Hello,
I am new to this Moto E. It's actually a friend's phone and he though that since I have experience when it comes to LG G2 and S II Skyrocket SGH-i727, he decided to ask me to help him unbrick his device.
It's not actually bricked per se. It's actually stuck at the boot. It comes up to optimize the apps and start the android but it never ends. It's always stuck at Starting Android. I was able to get into TWRP recovery but I can't mount the USB. No matter the mode I place it, the usb is never detected. I can't find another way around to fix it. I was thinking about a clean factory reset from TWRP but I'd still like to get around with something.
Since USB is not working, can't get flash stock ROM to downgrade from lollipop 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 (that's pretty much what he wants, once the device is fixed).

No, but he just told me he previously wiped pretty much everything through TWRP... I'll try it when I get to my pc and report back with results.

U need data? if yes there is no way around it, if data not needed, flashing fastboot firmware via Fastboot or flashable zip of Stock ROM or any Custum ROMs via TWRP will boot up the phone, since phone is booting to twrp and bootloader, it can't be said bricked at all, the phone is in safe state, we can do anything if phone boots up to recovery,

Hi there,
i tried a lot of word combinations to get a thread with my specific problem but i didnt manage it to find one.
So here is the deal:
i have german galaxy s 2 (9100, bought in september 2011) and i flashed it last year with darkyrom HD something gingerbread-style.
so it was rooted and all that stuff.
it worked pretty fast and it was stable and it looked sleak.
Last year in November i put Ressurrection remix 3.x (dont know which version of it) on my phone.
It had a lot of crashes, freezes and while playing ingress it always drained around 20% of the battery within 10-20minutes.
So i stopped it. I put the last version of it 3.1.3. of it onto my phone with a full wipe, cache partition, factory reset onto my phones and the problems went keep going.
As an example:
-I couldnt access options where i can select ringtones or to see what is on the sd. it crashed and went back to the "main screen".
-Yesterday i tried around 15 roms, and nearly everything except militant rom keep crashing while iam installing them.
-Sometimes it crashes already while iam installing the rom, sometimes its after a couple of hours, that i cant access the rom any more.
-The newest problem is, that sometimes the power button doesnt respond, when i push it (in jelly bam)
Please explain, what iam missing or is my phone just broke?
It never fell down, no water or anything freaking other things.
I hope you can help me.
should i send it back or what is wrong?

i thought the kernel is already included when you're installing one of the roms?
which one should i take?
or how wipe the whole system to have it like "out of the box"?
flash a stock ROM and see how it behaves.

if you are rooted, you can try flashing NeatROM lite 4.2 based on LS8 and see how it behaves else flash official JB 4.1.2 using odin.

ok, ill try that right now..
if not using odin and try to do something with my nand???
after cleaning and putting a stock rom on it and afterwards rooting it with cwm still the same problem: boot loop or while the first installation, it crashes.
so what to do?
just hang around with the stupid official one?
If you did everything from Factory reset to changing kernel, and everything is still bad like that. I think that there's something with your phone's hardware.

just as an example, when i tried to put on the neatrom-lite on my phone, it crashes while iam selecting the country. and this is just 2-3seconds after booting into the fresh and new system.
something is completely ****ed up....
so right now, i have the militant rom on my phone, got booted up, but the power button doesnt work.... when the phone is on...
so everytime, when i want to switch of the screen, i have to wait, or take of the battery. and switching on is only possible with the home button.
whats wrong?
Given you have the same problems on stock, hardware problem. Back to stock, reset counter, send it in for warranty service (if you have warranty), if not, take it to local mobile repair shops.
reseting the counter... with stock? how to do that? i thought this is only possible with root? and i thought, as soon as i root, there is something already on the counter?

You have two option. Either flash a custom kernel (siyah, for example), then reset the counter using triangle away app. Then flash a stock firmware using odin. This wont increase the counter.
Or, if you have a USB jig, flash an older bootloader (have to careful here), then simply plug in the jig.

i transferred a few files between the sd card and the internal storage of my device, and i realised, that the device is not able to fully transfer the files. it says after 40-50% that its done. is there a flash the roms via ODIN? or how to do that? just put the rom.zip as PDA?

