Hi to all. Is anyone here a BootitBM user? (BootitBM is a boot and partition manager)
I am trying to install RemixOS into a HDD partition and have it run when I select it from the BootitBM menu. So far I have managed to install RemixOS into a partition using the INSTALL=1 method but when it installs grub it over rights the BootitBM information and on restart goes straight into RemixOS, no BootitBM menu. If I skip grub installation I get the BootitBM menu but can’t boot the RemixOS partition, it says this is not a bootable partition.
Has any BootitBM user managed to install RemixOS with BootitBM please let me know how you did it.
I know I can do the windows dual boot method, but I don’t want that, I want it managed by my boot manager.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion but I really didn’t want to try another boot manager. I’m familiar with BootitBM, it’s a boot/partition manager and it works very well.
In the past I’ve installed other OS in partitions i.e. Easypeasy, Ubuntu etc and no problem. When installing versions of Ubuntu there is an advanced installation option where you can select the swap, root & home partition and also where you want grub installed. Using this method it doesn’t over right any important information for BootitBM to work correctly.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to include a similar option for RemixOS installation for those users who want to install the OS into a specific partition and do not want a windows dual boot system setup.
Manny thanks.

I have a Asus t100 I'm trying to install remix os on without a windows os. I used pmagic since I'm not that good at coding, I tried coping all the files from release_Remix_OS_for_PC_32-bit_Beta_Version_Package
to a new partition then when I try to boot from it my computer just goes straight to bios because theres nothing to boot. I also tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/how-to-install-remix-os-virtualbox-to-t3301160 with no luck can someone help me I just want remix os installed on this computer with no other OS
Asus T100 uses Intel Atom Z3740, a 64bit processor. So use the 64-bit version of Remix OS. The 64-bit version of Remix OS also has UEFI, which makes making the drive easier, and booting faster. Make the bootable USB as per instructions, and disable secure boot in your BIOS. You should then be able to boot from the USB.
it won't work. T100 has 64bit processor but a 32bit system

Ok I just did it so, here is how I did it. Use gparted, from gparted.org, booted up, partitioned, small 500MB FAT32 formated partition, second partition EXT4 the rest, 58GB+. Then took 32bit beta using JIDE's tool to put on a USB stick. Booted the stick and when it came up, entered e, to enter grub boot config. On the second line removed the part after and put INSTALL=1. Installed android to the larger partition, then installed grub, grub efi, formated, then rebooted. Side loaded google services from this forum and it works. Bugs, biggest issue is no audio. Let me know if you have any luck.

From windows:
1) Dowmload and unpack RMX installer everywere you want (you will have a folder called RMX installer).
2) enter on RMX installer folder and execute the .EXE file.
3) Browse for the Remix OS .ISO file (use the 64 bits one, works like a charm for me )and choose the Data size (will create the data.img file).
4) disable secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS.
5) Boot and you will see the grub menu with Remix OS and Windows options.

OK but Asus t100 only uses 32bit which isn't a problem. And I don't have windows on it I have anot her computer that has windows on it but the Asus t100 has no OS at the moment I'm trying to install remix on it without installing windows so if the RMX Installer only works with a Windows installed then I have no use for it
Yes I'm having the same problem, with the new T100 that has both OS and CPU 64 bit.
The thing is, whatever you do grub won't detect either an external SD card or the keyboard dock's HDD as a boot option. They don't even show up in BIOS ! The only possibility seems to be booting from internal storage, which is too limited to dual boot Windows + Remix OS.
Anyone has tips for this ?
Thanks

When installing Ubuntu on a Surface Pro I had to use a USB-keyboard as the BIOS didn't recognise the original one. If you have one laying around you should try.

