Hi there, I have a T-Mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) and I want to go back to the stock T-Mobile ROM, but I've been told that if I re-flash then it'll brick my phone?
I'm running the latest version of VillainROM 10.3.2 and I found that I may need a Nandroid backup or something? If someone could possibly re-direct me to where I need to find a Nandroid recovery image for my phone, I'd be greatful!
Can you just confirm that I CAN/CAN'T re-flash my phone to Stock?
Help is appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: I used flashrec to make a back up of the recovery image or some sort? On my SD card is "recovery-backup.img"? Does this help?
Thanks!
I am not sure how it will brick your phone and maybe someone here can advise you on this.
The recovery-backup.img is just an image of the stock bootloader that comes with your phone. If you wish to apply official OTA updates, you will need to restore to your stock bootloader using the flashrec app even after u have reverted to the stock ROM.
Hope it helps =)
Hello all,
This may be the wrong forum to post on, but I have a somewhat big problem. I have an HTC Desire 816w that came from China. I were hoping by rooting it, it would remove the restriction of Google and I could actually USE the phone. So I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, flashed CWM, then flashed a ROM (KingSense DS). However, when I flashed the ROM, I was given the option to wipe the phone. I had 4 GB of bloatware so why the heck not. However this made the phone weird and it now only boots to fastboot. I tried flashing the DS ROM again but to no avail. We then tried other ROMs but they also did not work (would force close and abort installation).
So this is my question: how would I be able to fix this? I had an idea of finding the stock recovery.img and boot.img so it would at least boot into stock but I have no idea where to find them. I unfortunately couldn't back up the stock roms so I don't have that. Any solutions? Would anyone have a stock recovery.img and boot.img that they're willing to share? Is this phone still "repairable"? Please help! :S

Hi,
I bought a Alcatel Onetouch T'POP 4010D Phone.
Because the internal Space is so small, I wanted to use Apps2ext, and the simplest way seemed to flash a rom.
So I rooted the phone, installed cwm and installed Xperia Z rom.
Sadly, I flashed a wrong rom, so my phone now only detects one SIM.
I made a Backup with CWM, but this doesn't seem to be enough. I can restore, but I still have the wrong ROM!
I have another Phone, totally unmodified! How can I read the Stock ROM of my second phone, restore it to the first and have it working.
I don't accidentally want to flash config settings that are phone specific (e.g. IMEIs).
I guess MTK Tool is the way to go?
Can you please tell me, what exactly I have to restore to get the Stock rom on my second phone but don't brick it?
Yes, its possible to restore from the a mtk_droid_tools backup of thre other

Click to collapse
Its possible this way without any problems of bricking
Do a a backup with mtk_droid_tools of the second phone (unmodified or stock). Restore the backup with sp_flash_tool unto the first phone (with problems). Follow all procedures correctly and you will have a successful restore
I successfully rooted my Starmobile Diamond S3 last month. It wasn't as easy as my other phones because it uses a Broadcom chip. If anyone is interested in how I did it, I can share that.
Unfortunately I got a little aggressive playing with the root this morning and I succeeded in messing up phone. Now my phone doesnt have a status bar or homekeys at bottom. I can not even install a wallpaper.
I have a Nandroid recovery however I can not install CWM because my device is not supported. Does anyone know how i can either install CWM so i can back up my device using my Nandroid backup, or maybe someone knows another way to restore using a nandroid CWM backup without actually having CWM installed.
If anyone has a Stock Rom that i can use so i can restore my phone please help.
Thanks a lot.
PS Please pardon my English. Its my second language.
Hi guys,
I am new with all this custom ROM stuff and I really love your work!
Saturday I got my OPX, so far I love this phone, but there is a problem with the on/off-button so I decided to send it back and order a new one. Now my phone is running Sultans CM13, can I just make a backup with TWRP of my phone and after I unlock the the new one just recover from this backup or will this cause any problem?
Thanks in advance
nasaj
That should work.
Just copy the folder of the backup.
