After months of waiting, finally update is rolled out in Nordic countries. IN this case, Sweden specifically.
I was so glad and excited, but few days after, only disappointment has left....
I have two Galaxy S6 Edge phones. One is mine and one from my fiancée. Both old 4 months, in perfect condition without signs of use. Both worked FLAWLESSLY on Android 5.1.1, and Android 6.0.1 ruined everything.
Two identical phones, only appearance differs, two different issues.
On my phone battery life is decreased by 80%, I cannot get a six hours with moderate usage, while I was getting 12 and more hours on Android 5.1.1. with same usage pattern. Last days, often I find it completely dead (within 6 hours since last charge), without enough juice to even flash!
What have I tried:
- Wipe cache
- Removed majority of apps
Nothing worked.
My fiancées phone have no issues with massive battery drain, but something even more annoying: If screen is left off for longer than 10 seconds, wakeup of phone is extremely slow:
- On first button press only touch keys flash for a moment. On second it MIGHT turn on with delay of aprox. 10 seconds while brightness is SLOWLY increasing. After wakeup, device is slow, until unlocked. After unlock, it work almost flawlessly except phone calls - Dialer is extremely slow, stops responding during the call, impossible to hangup the call. Before she is able to accept the call (nothing appears) there is delay of aprox. 5-15 seconds. Sometimes she even can't accept call at all!
What have I tried:
- Wipe cache
- Soft reset x3
- Hard reset x3
- Disable all animations in Developer menu.
- Thousands of reboots
Nothing worked.
From two perfect phones, we now have two average barely usable phones.
Any help? :crying:
Is it possible to downgrade(with Odin??) to Android 5.1.1 latest, without tripping Knox? Where I could find latest Android 5.1.1 Nordic?
Or even better - is it possible to fix any of those issues? Android 6.0.1 is great in almost all other ways.
Regards
You need to mess with the doze function. There are apps running when screen off and other things running in the background. You can limit these in the settings. I had this issue until i messed with that

You may also be experiencing incompatable data issues. If you try to factory reset backup all of your files in the internal storage and factory reset. When done that should fix some of the problems

Still do not restore with smart switch because it will hold the incompatable datat

At the end, nothing helped so I ended up by downgrading both phones to latest Android 5.1.1, and I can say that it's the best DOWNGRADE ever. "Upgrade" to Android 6.0.1 felt like downgrade....
There is nothing from 6.0.1 that I miss. On Android 5.1.1 battery lasts long again, and there is no performance issues. We're very happy again.
I'll post thread with detailed info how to downgrade because it took me long enough to figure that out with lack of tutorials.

Only thing I did when I got the phone was
Very first thing I did was add my google account
I turned ART on and rebooted
Installed Titanium backup
Attempted to restore my apps from my former phone.
During this whole process I had 3 hard lockups and about 6 reboots. (I spent the day trying to get my phone setup)
After 5 hours of hating the G3, I figured it had to be ART.
So I factory reset my phone and repeated all of the above EXCEPT for enabling ART, and did not get a single lockup or reboot.
Anyone else have problem with ART. I really want to use it, Android L everyone will, but I have it on my HTC one m8 and man does help with battery.
Let me know others who have tried this...
Anyone have any thoughts on the matter...
I'm going to be completely honest. I had A LOT of problems when I enabled ART which is weird, because I had it on my m8, g2 and nexus 7 and never had problems, but on my g3 i had Random powering off, constant freezes, force closes and incredible battery drain. I did a factory reset and kept everything on dalvik and everything works great.

Yep, sucks! Having a clear understanding of how ART works, I really want it, when implemented correctly your battery lasts much longer, and programs load quicker. A shame LG didn't spend any time testing their implementation of it. There are only a couple phones that support this, you would think LG would test, i bet LG didn't bother making sure their own software was compatible. Like turning ART on, on a ROM that doesn't support it. So this pretty much confirms that the LG G3 stock rom does not support ART.
Another reason I can't wait for a bootloader unlock or loki. I know the developer community will be able to get it right. LG did such a bad job it makes me wonder if they're developer team even heard of ART, it looks like they just grabbed the lastest version of KitKat which has ART in there, and they didn't bother doing anything at all to their ROM to coincide.
I spoke with my friend who just got it and he confirmed similar problems on art.
Can confirm, spent 3 or so hours troubleshooting the problems (which I thought were due to an accidental system app restore via Titanium Backup), but it turned out to be ART.
It also might have been the reason for some issues I ran into with downloading/installing apps and updates from the Play Store (usually just taking an extremely long time to install, occasionally freezing and automatically rebooting, occasionally giving an error code), though I can't be 100% sure ART was the cause.
Whatever the case, seems to be stable now on Dalvik. I wonder what's causing the issues on our phones, the other carrier versions reportedly work fine on ART...
It's definitely ART people. I can confirm this, because I originally started with ART and experienced random power offs, force closes and freezes. I did a factory reset and tried again with ART and same issues.
I factory reset it again, stayed with dalvik and NO problems. I have 2 other friends go through the same situation and still had issues with ART.

i noticed a few of you have said a factory reset back to dalvik. Does it still lock up if you just switch it back in Developer Settings and reboot? Id rather not factory reset after i have my phone set up now. Thanks!
I've been on ART with no issues yet. Maybe I'm a fortunate one. It converted 249 apps, took around 20 mins to do so... But once it did, I had a little stuttering issues. Once the apps settled in, I've been smooth sailing.
I had 4-5 lockups (deep sleep / coma / battery pull) yesterday after flipping over to ART. Last night I did a factory reset and left things w/ Dalvik. No problems yet. Really glad to hear it isn't just me!

