For fastboot or flashmode, press either the up or down button and plug the usb in. When the LED is lit, release the button.

Can you edit the thread title? This won't help other users finding relevant info at all unless they click it because of the clickbait-like title.

You can get into fastboot without flashtool if drivers are correctly installed.
Stupid question: Have you already unlocked your bootloader? If you haven't done any modding before (e.g. flashing custom ROM) you might haven't done it so. That can explain why your phone goes charging when you plug USB cable instead of fastboot mode. Try also some Linux live distributions. Some of them have adb and fastboot included.
I have done flashing and modding.
But right now I am not able to put the phone in fastboot mode
I am expecting some helpful comments instead of asking me to search for answers.
Because I have already searched for those, came here finally.
Please provide helpful comments to put the phone in fastboot.
I am not able to find the answer
How did you unlock your bootloader?? I mean by which method did you do it?

First, you didn't provide importrant information. Which ROM you currently have, which one you are trying to flash, have you tried to update firmware via OTA, because there are some situations where you can accidentaly relock your bootloader. I assume you didn't brick your phone earlier with FOTA, like in my case.
Next, when you try to connect into fastboot mode, try it without FlashTool and open device manager and watch if it responds when you try to connect phone with usb while holding menu key. Fastboot is a command line application which can work without FlashTool (which is a GUI frontend to fastboot).
Second, you didn't read my post thoroughly. I suggested you to try a Linux live distribution, e.g. ubuntu. Just boot it from CD or USB and when it is ready you can connect phone in fastboot mode, just hold a menu key and plug the usb cable and see if blue light goes on. It will probably not solve your problem on Windows, but will give us some answers.
I too am facing the same problem!
Im currently using CyanogenMod 10 with the same Kernel which was pre-installed on the Neo V when I bought it.
I wish to change the Kernel to Lupus as it is compatible with most of the ROMs. I tried flashing the kernel with Flashtools and Kernel Flasher but to no avail.
Kindly help!

I have the same problem. I want to get into fastboot mode but nothing happens. The computer only gives a sound of connection the device and that's it. No blue led when pressing home and connecting to the computer.
How can I flash the kernel?
I have adb drivers installed
When I normally have neo running then there's no problem in turning int Fastboot pressing a lighting in flashtool

[Q] Can't get into Fastboot!

Hello guys,
I know there's probably tons of theards, but I'm sure I read most of them and I'm still with a problem.
I'm trying to unlock my bootloader on my Xperia Go (ST27i) and I can't get into fastboot mode!
I've installed Android SDK, I've install the drivers from Flashtool, I still can't get it working.
What to you guys recommend me? Uninstall everything and install again (Will that even work?)
Thank you,
Kript3r.

First the phone must be turned off and disconnected from the USB cable, then you press volume up and connect the USB cable while you holding it dwn.
Another way is to enabled USB debugging in developer options, connect the phone to the pc, then in flashtool click the flash icon, select fastboot, and in the window the comes up click reboot into fastboot (via adb).
Try both methids.

Any particular reason you need fastboot?
You cannot flash custom kernels and non stock based ROMs but you can still root it.

I asked for the reason, and if its "to unlock my bootloader" you can forget about it alltogether. Unlocked boot loader by itself has no advantage over lokecked bootloader.

You are entering to fastboot mode not flashmode. Hold vol+ and connect, it will detect ur phone.
Adopt SD
I just updated to Marshmallow today and tried to adopt SD
but there isn't any option to "format as Internal Storage"
i can only format as Portable Storage and when i try to change used storage of an app to SD it says "Not enough storage space."
is this even possible?
Edit: sorry i supposed to post it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/official-marshmallow-6-0-1-xperia-z2-t3354953/

Try miflash to flash a new rom. If this does not work, then remove the back panel of you phone and disconnect the battery cable. Watch video on youtube for help. After that leave the phone disconnected for 30 mins and then reconnect it. Press vol down and power and you should be able to enter fastboot mode.
If nothing works go for test point method. see videos for better understanding.

After rooting you can install via TWRP, SkyMelon v.8 kernel, you will see difference in speed and smoothness of your phone with this kernel .

Yes rooting from this topic is via ADB, fastboot command is executed via ADB shell. What is your exact problem? Maybe you don't have properly installed ADB drivers on your PC and this is the reason to not have connection between phone and PC. To root your phone you need unlocked bootloader of phone - there is no other way for Marshmallow.
To have successfully connection via ADB, enable USB Debbuging via Developer menu and then you need to power off your phone, press volume down button (or volume up, I don't remember, check over internet) and while holding of button, connect usb cable. Then you should have connection with ADB shell.
One more thing - before switch off the phone you can check connection and should Approve connection between phone and PC, message on screen of phone will appear.

In this case wipe and reflash Marshmallow with Flashtool, this will install original kernel. After this boot your phone normally, enable USB debugging and then you will be able to reach fastboot
