check disassembly videos, there is no any cooling solution at all, like you will find in asus - small vapor chamber etc. Literally nothing!
They knew snap 888 is overheating. They must have tested this device before releasing it, isn't it?
But no, still didn't apply any cooling solution. And that's a big shame and huge problem of this device.
Not sure if qualcomm provide any updated drivers to assess this problem or not. Or if sony will try to fix it. So far they did nothing and still it overheats. Mine too and you are right by saying that on 3G/5G it is hotter than on wifi.
I wonder how they can market battery as capable and better for 3 years with such hot device. Temperature of course has huge negative impact on battery longevity.
Sad but true
I'm quite shocked! Thanks for the info about disassembly videos...
I'm thinking if getting a cooler which you attach to the body.
What I forgot to mention that cameras itself (the lenses) don't get that hot is the area under them and closer to the centre. So must be processor and lack of cooling system.
Not sure what to do...
We have a hot weather now so I will test it intensively (if I was a Sony tester I'd never allow for the phone to be released like this).
Heating problems is why I keep saying that for any SOC/CPU/GPU manufacturer to keep upping the speeds of these things is STUPID! I can virtually guarantee that from now on every new CPU produced by all OEM's is going to overheat! Have you ever walked into a data center, with hundreds of servers running? You have to wear ear protection because the roar of all the internal cooling fans is deafening!
So then "we" attempt to put similar CPU's inside a device the size of a small remote control WITHOUT a fan and wonder why it overheats? There are only so many ways to keep the phone(s) cool. Use them while frozen solid in a block of ice, or better yet, stop running so many CPU/GPU intensive apps all at the same time. It's simple thermodynamics at work here. The more you have running at the same time, the harder the SOC needs to work, the hotter it is going to run. Another solution, that is literally unacceptable to most people, is to code in a lowering of the speed of the SOC. If this needs to be done then it becomes very clear that building a new, faster SOC every year is STUPID!
One more thing... I've heard that Xperia 1III is capable of powering the phone directly without battery charging to lower the heat...Does anyone know how do I turn this future on?

This is applicable with the game enhancer. You can add some apps there and when you open it, you can enable HS power control. Also sony just release a new firmware that answer you with this issue.. you can check my video

Thanks a lot , tomorrow I will be testing - doing long live stream on YouTube using Streamlabs, I always keep my phone under charger as I drive HGV sometimes for 3-4hrs non stop so battery would die.
It also going to be hot day here in UK and having the phone close to windscreen won't help - I know I shouldn't complain about overheating in such circumstances but my phone overheats even when taking photos although I have a feeling that after last system update its looking better , also as I mentioned before switching off object tracking has improved how smooth camera works using Streamlabs and Prism.
I'm considering buying a cooler for my phone too.
I will post my report tomorrow of how it went.
Many thanks

I found the future now in Game Enhancer app, you can power it directly. Not sure how it will perform yet. Tomorrow will send my report.
I often run streaming app in the background and not sure if Game Enhancer will work that way. I run nav app (Sygic Truck).
Heat problem has gone down significantly for me after the latest update yesterday. Usually the phone got really warm even with me just browsing using Chrome or going through Facebook. Now even when playing ROK or Mobile Legends it doesn't get that warm.
Hi All!!
Most of us dream of getting a top premium phone. But then this dream becomes a nightmare when the phone doesn't work as per our expectations. We start doubting our decision on whether the correct decision was made or not about purchasing the phone.
I don't know about the others but I went through the similar emotions in the past 3 days.
I bought S22+ through Flipkart BBD sale. The phone looked gorgeous when it was unboxed. Since the time I switched on the phone until yesterday, I observed the phone getting warm. Whether I use Camera for 5 mins or be on a phone call, the phone was constantly touching 40-41degrees. I realised that returning the phone is not an option due to the issue I reported. So, very hesitantly I took the phone to service center. Experience there was awesome. The rep was very assuring and said that this may happen if there is some issue with the batch file. He asked me to wait for 20 mins so that they will download the entire phone software again at one go. It was done. The phone is under observation and there is no heating seen as of now be it usage of camera or phone call. Phone temp not crossing 35 deg and the back pannel is relatively cool now. So in case if you are facing the issue, please visit the service center and get the software downloaded again. Hope this will help. I will share my observations soon.
Phone still hitting 41 deg when the camera is in use. Rest everything is fine. Battery, I would say is ok for me as I am not a heavy user.
Checked for software udate and Installed the Sep 1 security patch like 5 mins ago.
Will update soon.
Facing the same issue. Device starts heating even in light usage. Already installed latest software update but no luck!
Bought in BBD sale.

I understand how heartbreaking it is. Spending so much money and then facing the heating issue. My suggestion is visit the service center and ask them to download the software again. But then don't update it with the Sep 1st security patch. Use it for couple of days and observe and then download the patch. Also avoid playing heavy duty games on it. If it gets warm, just put it aside.
28th Sep
Phone is running just fine. Watching videos does drains the battery out but there is no warm feeling. Recorded videos for 7 mins and the phone felt pretty normal. No heat. I will continue to test the same.
29th Sep update
I installed additional work profile in the phone around 8 AM. When the profile was getting set up, the phone was heating a bit. I let it cool down for a bit. Then for the next couple of hours the phone was constantly hitting 35-36 degree even though there was no application running in the background. So after 5 hours of observation I uninstalled the work profile. It's 40 mins now and phone is resting at good 28 degrees.
Can you tell me which country your phone is made in. Mine is made in Korea and it doesn't heat up.
Also did your phone came with wrap on frame? Mine didn't. I bought from Samsung app a month ago.
Why are you so worried about 35°?
Its normal.
I reside in India and the phone is made in India. I wonder how you got Made in Korea. Where did you purchase your phone from?
No, my phone didn't come with wrap up frame.
Yup. 35° is fine. On my other device even if the the temp goes up to 37° it's still cool. But on this device I have seen phone heating up even at 35°. So, yes, it's a concern for me. I also know may be becuae of the processor or battery it's happening. But that should not happen in the first place as you said it's not happening with your device.
May be we can catch up sometime as I am from the same city, you are from.

