[SGP521] - How creating a prerooted MM ROM for SGP521 Z2 Tablet? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Upon a friendly advice of a user I created this thread here.
Hi,
I'm trying to create a DE customized MM prerooted ROM for the SGP521 and I have no idea where I made a mistake.
Unfortunately all of my tries ended up in some kind of a bootloop - but not in a bootloop like: Sony-Logo -> Reboot -> Sony Logo->... but more in: System starting without any problem -> basic setup starting -> klicking the "accept terms"-flag -> Reboot... -> Startup -> Reboot...
Can somebody tell me how to get it working? I do not know where I made a mistake:
- I dl'ed the mos acutal DE ROM (23.5.A.0.575) via flashtool/xperifirm
- then I deleted the fwinfo.xml from the extracted FW files folder
- then I created the ftf via flashtool
- then I used PRFcreator to create a .zip (ftf in FW field, dummy_flashable.zip in SuperSU-field, recrootv4_combined.zip in recovery field, all upper flags selected (kernel etc. included), sign zip and legacy mode unchecked)
- rebooted to recovery (I have an existing NUTs Dual Recovery)
- made a system, cache, dalvik cache wipe
- flashed the new zip via twrp
The reason I'm asking here is that it seems to me a device- and firmware-specific, but not a tool (flashtool, xperifirm, PRFCreator)-related problem. And there are already some existing and working ROMs, but not in the customization I want (DE). Maybe the creator of these ROMs (Bird40) reads that and can tell me what he/she did to get things working?
I'm willing to provide you here with a DE customized FW but it has to work first before I do so...
If you think I'm wrong here, please tell me and suggest where to put my quetion best that I can move it then.
Thanks and cheers
Zap
P. S. And maybe we could use the thread here to create some MM-prerooted-ROM-on-SGP521-knowledge.

Hi Zaphod,
you made everything right except one thing, you must add the follow
https://mega.nz/#!AJcwERiQ!FUmk6eS5aoVsFSZ1f4WZIELIt7sckPCj11n0AIdCNzU
by prf creator, or alternatively you can flash it after flashing rom before restarting system. That's all.
NB: if you want to restart in recovery mode, press start button and when green light turn on and vibration, press Volume Down button.
Regards :cyclops:

Uhm, OK, Thanks. I'll try this. Although I'm not sure if that works since it is for the Z2, but not for the Tab. Or will that work for the Tablet, too due to similar hardware?

iT Works nice on my SGP521

Thank you very much! Your suggestion worked perfectly, no more reboots now, even with the actual .575 - firmware.
I'll try to create a DE-customized FW now including RecRoot and the Fix and to share it here.

I am rooting with Kingroot and zxrecovery. But I lost both on every restart. Why?
How should do?

Does Kingroot work on MM?

[Help] Xperia P Rooting

Hi first of all just want to thanks for this forum though I know it's wrong forum I think but I can't post under Android Development. Anyway thanks again for this forum again, I was able to root my Xperia P because of this site. Just want to clarify and ask some things about this one:
-In my first attempt rooting my phone, I experienced that my phone display is not normal like it's blurry. Anyone experienced that? Then I re-root my phone again but this time I chose Superuser, in my first attempt I chose SuperSU. After that, everything went fine, display is now okay then I download and installed SuperSU (granting permission with Superuser). Having those two at the same time is okay? Though I really don't know what are these two are for.
-Then after that, I proceed in CWM Recovery. At first I'm having trouble with accessing the recovery then finally I was able to access it. Then as per guide, I chose "Backup" then I just wait after that the Backup Completed then I'm just curious what is "Choose Backup Format" so I click it then it freeze. Anyone experienced freezing in CWM Recovery? And what is "Choose Backup Format"? And fortunately, I was able to reset my phone by pressing "Volume Up + Power Button". I saw it here too in this forum, to quote:

Just want to ask as well is there any list out here about some combination button? Like this one, "Volume Up + Power" is a fastboot mode.
Thanks!

