Phone updated to MM while on root and now its on bootloop - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got the notification to download the new mm update but i didn't do it since i knew it cause issues with the rom, but my friend accidentally clicked it and now my phone wont boot. It will say its updating the apps reboot and blank screen if i go to download mode it shows firmware update but nothing happens it stays at zero. Please help.

I think you got a few options since you are not bricked.
1. You can flash via lg bridge the KDZ for MM no root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3356412
2. Via fast boot unlocked the boot loader and flash twrp and the rooted MM rom from Eliminater74, just make sure to follow the instruction to the letter, since a lot people have bricked their phones or end up in MM with no root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3360240

Thanks for the reply, but for some reason my phone can't go to recovery or get recognized by my laptop as connected. It even goes to fastmode but nothing happens. I cant use adb or anything.

I think if you can do to fst boot mode your best chance it's option 2. If you follow the instructions of the link
You unlocked the bootloader, flash Twrp MM recovery, in recovery flash part 1 and 2, fast boot OEM unlocked again, reboot, load super su on the SD card, flash super su in recovery. Reboot.

So this is what i did to get to recovery somehow. backing up my data as we speak.
1. Pulled out battery, put it back in.
2. Held volume down button and power till LG logo comes on.
3. Release power for one second then held it again.
4. It asks me if i want to factory reset, select yes.
5. Boots into recovery.
will post more after backup is done.

Your situation is delicate because if the update went through you can not flash any LP rom because you will bricked.
Since you are able to get to recovery you should try a cm13 rom to get out of the boot loop or the rom I indicated before.

Thanks for all your help I tried the second method http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/development/rom-v10h901v20estock-customized-t3360240
and it worked wonderfully. I can't thank you enough.

No problem thats we are here for to help each other. We all went through the same sometime.

Hi. I got a rooted V10, H901.... I didn't install any update, no new software, just for no reason my phone went into bootloop, tried going in recover and hard reseting, everything failed. Then without hope i put it in freezer for 15 mins. Then when i switched ON it started loading the OS, after loading OS again restarted and went into loop mode. I pulled out the battery and left it in cupboard, Next day placed it in freezer for 30 mins and took out and forgot left it alone. In evening switched on and perfectly running till now. SO YES MAGIC

I had an issue kinda similar like this and ended up having to flash the RUU through the bootloader. It is the stock firmware 605.19, and I had to reroot. It's a pain I know but it works

I to had to this at one point and it does work. I would first try to flash cwm in fastboot though. Sometimes that works.

My friend's phone tried to pull an OTA while he had CWM recovery installed, and it started boot looping. Had to download the stock recovery, name is PG05IMG.zip in the root of the SDCard, and force the phone to boot to the bootloader and install it. Once it did, the phone started up, rebooted itself, and installed the OTA fine. Sounds like yours may be trying to do something similar?
If so rooted phones need caches cleared for the ota to work.

From my understanding, Rooted can still take OTA, but you have to have stock recovery to do it (as I witnessed earlier). You will lose root, and will have to re-flash recovery to TWRP, CWMR, or whatever your normal choice is, and then re-apply the su.zip, but otherwise easy as pie.

Stock recovery PG05IMG.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61129367/PG05IMG-Stock-Recovery.zip
Hello, first of all I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread to try and help out. I just started having a very similar problem- I'm rooted and running stock, but apparently my phone accepted an OTA and I'm stuck in a bootloop as well.
I got into CWM recovery and downloaded the stock recovery PG05IMG.zip, but it won't install. It just aborts every time I try to install it. I'm a noob at this stuff and not very good at dealing with these sorts of things and I've been having a panic attack for the past hour, so if anyone could help me as soon as possible I would really appreciate it.
I'm really scared of making things worse than they already are. I just want a working phone.

pull battery, wait a minute, turn on phone
when in bootloader screen,
volume down, select reboot
back to white screen, select recovery ( i had to do this twice)
hold volume up and power when black screen appears
choose the bottom option (wipe cache i believe)
choose reboot
phone should be good aftter this
( idont own a thunderbolt, but i had to fix this for a nother phone, called tech support and this worked)
hope this helps - hopefully saves someone from ruu'ing and wiping their phone
Thank you for posting the file, life got in the way yesterday. Hope that fixes your situation!

The zip won't work in CWM because it's not designed for use with CWM. It's designed for use in Fastboot. Should be on the root of your sd card. From off, if I'm correct (like this with other HTC devices), hold volume down and power to boot into fastboot. This will allow it to flash the stock recovery.

