Is there any way to on Clear Audio+ system wide on Marshmallow? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe it can be done with some firmware besides KitKat ofcourse when Clear Audio+ was system wide. I can live with Sony Music player which exlusively uses Clear Audio + feature but I can't use only Sony Movies player whicn can't handle with 10 bit videos because 90% of my videos are in 10 bit. I didn't find any applications which compatible with Clear Audio+. So any advice?

[Q] Video playback on Folio and codecs

I've asked this q. earlier in the ROM thread, before we got a separate forum, but didn't get any answer, so I'll try now in a dedicated thread.
I have a problem with some (not all) videos playback on Folio (foliomod 1.3b). Some videos don't play audio in standard media player or toshiba media player.
GSpot says audio in these videos are encoded as 0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3 - 48000Hz 384 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1). Video codec is XviD ISO MPEG-4.
I installed Rockplayer and when I try to play those videos in Hardware mode, they don't have audio as well. In Software decoding mode I do have audio, but video playback seems a bit 'creepy-crawly'/laggy.
I also tried several other video/media players from the Market, but none of them can reproduce audio in those video files.
kaivish had a remark about video playback earlier, I don't know if it's relevant:
but if u will use the folio for regular media playing like me, it might be better to reduce the dalvik cache to 32MB.
i have tested using rock player, and with current 64MB cache, it laggs and seeking is not working in both hardware and software decoding. there are audio issues as well with that kind of huge dalvik cache. but putting it down to 32M makes everything more fluid and media playback is at its best IMHO.

If yes, would changing dalvik cache help me with audio in these videos? And how do I change it?
I have the no sound problem too with rockplayer!
I didn't had it with the other foliomod editions, i think its software related?
I play my movies in hardware mode (it's better for the battery as far as I know..)
The wierd thing is, after restart I do get sound sometime, also I sometimes get sound after a couple of seconds.

Sound issues come from the cache size. Like I am quoted above, u have to tweak the folio to your personal use. For me those numbers work best.

Changing dalvik cache will increase performance of already supported codec videos. Some codecs are not really supported and they might play but will have video and audio issues. It will not matter what cache size you have if the codec is not really supported on tegra2 platform.

thanks for reply.
So the answer is that we can't do anything about it?
I mean, on Windows you can install any codecs you like. Can the same be done on Android?
If the only possibility is to use Software mode in Rockplayer, then dalvik cache can help make it not so laggy, can't it? How do you change dalvik cache in Android?
Sorry for stupid questions, I'm not an advanced programmer.
It may also help other users, I hope.

I am no advanced dev either. you can use a free app called vmheap on the android market. In android, there are no codecs pack which is installable, the codec needs to be built in support. So the answer is that nothing can be done, just optimise currently supported codec playback.
Hope that helps you.
Perhaps our best bet is to wait for CoreCodec to release their Android player CorePlayer which should have support for Tegra. I got an email yesterday saying that they are demoing their software including the CorePlayer for Android at CES.
So perhaps we do not have to wait that long.
On another note, I just saw a video on Engadget showing Toshibas next tablet and in that video they demoed an application which scales up sd video to HD...
Here's the link to the video.
thanks, mddsd. Let us know if you hear anything about the android coreplayer. I used that program on my old windows mobile 6.5 phone and it was very good.
kaivish, thanks for explanations. I tried that app and changed from 64 to 32, but didn't see any difference in software mode playback in Rockplayer. Audio is there, but picture doesn't move very smoothly. So, dalvik cache is probably not a solution for this particular problem.
Another option could be the announced VLC player that seems to be in development vlc have always been known to be able to play alot of video/audio formats out of the box

I saw an interesting youtube clip about the LG Optimus 2x which has the same Tegra 2 SOC as the Folio.
The LG had an app which could force the resolution output on the HDMI port to e.g. 1080p, 720p, 576p, 480p or do it automatically based on content. This is something we should have for the Folio.
I just read some interesting news, LG showed off their Optimus 2X phone (which has Tegra 2) at a press event in Sweden. According to the site www.swedroid.se which was at the event, LG demoed the phone playing a movie in H264 1080p in the container MKV. So perhaps LG has a player which can use the Tegra 2 chip and play MKV in 1080p... The playback was smooth according to the article.

lets have the firmware, then we get the pleasure of the functions
i'm still waiting for new mobile devices and the XOOM tablet to appear..
The other tegra2 tablets are pretty much chinese made tablet, and those are pretty similar in code, so not much to share between those.
So let the revolution of new tegra's come and we probably get better codec's and nice new features maybe..

