Why on earth did Google not make Hangouts available for download on either Nexus tablets? It's their own product, and we have to wait to try out the new service? Pretty poor to be honest.
I sideloaded it just fine after grabbing the APK from another device. Works without issue. Still odd like you say though.
Maybe they are using a gradual rollout for various devices. It is odd that it wouldn't be available for tablets, especially their own.

Here's the new apk - Hangouts
It asked for my phone number on my SIII.
So that may be why it is not available on these devices without SIM's.

Works fine on my Nexus 10 tab. It did not ask for phone number during initial setup.
I also don't have it on my N10 play store.
And if I connect to play store through my pc, it shows that Hangouts is not supported for Nexus 10.
Very strange.

This is the exact reason as announced already on play store description. Either grab the apk from another device or wait some days.
Btw it's working perfectly on n10 (and probably other tablets) already. They just roll out the app later for some devices. Can't tell you why though
Quote:
We are rolling out hangouts to everyone over the course of several days [...] tablets included.
I've just installed it in my nexus 4 & 10 from Google Play without problems (Spain).
It's now available through the play store in the UK however you have to root uninstall talk first otherwise it won't install.
Hangouts sucks anyway , no SMS or voice integration. It's basically what Google talk was ...it didn't unify anything . FAIL!

I know. We went from rumours of bringing together gtalk and messenger+ and all we get was a re-skinned talk app.
According to android central, there's been talk of SMS integration..

What is truely missing is the ability to send /share videos, like whatsapp has.
This is a feature many use, and they won't immigrate from whatsapp to hangouts unless it would be implemented.

If you don't want to update (why wouldn't you?) hangouts is in the Google+ app - open it, hit back and select hangouts... After update it has its own app which replaces talk
Well what I did to sideload it was to open the app on the web play store and installed it to the nexus 10 and gs3 because if I installed it on the devices it would just install talk

At this point in its development, why would you? It does nothing but give a new interface for Talk. Maybe I will think about updating when it finally gets proper features.

Anyone able to get the DirecTV Sunday Ticket App working under CM9?
Mine kept crashing..... Help!
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda app-developers app
Looks like its not just our device from the reviews...
there are 2 apps... one for tablets and one for phones. I have the one for tablets on my rooted nexus 7 and it keeps FC'ing. It runs just fine on my wife's UNROOTED nexus 7 (so it looks like I'll be using my wife's N7 on gamedays).
I emailed directv about the app not working on my nexus 7 ( I didn't say it was rooted) and here was their response:
"Thank you for writing. Your email has been forwarded to me for special handling and I am happy to assist you today.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing technical difficulties when trying to access the NFL SUNDAY TICKET application from your Nexus 7 tablet. I would like to begin by assuring you that this is a very unusual situation as most of our customer with Android devices do not seem to experience issues when trying to access this content. Please understand, the NFL SUNDAY TICKET mobile application does not support "rooted" or "jail broken" Android devices. I am not sure if your Android device falls into this category, however, I wanted to inform you of this just in case. With "rooted" or "jailbroken" devies, users may experience frozen video or frequent app crash.
Another possible cause to this issue may be an issue with your Wi-Fi router settings. Android devices access video streams using the UDP protocol. By default, some Wi-Fi routers are configured to block video streams that are using UDP protocol. Please note, you can change your router settings to allow UDP protocol streams, or you can disable Wi-Fi access on their Android device and rely on a cellular network connection. If you are still experiencing issues with your NFL SUNDAY TICKET mobile application, please give our Technical Support department a call for further assistance. Our Technical Support department can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-531-5000. I am confident that if the suggestions I have provided do not resolve your issue, our Technical Support department
will be able to assist you in resolving this rare issue."

