Theme stuck on touchwiz - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My galaxy s6 edge is not rooted and has never been fiddled with. Recently after updating it to marshmallow and using it for some days I applied material dark theme and when I try to revert back to any other theme then it is stuck with some part of material dark (like toggles, dialer, settings) and remaining from the new theme. Tried clearing cache, rebooting, deleting all the themes except for the stock but even then the stock theme shows the same issue. Factory wipe is not an option for me as I have a lot of data on my phone. Anyone else facing this issue? If yes, were you able to rectify it without a factory reset?

Theme Troubles!!!!

Hi all, i'm using Froydvillian, and have applied both the Samsung Galaxy and Mininmal Matt ports which have been ported over for this specific ROM, and for some reason, on both, the drop down notification menu and the taskbar at the top are staying standard.
Both work when i wipe the device from recovery then flash, but once i restart the phone the problem occurs again!!!! why is this happening!! please reply asap as i'm going on holiday in 3 days and wish for this to be resolved.
Thanks in advance,

Not sure what you mean here. Did you flash one theme over another? Also, to undo themes, a wipe isn't enough. You need to fully reflash the stock ROM to get rid of themes.
Also, after installing a theme, don't install another over it unless you fully reflash the ROM again.
Thanks for the quick reply what i mean is, i flashed The latest Froydvillian ROM, and have been using it for a few days. However, when i downloaded and flashed the Samsung Galaxy theme for it, certain aspects of the theme didn't work, such as the notification pull down menu, and the taskbar at the top. They both stayed standard with the later text or symbols, but the colours and design was not the them.
I found out if i boot into recovery and wipe all settings, then flash the theme it works correctly, however if i reboot the phone it reverts back to the mismatched and ugly theme!
I have encountered this problem many times *zeik* it's so stupid! Anyways for my themes it worked for me to modify the update-script so it deletes the files before copying (since you probably have no idea what i'm talking about copy/paste it and PM the developer xD). I am very bussy right now so I can't do it but I'm sure the themer will do it for you (it's a very simple task)

Problems with flashing rom

I'm having an issue when flashing new roms. I broke my original 3d and when I got my new one I rooted it the same way (hboot 1.3) as my original one that I got when the phone first came out. Flashing the rom goes fine but the first time I reboot my phone after it boots the rom all of the android apps on my home screen disappear (gmail, market, weather and clock widget) but my installed apps remain. Also, my lockscreen goes black except for the ring and the time. Weather and the shortcuts disappear. Only way I have found to fix it is wipe data, cache, and delvik cache and reflash, but again once I reboot it does the same thing. I can get some pictures of both later if necessary.

Try Flashing a Different ROM... See if that Helps? That's Weird man...
Yea tried that. Think I figured it out though. I was using the backup using TBU from my old phone. I flashed a new rom without restoring stuff and about to check it now.
Edit: That was it. Strange though, never had something like that happen, or any problem with TBU before.

[Q] S3 Stuck on Slim Bean setup menu?

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S3 i9300 currently running CM10.1. I just tried to flash Slim Bean 2.2 on my S3 as that's the only download available. However after flashing the ROM and G-Apps in CWM, when I boot the phone gets stuck at where the setup menu should be. Like when it should ask for Wi-Fi password etc, it just shows a black screen but the notification bar is there and working. At first nothing would work, but after a cache wipe, it said Android is upgrading (54 apps) but was still a black screen. However I could access settings and change anything I wanted, but the home button wouldn't take me to home screen. I print screened to try get to home through the gallery but the button still doesn't work. I booted without G-Apps to see if that was the cause and same problem. I have wiped everything and reflashed several times, still doesn't work. I have to flash through my external SD because when I put the .zip on my internal they don't show up in CWM. I am back on CM10.1 from a backup however I would much rather Slim Bean as I can tell from my "demo" access to it, it seems far far smoother. How can I fix the issue so I can use it?
Thanks

Could be a long way off here, but are you sure the download wasn't corrupted, a statusbar and black screen sounds to me like the launcher wasn't opening, or wasn't flashed.
Also what version of CWM are you using? I would download rom manager and flash the latest version, then try flashing slim again.

First of all, the newest version of Slim Bean available for the S3 is 3.1, which you can download here:

I would suggest doing a full wipe and installing this (much newer) version... I'm using it and it's awesome. Hope this helps.

Screens inverted and unreadable

I wanted to try out an AOSP 4.3.1 rom (IllusionRom-2.6 ) coming from a TouchWiz 4.1.2 rom (Trans-Nebula Build 2). I made a nandroid of my current rom using TWRP before installing the AOSP rom. I factory data rest and wiped system, dalvik, and cache 3 times. I installed the AOSP rom with no problem. The problem came when I tried to go back to the TouchWiz rom. On three programs so far (K-9, Google Drive, RoundR), the screen is black and barely readable. I tried restoring my nandroid, factory rest and a fresh install of the rom, and formatting data. I even tried restoring my original stock backup. Nothing has fixed the problem. The only thing I haven’t tried is to Odin back to stock. The reason for being hesitant on Odin is I had so many problems the first time on Windows 8 and using CASUAL to root. I have considered changing to ClockworkMod Recovery and using Mobile Odin to get back to stock. Before doing that, I would take any suggestions for correcting the colors.
If I restore the AOSP rom, the colors are correct. I don’t want anyone to think anything is wrong with either rom. Both worked fine, just I prefer some of the TouchWiz features.

GAPPS Fail on Nandroid Recovery

I have been running various flavors of AOKP ROM's on SG3's for several years now. I recently obtained a refurb S3 and set it up to do the usual.
It came with stock TW 4.4.
Using ROM Manager I installed CWM and made an image of the stock phone. I then installed my AOKP variant and loaded my apps, blah blah. All is good.
I've since decided I want to revert back to TW for awhile. I restored my nandroid and I get the interminable GAPPS failure messages. I have on occasion been able to get it to calm down and have a working phone, usually be uninstalling play app and clearing framework services cache. This is extraordinarily painful and doesn't always work. I've done all the usual, reinstall GAPPS, etc., and basically it is a MAJOR headache just trying to get the image to function.
But....When it does work the phone does not see my SIM card, IMEI, nothing.. I have no mobile connectivity. Restoring the AOKP nandroid brings me back to a fully functioning phone.
So my questions are:
Can anyone explain to me why the TW nandroid is giving all these GAPPS issues and how to circumvent/fix it?
Why is the system seeming to lose my IMEI/SIM info? Is there a way to fix that? Should I have done something different in my setup/nandroid creation?
Lastly - I don't quite understand how CWM works. There is a recovery image. When I do factory reset, is it resetting to this recovery image as opposed to the factory TW? I seem to think so, when I do a reset I see the android version is not what my factory one is.
Thanks all.
