Hi all,
Firstly can I say thankyou to all of you at these forums, I've been a lurker for a while, waiting for my Prime to arrive, and I'm very grateful for all your insights!
I have now recieved it and seem to avoided most of the well-documented problems on here, but seem to have managed a new one (at least i couldn't find a similar one through searching).
So I updated the Prime with the new firmware and it all seemed to go well. After a while the notification popped up to do the camera firmware (as I had been expecting from these threads). I set it going, and after a short while it said it was complete. The next time I powered on however, the notification to update the camera firmware was back, so I did it again (thinking it must be additional one). But it keeps doing the same thing - saying it's successful, only to re-appear after a re-start.
My current versions are
Build - 8.8.3.33 (which i know is what it should be)
Camera - 0xFFFFFFFF (which I know is wrong!)
Anyone else had a similar problem? Or any ideas?
I have no idea if it's possible, but I am also wondering whether this is what's causing my auto-rotate not to work. Just to confirm, I have the auto-rotate set on, and the gyroscope doesn't seem to be working for anything else (tried it on riptide demo)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
you should try reflashing .33 from the ASUS hosted file...i think there are a few threads about where to get it.

Mine is completely borked. After installing ICS I got a notification for a camera firmware update. The update failed several times, and now when I launch the camera app it says it won't work without updated firmware...
EDIT: I rebooted and as soon as it started up it bugged me to install the camera update again. I made sure the screen stayed on while it updated this time and things seem to have worked out. Camera is working just fine!
Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I have tried and have not seen the message. Will keep you updated if it has conpletely gone

Update: It happened again when I reboot my phone today. Is it possible a firmware bug?
I should wait for the next release, hope Sony will fix this issue.
Regards,
I'm on romaur which is 402 and haven't seen this error since I wiped contacts data so not sure, you still on stock or?

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

possible fix
i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.
I have a stock vs985 that is having problems with the rear camera and I can't seem to solve the problem. Initially I thought it was just a bad camera so I replaced it yesterday but I am still unable to use it. When using snapchat or camera apps downloaded from the app store It says " cannot connect to camera". In addition, to this the flashlight does not work either.
This first began after I replaced the screen and digitizer because it began to fade out. I don't recall leaving anything unconnected, but is there anything other than the camera itself that could cause this if left unconnected? I believe that was shortly after a software update also. I am currently using 5.1.1 lollipop(vs98535b). I tried to update to marshmello (vs98549a) manually using the LG software assistant but it says im up to date. Although this is a verizon phone my carrier is currently Tracfone.
The stock camera app that came with the phone is also no where to be found except for the home screen. If I open it all I have is a black screen and I cannot find it under "application manager" in the settings. The camera apps that I have downloaded all say "cannot connect to camera".
I believe this is a software problem and I am looking for a way to root this thing and install the latest version of available software.
So I've tried everything I can think of, without voiding warranty, to fix this.
One day the phone was turned on and the fingerprint sensor didn't work. Fine, but checking the settings, it was gone there too! There were some residual settings like the "suggestions" for "Screen Lock" that suggested "unlock with your fingerprint". However, clicking that immediately returns me to settings. It's like the fingerprint sensor and settings have vanished.
Now, I've tried factory resets. I've even reinstalled the current firmware, but nothing seems to be working...

:good: It is likely a hardware failure.
Hi, did you solve the issue? Same thing happened to me. Was it a hardware or software issue?
After applying the last Software Update on my Huawei mate 10 pro the fingerprint sensor started to work randomly. Sometimes it works and then it does not. I do not think it is a matter of hardware otherwise it wouldn't work at all. What can I do to solve the problem?

Id take it to the service center and have them take a look at it .... Hopefully both replace the sensor and flash the proven working os to the board. With the latest updates I lost the game boost app in the same way that you are describing loss of the f sensor. It dissapeared from system all together, not frozen , not disabled , just gone and all reference to it removed from settings. I flashed couple firmwares since then trying to both downgrade and fix it but no matter what version I was on it never returned lol. It died on 6th/7th flash - hard brick and Im picking it 2morrow from service . All in all , since 9.0 , 9.1 certain issues I had there seemed to follow through every subsequent firmware update. If it doesnt work now it prolly will be bugged in the future as well by that logic. My erecovery was also broken ( Everything works but it never can find firmware to download ) when I started and just like gpu boost it never returned . When I gave them phone under warranty few times back they basically replaced whatever I complained about , back cover, display , battery , charging port , headphone adapters all free of charge
Huawei Mate 10 Pro Fingerprint is not working after EMUI 10.0 Update
My FINGERPRINT ID is not working after the Software Update to EMUI 10.0. Now I cannot unlock my phone using fingerprint. Fingerprint menu too is missing in the Biometrics & Passwords menu of Settings. My fingerprints have vanished from my phone together with the option to input new fingerprints. When I go to the SETTINGS menu, I see nothing related to FINGERPRINTS. In other words, FINGERPRINT ID is not a method of unlocking my phone according to the SETTINGS.
I downgraded the phone to EMUI 9.1, but nothing changed. So, again I updated the software to EMUI 10.0. I cannot understand why this is happening so. It is Huawei. World's No. 2 phone manufacturer trying hard to be the No. 1. World's largest communication equipment manufacturer. It is a shame. It is a total failure of HUAWEI. I handed over the phone to the Huawei Service Centre in Sri Lanka. For two days, they are "STILL CHECKING".
Problems happen! With all the brands!
Me and many others updated to EMUI 10 without any problems.
When I update to other Android OS version, I always do a factory reset, just to avoid any possible problems.

I did a factory Reset too after the software update to EMUI 10.0. But no change at all.
Might be a coincidence, or not. Maybe something in the flash process went wrong.

Yes, it may be a coincidence or may be something gone wrong in the flash process. But the problem is that this has happened to many other people through out the world. Also, many people complain about various other problems after the software update. That means Huawei has failed to provide their customers an accurate and safe process to update their software. It is a serious failure from the part of Huawei, the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.
The finger print problem solved in my Mate 10 pro
100 % its software problem after android 10 update am reset all setting twice and now the finger print work with out any problems
Happened to mine as well.
Decided to update over weekend and fingerprint id has vanished from settings.
Tried to reset several times but no luck.
My fingerprint sensor stopped working from one day to the next about a year ago and it did not help to factory reset data or reflash the fw
With the update that arrived today (55.2.A.4.154) not only the option in the security menu reappeared but I was able to register the first fingerprint... too bad that when I registered the second one it stopped reading the fingerprint and the option in the security menu disappeared again after a reboot.
Has anything similar happened to anyone with the latest update?
My fingerprint was gone after the 110 update. And i hope it will comeback after this update. I think iy is a software problem. Because my fg sensor was perfect, until that ****ty update.

I think so too, I don't remember if mine stopped working after an update but it's still strange that after this update it started working again and shortly after stopped
Go to security and Google Play system updates..
Update it.
You will have the Fingerprint.
Mine was disabled earlier and did this to fix it.
Here is the last thing.
Fingerprint disappeared from Settings
Hi everyone, I noticed recently that my phone doesn't unlock with my Fingerprint (I set 3 fingers) and It doesn't show FP icon in bottom of screen before unlocking... So, I went to settings to remove all the saved fingerprints and add them...

I hope this will help.
Mnope. For me it didnt help. I lost my patience and gave it to the service. I hope to a refound. I am sick of this bull****.
