I've looked to disable the camera shutter sound.
Tried to rename the ogg in media/ui -> still sound.
Tried to change in build.prop -> havn't find the option.
Can someone help me ?
It must be not so easy. For some legal reassons in some countries. Its ilegal to shot (on pic) someone if they dont know to be shoten. The shooter sound inform everyone around and make the pic legal.
before entering camera make sure your phone is on silent
Right. If it's on vibrate you will not hear it.

Hmm that's weird. Maybe some carriers/regions don't do it. No sound on mine while on silent with sprint anyway.

Anyone else get this? Randomly I just checked and all my volumes were maxed out and I didn't touch anything lol...I do notice that system volume maxes out by itself even when I lower it..I'm using sound manager as my volume app btw

Maybe you should post this in the Nexus forums! J/k. Nope I haven't any issues w/ the volume changing on its own.
Lol I must just be nuts...maybe I did accidentally adjust it and didn't realize it...either way, atleast it got louder and didn't go to zero like some phones...haha

Nope, you're not nuts. I use AudioManager and after silencing system volume, it will restore to the loudest setting on its own. However, I haven't noticed it with any of the other volumes.

Could be the app is not playing well with this phone.

Or I'm wondering if system volume doesn't do anything on this phone...maybe they got rid of system volume so it just defaults to max. It hasn't effected any of my volumes yet...I don't notice any noise to be maxed out

Nah man,"ghost in the machine" it's not satisfied just with the Nexus.
I posted about this a couple days after I got my phone. I didn't know if we had sound profiles in Sense I was unaware of or something. I since haven't had the issue, so I don't know WTF was up. Maybe the volume rocker is active even when the screen is off and my pocket pushed it?
I noticed mine sometimes is lower then what I set it at. But I wouldnt doubt it being accidently pushed!!
Btw,I may not have experienced the volume issue, but the Google search screen pops up regularly and this wifi screen pops up occasionally also even though I always leave wifi disabled.
No phone!!!... Bad!!!
Is it the one to notify you WiFi is available when you open an app? You can disable that in WiFi settings.
I am rooted, I went to the UI folder in media and deleted camera and the video sound but the sound is still there when I snap a picture

what kind of sound are you talking about here? are you talking about like a mp3 sound that gets played when you take a picture? if so you should be able to get rid of it but idk how since i don't have this phone yet. but if your talking about the shutter sound on the camera itself then you can't get rid of it.

The shutter sound when you hit the button to take a picture, on the evo 4g I would do the same thing then the sound is gone on here must not work that way

Put your volume on silent and the shutter sound goes away.

im pretty sure all phones (By law, at least in US) have to natively have the shutter sound (with the exception of when of all silent)
it is related to privacy, and not being able to creep/snap candid pics, hence why you cant turn it off by default.
edit: googled it, here is an article that I didn't read

I know if you root your phone you can remove the shutter sound, but is there an app that will work to do this for those of us who don't want to root? I know there are other camera apps that have the option of no sound. But we all know those cameras are not as good as the stock camera. Is there a work around or an app that will work?

There's an option in the stock camera settings to turn the shutter sound off. No root or any other apps required. Just look in the camera settings, you'll find it.
You didn't look very hard. It's not even in a sub menu, just straight under options.

I'm in Sprint and I definitely do not have shutter sound option. The gear icon are the only settings I have

I found the option on my AT&T phone, but it doesn't look like there's an option to turn off sounds when recording video?

I don't have it on my Rogers i747 either.
or Verizon.
how do you do it once rooted?
Root explorer
system/media/audio/ui
Just add .bak to the end of the sound file you don't want to use.
Not rooted tmobile S3 has the option
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
So it sounds like Sprint and Verizon don't have the option, AT&T and T-Mo do?
Why the heck would Sprint and Verizon request such a change?
Also, is the shutter sound linked to any of the other volumes, such as media volume? Or will it always sound?
Stock att has the option too. But it won't remove the sound on screen shots.

So, i really want my ringer on all the time, i usually don't get many calls but the ones i get are important. So is there a way to set all other notifications (text, email, ect) to vibrate while its still in the sound profile so my phone still rings?

I wanted the same thing. I think the best way to do it is using an app called Smart Profiles. I haven't actually tried it yet though.

Can't you do this natively?
By going into Settings>sound>volumes and setting ringtone to max and everything else to silent (slider all the way to the left should be silent), and make sure Ringtone with vibration is checked in the sound settings as well?
It should make calls full volume (with vibration) and everything else on vibrate only.
Or am I mistaken/not understanding the request?

Good call. I was thinking he wanted this profile only at certain times, but that's not stated in the OP, just my assumption.
When watching YouTube or anything else that has to do with the loud speaker. While watching a video turn the volume all the way down. I hear buzzing noises and pops. Anyone else?
Edit: I noticed this when i did the volume boost mod and promptly removed the mod. but it is still present just not as loud.

When I play videos , right after I pause it, I can hear tiny buzzing noise for 3 secs, then it stops. Whatever sound setting I use, cant get rid of that tiny buzz. May i know your setting, can you get rid of the buzz completely?
Edit : I never try playing videos with volume all the way down, I just did, and the buzz is there as long as the video is being played, but when I pause it, I still can hear it for another 3 secs, then it stops.
