Hi all,
I just bought an LG V10 yesterday, and the fingerprint scanner was working absolutely fine, but after a restart it just stopped working. Whenever I went to the fingerprint scanner settings it would say that "there is a problem on the fingerprint scanner" and instruct me to restart, but no number of restarts helped.
I've tried googling it, doing a factory & settings reset and even an alcohol swab, it seems nothing worked. After upgrading to Marshmallow, still nothing.
I'm using the Verizon version incase that's relevant.
You got a bad phone. Happens. Exchange it at Verizon, being a day old it won't be an issue.

Ok. Problems I have encountered the 2 days I have used the phone:
Constant freeze. The first hour I used the phone it froze and rebooted 7 or 8 times.
Missing SocialLocation.apk. This caused a problem for the GPS in smart actions to work at all. Rooted phone and installed the app, and problem disappeared.
Tried to hard reset the phone because of all the rebooting problems. Guess what, on the first menu coming up where you can choose language, the phone froze and rebooted again. Now still it is constantly freezing and rebooting.
The freezing issues does not really have one specific app causing it. It can happen whenever doing whatever!
Anyone got a solution for this? Maybe a OTA update for Norwegian model?
Well, as my dad's phone is still fine as of now with not a single reboot in 2 days, I'd suggest you get in contact with your carrier and ask for a replacement. This seems to be a phone defect and you should be able to get your replacement easily. Be sure to not mention rooting and installing SocialLocation.apk though!!
You rooted and removed some files from the System, did you not?
In this morning when I've picked up my phone from the wireless charger I've got a lot of Facebook has stopped working, Dropbox has stopped working and a lot of other apps. And the proximity sensor is not working anymore, and the light sensor shows only 4lx value. I've tried to restart the phone a few times, but same problem.
I can't reset to factory settings because I really need the phone today.
So any suggestions?
L.E. I've booted in Safe Mode and it is working. So I guess it is an software issue!

I ran the Update for the November Security Patch (I think it is ASKI) - and when It booted up, I discovered that Fingerprint Unlock was not working well any more.
When I try to add a fingerprint, it gets up to about 41 % and won't go further - It starts showing a message that the screen sholld be cleanned, yada yada yada - but of course, I cleaned the screen several times -removed the screen protector I had installed - and cleaned it again and still have the problem. After about 30 tries, I was able to get 1 fingerprint established and it opened or unlocked the phone when I needed to - but attempting to add another fingerprint gives me the same results as the first. Clearly there is something wrong.
Has anyone else experienced this ? and did you find a fix ?
Yep, happened to me to, quite a few people on android central have the same problem to, sammy seems to have dropped the ball with this update [emoji19]
I did manage to get my thumb registered but it took about an hour of constant trying different ways of placing my thumb for it to work [emoji35]

I have had no problem with adding new fingerprints after the update.
Hi, I bought my s6 about months ago. And after one day my fingerprint scanner stoped recognized any of prints and I can't eaven add any new after removing old. The only thing that helps was factory reset. Now works like a charm especially after lest update.
Yep. Problems with my prints also.
After reboot i can read my prints, but new ones.....
Sometimes the reader does not work and I need a reboot.
Conflict with an application?
Yes the November 1 update broke my fingerprint censor toooooo....
Actually after the update all sensors other than the pen stopped
It worked for a short time and then gradually only the pen works all other functions stopped
Touch screen stopped working
Any ideas?
I was offered no update in november... weird
Hi,
I've read this thread and disabled battery optimisation for "com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting"* on my Note 10+ and Tab S6 (Wifi).
On both devices the fingerprint scanner is faster :good:
... and it seems to fix recurrent unlock problems with my Tab S6 too
* on some devices it's named "com.samsung.android.biometric"
Important:
it's not known yet if this might have any negative side effects (as battery drain or burning out the fingerprint sensor).
I also did it. But it doesn't make the fingerprint scanner faultless...
Hi, am I the only one having a problem with the fingerprint reader after upgrading to Android 10? ?
I have probably tried everything. Factory reset and clear cache partiotion do not help. The problem returns randomly. The reader stops working, and when I try to get to the settings I have the message: "Finger print sensor calibration needed " or "finger print sensor doesn't respond, try to reboot your device . If the problem persists, contact support "
I checked everywhere and there is no such thing as calibrating the fingerprint reader. Technical support also couldn't help me with the problem, they only recommended to send the tablet for service. ?
The problem has never appeared before the update so I bet that the problem is new software.
Any advice what else I could try?
The reader, when it starts to work, works much better than before the update, unfortunately more and more often it does not work at all.
The strangest thing is that sometimes it starts working after a regular restart. I have no idea what to think about it.
Something similar... It sometimes works like a charm. It sometimes stops working, but no message and no way to use it in order to activate the tab. In that case I have to use an alternative method to. I suppose a fix could be released after this update to Android 10...
solved
Hi there,
I've solved this issue. I have tab s6 4-5 month and I couldn't even register the fingerprint. today I tried again and I found out that you have to touch the scanner very gently, do not press firmly. so I could register 3 fingerprints and it is working. even with unlocking if you press harder it won't work you have to touch slightly and it is working. still it is not reliable as other scanners but it works. i'm providing the video, you can see when I touch gently it is working, but If I press harder it won't register.

Hi community
I'm having a strange problem with my V30 H930. At some point a few days ago the vibration motor stopped working. Since then, if I charge the phone wirelessly, it still charges but it doesn't indicate anymore that it's charging, just as if it wouldn't charge at all. Those two issues seem not to be related at first but they always occur at the same time as described below:
First step: I tried all possible settings to reenable the vibration motor but even in the service menu (dialling *#546368#*930#) in the manual test it was dead.
Second step: I backed everything up and did a factory reset. This didn't change anything, both issues remained.
third step: I re flashed the firmware using LGUP with the "refurbish" option to really get a clean device. And both the vibration and the charging indicator both worked again! Happily I started to reinstall my apps but after a few minutes (I think about 10min or so) both problems reappeared and remained.
fourth step: I again reflashed the firmware using LGUP (which again seemed to solve the issues) and proceded to log into my google account but then didn't do anything. No configuration, no installing apps and not using the phone at all. Still after 5-10 min again the issues resurfaced.
fifth step: I again flashed the firmware and directly after the setup wizzard (logging into google account, accepting terms and conditions etc.) I disabled wifi and cellular data to prevent any updates. Still it initially worked but after 5min the vibration motor was dead and the charging indicator faulty.
I still don't know how both issues are related (but they always seem to appear and disappear at the same time). Also although I suspect it must be a software issue (because it worked a few minutes after reflashing the firmware), I'm really at a loss how to tackle the problem. Would you think a custom firmware might work? How much of a safety risk is it to run banking apps on custom firmware?
Can anyone help me? What may I do to get the vibration to work again?
Thank you very much in advance
Jamkas
Hey! It's been a while since your original post, but I started to have the same issue with V30 recently... Have you maybe found a solution? I'd appreciate your response
