I seem to have randomly developed a issue with Google Play Services constantly crashing. All apps that use it crash as well (chrome, maps, etc.) with Google PS crashing immediately after. I had made no system changes, greenify changes, or changes to any app wakelocks, etc. recently.
I tried all suggestions to remedy Google Play Services crashing to no avail. I was able to stop it from crashing by applying the latest OTA update. But as soon as i install Greenify and activate it in xposed, the crashes begin again even before greenifying any apps.
I'm on a Oneplus One with SultanXDA CM12.1-YOG7D. I had all experimental options turned on and most google apps greenified but i don't believe Google Play Services was one. Not sure as i uninstalled and installed the latest beta version of Greenify to try and remedy to no avail.
Disregard. With Greenify completely removed i reinstalled Xposed and it began crashing again so i'm turning each module off one-by-one to find the culprit.
Edit: for anyone curious, it appears to be Amplify that's causing the crashes. Even though i haven't made a change in Amplify for many months...weird.

I updated Xposed and amplify to the latest version. I didn't silence any processes with amplify yet but the issue seemed to be resolved.

If you have limited 'icing' wakelocks with Amplify, all things Google will crash. It is due to a recent update of Google Play Services.
Unlimiting 'icing' in Amplify will instantly solve the issue.

Maybe it is related to Play. You can try uninstall market updates. Manage apps> All> Market> Uninstall Updates.
I am getting the same thing here, I did uninstall updates, went back to "Market" instead of "Google Play Store" and it's still giving "Server Error"... I don't think it's a phone thing... I think it's really a server error in the market server. But You can still install apps using the web site of Google play store.
I have the same problem. Did anyone got it back after this error message. I'm still stuck with the same error so far.
Same thing happened to me...
I'm really frustrated by this. I think it's from the server side. But, when I tried Google Play using a different phone, I can access the store. So does that mean my phone is the one that is experiencing the problem? I don't think resetting my phone will solve the problem...
Google play works... I just checked it...
Droid x2
Cyanogenmod
The problem still there !

I have tried clearing the cache and data, still the same thing. I even tried uninstalling the play store. Then, attempt to use the built-in market app to install a fresh Google play store, which ends miserably... It still shows the "server error" message after opening it. In the end, I'm stuck with "market" instead of "Google play store".
Refusing to give up, I search for a google play store apk to manually update the market app. Unfortunately, it still shows the "server error" message. I started to give up hope on fixing the play store. :'-(
Hi all,
I fixed problem but you need to have rooted phone and install MarketEnabler app, here is a Google Play Server Error quick FIX http://viewoneworld.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/google-play-server-error-quick-fix - my blog post about it.
Its problem with some regional/provider specific markets/plays so you just need to fool it that you are from other region/provider...
Let me know if you have any problem with this fix...
Cannot root...
I've tried to root, and again, it failed. I've read that my current kernel version cannot be rooted without replacing it first with an older kernel (which I'm afraid to do so... I don't want to turn my phone into an expensive brick). Kernel replacing is just too advanced for me.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion. I appreciate your effort.

Thanks for sharing that. I was hoping wether there would be any other solution than rooting. i mean would google fix the problem? or is there an app which does not require root?

Thanks for the post but I don't believe that was the problem because Google decided to fix my account on its own. Meaning, they had the problem on the server side (I assume)

Doesnt work!
I rooted my nook tablet 8gb couple months ago. Now I noticed that all google play and etc stop working.
How could I fix it?
Did your device update? Check the version.
If it did, you likely lost root access as well as the functionality of any system apps that are not part of stock (google play qualifies here).

I have the same problem but the installed applications are still there.
This might be the scenario, since Android Market comes with the Rom it was overwritten by Google Play
I have used google play once but now its not there anymore. how do you put it back? Anyone?

I just figured it out,
go to the browser and
find google play,
then try to log-in.
you will be redirected on google play fullscreen view
Perhaps reflashing gapps would help in this case?
Hey.
Few days ago, i have updated the google play services to 6.1 version.
After that a new kind of wild wakelock appeared. No idea why. I can't find anything about that one.
This wakelock is called : "wake:com.google.android.gms/.auth.be.proximity.authorization.userpresence.UserPresenceService"
And it's growing all the time, and it happened only after the update. I've lost after i unplugged (80%) ~20% in about 1hr with screen off.
I'm using Archidroid 1 (Newest one) on latest beta of boeffla kernel. And apart from that was everything fine.
Tried to clean Google play services cache and data. No results.
Screens below.
Same thing happened to me today on Nexus 4 with CM11M10
EDIT: I think it is related to WearableService under Google Services, I killed it and the situation has significantly improved. Try doing it on your device and see if it helps.

I probably managed to get rid of the same wakelock.
#1 install Disable Services app from Google Play
#2 open it, go to "system" tab
#3 find Google Play Services, open, find "Wearable Services" & untick it
#4 et voila, ready

I also had this problem. I additonally disabled the following services in Google Play Sevices:
"com.google.android.gms.auth.be.proximity.authorization.userpresence.UserPresenceService"
"com.google.android.gmx.config.ConfigFetchService"
and all other services with the word "fitness" or "wearable" (as my former poster already said)
Hope I could also help
Thanks guys for help!
I have solved this by reverting back to older version
But i ll update to 6.1 today, and try to disable those services.
Thanks again !