Unzip first.
I'd advice you to read about flashing with odin and watch a couple of videos on youtube before you put yourself up to it or else you're gonna have a bad flash, and that means trouble.

it all started when i installed a faulty launcher
my phone's in a boot loop
when i try to slide the key into the lock on the lockscreen, it reboots.
otherwise touch is working fine (emergency call, status bar etc)
but since i can't open the lock, i can't access the home screen and apps and stuff..
obviously i tried recovery, but it doesnt have a factory reset option (strange). the recovery mode only has some phone tests and calibrates
the other hard key combination opens up some black screen with "fastboot mode" written. and that's it.
my phone is gingerbread 2.3.5, unrooted. the company is a less popular and cheap one but it's not china.
long story short, i cant get outta boot loop coz recovery doesnt have factory reset option
plz help!
thanks
i did as you said. but when i erased everything and booted the phone. it's stuck on the manufacturer's logo. it doesnt even reach lock screen now.
fastboot commands are working. i flashed a new recovery, but its not accessing. what should i do?

In recovery, try to wipe cache and dalvik cache. If still, then you need to flash stock ROM

That is because when you ran those commands you wiped the rom on your phone completely so now when it tries to boot it has nothing to boot into. Please give the name of the phone so we can help you more.

Erasing the user data and cache was good, but erasing boot erases your kernel, just find the one that came with your ROM and as long as its in .img format use fastboot to flash it and all should work great

yo, the prob is, it's a recent phone, but from qmobile
it's qmobile bolt a2 lite. i cant find the stock rom (it was released in 3 july 2013, i believe)
so, can't i install some other ROM that all gingerbread phones support? it has 1 ghz processor, 256 mb ram, and 200 mb internal storage
thanks
i have a 2gb micro sd card as well
Then you have an issue, right now it sounds as you have no kernel maybe if your lucky the manufacture will respond to a request to release the kernel source or have a copy of factory firmware you can download.
Otherwise try to find someone with the same phone and see if they can get you a copy of the kernel
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
since i can't find the exact stock ROM for this lesser known brand, isn't there some universal gingerbread 2.3.5 stock rom? the manufactureres obviously use a modified version of google's stock gingerbread 2.3.5
It won't work, you can't just flash some generic aosp ROM to your phone, if it were that easy every phone would have tons of ROMs
You need a device tree that contains all the proprietary drivers etc to build from source and just flashing a random kernel or ROM won't do you any good (possibly make things worse)
You need to contact the maker of your phone and request this or find someone who can get you a ROM dump

Hello everyone, Forgive me if I seem a bit flustered, but I am. I was adding a few fonts with an app from the play store. It would restart after each fine, and there was no issue. On the final one, it restarted, but then got hung up for 10 minutes on the ATT logo. I have restarted it with the power button numerous times now, and it has done nothing different. I have only rooted the phone, I have no custom recovery or anything. I booted into the LG stock recovery, canceled the reset, and it still hung up at the ATT logo.
What might have happened, and how can I fix this? I would rather not hard reset, but if I have to, I have to. Please respond with anything at all that might help me. I'm using my old GSII right now, and the newer sim doesn't fit quite right in it. I can make calls and stuff, but i want to get back on the OG as fast as possible. PLEASE respond with anything helpful. Thanks.
I am running stock Jellybean (The initial jellybean we got, I think it was 4.1.1), rooted. No custom roms, no custom recovery.
UPDATE: I did a factory reset (by holding power and volume down). It is still doing the same thing. It gets to the ATT logo and plays the music "Dee dee dee dee 'click'", then stops. Nothing more happens. At all. I've let it sit for a while and nothing is happening. So now the question is, how can I save it with that in mind?