Switching it and rebooting should work in most cases, although if you still get lockups and crashes or issues downloading Play Store apps, then I'd do a factory reset too.
Ok, thanks!
when i switched to art I got some massive battery drain, factory restored and it went away. Gonna stick with dalvik for now, until i can figure out what is causing the problem.
I thought my unit was faulty when I switched to ART cause I had random shut downs and high battery drain. It seems though that the G3 (VZW) is not ready for it yet until a firmware update.

I enabled it, but it was a disaster making the thing way more laggy than before--brutally slow with apps crashing.
It's clear we all had similar problems with ART and dalvik is the best option.

I experienced much the same thing.I've pretty much been on ART since I got the phone. I was having a lot of lockups like the rest of you. Last night I factory reset then enabled art again. It seemed ok last night, but this morning it was rough again. Eventually Google play stayed upgrading a bunch of apps. There were some issues while the updates were happening, but when all the updates were nearly done the My Verizon app "unfortunately" closed. Since then it's been golden.
I'm at 40% battery left after 10 hours on battery, 2.5 hours screen on time. Not quite what I was hoping for but much much better than I had yesterday.
I guess I'm a lucky one. Over 250 apps optimized and no issue or reboot. Yet.... In fact I've no issues at all. Worth reboots, heat, wat not..

I switched over to ART but it was shutting down anytime I would have it locked for more than 5 minutes. Then i would have to pull the battery because it wouldn't turn back on. Now I'm back to davlick for now.

I wont even bother with ART once I get my G3, I never found the difference to be all that noticeable, but I noticed a huge difference on Android L, just wait for the Android L update to the G3 and itll be fully optimized.
Hi!
my wife's Galaxy Alpha is on stock, bought a couple of days ago.
The phone looses battery even in Offline Mode apparently because of kernel wakelocks. Attached are the battery stats of a fully charged phone after around 7h in Offline Mode (over night). It seems there was a process waking it up all the time. Any idea what this is: lli_cp_wlock ??
Many thanks

I would try a factory reset and flash latest firmware via odin. Firmware can be found here and manual for flashing firmware here (both sites in german language as i assume you are german according to the screenshots).
There is also an option in Kies (PC software for samsung phones) that can recover firmware problems (in menu select tools).
I dunno what the software shows you, but this doesn't look like a wakelock. However while working on CM I tried to get NFC working. The NFC hardware drained the battery much faster so I removed it again. Without NFC the battery lasts for more than two days normally ...
---------- Post added at 09:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:04 PM ----------
lli_cp_wlock is a wakelock of the modem
problem remains still
I have tried resetting the phone, the problem still remains...
is it maybe a hardware problem?
Now that there are a couple of versions of the 'official' Lollipop update floating around for the Z3v and people are using it, what's the verdict? What are your thoughts? Was it worth the wait? Is it running alright, better, or worse, than KK? Any problems or concerns?
It might help if you let us know which version you installed (.485 or .509), if you're rooted, and if you did a clean wipe and install or flashed over your previous version.

It does not. I don't think it works on either build, but I'm running version .485, FYI.
Multi-user / guest mode also has been deactivated and is missing.
Im actually enjoying the update, fun little things here and there. Im greatful to have the update everything works well.
I have the unrooted .485 build. To my knowledge almost everything is working perfectly. Battery life is the same if not better. I love Sony's take on material design. The only two things missing are multiple user accounts and the ability to do voice over data, but I do not think that will be turned on until Verizon officially releases the update. Since verizon hasn't released it yet, I'm positive they haven't "hit the switch" to turn it on for our devices.
I'm waiting for Verizon to push this to my phone but am a little concerned that pdanet/foxfi will stop working for me when it comes. Any thoughts on this? What are my risks of waiting on not rooting? Wi-Fi hotspots is critical for me.