hey guys I just tried something and would like some feedback from others to see if it works. I have SuperSu from chainfire and he has an option to Disable Superuser. It seems like when I do that I have no issues with Sunday ticket for tablet. I would suggest maybe someone gives that a try and see how it goes. Quite honestly I prefer his superuser over the original anyways but thats just me and this makes it even better
I had been having the same issue with Sunday ticket app. Disabled super user. now the app no longer force closes. Thanks for the info

However, each day since then, I will wake ti a new app l on my phone. Ami idea what this is from? I checked the master key exploit and got nothing.
UPDATE: the same thing has been happening to older phones off mine, yet my nexus 7 seems unaffected,l. Hopefully that rules or my Google account being the issue

I once sold a device and forgot to wipe out my google account. When they deleted my contracts from the device they deleted out of google and all the devices that we on it. (Nice that google has a restore feature). I could see under my apps on all the devices what apps the person was downloading. They didnt download to my handset but i could see them in the history and still can.
Not sure if there is an option within google play (for autosync maybe?), but if you sold a device recently, maybe all the apps that they download are pushed to all the other devices on the same google account? <---- This would be my best bet. Especially if it has been happening with multiple devices across your account.
maybe someone has your google info and is adding them on the web? (Would be very funny if so)
Try to change your gmail password in either case.

I pulled the group play from her note 3 and it will not install on the Mega. Check the group play feedback in Samsung apps store. Almost all complaining Mega so t update

The problem is the app shouldn't be attempting to update in the first place. If you are quick enough to select one of the options before the update message comes up then you can bypass the update and use the app. The problem is on Samsung's end and is not the device itself. As stupid as it may sound the app is only supported on Galaxy Note 3 and the S4. Why that is I have no idea but its a joke on Samsung's part since they preloaded it on the phones. If you go to samsung app store on desktop computer it shows this as well. F* you Samsung you suck in my book now.

i got it all worked out after rooting. backed up the group play, removed it, installed the note 3 group play and it worked but would force close creating. removed note 3 group play and reinstalled the older version the mega came with. went into samsung app store, update still failed. uninstalled via samsung market, while staying on the group play app page, reinstalled and now it works normal with the updated version
confusing i know. its not as good as the note 3 group play. i grabbed the games thru the wifes note 3 too and it plays well with the mega note on group play games. Mucis doesnt work between the two.
Group play is a joke on the mega. I read somewhere the 4.4 update supposed to fix it all. so 1 more year before att update mega to 4.4
New at&t ota update fixes the problem. I dont have any issues with Group Pl a y since updating.
Has anyone else experienced a jerky google maps? I ask because my location dot on maps seems to only move every hundred feet while driving, opposed to being a fluid, continuous movement. I thought it was my note 2, but then I checked a friend's S4 and it did the same thing. May have been the latest maps update....not sure.

I ended up reverting back to an older version of Google Maps as well because I was experiencing similar bugs. I also missed having separate app icons for local, navigation, maps, etc... I went with Maps version 6.14.2, which I believe may have been the last version of that still had all the separate icons. It has been working well for me on my Note 2.
I also reverted my Gmail to an earlier version... I went with Gmail version 4.3.1, because I believe it was the last version available before Google updated Gmail to pre-sort all our email into the 5 different boxes... I just didn't like that.
When I was searching online for the previous versions, I came across a site named Android Drawer http://www.androiddrawer.com/
I thought you all might be interested in it because it has a huge repository of older apps of all kinds. Just search for the app you want and pick your favorite version.

I'm not sure of a simple way to detach apps from the Play Store/Market. I thought Titanium Backup would easily let you do it, but it looks like it doesn't work anymore. I tested it out just a bit ago and it temporarily detached the app... but it linked back to the Market after a reboot.
User cthulu posted information in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50564811&highlight=detached#post50564811 , which talks about a fix. Credit should go to him if it helps you.

We can and should expect more and more snooping from Google as time goes along. With the new keyboard update comes a "share snippets" option.
I'm just doing my part and making sure everyone is aware of this. This sounds to like Google has taken snooping a step further and is now taking a screenshot of your activity. You've been warned!