Edit: I have seen you use the Galaxy S2 (GT-9100) ... This could be something different from the S3 (GT-9300)
Is there no other thread available that deals this problem with your phone?
Can you say someting about your phone?
Do you really have a Galaxy S GT-9300?
Which Version is your Google Play Service?
Which Version of Android do you use?
Do you use a custom rom?
What is listed at top of the 'Google Play Serices' in WLD? Is it still the same like that posted by the thread starter?
Best wishes

Thanks for info..did what you suggested wakelock went from 9% down to 1%. I also unchecked Nlp and location history havent had any wierd things happen to my device[emoji106]
FirekatV8/FireGearXXX
I tried but no real improvements unfortunately on my Xperia SP (modded stock 4.3), now reverted to stock play services and battery drain disappeared but nothing works...
Update...
I noticed that the battery drain was really greater if the signal quality was bad...
So if I've good signal quality I haven't same drain than if with bad signal...and there was a BIG difference...
It's normal?
Simone"Tuxedo"Monsignori
Xposed framework
Hi there,
i've had the very same problem for a cpl weeks and finally found what worked for me :
I had an Xposed module named 'Disable Google Network Location Consent'.
I just had to disable and uninstall the module (click and hold onto it in the module section of xposed).
Reboot.
et voila!!
Big thanks to my friend AoEKiller here on XDA and in RL for the help on that!

I'm still having this issue! Just found this thread recently and installed "Disable Service" app and unchecked those 'wearable and fitness' services.
I hope it really works! Fingers crossed.
Seems to work for me, this has been bugging me for a while.
But I don't like disabling stuff I don't know what they do. What are the fitness and wearable services?
EDIT:
Thought it worked, it didn't... I will have to monitor WLD to see what casues the wakelocks on my phone. I CAN get rid of it but as soon as I start to install apps it comes back.
Stuffs for android wear?
It seems like nobody else is getting this error. I'm from the moto g 4g forums and I haven't found anyone else with this wakelock. From now, I'm using disable services app, but I thought that with the new play services update it should be fine. Guess I was wrong
Maybe some weird conflict with play services and some app(s) that not all users uses? Bad idea?
Seems that I've partially solved the issue disabling the service:
UserPresenceService
After disabling that service wakelocks.was really solved...
Out of nowhere I keep getting force closes of the google play services and google play location service on boot. It also happens at random points when the phone is on. Any ideas on what could cause this? I am rooted
Me too... Stump rooted also. No build prop edits to date. Always been curious myself when it pops up. Im sure its addressed here somewhere.

Try uninstalling updates under settings/apps. Then update through the play store. I had an issue awhile back but I sideloaded Google play services from the android l dump for kicks. I kept getting fcs also and this helped. Give it a shot.

I'm having the same problem too. I just switched from a Sony Smartwatch 2 to the LG G watch, and I though it had something to do with the Android Wear apps. I ended up doing a factory reset and Titanium restore, thinking that should solve the problem. Five minutes ago I got the same Google Services message. Prior to the reset, I was getting frequent Google Location Services pop-ups as well.
Wow... this is annoying.
Same, trying to find the previous version of Google services.
Are you guys using google keyboard or stock lg keyboard.
Same error for me since using Google keyboard, but I can live with that
please hit thanks if i helped in any way. send from my g3 d852 beast
I'm running SwiftKey. For now, I've just disabled notifications for Google Play Services.
I guess my issue was my own fault. I had the location notification hider installed with xposed. I uninstalled it and it seems to be fine now. It was just weird I've had it installed for weeks and it all of a sudden started screwing up.

I know there are all kinds of mods and stuff for rooted/unlocked phones to get Google Assistant, but the official rollout happened recently to a lot of devices. Was the Z one of them? I updated Play Services and the Google app to the latest release version, and tried being in the beta for both of them, and still don't have the assistant. Has anyone got the assistant working on the Z the official way? I'd rather keep stock for Safety Net reasons.
Check your device, i got up this morning with google assistant on my moto z (verizon)
Nope, I still have Now On Tap. Would you mind looking at what version of Play Services and the Google app you have?

Did all that and nothing then it showed up a couple of hours later. Guessing it must be related. Thanks for the help.

Just thought I'd let people know that I'm in the UK and got Google Assistant working using the following guide:
http://www.xiaomitoday.com/get-google-assistant-on-marshmallow/
I changed the language back to English (UK) after and all seems to be working fine.
On a side note, you need to disable Moto Voice to allow "OK Google" to work.

Ok. Just checked again and Google Assistant got disabled. Changed the language to English (US), cleared data and tried again. Seemed to work. Had to do a hybrid language selection with English (US) system language and changed language in input settings to English (UK). It looks like that seems to work.
Just received Google Assistant, pretty useful.

I wonder if Moto plans to issue any kind of update to make Moto Voice work with Google Assistant. If you have Moto Voice enabled, you get the old Google Now but the new Google Assistant doesn't work if the screen is locked.