I'm actually experiencing a dramatic DROP in battery charge longevity and haven't been able to find out what's doing it.
Other than that, the upgrade is "OK", but without the missing features that we're waiting on Verizon for, I'm not sure it was worth all the hassle.
I just look at it as good practice for when 2 have to go through all this crap again when they finally do release the good stuff.
Edit...
After having whittled down some of the background apps that I had done in K.K. (per Gigaspx's list), I am now experiencing much better battery life. Also, now that I have Xposed-lollipop-z3v working to tweak the interface, it's looking less foreign to me and more intuitive.
I had both versions installed and clearly prefer 509. I had WiFi issues with 485 and my phones was overheating while wireless charging. 509 fixed those issues and everything is working fine. Compared to 4.4.4 everything is faster and I rely like the new lollipop interface. I haven't done any testing but I think that the battery life also improved.
I'm on 509 and have seen a few odd things.
My GPS locked up the other day and would not update my location. I had to reboot to fix it. This has never happened to me on this phone before.
Hitting recent apps lags. It takes long enough to come up with the list of recent apps that I start to question whether or not I hit the button every single time.
Settings from Tasker profiles that have always worked without a hitch are not being respected. For example, the screen will continuously turn off after 5 or 10 seconds but when I check the settings for screen timeout it says 2 minutes. Re-applying the profile works as expected after.
Other than that I'm enjoying LP. I'll have to do some testing to see what I can fix.

so can we downgrade from lolipop to kitkat?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm starting to have a constant wakelock. No idea why and I cant fully charge with a wireless charger.
I have only had lollipop a couple of days now (flashed 509). So far I like it. Battery is about the same, never have had any lag, maybe lollipop is a little faster? Several things I like - BT seems more stable, lock screen controls are now more consistent, and the security features are better (I use a pin to lock my phone). I generally like the small changes to the interface.
Things I don't like. The volume controls is not intuitive (muting etc). Themes don't work as well either. Can't seem to get navigation buttons to change.

I had Bluetooth problems updating to non root 5.02 without doing a factory reset. I switched back to 4.4.4, rooted and then updated with dual recovery and have had no issues for the past two weeks. My sony smartband talk watch was having a lot of problems which prompted me to go back to a clean factory reset 4.4.4 and then root. I used kingroot and installed recovery before flashing the prerooted 5.02. I'm getting 5.5 hours sot and its very stable.

I tested my Z3V on 5.02 with my son's Galaxy S5 and it does work including HD Video.

Hi
Since around a week i noticed very high usage of Android System proccess. Its taking a lot of battery juice. I switched between various ROMS global/dev it doesnt solve the problem. I see people getting easily 8-10h of SOT while im at.....well check yourself screenshots. Brightness auto, no sms, no calls, only a little data LTE. This is unacceptable.
And the "Android System" is now at 21% in apps, earlier it wasnt even present or of it was it was very low few percentages.
I think i did everything i could. Yesterday flashed global stable 7.2.3.0 with MiFlash choosing "flash all".
Going down from 100% to 90 as you see it takes just around 15 minutes. Why is that ? Going frokm 100% to 99 takes like 30 seconds. Is it possible its faulty battery in my model ?
Any ideas ?

yes, everything means it will wipe out what drains your battery to (should)

I'm having the same issue, Android System was just using up a few percent of battery, since a few days it drains battery very fast(Android System 20%, Android 13%), also when phone is in standby (BBS tells me phone is in deepsleep over 90% of the time, so wakelocks are not an issue).
Very strange, as in my first days I easily got 10h SOT and now barely make 6h.
I'm on MIUI 7 Global 6.5.19 Beta by the way.

I flashed radon kernel and that seems to have improved nbattery.
I have absolutely same problem with this dude. I've got more like a 7-8 SoT with 2.5 days usae on vendor rom (something like 7.3.2.0.0 (bewre of an extra zero) but the battery was immense.
I then later unlocked bootloader officially and since I liked the miui I was using, told myself "hey, lets keep going". I've flashed global stable 7.3.2.0 hell. it was awful. 10 minutes, battery was dropping like a gaggled eye m..f..r. I also noticed that the phone not too much but was heating up when the screen was on. On vendor, I haven't noticed any heat except charging. btw, I never play games. only listen to music and read news-articles on my phone.
I have also noticed that on marathon mode, pone uses insane battery but it wasn't awake.. (how the F.. could that happen?) on vendor, it was 0-1%; on 7.3.2 official Global Stable, its minimum %6-7 on AIRPLANE mode in 7 hours!!!
SO far tried different roms but looks like nothing's working. still same issue. I'm guessing the problem could be related to kernel, but I'm not gonna go over it. even unlocking bootloader and flashing an official rom has taken my days and I had hardbircked the phone.
aint gonna buy a xiaomi again. that was my first time, and probably the last.
Guys I am facing same problem
Android system and android both are draining battery
And usage for both of them is like 30-40%
Plz can someone suggest a fix that does not involve resetting my phone
Never in the past year of my Realme 1 usage, i experienced phone hanging. After this latest update, it hanged 3 times up to now. Anyone experiencing the same?
yupp i too faced the same randomly 1 time..
but not frequently..
Faced a few times
While doing anything it just stops responding and hangs for a while. The brightness gets max and phone soft restarts itself...
After C.48 casual lag and battery drain has increased. Didn't face any restart issues. But brightness issue is there

As the phone is proceeding towards EOL, they are giving updates which are more troubling and will force users to move to another device sooner!
If that's true. It's very sad.