Right. I also have a recovery zip that installs the stock recovery if anyone wants it?
It can be found here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61129367/OTARestoreAndRecovery.zip
(warning: I have tested it and it works but it did cause me a bootloop, and im assuming this is becuase im on a different rom - - - so not responsible for any damages)

[Q] Stuck in boot loop - rooted

My thunderbolt got stuck in boot loop about a week later after flashing Liquid ICS MR3V1. If I attempt to reboot the phone numerous times it will eventually boot up and work fine. The phone will not allow me to get into recovery - it will just go into boot loop once recovery is selected. I did manage to get the phone to go into recovery one time and I wiped everything and installed an infected eternity rom that I have been running for a long time without any issues. I thought I was okay once I flashed this rom but when I restarted the phone it went into the boot loop sequence again. Currently after 15+ attempts at starting the phone I got it to boot up without the SD card. I rooted my thunderbolt through revolutionary...if it matters?
From reading other threads it appears I need to install an RUU? Can I just install a RUU that will not un root my phone or do I need to change my modded Hboot, go back to s on and unroot? I flashed roms numerous times without issues and I always wipe multiple times and I am not sure what happened here. Unfortunately I do not have any backups to revert back to -- since I read flashing an RUU without the proper steps can brick my phone I wanted to seek advice to make sure I do it properly.
ys RUU can help you . just my own thought.
good luck to you

Sounds like something is just wrong with you recovery. Try flashing another recovery. Also, IF you're using the boot manager app, it may be acting up. If the boot manager app is on your phone, I'd recommend removing it.

Do you mean try re installing cwm? I currently can't get into cwm because it goes into the boot loop sequence. I will try this later tonight and see if it helps. I do not have a boot manager app, I believe when I rooted through revolutionary it modifies hboot? (I have been rooted for over a year now withoutproblems)

No, boot manager is just an application from the play store.
Yes, try downloading cwm recovery again.

Update - I reinstalled CWM and got the phone into recovery, and did a reset, wiped everything and got stuck in boot loop. I eventually got the phone to boot up and I deleted a couple roms, etc in my download folder. After this was done I power cycled the phone twice without any issues.

I think my phone is bricked!!

So, I flashed the root, and tested and it worked.
I unlocked using the FreeGee 0.5 and everything worked fine.
I downloaded the Base 0.4 ROM and went into CWM. I installed a ZIP, selected the rom and started the install. I got the to screen that states that the phone is installing the base rom, but it just sat at 0.00% for over 5 minutes, and then i pressed the power button once thinking I had to start it, but now my phone will not start. I plugged in the charger and the power button just blinks red continuously!!?!!
I can get into Download mode by holding the power, and volume up + down buttons. but I can't get into recovery!!
I'm just going to goto the IRC room for help. Sorry for the post.
Just use lgnpst and flash back to stock and then redo the root and unlock and u cant clear data or anything before flashing the rom

[Q] I bricked my HTC one

I unlocked my bootloader, flashed with Trickdroid, found some bug, then I decided to try the Renovation HD Rom. Got frozen during Aroma twice. Then I rebooted twice. Now my device is half-bricked. I can't get into recovery anymore. Tried CWM, TWRP. doesn't work. everytime I tried to get in recovery, it will just jump to the HTC screen. and after the HTC screen, it will reboot itself, and keep looping...
I want to try to restore using RUU, but there is NO RUU for AT&T version now.
I can't get in recovery, I can't get in the system.... I am stuck. Hopeless now.
Am I the first to brick a HTC ONE?
After 5 hours of struggling, IT got into the recovery again!!!!!!!!! didn't know what I did to make it work. and flashed with Renovation HD Rom and working now.
Update: If you keep getting boot loop, or can't get into recovery, try the ALL IN ONE kit and use the "erase cache", that fix my problem, and I learned it the hard way..

Can you still get into Fastboot?
Use android debugging USB push over image may need to add time delay to allow next available time there is an opening to load image.
Good luck

Yes, I can still get in Hboot, and fastboot
Hi I am a complete noob and just got my HTC one and went way to fast with rooting my phone and may have a bricked phone as well. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the clockwork mod recovery using the all in one kit. I proceeded to boot into the bootloader, and then went into the recovery. I backed up my phone at the point using clock work mod. I then wiped my phone to factory settings and wiped the cache. At that point I forgot that I had not put my ROM that I wanted to use on the phone storage. So i pressed reboot now. Obviously this was a mistake because there is nothing on the phone to boot off of. Now I have an HTC One that is not turning on no matter what I do and I have no idea where to start. Anybody know where I can start? It is also worth mentioning that I made another noob mistake by starting this process with 35% on my phone so is it possible that it is out of battery and not able to charge?
Charge battery copy ROM to SD card press volume up and power look for clockwork mod recovery go to SD card and install rom . Hopefully nothing more is required. Don't panic if clockworkmod is giving you brick sign usually its a sign you have wrong clockwork mod installed.

Need help with bricked Moto E

Hello,
I am new to this Moto E. It's actually a friend's phone and he though that since I have experience when it comes to LG G2 and S II Skyrocket SGH-i727, he decided to ask me to help him unbrick his device.
It's not actually bricked per se. It's actually stuck at the boot. It comes up to optimize the apps and start the android but it never ends. It's always stuck at Starting Android. I was able to get into TWRP recovery but I can't mount the USB. No matter the mode I place it, the usb is never detected. I can't find another way around to fix it. I was thinking about a clean factory reset from TWRP but I'd still like to get around with something.
Since USB is not working, can't get flash stock ROM to downgrade from lollipop 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 (that's pretty much what he wants, once the device is fixed).