Bought S22 plus by exchanging S20 plus on Samsung Shop.(app)
I'm actually from Warangal. Are you sure it's made in India?
Maybe thats why the discounted price, bcoz of the less tax.
I got my S22+ by exchanging my S21FE about a month back, on the back of the box it says Made in Korea and it has never heated I use the Dev check app to monitor for thermals and after prolonged phone calls or video calls or even binge watching movies on OTT, the max I have ever seen is 36-37 degrees

Maybe they discontinued that exchange offer.
Gave me 30k for S20Plus and 2k for using app.
End price was 53K.

i have been checking it for the last few months but it's not showing. my s20 plus got a display issue n decided to exchange it..i think new phones are made in India only..i have asked Samsung why they r mentioned Korea and sent an Indian-made one. even though no difference btw them
I remember the threads about the HTC One M9 "overheating" because of how the SD810 was designed (actually normal temperatures for that specific SOC). People were drenching the SOC in non-conductive thermal paste. It actually kinda worked.
You can't really do anything about it. The bigger problem is that the S22 is both poorly optimized and overheating.
Just as a simple benchmark test (not taking in consideration the Exynos version, becuase it's so far left behind it doesn't even matter anymore) of some SD 8g1 phones.
SG S22/S22+/S22 Ultra: 912K Antutu
Moto Edge 30 Pro: 1040K Antutu
Xiaomi 12 Pro: 1070K Antutu
"We start doubting our decision on whether the correct decision was made or not about purchasing the phone."
No, it really wasn't. It's an overpriced phone that they didn't even bother to properly optimize. In terms of performance it's a whole mid range phone behind the competition.
I don't like to be so negative, but there isn't anything positive to say. I like my Note 9, but it's clear that it's missing some basic features that other phones have by default.
Update - My phone was at the service center for close to 4 days for observation. They recorded 30 mins video and the phone temp went up to 40° via the heat gun. This time the phone was not that hot even at 40°. What the manager said is that if the phone hits 47°+ then probably there is a scope of exchange.
I didn't argue much as everything seemed to be normal when they even checked the phone via some tool they had.
Have been using the phone for 2 days now and it ok now. Not much of heating.
And yeah, Battery is also fine.
Note: I am not a heavy phone user. Hardly plays any game. Uses phone for routine calls and some photography.

My S20 plus had green line issue.
Service center denied free display replacement.
Lodged a complaint in consumer court and Samsung CEO help desk.
Samsung gave my phone new screen with frame at a cost of 700₹ labor charge.
I immediately checked for exchange on Amazon, Flipkart and did't find good deals.
Checked Samsung site. There was an exchange offer until August 31.
Grabbed the deal.

Don't believe the numbers from benchmark apps. Some leading phone manufactures are making the phone to perform without throttling when benchmark apps like Antutu or Geekbench etc. are run. This was proved and accepted by few manufactures. My S22+ heated only once and shown a message "your phone is too hot. let it cool down before using multi window again" and the multi window has been closed. That time I was playing a high end game along with using google meet video call opened in PIP. battery was decent I can say. I play games a lot

Yes, Samsung is known to boost performance when it detects benchmarking apps. A developer working at Citra made a build which makes Android think it's actually running Antutu.
Even so, even with the benhc boost, Samsung is still scoring far lower in benchmarks. Samsung is doing the same thing as everybody else and still failing at doing it properly.

I have purchased s22 plus from an official samsung store in India. I had some heating concerns but I went with it because the experience was awesome. I have not faced any heating issue what so ever. Phone do tend to get heated occasionally and many factors are involved including the surrounding temperature. I had an Iphone 12, that would also get a bit hot while charging. Nothing to report in this case, my unit is working fine.
May be they have worked on the optimization. Battery life is also fine thanks to Snapdragon although 8 gen1 is still not as efficient as some previous iterations but still much better than what I had faced with Exynos. The phone has a large excellent display that will take a but more battery of course as compared to a smaller phone but even with 120hz, it is taking me through the whole day easily. Second 50 percent of the battery percentage is where phone pulls up better screen on time.
There is no way to make the s22+ not heat. At least the units sold in India. Gaming or using camera for more than 5 mins will make it heat up. No matter what you do. I got the phone in BBD sale. Got it exchanged from flipkart too and the second unit also had heating issues. Luckily I am a business user to I don't spend much time playing games or camera, so the issue is barely noticeable in day to day usage to me. But if I go out on a weekend trip, where I will take lots of pics and videos, I know this phone is going to get hot and loose a lot of battery. So I carry powerbank for the situation. Before this I was using Realme GT Neo 2 and that phone never heated up even if video in 4k was recorded for 30 mins straight. I never felt the need to carry powerbank with me too plus realme had 67w fast charging. I just bought this phone cause of samsung name