What do you think CWM means?
And the way to get into it is repeatedly pressing the back-button, not the volume button.
I m new,but i read alot in this forum. Cwm is the clockworkmenu, of course. On my tablet it works fine, but on my smartphon i cant enter. I first tryt the back butto, but i cant acess the cwm. When exactly i have to press the back button? After starting the device i presst the button again and again, but i got no effect.

Flash the kernel again maybe.
Did you just get the words CWM based recovery, without any of the options underneath it?
It is a text-based menu, you need to navigate through it with the volume-buttons and select the items with the home-button. Use the back-button to get back to a previous menu.
Press the back-button repeatedly (about 3 times a second or so) as soon as the back-light comes on and keep doing that until CWM actually appears.
I flasht the kernel 3times, i also tryt an older version, same result. This evening i ll try again pressing the back button faster.
I read, that comming from an other custom kernel, you have to klear /system ... first. I come from the original Sony Rom, so it doesn t mether to me? The content of the sd card has no effect of the cernel!? I have not format it before.

Try a factory reset before you flash the kernel, don't know if you can get the original kernel back on? And no, the sd-card does not need to be formatted or anything like that, it does not stop the kernel from working.
First i reinstalled the original Sony ROM by Sony Update Service. Then i flash t again the 2.6.32.60-nAa Kernel, but no chance to get in to the CWM. Then i try t an other custom Kernel, and i get immediately access of the CWM. There i claret the System and the cache. Then i flash t again the 2.6.32.60-nAa Kernel and now i came in the CWM. From there i installed my brand new ROM and it looks very COOL

[Q] Xperia Pro unable to flash + bricked

Hi everyone,
i bought a second hand Xperia Pro which came wih Lupus Kernel and Ultimate HD rom. Now I wanted to try the stock firmware for comparison but i can't flash it.
I've followed several guides and searched on the forum with no luck. what i've done is basically
- installed flashtool, latest version
- downloaded the stock firmware and put the .tft in the firmware folder
- open the driver installer from the driver folder in flashtool and selecting fastboot, flashmode and xperia pro drivers to install
- click on the flash icon, select the correct firmware, click flash
- when the window with the animation asks for it i press and hold the volume down button and attach the usb cable. I keep pressing the button and the lupus logo appears, then nothing happen and the window with the usb cable animation goes on
i've tried several times and also on different computers... and... to get thing worse, i've just bricked my xperia :s after several attempts, a menu apeared on the display (i have no idea why, i must have done something different from the previous attempts) i think it was called lupus cwm. One of the options was about wiping the phone... i've tried with that one, then he asked me "Root access is missing. Root Device? This cannot be undone" and I choosed yes... not very wise to choose yes or no when you don't know what you are talking aobut, i know
So basically if i try to turn the phone freezes on the lupus logo and i have to pull the battery out. And, no need to say it, nothing has changed when it comes to trying to flash it with flashtool
any help will be much appreciated, i really don't know what else i could try now...

You did all the steps to flash the stock firmware ftf like it should be done! Please try to take off the battery, wait a few seconds, reinsert it and press and hold volume down while connecting the usb. A green led should light up and it should start flashing

thanks for your help. I've tried removing the battery but it's just the same. A blue led, not green, turns on for a couple of seconds on my xperia pro... i've recorded a short video so you can check that i'm doing everything properly...
OUCH i can't insert links :s youtube .com/ watch?v=_hIZMn9HrlA
so you think it's not a problem if i have bricked the phone wiping off the firmware? the flashing procedure should work the same?
MUAHHAHA got it!!! my phone is finally flashed! i was just pressing the wrong button :s even if all the guides specific for xperia pro were saying to pross the volume down button, i had to press the BACK button! and the led did turn on green indeed, as you were saying
just another question: what happened when that CWM menu asked me "Root access is missing. Root Device? This cannot be undone" and I choosed yes? does that mean i rooted the phone? and is it stil rooted or it's been overwritten by the original firmware i have just flashed?
thanks

I'm sorry, I forgot the thing about the back button instead of volume down, too
If you have an unlocked bootloader, your phone normally should automatically be rooted when you flash a custom kernel as (nearly) all kernels for our devices include this feature. But as you have flashed the stock firmware now, all was overwritten and you have to flash another custom kernel to get cwm back
ok, thanks a lot

