Wake Up Lag if Phone is in Deep Sleep - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

Hello,
if my phone is in deep sleep and I press the power button it takes up to 5 seconds until the lock screen is showing.
I have already done some research, but it seems so that i am the only one with that problem.
Does anybody do have a fix for me?
Regards,
Chris

I also experience this so you are not alone. Standard OTA update. I've factory reset twice with no improvement. The issue extends to the FP scanner where I assume it detects the correct FP and yet doesn't bring the phone out of deep sleep for 5sec or so. Frustrating as everything else is very snappy.

It started happening for me after the latest update (June) - used the twrp zip version though (not ota).
At least I didn't notice it before that, but maybe it did as I've gone back to eragon 2.8 & I've noticed it on this too now.
It's as if the phone wakes straight away, just not the screen - if the lag is long enough, when the screen finally comes on you can see it's already dimmed ready to go off, in which case it only stays on for a further couple of seconds.
Anyway we can change this?

I'm not sure what happened but mine went away after the last update. The only thing I changed was remove an SD card that was faulty and reset... FP scanner issues went away and phone locks immediately

What you said jogged my memory - my SD card became faulty after the latest update (June), the same time i got the screen on lag. Anyway I removed said SD card this morning & no lag ever since.
If you're wondering why I keep a faulty SD card in my phone, well it has worked again once - i kept getting a message saying SD card ready but after pressing OK nothing changed. Then one day I saw a message saying checking SD card, I clicked on it & it was working again, all my data as it was. But then an hour or 2 later it was as if there wasn't any SD card again, just like before. I have no idea what's going on with that as it isn't even visible on a PC. I think it was something to do with the update though...

MicroSD causing high temperature, high battery usage

First off, I tried searching around and couldn't find anything relating to this. I found things relating to high temperatures and abnormal battery usage but found nothing about this being cause by a memory card.
Anyways, since inserting a 4GB SanDisk memory card into my phone the battery gets drained very quickly. What makes this even stranger, when I plug the phone in to charge, the temperature gets very hot (~48C) and the battery doesn't charge. I'm assuming it doesn't charge because of the high temperature.
Since removing the memory card the battery life has returned to normal and the phone charges as it should at normal temperatures.
I'll appreciate any help or tips on how to fix this issue.

I would assume that the SD Card you have is faulty somehow. I would first try another SD Card to see if it also causes the same problem. If it does then it is likely a hardware issue and if it does not then you know it was a faulty card...
Just my opinion... Anyone else have any advice?
Use something like OS monitor to see if the media scanner process or DRM processes is going nuts.
It may be that you have some media on your SD card that the media scanner cant deal with and it causing it to get stuck, try backing up and formatting the card.
Also what rom are you on?
Well this is something, I re-inserted my memory card and now the phone doesn't boot up properly. I tried removing the memory card and it still doesn't boot up properly.
Usually the screen with the 'S' that says Samsung Galaxy S II goes away after a second or two, now it stays for about a minute and doesn't even take me to the home screen. It takes me to the screen that says "To begin touch the android" (the screen you see when you turn the phone on for the first time and asks you to setup a google account) but heres another twist, I can't interact with that screen because in the foreground there are several errors saying Sorry! --- application has stopped please try again and these errors just keep looping.

Your best if you don't want to have to format your phone is to use odin to flash your stock rom again (make sure its a non wipe package)
That should leave your user apps/data but you might lose stuff like sms's.

Is your phone brand new? Did you just get it?
I had a Motorola Xoom Tablet that was like that right out of the box and I had to Factory Reset / Wipe the device to fix it.
Follow the advice of the previous poster and try to flash your stock ROM again with Odin and see if that fixed the issue and if not then you will likely have to Factory Reset your device.
If THAT fails then it is off for a warranty repair or to a service center Id assume...

After clicking force close about a hundred times (literally) I managed to get back to the home screen but I've noticed some stuff has changed, See where it says Phone Contacts Messaging Applications in the middle image for me it just says Applications.
Any idea as to whats going on here?
EDIT: I just noticed if I try to open an app, the app crashes instantly.

