EDIT: @skanadian pointed out that it is on by default for the google play official release so you definitely wanna turn that off and maybe even block a permission or two in the settings!

We can and should expect more and more snooping from Google as time goes along. With the new keyboard update comes a "share snippets" option.
I'm just doing my part and making sure everyone is aware of this. This sounds to like Google has taken snooping a step further and is now taking a screenshot of your activity. You've been warned!
Screenshot is attached.
Well at least here they are asking nicely and not doing all of this behind our backs. Is it on by default? That's the part I can't remember.

I believe it was on by default for me as well.
If you use the APK from apkmirror/other sources to update/install existing keyboard, then this setting will be on by default

I don't think so. I updated through APK-Mirror and it asked to enable it.

I just downloaded from the play store and it was on by default.
I just installed it and it asked me.
Is this rolling out slowly? I looked at my google keyboard app, and it was last updated in Feb.
Yeah I believe so. I still haven't received the update for 5.0
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
I downloaded the APK from android police and the play store still thinks I'm using the old keyboard.
I'm in the UK so I'm now also wondering if the rollout is only being done in certain countries due to privacy law issues.

Why on earth did Google not make Hangouts available for download on either Nexus tablets? It's their own product, and we have to wait to try out the new service? Pretty poor to be honest.
I sideloaded it just fine after grabbing the APK from another device. Works without issue. Still odd like you say though.
Maybe they are using a gradual rollout for various devices. It is odd that it wouldn't be available for tablets, especially their own.

It's running on my N10, did you update through the play store?
Its not even showing up in the play store anymore for me

Here's the new apk - Hangouts
It asked for my phone number on my SIII.
So that may be why it is not available on these devices without SIM's.

Works fine on my Nexus 10 tab. It did not ask for phone number during initial setup.
I also don't have it on my N10 play store.
And if I connect to play store through my pc, it shows that Hangouts is not supported for Nexus 10.
Very strange.

This is the exact reason as announced already on play store description. Either grab the apk from another device or wait some days.
Btw it's working perfectly on n10 (and probably other tablets) already. They just roll out the app later for some devices. Can't tell you why though

We are rolling out hangouts to everyone over the course of several days [...] tablets included.
I've just installed it in my nexus 4 & 10 from Google Play without problems (Spain).
It's now available through the play store in the UK however you have to root uninstall talk first otherwise it won't install.
Hangouts sucks anyway , no SMS or voice integration. It's basically what Google talk was ...it didn't unify anything . FAIL!

I know. We went from rumours of bringing together gtalk and messenger+ and all we get was a re-skinned talk app.
According to android central, there's been talk of SMS integration..

What is truely missing is the ability to send /share videos, like whatsapp has.
This is a feature many use, and they won't immigrate from whatsapp to hangouts unless it would be implemented.

If you don't want to update (why wouldn't you?) hangouts is in the Google+ app - open it, hit back and select hangouts... After update it has its own app which replaces talk
Well what I did to sideload it was to open the app on the web play store and installed it to the nexus 10 and gs3 because if I installed it on the devices it would just install talk

At this point in its development, why would you? It does nothing but give a new interface for Talk. Maybe I will think about updating when it finally gets proper features.
Okay supposedly Instagram with new video feature has been rolling out for most android devices running 4.1+
I have an SGS3 and I haven't even got the update yet Htc Evo's, etc have it. I can't even view any videos from pesky iPhone users!
To anyone that has the 4.0 update, can you upload the apk and mirror it for me? Thanks
I'm interested in this too... It appears my Note II isn't supported?
Yea for whatever reason it doesn't show up for me either. Which makes no sense. SGS3 running 4.2.2
nor is my Note 1... damn it!
Supposedly using the new staged rollout feature.
Hopefully someone can grab the APK soon as iOS already has it.
They are probably going to throw out an update in a few to make it compatible for our phones

Ha, I wish, its multiple, and still doesnt work. I've tried reinstalling and reboots.
From what I have seen on videos and read on various blogs and from people using early AOSP builds, the new Google Search is significantly improved - most importantly in terms of speed, which has always been my biggest gripe with it. So earlier I pretended like I still had a nexus and tried to install the new apk from the factory image over the one we all have, and predictably, it opened but would FC every time I tried to run a search. Anybody else tried? anybody havE any thoughts on how we might be able to make it work?

Hmm this? http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-home-android-4-4-launcher-apk/
Running the new google launcher/search on my s4 now.
Yeah, just need to change language then change back. Also make sure you have the latest Play Services version installed.
See here, fix posted ... http://phandroid.com/2013/10/31/download-and-install-the-new-google-experience-launcher/
Still can't get it to work even with these steps. The launcher works fine, but it is a bit laggy

Ok so how many others got the OTA to Android 6 in UK today ? its looking great and running faster, but my only issue is it will not allow me to set any launchers like google?
Google Launcher can be selected as of Marshmallow I think, if not other all the launchers are working smoothly with Marshmallow.
EMUI 5 (if arrived) will have inbuilt App drawer. And it seems that App drawer is the main thing for which people were using Google Launcher in EMUI.

We don't want to mess our desktop. We like to have only our favorite apps on the home screen and all our other apps in the app drawer.
Tats why we are in need of it.

Ya read it. Seems that they are giving preference to XDA Devs.
As said, if they release sources for Kirin, it might be helpful.
I wanted to post this because I search several times and never found any hits but randomly found this APK somewhere that works just fine activating Galaxy Labs on the AT&T model S7. Go to advanced features after install and you should see Galaxy labs. This allows you to disable the app drawer. So it is like an iPhone home screen expect you have widgets also! No root required.
Thanks for this. Quick Dial seems like it might be a useful feature.
Wow easy install and works great thank you!

You need to click the small text on the warning page that says "install anyway (unsafe)" Or something similar to that.
Clicking OK, is basically saying you don't want to proceed.
why did you manually sign it ?
maybe edited the apk ?
Weird why the sign it alerted system. Hmm
BTW it doesn't work on AT&T Android 7.0