how can i install grub? i tried every method found in the internet but non of them worked.
please help
Hi, I installed RemixOS on my Clevo i7 laptop recently and I must admit it all worked out of the box, installed google play and was able to download apps no problem.
However, I could only get it installed as dual boot with my current windows 8.1, so I’d get the ugly boot menu where you pick either Windows 8.1 or RemixOS. For most people this is fine, but for people who use a third party boot manager this is not a good option. They have already selected to boot Windows from their boot manager and now have a second boot menu to choose from, not ideal.
My suggestion for RemixOS 3 is that an advanced installation option is incorporated, similar to that found in versions of Ubuntu where the user can select the swap, root & home etc. partitions and also where you would like grub installed. For us who already use a boot manager this would be wonderful. It means we can have our system setup as we want and have RemixOS installed without over righting important information.
Thanks in advance.
I have a few PCs and Laptops with no OS currently installed plus the HD has limited space so I don't want to waste time and HD space by first installing Windows or Linux and then installing Remix in dual-boot configuration.
There should be a way to install Remix OS on PC with Fresh/Clean Install in Single Boot Configuration
Install as Android-x86

I have a ASUS T100 tablet PC and it has a x86 uefi bootloader. im trying to install remixOS as a standalone OS. after I do your instructions do you need to edit the grub file so it boots (not sure how to do this) and which OS should I use 32 bit or 64 bit? last time I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...nt/winapp-android-x86-installer-uefi-t3225748 to install the 64 bit version on my tablet but the new 3.0 OS doesn't work with this tool.

Thanks for the info, I tried this and it installed and booted from the installer menu however when I reboot the PC I find that the Android-x86 installer fails to create a boot partition.
I tried all possible combinations, Grub without EFI, Grub with EFI, both varitions on MBR and GPT, etc. nothing works. Even tried x86 and x64 installations

Try hitting tab
then the spacebar, then put INSTALL=1 press enter it will bring up Android X86 installer for you to format the hard drive and install on to it. This will allow it to boot without the USB drive
When I hit TAB, nothing happens. ;-/
Hello everyone and thanks for these great releases!!
I have a Lenovo miix 700 Windows based tablet, and I'm interested in a dual boot with RemixOS and Window 10 using the touch screen only, without the keyboard.
I have RemixOS efi folder extracted and running on the same partition of WIndows (C: ), and I can boot through UEFI normally.
THe problem is - this requires to enter the BIOS in order to chose UEFI OS, which means requires having the keyboard attached to enter the BIOS settings. and being a tablet, I don't have the keyboard with me all the time.
I'm looking for a way to boot into RemixOS from Windows 10, without the need for the keyboard, by using a batch file script or any other application available that will restart the device and boot directly into RemixOS.
I also want to keep both Windows 10 and RemixOS on the same partition , without the need for a separate partition for RemixOS
I know that devices based on Legacy can use easyBCD and iReboot to achieve this, but I couldn't find an equivalent for UEFI bios.
Maybe using METRO boot manager and add an entry for RemixOS? IS it touch enabled?
I'd be grateful for any help to achieve this! Thanks in advance!

Hi, you can check this link:

easyuefi not running well in Win 10 Anniversary Update. I prefer grub2win
any news or tuto to easyboot on win10 tablet without keyboard ?
thanks is advance for your help
That's something I've been trying to get to work in the past days!
I've shrunk my C Partition and created a new one with 16GB formatted in FAT32 for Remix OS.
Extracted the ISO and copied the files onto the new partition.
Added a new entry with easyuefi (Type Linux/other OS pointing to the efi\boot\bootx64.efi file on the new partition)
Created a shortcut for the advanced start %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
BUT Remix OS doesn't boot in resident mode (it get's stuck on the Remix OS boot logo) ... in guest mode Remix OS boots just fine!
I don't have an idea why this is happening and how to solve this one ... maybe someone like @RemixOS_Jason does
http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us -> Submit an idea (feature request) and ask them for a touch supported bootloader
Can anyone help me booting into RemixOS with my Acer Switch 10 V laptop.
Its been quite a struggle so far, but I have managed to at least get as far as having the Option to Boot into either Windows or RemixOS. However when i choose RemixOS i get the following error...
error: no such device: /RemixOS/kernel.
error: file '/RemixOS/kernel' not found.
alloc magic is broken at 0x71f8ad60: 71ed7760
Aborted. press any key to exit._
Due to the quirks of the bios on this device I had to do the following steps to even get it to try and boot into RemixOS.
1) Disable Secure boot in Bios, restart Windows and install RemixOS. Result is will never boot to RemixOS always Windows, you wont even see the option to boot into RemixOS even pressing F12. Solve this by doing following.....
2) Renable Secure boot in Bios, this then enables the option to manually "Select a UEFI file as a trusted source for executing", go into this and it allows me to browse the normally hidden FAT32 EFI System Partition on the hard drive, so I go to "EFI/RemixOS" and add the following files as trusted..... BOOTx64.EFI , bootia32.efi & grubx64.efi
3) Save changes, then disable Secure boot once again (you can only add trusted efi files when its enabled hence step 2)
4) Now BOOTx64.EFI , bootia32.efi & grubx64.efii along with 'Windows boot manager' appear as choices to boot into.
Windows boot manager obviously boots into Windows.
bootia32.efi does nothing and boots into windows.
Bootx64.EFI and grubx64.efi if selected will then boot into the choice screen where you choose 'Windows' or 'RemixOS'
If I choose RemixOS i get a black screen then the following flashes up...
error: no such device: /RemixOS/kernel.
error: file '/RemixOS/kernel' not found.
alloc magic is broken at 0x71f8ad60: 71ed7760

Does anyone know how I can fix this, i feel like i'm close in at least getting the Bootx64.EFI etc etc into the boot menu, but now I just need to find out why it wont actually boot to RemixOS.
My noob thoughts at the moment ... = is it because the trusted EFI files I added in the bios are located on the hidden FAT32 EFI system partition and not on the NTFS normal partitions where Windows and remixOS is actually installed ? (Bios wont allow me to browse that partition) ??
Do I need to edit some files on the hidden EFI System Partition to change paths ?
Do I need to add some file maybe to this Hidden EFI partition ??
Any help greatly appreciated
I think you are trying to add remix/grub as a uefi entry?
If you boot to WBM do you get an option screen with 'Advanced Options' or something on it?

Hello, yes I have added remix/grub as a uefi entry i think that is what I described in the steps, that allows to then select BOOTx64.EFI or grubx64.efi which then take to OS choice screen (Windows or Remix). If I choose Remix i get the errors stated.
If I boot and choose WBM i just boot straight onto Windows.
I have found a few threads relating to this but don't know if they are relevant to me really though

Try and add a safemode entry to WMB or do an advanced reboot - what you want to do is tell the sysyem to boot a 'uefi usb'
But it could be that you should be using the 32bit version instead
I'm have installed RemixOS onto my hardrive and not a USB stick, I should have made that clear in my post sorry.
I just used the installer to install it to my Windows installation and used the latest x64 version for UEFI bios.
I have tried to boot by selecting the bootia32.efi file in boot options but that just boots straight to Windows.
Been searching the net for hours now, I think it's something to do with Paths in the Grub.cfg file that is located on the hidden EFI partition.
Update: I'm getting closer !!
So I used the instructions on the link in the post i made earlier (just changed it to the Bootx64.EFI as i'm installing the x64bit version not the 32bit version in that post)
In a nutshell I mounted the hidden EFI partition in Windows and assigned it the letter B.
I then copied over the 'kernel' and 'initrd.img' from my RemixOS.iso and then edited the Grub.cfg to change the lines "/RemixOS/kernel" and "/RemixOS/initrd.img" to /EFI/RemixOS/ & /EFI/RemixOS/initrd.img
(note I had 2 Grub.cfgs on the EFI partition, so edited them both in the same way - one was in the RemixOS folder and another in boot>grub folder).
NOW....................... when I select BOOTx64.EFI in my boot menu, then select RemixOS, I get the first loading screen of Android-x86 which i've never had before.....but then I get this
[ 1.676681] i8042: Can't read CTR while initialising i8042