I've had this phone since July (when it became available in Canada). It worked flawlessly until I decided to put in a memory card a few days ago.
EDIT: And I just tested the memory card in my old phone and it works just fine there.

[Q] weird CM7 experience

I recently decided to try CM7, SD card install, on my 16GB Nook, after running Indirect's Root+Gapps. Install went well, looks great, but I've experienced a couple of odd problems.
On two occasions, my WiFi would fail to come back after sleep and, when I went into Settings, it showed "Shutting down..." It seemed that it couldn't complete the shut down, and would not turn back on. Finally, both times I rebooted, and it came back fine. On both occasions battery was well charged.
The other problem appears a bit more serious. Yesterday I charged the Nook to 88%, unplugged it, put the screen to sleep, and went to bed. I would have charged it completely, but didn't want to leave it on the charger overnight. When I picked it up this morning, it wouldn't come on at all! Totally non responsive. I thought "Hmmm, battery?" and plugged it back in. A few minutes later, it came on, showing 2% battery.
Apparently, it had completely discharged over the course of 8 hours. Now I'm at work, with the nook plugged in, showing 32% charge, and it seems to be working fine.
Has anyone experienced either of these things? Does anyone have any advise to try?
Okay, first things first. Lets back up a bit.
You say you have a CM7 install on sdcard, but that you also used Indirect's root + gapps.
What exactly did you do? Did you put cm7 on an sdcard while also rooting the internal rom? Or did you put clockworkmod on an sdcard and then install the zip file to root and install gapps on the internal memory?
Ah! I'd been running Indirect's root for several months. My 3 year old got ahold of the tablet, deleted a lot of stuff, etc. Since I was going to have to do so much to get it back to normal, I decided it was a good time to play with other ROMs.
I used Ubuntu recovery to reset completely back to stock. Then installed Root and CWM, but not Gapps. I then booted into recovery, mounted USB storage, copied CM7 to the root of the SD card, factory reset, clear cache, rebooted, and it all came up normally.
Theoretically, I should have nothing on except for CWM and CM7.
And, as I said, it's working completely as expected, except for these issues.
Thanks for your response. I'll be glad to give any other information if I've forgotten anything.

This is the part that confuses me and I just want to clarify. You say you copied CM7 to the sd card. Did you install this zip file then via "install from zip" in clockworkmod recovery?

i too have had the wifi problem after sleep. it's been mentioned by several forum members , so is a bug. the recommendation ( and what i do also ) is to have the link ( to wifi ) on the desktop, and toggle it off when you know you're not going to be needing it.
Cubanluke88,
Yeah. I downloaded the image, burned it to a formatted SD card. Inserted the card, and held down the "n" and power key until the Nook came on then went off. then pressed only the power button to boot into CWM. Selected "Install .zip from SD card," selected the CM7 zip and confirmed. After the install I reset and cleared my caches, and rebooted into CM7.
I've installed a few ROMs on the Kindle and the Viewsonic G-tab. I don't know of any other way to install a ROM. I don't think I'm doing anything differently than anyone else...
Thanks old_fart,
I'll definitely give that a try!
Ok perfect, now I have a more complete understanding of your current setup. Your wording in the original post was just a bit weird (no fault of yours, this stuff takes some getting used to).
So basically right now you have CM7 running on the internal memory and are having some issues regarding battery drain and wifi disconnect.
As for wifi, as someone else said, you should toggle wifi on/off as necessary. I'm not sure of the Wifi settings on CM7, but for CM9, if I go to wifi in settings and then go to advanced, there is an option to determine when wifi is kept on during sleep. I have this set to "never." Now with a device whose wifi doesn't have bugs, this is nice because when it wakes up it automatically turns wifi back on (my Xoom does this). However with the nook, you have to toggle wifi off and back on in order for it to do this. With this "never" setting selected, my current battery time is at 2days and 19 hours with very very little use (basically the battery shouldn't be going down while its sleeping if wifi is off).
So you can either find this setting and make it so wifi doesn't stay on while its sleeping or you can have a manual toggle (I believe there is a way to add wifi to your notification bar in CM7 settings, if its not already there) and just toggle wifi on as necessary.
You could probably find a toggle widget on the play store as well.
tl;dr it sounds like your wifi is staying on when it shouldn't be and you need to rectify that
I had the wifi issue as well, but I set it to "never" turn off (as cubanluke88 mentioned already) and I haven't had an issue ever since.
Thanks, cubanluke88!
Yeah, I'm still not completely up on the terminology, plus I was trying to keep the posts as short as possible, without leaving out important information.
I've installed a toggle widget. Seems to be working fine, so far.
I actually use the Kindle a lot more than the Nook. Nook has superior specs, but the Kindle just seems more stable...
No problem. Check out my post here for a bit of an introduction on android tinkering that should help clarify some of the terminology.