Sony Xperia Sola - Running Music Videos on it

Hi All,
Beside all the different feature that I am using this phone for, me being quite a lawt Music videos fanatic like some of my favourite music video available and runnable on it in best quality.
Now for this, as per the knowledge that I have gather from around the interwebz have installed MX Player Pro 1.7.10 Neon and ARMV7 NEON Codecs. Before this I was not able to run my favourite Videos in high quality 720p/ 1080p generally in *.mkv format and few of them with sound format as *.dts. Now , still the *.dts sound is not playable and the 1080p videos plays with a lot of lag.
So I was wondering what is workaround to this, I mean if required a conversion to format so as there is minimum quality/ transparency/ detailing loss while playing this on my cellphone.
I tried checking around for some convertor like Arcsoft Media Converter 8, however the video quality I was getting out of it was not upto the mark, infact really bad...though I selected top setting in Mobile phone category. May be I am missing on something or not.
Advice on this will be really appreciable.
Looking forward to hear from you guys!!

Stock Music app vs Google Play Music - sound quality?

I've recently been playing with the different music apps on the S6 Edge, and in the process I've noticed that there is a difference in terms of sound quality between the stock Samsung Music app and the Google Play Music app. I compared the two apps (plus a few more from the Play Store), without any EQ, sound effect or anything like that, and noticed that they sound different. Why might that be? Might there be a difference in how they output sound to the audio hardware?
You can tweak audio settings in both but they both lead to the same menu. Google streams so it is WIFI quality dependant whereas the stock app local media

I'm looking for a simple and good music player

I'm looking for a simple, beautiful and good music player to listen to my mp3 files
I think the Spotify music player is perfect, with the dark and clean visual and the album art at the perfect size
I just looking for a simple music player, doesn't need to have equalizer or anything like this
Is there anyway to download the Spotify music player to listen to my mp3 files? Or there is a music player with the same visual like Spotify?
I personally really like Shuttle but I'm not sure if it fits your definition of 'simple' or not.
I would like the Spotify visual

BlackPlayer Music Player seems to be close to what you're looking for.
The bottom volume bar can be removed from the settings.
Also note that the album art image is set to fit the screen height by default, which means it will be zoomed in at first. You can set it to be centered, like I did, from the settings too.
AIMP. Nothing comes close in terms of reliability and simplicity. Foobar2000 is coming to Android soon as well.
Phonograph is clean and material, without sacrificing information with blank spaces.
You can delete songs straight from Phonograph. Hadn't had any lag or ceashes.Nice looking tablet UI too.
Help with ID3 Tagging
Hi,
I am sure that this isn't the proper place to post this question,
but I need somebody's help!
Please take a look at the attached screenshot,
I accidently tagged Eminem's album with a special character "E".
No matter what music player i use to edit the tag, whether it be Poweramp, Rocket Player, Hi Music, or Shuttle Player, I can't seem to get it to go back! I've tried everything!
I've even tried downloading an ID3 Tag editor from the Play Store...several actualy, but for some reason my phone is set on keeping Eminem's Encore album with a special character E.
I even tried deleting the album, booting into recovery, wiping davlik cache and the cache partition, rebooting my device, and re-adding the album, but I still experience the same issue.
Does anybody know of an app or a fix for editing tags with special characters? Once I went special character, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to go back.
All suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks World!

Real Sound not working

I wanted to fiddle with the EQ a bit to see what it's capable of, but it seems not to be working outside of the Music app. I tried different apps (YouTube, YT Music, Spotify) and only the Music app works. I'm on version RMX2001_11_A.38. My question is: can I enable RS system wide? Or am I limited to the Music app?
It's limited to music only apps! Ex- mi music, realme music, G Play music, etc.
Nope. It's not limited because I can get slight difference in youtube and other video and music apps