Help with installing TWRP Recovery

Hello Good People,
My Z Ultra arrived and it was already rooted from the previous owner.
I booted up into TWRP and couldn’t do a backup because it would not display completely on the screen, so I couldn’t select an features.
I had to reboot the device by holding the power button and the volume up key.
Sadly I can no longer access recovery.
I have holding the volume up button will reboot but it simply takes me to the desktop(normal boot)
I have rooted all my devices but this Z Ultra seems a bit more complicated than others.
Can some please walk me through the steps of exactly what files are needed to get me recovery back.
Also I have the TWRP Manager.app, can I choose a file can do it that way? if so which file name do I pick from the long list?
T.I.A.
I thought I resolved my issue by downloading:
ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.7.154-BETA.installer.zip
Option 1
And it reinstalled TWRP!
Device rebooted into TWRP, I created a background and rebooted the device.
Now I cannot boot/reboot into Recovery again;(
Someone said to press the up/down button a couple of times when you see the pink LED. I dont get a pink LED it goes straight to green.
Can someone please tell me what to do?
T.I.A.
The recovery may still be installed.
Turn off the device, when you see the Sony logo and the green light, hold the "volume up" button.
You should boot to recovery.
Another option is to install Xposed and the Wanam module. Then activate the Power Options menu, which allows you to reboot to recovery.
Thanks for the response.
I was able to get into recovery, and do a backup.
After the backup the phone will not reboot. It has been hours now and no button combo will get it to boot up
Need serious help please
Did you back up your TA initially? You might need to reflash to stock and start again using flashtool and the necessary ftf file.
I would recommended this. It was what helped me start off on my XZU.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569904

Yes, got it resolved.
It must have been a battery related issue during the flashing.
In the end combined with a hard reset got the device back up and running.
I lost my root and everything so now I need to locate a ROM for this Sony version.
Thanks!
Ndrutil on the Play Store is an easy way to boot from the rom into recovery also..

[Q] Xperia x2 bricking

Last night, i accidentally swiped to restore to an older ROM that i had. Not meaning to do this, and beginning to panic, i attempted to stop it, while it was still at 0%. I did this by holding the red button down. As i have now realised how stupid that was, i am wondering if there is any chance to fix it. It is now stuck on the Sony logo. Although i have seen many problems here, i cant find anyone that had the same problem as me. I was running the existenz ROM, and the ROM i was accidentally restoring to was the official ROM. Please help me
Thank you

I had the exact same problem, I created a guide to help other people with this problem. Here it is. I can't post links yet but if you want to have a look, search for this on google ( oneplus : Xperia z2 bricked help!! ) It's the first link ( fourms Oneplus Net )
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get Sony's UI/ROM back:
Download and Install Flashtool from here.
Download a proper ( official ) ftf firmware for YOUR phone ( eg Sirius ).
Now copy the downloaded ftf firmware file to ( C:\Flashtool\firmwares )
Open the Flashtool and click on the little lightning rod and choose Flashmode.
Now a window will pop up and ask you to choose firmware for your device, Choose the one you downloaded and click flash.
--------Choosing a wrong one WILL further brick your device--------
Meanwhile, turn your phone completely off, To do this hold the Power button and the volume UP button until you feel your phone vibrate 3 times.
Flashtool will pop up saying you need to put your phone into flash/fastboot mode.
Now put it on fastboot/flash mode ( connect the usb to your computer and hold down the volume up button while plugging the other end to your phone. Your phone's LED should be blue at this stage.
The flashing process will start and once it's done, Flashtool will ask you to unplug the device and restart the phone.
The first boot takes 5-10 minutes.. CONGRATS YOU HAVE UN-BRICKED YOUR PHONE.
Now if you want to root your phone and install a custom recovery ( TWRP ), Download this package and extract it on your desktop
Make sure you have usb debugging turned on ( on your phone )
Navigate inside " to root" folder and run install.bat
Once thats done, to install recovery, navigate inside the " recovery folder " and run install.bat
Make sure to follow on-screen instructions. ( your computer and your phone )
Now you have Rooted sony ROM.
