Is MEID important to have? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I flashed the marshmallow based chinese MIUI beta rom but it didnt work well so I changed back, when I restored back to my previous rom I had lost my IMEI and MEID.
I managed to restore the IMEI and the phone works fine, however when I dial *#06# I see my IMEI number but not my MEID, MEID just says its "null".
Is it bad to not have a MEID number?`Should I try to restore it?

No need to restore as long as you are able to make/receive calls or SMS.
IMEI is used for identifying mobile devices on GSM networks, whereas MEID is used for identifying on CDMA networks.

Come on then, share with us? I've got an MEID on my phone, but it's wrong. I accidentally restored EFS from my other phone without taking a backup, now both my phones have same MEID, IMEI, mac addresses,, etc
I've hex edited the IMEI and wifi mac address but can't find the MEID. I also have no fingerprint scanner working in any rom, I really messed this up lol

I search for bootloader ics galaxy s2 if you have a link thank you
Why on earth do you want a bootloader .
Ignore this if you are highly skilled and are working on the bootloader but then again with that skill level you would not be asking .
Sammobile.com usually has bootloaders .

my sim card is not recognized by ics may be that by flashing the bootloader it will get better
No. That problem will not be fixed by flashing a bootloader. I wouldn't do that if I were you. You run the risk of bricking your phone.
You only flash a bootloader if your phone won't boot at all with a particular rom, or if you need the old bootloader in order to reset your flash counter in download mode with a USB jig.
ok thank you for your advice
post you imei here, let's see if it's fake, to do this type *#06# in phone dialer
why then my sim card is not recognized by ics?

im so sry about your phone, but the imei is fake, the only way to save you phone is to follow this guide, and if that didn't work, it's pretty much a bricked phone
EDIT: not a bricked phone i meant a touch screen MP4 player
Because you don't ask people to post their IMEI's.
What if he didn't have the generic one & he posted his real IMEI ? Someone casually reading the forum goes 'Thanks. I reckon I can sell that IMEI so someone with less than honest intentions can use it on a stolen/barred phone'.
Capice ?
Edit to add - A better thing to ask would have been 'Is your IMEI 004999010640000 (or whatever the generic IMEI is) ?'. That way you only need a yes/no answer, nobody's IMEI gets posted. If it's no, then it isn't an IMEI/EFS problem, If yes, then it probably is.

OK. Now that we've dealt with that little...interruption...time to help you properly. It seems you have the generic IMEI & your real one has somehow been wiped/gone fubar.
The easiest way to fix it obviously is if you have your EFS backed up. If you don't there are tools on Google Play which claim to help you recover your IMEI, but reports I've seen about these recently say they only have a chance of working if you have some/all of your "nv_" files in your EFS folder.
I guess what it all boils down to is are you able to make calls, use data; I.E can you use your phone normally. If you can, it may not be a massive problem having a generic IMEI. Yes, some telcos around the world ban phones they detect with a non-unique IMEI, but I've also seen plenty of instances of people on here who have used their phone just fine with the generic one.
If you don't have a backup & really really need to get your IMEI back because your phone doesn't work, you need to contact Odia on here. He can apparently recover your IMEI (most of the time) in situations where it might otherwise be really hard to do (for a small 'donation').
So first up, answer the questions about EFS backup/whether you have one & also if you're able to use the phone normally & we can go from there.

No offense meant just curious.

so this is just backin up the 2 efs partitions, modemst1 and modemst2? but in app form instead of my script?
the efs backup function has also been added to TWRP.
this could be useful until TWRP is working for the D802 international variant.

you should probably create a new thread and get help for this. Like the link in the OP said, efs folder are unique to each device because it also contain imei/esn number. Using someone else back up wont help you with your phone. maybe theres a different fix.

We could if we had something that would allow these files to be converted to a format that is readable by a hex editor, and then convert them back. I have been trying to find something like this for a while but I can't find anything. If anyone knows and would be willing to share, I am sure a great many of us would appreciate it!
Tks @hoangnova :good:
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz

Wow, that IS bad. Problem is some NVItems can't be read so when you try to write those it will write blanks (0's) or not write them at all. If you already wrote from a phone that does read them you might have corrupted your NVitems. Is insurance an option?

Im asking a few questions first, no need for attitude. And NO, I am not posting it here publicly, I am sending you a PM with a download link. So once I take out my personal info, create the qnc (sp?) file I will upload and send you a PM.
EDIT: PM sent.
For the record, I'm not the one who messed up the phone, you are asking me to send you my QCN file which contains all my info and that requires me to zero out the phone first THEN reprogram my phone, doing it as a favor, no need to get cocky.

Quest for restoring lost IMEI on V600 EA TW

I managed to erase IMEI and backup as well. Evrything got complicated after flashing AT&T firmware with Medusa. That is first time SIM lock showed and stayed on ever since.
I can get V60 to work with 600N firmware but it does not work propperly as reciveng sms takes for ever.
Now there are many threads on restoring lost IMEI by editing qcn backup from other working phone and replacing IMEI with your own.
I did that and got confi3from original owner of proper qcn file that I have indeed replaces his IMEI with mine. Flashing edited qcn file with QFIL was repported as successful but IMEI is still 0.
There are som suggestion on rewriting FSG, Modemst1 and 2 with zeroes but dd command used for that purpose report that there is not enough space.
Any idea? All suggestions are welcome and wil be tested ny me.
Thank you.
