Phone took a plunge in the toilet 4 days after I bought it outright. Not fun. The backlight on the LCD is not working, just wondering if this is a good buy for the price. Itll change the colour of my phone, but im planning to get a skin/wrap for it anyway.

I remember a while back that alot of us were breaking our glass above the lcd display and had no way of fixing it. At the time, a couple of months ago, Viewsonic kinda told us that we were out of luck as they did not repair or sell the glass. I tried calling Viewsonic today and was pleasantly surprised. The gave me an RMA number and I have to ship it to them. They are going to replace it with a refurbished unit. Now it is not free, 150 bucks, but it is better than purchasing a new one or getting a Xoom for 600 bucks. It is worth a try if you have this problem, the number I called is (310) 228-4000, ask for tech support and explain the issue. They do not care if it is rooted or not, or even if it has Tap n Touch or not. I figure with all the returns after Christmas they probably have a bunch of refurbs and now are providing them to customers, just a guess. I tried searching and could not find a post for this and apologize to all of this is old news. Hope this helps someone.

I broke the glass screen, called (310) 228-4000 on 12/1/2011, they sent me an email with an RMA# and told me $145 for a new screen put on my existing tablet. I am sending it to them tomorrow. I did have 5 or 6 small scratches here and there so it will be nice to have it look new. I never had it in a case and I plan to give it away once it is fixed. It is such a great computer I really got my use out of it.
Scree replacement.
Please check this thread The [Tips] collection thread , and look for 'screen replacement'
It was done, and perhaps with cheaper price tag.
Dave,
That does have an LCD replacement but not the glass. Although many people have been looking for a new LCD and the new one does have better contrast and slightly better viewing angles. It is $55 from amazon.
I am looking for a broken G-tab for a price lower than 125 USD. Please PM me if you have a broken tablet and what is wrong with it.
broken in what way?
like shattered screen and melted
or like bricked?
since it is unbreakable I would say shattered screen. Or none working battery. All I am interested in is the mobo.

I just might be interested. Let me think about it and get back to you.
Are you in the United States and if so, where?
Yes Im Orlando Florida
Have a broken G tab
Honest to God -
I knocked my friends G tab off my desk, and bought it.
The glass is the only thing that shattered. I've turned it on, the screen works. I can't get past the unlock screen. I've plugged a mouse in, but I still cant get past that dang unlock screen.
I paid full price for it... I'd be more than happy with anything near 75-100 bucks.
I live in Nashville. Have it ready to ship ASAP. paypal is fine. money order is fine...
PM me for details.
Thanks guys.

Well, I am a little worried about your low post count here. Do you post on another Android forum so I can check your reputation?
Man, I totally understand your concerns. And you're legit in asking about it... I don't post on any android forums because I've never had an android device. I found this forum looking for a way to to replace the screen. I called viewsonic, and they offered me a replacement for 175, which, for a 269 dollar tablet didnt make sense to me.
I mean, I can be as transparent as you want me to be. We can skype, you can check out my facebook, we can talk on the phone... I can take pictures, I can make you a video... we can do whatever you wish. Honestly, I'll mail you the tab, and you can send me what you feel is fair. I'm really removed from it. I'm just trying to recoup as much as I can from dropping the tab.
If anyone is selling parts, I'm interested in inquiring about pricing the Internmal mainboard. The one with all the connections (USB, Mini USB, Micro SDCard, Audio Jack, and Power Connector Tip.
The board must be FULLY FUNCTIONAL!
I've got a broken g-tab as of tonight. G/F dropped it and screen shattered Still works fine though, just has a fair amount of spiderwebbing in the middle of the screen. I'm gonna miss this guy
Anyone of you guys want to buy it?
Edit: Noticed someone commenting on post-count previously. If anyone's interested I'd be happy to give you my email / phone # etc., and send you pics / vids of it working.
Broken G-tab/ buy it. take it...

My wife's Rezzie has a cracked screen. Nothing seems to have caused it. All was fine when she put it on the counter. An hour later, it's got cracks running all across it. The digitizer still works. It doesn't appear that any shards have worked loose.
A quick check on eBay shows that used Rezounds are going for around $200. That's not a great deal, since we've got a discounted upgrade available at VZW (though we'd have to extend our contract -- yuk). The phone is off warranty and doesn't have insurance on it any more.
There's an excellent repair place near where we live that can do the work in an hour, but they charge about $175. The parts seem to be available on Amazon for about $30-$50. However, the quality and results for DIY repairs appears to be somewhat mixed, and the process looks to be a bit involved.
So -- do we leave the phone as-is? Try and repair it ourselves? Send it in for repair? Buy a used one? Buy something else? Interested in y'all's thoughts.
Personally, and I say personally cuz I'm good with detail and following instructions, I'd say try to fix it your self if you mess up your out like fifty bucks and have to get a new phone anyways.. but that's just me I just ordered a LCD, digitizer, and tools off eBay for my incredible gonna give it a try my self in few days.

I got my replacement glass/digitizer for $20.
Just be careful to document all your steps if you do it yourself, as I forgot to put the pieces for the capacitive lights back in.
Has anyone had any luck getting this phone repaired out of warranty? Im having a hell of a time finding a place that can/will do repairs on this device, most of them cant even get parts.... The last HTC i had also had a blown speaker.. I was able to order a new speaker on ebay for a few bucks and replace it my self in about 15mins. Obviously not the case with this one
The cost really outweighs the option of the repair. I had my first one 3 days before the screen cracked. Now im not sure about now but the glass alone for the repair was going to cost the retailer 200.00. You could probably buy a newer or new One S off Craigslist or Ebay for less than that. Turn around and sell the broken one to.an.electronics shop for parts. That's what I did. I work for T-Mobile so getting a new one wasn't a problem. There's a guy on here that asked for a donor One S. He is experienced with glues and thinks he can find a way to open it. If he can then a repair may be an option. Most electronics.stores will just say the it was not built to be dismantled and refuse to work on it. Good luck man
So,I dropped my phone and it happen to crack the LCD display. so I went to Verizon to get new phone through insurance and it turns out the jack [email protected]@ at the store never put insurance on neither my son phone or mine. I've been looking online for the LCD display and it seems like the only ones I can find Have a digitser with them so I'm kinda assuming you just can't replace screen.if anyone knows of place to just get the LCD display that would be great otherwise I'm going to just sell it cheap. the boot loader is unlocked and you don't have to use safe strap

I dont have insurance on mine or my sister's S4, on Verizon. When she dropped hers and the screen cracked, it slowly "dissolved" until the screen was unusable. When she called Samsung, they said they still have a limited one year warranty, but it costed her $200 to replace the screen because it was her fault, not something the phone would do like not get signal or something. If you dont want to spend that much money, your best bet would be to sell it and purchase another out of contract if you can.
I have the galaxy nexus and getting HTC one.I just can't see spending another couple hundred to get it fixed. So guess I will just sell it..cheap real cheap