[Q] Phone keeps resetting after startup (Internal memory/battery issue)

Hello everyone.
After several hours of googling and going through tons of pages here on xda I decided to make this post.
First, let me explain when the problem started:
The issue
Yestarday I was playing candy crush when suddenly the game started to get "laggy". I didn't think of it, exit the game and left my phone on the table. A few hours later I wanted to use it again only to find the small hard drive icon on the top saying something about Memory almost full. I clicked it and it took me to "All installed programs". I saw that it had used 1.9 gb of the total 2gb and only 20-40 mb were free. I started immediately to uninstall apps that I no longer use to see if this could help. It did for a few seconds but the memory got filled fast again.
This is when I started to search the net for solutions. The first post I read was to delete some log files so i did that. But it didn't change a thing. I thought to myself that I should make a backup of my stuff so it wouldn't go lost if I had to wipe the phone. But before I got to it my phone shut down. Now, when I turned it back on it would just start Media Scan and shortly after shut down. This is where I am now.
I am running stock ROM (have never rooted before).
What I have tried
I found the stock ROM (4.1.2 I think) and I flashed it with Odin thinking this would stop my phone from restarting. It did not.
I have tried to clear cache from Recovery Mode several times with no effect.
I have tried to wipe the phone from Recovery Mode but when I am half way through the setup process of setting up the phone for first use, it shuts down.
My battery also drops in power after the shutdown happens, so in this very moment I am waiting for the battery to charge fully so I can try to calibrate.
Please let me know if you need some additional information and I will happily provide what I can.
Thanks in advance!
You have flash stock and it still shuts down? Hardware problem. Battery old? Try with charger plugged in. Flashing stock makes it like new so there should be no faults. Id say battery is about had it. What firmware did you flash and were from?
My phone (and battery) is almost 1 year old so im still under warrenty if something fails. I just don't want to hand it in and wait weeks to get it back if I can handle it myself
Yes I flashed with stock ROM from samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100 so it should be good.
It makes no difference if the charger is plugged or not (which I find odd cause shouldn't it be able to keep awake while on alternating current?).
At the time typing this my phone is online and I am currently backing up photos (yay!!!). What I did was to not type in PIN code so maybe the sim card is the trouble (also 1 year old). I will report back when everything is backed up.
Update:
4 seconds after entering the PIN code the phone shuts down. Also it plays about 10 silent "clicks". Can't hear if its from the phone or from the speaker.
Update2:
Alright so I tried inserting another sim card that I have which has no pin code. The phone boots (but only when plugged) but shuts down after statup, exactly the same place/ after the same time as when I use the other SIM and enter the code.
I have had it online for 5 minutes now without typing the pin so my guess is that it's some setting it loads with the sim that makes it crash (but its a wild guess).
It's also worth noting that it doesen't drop in battery capacity when it shuts down ATM.
Id still say battery problem but could be wrong.
I see some sort of flicker on the screen just before it shuts down. I don't know if this could help someone to address the problem.
For the full memory issue i solved wiping log files in the "/data/log" dir, i had almost 1000 log files, 1 MB each.
Hope this is your problem too.
There is hardly anything left in the /data folder. I have tried to delete the logs (65 mb) from Phone/log but that didn't change a thing. Im going to send the phone to the company i bought it from next week.
Ive recieved a battery that I ordered from china and the phone works now. So the problem was the battery just to let everyone know.
Glad you sorted it.

