Where to buy LG G5 replacement parts? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Just looking where to buy. Preferably Canada please. Need a new LCD screen since mine got water damaged thanks to my sweater pocket not holding my phone properly over the toiler (The toiler had nothing in it, only water lol) The repair company for LG says the mainboard also is busted, wanted $600 which I don't believe it, since the phone was working fine for a couple hours after, and the LCD backlight started to flicker and gave in. Only the backlight of the LCD is busted, can still see the screen at an angle with good lighting.
The G5 is the easiest repair I have ever seen in a phone. It is basically only 3 parts of the phone.

[Q] Broken screen glass repair

Anyone done this? My 800 fell onto concrete and the screen is shattered. It still works perfectly but obviously the screen is shattered.
They sell the glass on ebay for £10, or the full screen for about £70.
I asked in my local market stall and they said £40 for the repair. Not sure I trust them though, Another said £120 but for the full screen.
Is there somewhere I can send it to? I'm pretty clumsy so I don't really want to try and repair myself...
Glass and lcd are glued together and you can't change them sepparately. Safest way is to buy lcd+glass module together. You can change it by yourself, its easy. There is one perfect video on youtube (i think le55ons made it), so you can give a try.
I have done both, there's a number of instruction videos on Youtube. I'd replace the whole screen, takes 5 minutes and is very easy to do.
Just be very careful, it's relatively easy to mark the borders of the case in the process.

Mine was broken too, went to Shenzhen to buy a new one for RMB150 (US$ 20 or so).
Change according to this video was easy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCU2PWiq0Kc
One problem was that my phone was totally discharged, so it was difficult to check whether the screen worked. But the shop had an open Nokia N9 which uses the same screen. So far so good.
A few hours later when I was back home of course then glass came of the white plastic frame and was hanging loose. I fixed that with double sided tape. Seems to work just fine, so no further action for that issue.
The screen seem to have dead spots. Sometimes. Sometimes not. Would be good to have paint App to check exactly where.
Yesterday at one stage the screen flickered like mad for a moment. But today no issue at all.
I have ONE question: What is the 2nd, small, flex cable for? In the shop they told me it's no use. But must be there for some reasons.
PS: a screen image I just took. I used a paint app to find the dead spot. I wonder if the LCD is defect or if this is an connection issue. I highly recommend to get a paint app to try that when you do a LCD replacement.
Update: after one more disassembly and reassembly the LCD has no dead spots and works fine. I am not sure what the smaller flex cable is for, I presume it's the light sensor.
Update of of the update: the dead spot is back. I presume the flex cable has a broken track that was temporarily connected last time. Seems that's hard to fix. Need a new LCD then.

[Q] Galaxy SIII touch screen unresponsive

About a month ago, my fiance dropped his phone from the work truck (about seven feet) and of course, the screen cracked and had a big spider web on the upper left portion. Oddly enough, the touch screen still worked fine. While functional, the spider web annoyed him greatly, so we got a new glass screen for the phone.
We originally purchased the wrong model (he has a r530). When the screen wasn't working I took the phone to a repair shop and the guy said I very well could have gotten the wrong model screen for the phone. So we bought the correct model screen for his phone and the same thing happened. The soft buttons are working, the noise works and it lights up just fine. The LCD screen is in perfect condition and the guy at the repair shop said I replaced the screen perfectly (I used the plastic tools and a blowdryer and kept the heat away from the center of the phone and took my time. The original screen came off in one piece and I didn't run into any problems during the replacement.)
We recently ordered a new screen, thinking the last one we received may have been defective. However, after placing the new screen on the phone, the same exact issue arises where the soft keys work but the actual screen did not.
So...I was hoping for some help/advice. We really don't want to have to buy the LCD/Screen/Digitizer combo cause it's soo expensive. Could the digitizer have somehow been ruined during the replacement?
Thanks for any input you have. It is greatly appreciated.
well, did you replace the digitizer? if yes, then the issue is in the motherboard

I haven't been able to figure out how to replace just the digitizer, nor have I been able to find where to buy just a digitizer. Do you have any suggestions?
From what I understood, the digitizer was integrated into the LCD screen but I may be mistaken.
It's not the motherboard because if I take the motherboard from his phone and put it in mine everything works fine.
Search for the screen replacement how to and also you tube video .

touch is the digitizer's responsibility

Replaced Digitizer, now Soft Keys don't light up

Hello,
I'm desperate for some help. My girlfriends Lumia 920 got a cracked glass the other day, so I ordered a brand new OEM digitizer and adhesive and fitted it yesterday. All seemed well. Anyway last night we noticed that the soft keys don't light up anymore.
I assumed they scavenged light from the LCD screen but maybe they don't? Are they on a connector? Are they LED's? Has anyone else made this mistake before and knows how to rectify it, or is it a defective digitizer
Any help?
same issue
I have the same problem , mine worked fine then after replacing the glass/digitizer the touch and the lights at the bottom don't work. with the first one I thought it was bad , so they sent a second one. it does the exact same thing . so either the phone got messed up or maybe the replacements use a new chipset that does not jive well with the phone .if anyone needs parts for their phone I will part this one out. I got a new one from a pawn shop for $150 so it was not worth replacing the whole chaise to fix it ($99 online) . the digitizer/glass is brand new , maybe it will work for someone else and the battery, camera and lcd work fine as do all the buttons and charge ports.

Need help with screen replacement for VS985

Well finally broke my screen on my G3.. only appears that i broke the glass and not lcd/digitzer but from what I'm reading it's all sealed and not worth my time to try to separate?
I found this site that has LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Front Housing (No Small Parts) for $89 which doesn't seem horrible. Just not sure what they mean by no small parts, I'm assuming they're referring to the cameras and motherboards.. Can anyone verify this is my best route? New to fixing phones, worked on plenty of small electronics just not a phone but I'm not near an upgrade and actually like this phone so replacing isn't an option.
Thanks for any help.. the broken section is causing my phone to do some wild things. =o/

No, do not waste your time attempting to separate the glass from the LCD, you WILL break the LCD.
You would come out a little bit cheaper ordering the glass and LCD assembly alone BUT it can be kind of a hassle sticking that part down.
Ordering it with the frame/housing is 100% how I recommend going about the screen repair for a G3 since it comes glued to the frame/housing... it's less of a hassle you'd have to worry about. Just transfer all of the internals to the new frame and you're golden.
However, I will recommend that you order the screen from the link I provided below... as the warranty on this screen will be good for 1 year, plus it's even a little cheaper. They are just currently back ordered until the 7th, but it's well worth it for a 1 year warranty.
Good luck.

LG G5 broken glass

Hi all,
Recently I had an accident in which my G5 was dropped and the glass shattered. The good thing is the glass broke only in the upper area around sensors, and the display area is just cracked so I can use the phone.
Now, the situation is that I am in Indonesia currently, where the G5 SE is sold, not regular G5 which I have. I went to the service center and they told me the spare parts are not the same which is real surprise for me, because I thought the only difference is in the processor, not external hardware differences.
I checked in some regular phone service stores and they also say they can't get the part.
I would like to order it, but wouldn't like some knock-off screen with bad colors from ebay, so I would like your suggestion how to solve this issue the best way, because I won't be going to Europe till New year. So can I order from LG somehow?
Also, is it possible to replace the glass only because the LCD is working fine? They told me it's glued together so you have to replace the whole LCD.
Thank you.
Regards,
It dont look easy to split glass and lcd. Take a look here https://youtu.be/bS9mtqfGTGI
I am happy to see the screen is glued now and not with tape like it was on g3, becuse on g3 the tape failed and glass started to fell of by itself.
