Not able to root my Honor 7 - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I am trying to root my Honor 7, but since today I was not successful
Devicenumber is PLK-L01 with B330 update (Android 6.0)
Bootloader is unlocked.
I tried TWRP 2.8.7.0b (TWRP. Sminki'S repack) and just now twrp-3.0.2-0-plank.
I also tried different SuperSU versions: BETA-SuperSU-v2.52, UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65 and the one from the Honor Multi Tool (not sure what version that is).
Everytime I install the SuperSU-zip from TWRP and reboot afterwards my phone does not boot and hangs on the "honor logo" screen (the second one, without the "powered by android" message).
Any hints on why this is not working for me/my device? Did I miss a step?
Thanks
Logic

Hi,
there is only one SuperSU version which is working on Honor 7, it is 2.62. All others give bootloop.
++

thanks. it worked!
so I assume that i should not update supersu from the play store now, right?

Hello. I have exactly the same problem.
I tried last SuperSU versions but my Honor 7 don't boot at all.
Is the 2.62 version the last compatible with the Honor 7 ?
Thanks.

If you are in B330 or above, you can download the latest zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67610277&postcount=10807

@Log1c. You need to flash a patched boot.img or install a full Custom ROM in order to gain root. If you are still facing this issue tell me.

As Post #2 and #3 mention i got it to work with v2.62 that i flashed via the multi tool.
updates via playstore after that are no problem.
Now I am using YodaROM v10 which works flawlessly.

Sorry I didn't read other posts, I just read OP, and good to know that you got it to working but if you want to use latest SuperSU, then you need patched boot.img. But good to know that you solved it.

I flash this rom in my redmi note 3 pro and I install gapps and rooted the phone with supersu, putting the gapps and supersu Zips in the microsd and follow the method to entry in twrp to install the Zips without lose the original recovery (the system of the forum given't permissions to me to put external links) .

Well, you flashed the ROM which is not for your phone. It's redmi 3 forum, not redmi note 3
Hi, I flashed the correct rom for my device, but the method is valid for all devices with miui 5-8, with official unlocked bootloader, and original recovery, sorry for the confusion xD.

What process did you go through? I'm interested in MIUI8/root/GAPPS.
As for MIUI8 it seems that the only available version is the China Dev one. It comes bundled with a ton of useless chinese apps, no root, no gapps.

Mine hv previous china dev rom installed (miui7 6.5.26) before, and i was download miui8 from official site and flash it manually via updater (choose update package). No data loss or relocked BL after (even all my games still there)
Gapps using google apps installer.apk frm mi market.
Root: just tap root permission in security apk and it will download (i assume its miui root file or something) and device will rebooting by it self after. Done.
Ps: i have no superSU installed.

Thanks for the answer. What I did, is flash it from the TWRP. I must have missed that I can go from 7 to 8 from within the OS. Now I'm back to 6.5.2.6 so it's good to know. I'll update soon.

I have rooted using KingRoot 4.8 in this model. Other versions of kingRoot didn't work for me..
Also never try to replace kingRoot with superSu since it leads to boot loop.I have tried this and finally went to Jio store to flash the stock for my bricked flame 8
Unbrick LYF FLAME 8 ls-4505
My flame 8 got rooted using kingroot (latest version from official site).
When I installed supersume app to install super su ,my phone got bricked. Not even booting into the system.
Then I could download the official firmware from the link: docs.google.com/uc?id=0B672QBSaJWBAWmtPaUNXTXVyR2c&export=download
Here are the steps;
Extracting the file, you'll get Qualcomm drivers, qpst n flash file folder.
Install drivers and qpst.
Then switch off the device (ls-4505) and replug the battery.
Then hold volume up+volume down+power button all together till your phone vibrates.
Then connect your device to PC and make sure the device is listed as HS-QDload.....something with a COM port in both device manager and qpst configuration.
Then open QFil and select the respective port and load mbn file (which looks like 'prog_emmc_firehose_89XX.mbn') in programmer patch section.
Then load XML files rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml one by one.
Then click download. The process will be completed in 10 minutes. There you go with stock unbricked Flame 8. Device warranty also be restored.
##PossibleErrors:
1. rawprogram0.xml error;
then you can use file unparsedrawprogram without qcn.xml and patch0.xml instead.
Don't use unparsedrawprogram.xml, because it will wipe your qcn data(imei,WiFi Mac....)
2. QFil error;
then you can download latest version from here link: boycracked.com/portfolio/download-qpstools-flasher-for-qualcomm-chipset/
Good luck

As far as I know, you don't actually need custom recovery for the xposed framework to work. Its needed in case something goes wrong.
The framework itself is just an app that anyone can install if you have root access. After that you would need to activate the exposed framework from inside the app itself. Its not compulsory to install recovery.

[SOLVED] Quite confused on rooting B380

Hi all,
I searched for a streamlined root process of the B380 and i'm quite confused since there is too many solutions and some of them leads to bootloops or something worse
So, i just bought a new Honor 7 (PLK-L01) and it is on B190 (PLK-L01C432B190) 5.0.2 - I already got bootloader unlocking code but didn't unlock it yet and all what i want is a stock B380 + TWRP + Root.
My question is :
Can i just flash twrp (after ota update to B380) using fastboot and flash SU from twrp right after?
I read on some forums (including xda) that some guys got bootloops after flashing SU but others got it working with SU 2.62.
Can someone help me explaining the process?
Thank you. :fingers-crossed:

Huv u try out this fix? Does it solve ur problem? I'm not a dev or a modder but i suggest u to reset ur phone (from TWRP, tick all boxes in wipe section EXCEPT for internal storage and sd card as it will DELETE ALL UR PHONE DATA unless u know what u r doing ) and reroot your device if needed (ensure tht bootloader and twrp is working fine). Flash ur ROM n after tht, install SuperSu by downloading it from Google Play. It's easier btw (ensure ur ROM huv Gapps install or juz download from http://opengapps.org/)
For ur sim and sd card problem, try to scan and fix it using apps from Google Play like Phone Doctor Plus or etc. Consider also to ask the developer of ur ROM tht whether there are such issues(if it's a stock rom, make sure u download is the full update not OTA). If the problem persist, u maybe huv to spend a few bucks (if not under warranty) on ur hardware problem It may due to hardware issues.
I would like to warn u tht I ll not be responsible for any problems tht happen. So, u huv to take the risk of bricking ur phone by urself (hopefully no). If the methods above failed, try to post this matter into other threads, maybe a dev can solve this matter better 4 u Report here back to tell about the fix.
ps: anyone knows how to attach a pic without the website link? newbie here xox

Help Rooting an Already Encrypted Phone

Hi guys, I'm having hard times trying to root an already encrypted Honor 7.
What I tried:
-SuperSU.zip: the best effort was to corrupt the boot.img
-Kingroot: useless
I need your help.
Thanks
Use SuperSU v2.62 for root, link below. You can update it to the latest version from Playstore after rooting. (Worked for me, B380 eu firmware.)