Sound like you need to use LGNPST or use a teenybin then flash a custom ROM. Factory reseting ( I think) only clears out the /data partition which is where all user and app data is saved. If something in the /system partition is not allowing it to boot, that is why the factory reset didn't work. To fix you have to restore the /system partition back to stock.
To do so, flash a full bin. Which will reset the phone to complete stock (no root, no unlocked bootloader).
Or you can flash a teenybin. Which is smaller and safer. Flashing a teenybin unlocks the bootloader and puts a custom recovery. From there you can just flash a new ROM.

The hardest part is getting LGNPST working properly. But that's easy now thanks to the auto install.

Apologies all, yes I got it working... Mostly. WiFi quit working completely (refused to connect), phone calls took forever to go through, and other odd issues. I'm running it off an old backup of ICS on my external SD. The issues were too much for me to handle, and I was scared to do anything more, so I've got a Moto x. I'm going to try to correctly fix the OG now, so hopefully by documenting the process I can help someone else.

i was scared to use teenybin like you but 4.4 lured me into trying. Give teenybin a try its not that bad. you just need to install it, download the teenybin, launch the program, boot your phone into download mode and run the program with the dll and bin files selected.

Hello,
I didn't do the system update before rooting the device and perhaps I should have, with the epic, touch, and note2 it was a bad idea to do system updates so I just skipped it. I rooted the phone and flashed TWRP on it without issue using the tools from galaxynote3root.com's. I then made a backup of the rom using TWRP. I then went to flash Galaxy-S-fre3-MD4FirmwareModemAIO.zip through TWRP which I think is what killed it but i'm not 100% certain, I just know it errored out / wouldn't let me flash the zip. I tried restoring from the TWRP with the backup I made, no luck.
I'm now stuck unable to get anything to boot stable, it always shows "Process system isn't responding" and dies shortly thereafter. I can occasionally get to the point where it sees icons but usually it just reboots. I think I might have nuked the modem but I can't seem to find a radio/modem thread for the sprint model and I don't know if the modems from the GSM thread are safe for the Sprint.
I have tried flashing N900PVPUBMI3_N900PSPTBMI3_N900PVPUBMI3_HOME.tar.md5 on it through Odin with the auto reboot on and off without luck.
hmm

Ah forgot to mention that I tried that, no joy. It goes through the caching of apps, sits forever at 'finalizing boot' and then goes into the reboot cycle.
Restore doesn't work and once u do that it borks your file system. Your phone is bricked and using Odin to go back to stock will not work. You can try but u need to get ur phone replaced and hopefully sprint doesn't look at your knox counter if not u got ur self a $700 paperweight

I think you got a few options since you are not bricked.
1. You can flash via lg bridge the KDZ for MM no root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3356412
2. Via fast boot unlocked the boot loader and flash twrp and the rooted MM rom from Eliminater74, just make sure to follow the instruction to the letter, since a lot people have bricked their phones or end up in MM with no root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3360240

Thanks for the reply, but for some reason my phone can't go to recovery or get recognized by my laptop as connected. It even goes to fastmode but nothing happens. I cant use adb or anything.
I think if you can do to fst boot mode your best chance it's option 2. If you follow the instructions of the link
You unlocked the bootloader, flash Twrp MM recovery, in recovery flash part 1 and 2, fast boot OEM unlocked again, reboot, load super su on the SD card, flash super su in recovery. Reboot.

So this is what i did to get to recovery somehow. backing up my data as we speak.
1. Pulled out battery, put it back in.
2. Held volume down button and power till LG logo comes on.
3. Release power for one second then held it again.
4. It asks me if i want to factory reset, select yes.
5. Boots into recovery.
will post more after backup is done.
Your situation is delicate because if the update went through you can not flash any LP rom because you will bricked.
Since you are able to get to recovery you should try a cm13 rom to get out of the boot loop or the rom I indicated before.

Hi. I got a rooted V10, H901.... I didn't install any update, no new software, just for no reason my phone went into bootloop, tried going in recover and hard reseting, everything failed. Then without hope i put it in freezer for 15 mins. Then when i switched ON it started loading the OS, after loading OS again restarted and went into loop mode. I pulled out the battery and left it in cupboard, Next day placed it in freezer for 30 mins and took out and forgot left it alone. In evening switched on and perfectly running till now. SO YES MAGIC