Reboot while charging

I have two V60s on A11 and noticed for the past two nights one of them will reboot while charging. Only way I notice is because I have to use my PIN in morning to login in instead of fingerprint and one app indicates a restart. This is a replacement V60 that I have had for two days.
Any thoughts?
Are you sure that it's a reboot? I noticed that if I leave my phone idle for a couple of hours (not sure how many, maybe 4 or more?), some kind of security kicks in requiring that I enter my pattern instead of using the fingerprint reader. Pretty sure this has happened both on Android 10 and Android 11. I don't commonly leave my phone idle for 4+ hours during the day, but it has happened just enough for me to notice it. And it definitely wasn't a case of the phone just randomly rebooting itself on me in the middle of the day. THAT, I would have noticed.
Positive it is a reboot. I actually saw it happen this morning. Phone will just shut off and T-Mobile reboot splash screen comes on. I think it is not related to fingerprint reader bug as I have disabled the fingerprint reader on my lock screen/AOD.
Actually been noticing it happens now even when the phone is not charging. I wish there was a way to see which app is causing the problem or get some kind of log to know what is going on.
Hmmm, other than trying to isolate which app is causing the problem, I'd probably suggest a factory reset.
I actually removed all apps and left with factory defaults and it still rebooted during a charge. I have sent the phone back and awaiting a replacement. (This one was the 2nd year promise replacement for a dying G8)
I had to ship the phone back and get a replacement. Everything I tried did not work to stop reboot while charging.
My LG started to freeze, then reboot several times a day, while in use as well as overnight. Sometimes boot loops directly after the logo, so not OS or app related, also without SIM or SD. I had the battery changed (still in warranty), but that behavior continued. So I got a replacement phone yesterday, since it was obviously a hardware issue (I guess it is a RAM failure).

Dual screen suddenly stopped working and battery drain

It just stopped turning on and everytime I tried, I got a toast that said to try again after reattaching the dual screen. This only temporarily fixed it and after a few times of reattaching it the phone doesn't even recognize the case anymore.
The magnetic charging still works.
Anybody encounter this or know how to fix?
Something else. I've had massive battery drain since my dual screen stopped working. At a rate of 6-7% an hour without usage. I have to recharge it twice a day once in the morning and once at night to keep it from dying on me (again without even using the phone). The battery usage only shows system as using battery.
Things I've tried.
1. Rebooting
2. Factory reset (retore with drive)
3. Factory reset (setting up from scratch)
4. Deleting LG message and installing textra. Deleting LG contacts and installing google contacts. Installing and using Google phone as default over LG.
None of these has worked. I'm wondering if it was due to the latest T-mobile update which i took a couple of weeks ago and only noticed it later.
Anybody on T-mobile having battery problem? Any suggestions?
I've had this too. Only thing I haven't tried is a hard reset (vol down + power button) but not sure if will work or not. It's annoying.
Have tried a a hard reset and it‘s still happening. I think mine is a loose connection somewhere. It will stay on and play a movie all the way through if it’s left on the table but if I’m holding the phone while using it it will turn off. No idea if it’s fixable though?

So your problem didn't start after taking the latest T-mobile update then? Turning off while holding sounds bad i hope you can get it figured out.
Now I'm convinced mine had something to do with the dual screen case. It started right after my dual screen case stopped working. I'm guessing it loosened the usb connector or maybe something from the magnet charging adapter itself.

I'm in the UK. My problems started after I upgraded to android 10. It worked flawlessly up until then. I then updated to android 11 hoping that might solve the problem but it didn't. I'm now thinking it's a fault with the screen after it played the whole of the eternals film without turning off as it was sat on the table and not touched. As soon as I try and do something with it while holding it, it turns off, but there's no specific time limit. Sometimes it's on for 20 minutes before it turns off, sometimes it's 20 seconds.
