need help root my phone (is it unrootable?) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey, my phone is samsung galaxy ace 4 (SM-G313HU) i really want to root it
i got the root.zip and put it in my internal storage because my phone doesn't recognize any sdcard for some reason.. but whenever i try to press on "Apply update from sdcard" it says down E: Can't Mount sdcard (no such file or directory )
Problems:
1. my phone doesn't do anything when i put a sdcard in it it's like i never put anything. (i dont really care but i guess i can't root if i dont have a sdcard?)
2. i get the error E: Can't Mount sdcard (no such file or directory) and no files show on the screen so i can select the root.zip
3. is there a way to apply update from internal storage?
I really need to root it even from adb or odin anything ;-;

[Q] HELP !!! Streak wont read SDCard to flash Update.pkg

hi
I ahve downloaded a pkg from dell and want to load the phone back but i am just getting errors
it says it cant mount the SDCard:Update.pkg
any ideas ??
This is the wrong section bro. Are you using the stock recovery?
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA Premium App
If you are trying to install from recovery rename the package to update.pkg. This will wipe all your apps and settings.
You must use stock recovery to install a .pkg file.
You may need to flash the proper recovery first.
See: Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
Note: if you downloaded direct from Dell tapping on the download complete notice in the notification should start the update process. This will update without wiping your apsp and settings.
followed that guide and when it should be installing from SD i get the following
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.pkg
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
sorted now, that guide sorted it, but had to change SD Card it was not working in the streak but was ok in the PC.......
anyways... I have never been so happy to see the O2 screen in my life

I had same problem with SD today. Windows PC doesn't format card correctly for phone. Remove the external SD card you are currently using. REPLACE WITH CARD THAT WONT WORK. Reboot phone until it will reboot completely. Go to SETTINGS==>SD CARD & PHONE STORAGE==>UNMOUNT SD CARD==>FORMAT SD CARD. Card will now work in Streak. MAKE CERTAIN YOU DON'T FORMAT THE CARD THAT IS WORKING!!!!!
I've had this same problem, I can't flash anything. I've tried to flash 1.9.1, because I only have 1.9, and I get the same error. I -have- tried changing the name. Doesn't work. Can anyone give me a complete step by step to fix this?
i got it solved
so... this is how it's happened to me.
when i reboot the streak after i fastboot flashed the streak with streakmod recovery, the recovery will be back to stock recovery. so... i have to delete install-recovery.sh from /system/etc to prevent the streak reinstalling the stock recovery, before it succeed to boot android OS.
so i flashed to streakmod recovery and reboot it to go into recovery mode and plan to choose "update from sdcard".
and when i tried to choose the update.zip from sdcard, there's error message:
"can't mount /sdcard"
so, i think that maybe because my sdcard was plugged into PC and got 'half-mounted', so recovery can't mount it.
so i powered it off, eject and re-insert the external sdcard again, powered it on and go into recovery mode, choose the superuser.zip to root my streak... AND... TADAAAA.... i'm all rooted

[Q] CM9: Can't open/sdcard/update.zip

Hey everyone longtime since I've done this kinda thing but i'm a bit stuck
heres what im using
Galaxy SII
Lite'ning Rom v6.1 XXKH3
Android version 2.3.4
ClockworkMod 4.0.0.2
I've downloaded: update-cm-9-20120305-NIGHTLY-galaxys2-signed.zip
I renamed it to update.zip and its on my SD card
When I try to run it I get
"Install from sd card
Finding update
opening update
E:Can't open/sdcard/update.zip
(no such file or directory)
Installation aborted."
Do I need to wipe the phone? Or get to OS 3 and then go to 4?
Thanks for the help
its been about 3 years since I used android, but i'm back!
fixed it. Formatted sd card first durrrr
Formatting didn't fix
I'm getting the same error under the same conditions.
Formatted the SD card as per your suggestion. Used Clockwork to perform the format just to make sure, and put update.zip back on it. (Noticed the format was FAT32.)
Still getting
E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Click to collapse
Am I going crazy?
I think I'm doing everything else right. See the steps I'm taking.
If you're trying to flash a CM9 nightly, do not rename the file. Go into recovery and:-
1) Install zip from sdcard
2) Choose zip from sdcard (or choose zip from internal sdcard depending on where you have the CM9 nightly you're wanting to flash located).
3) Navigate to the folder where the file you want to flash is.
4) Choose the file
5) Confirm install; "Yes"
6) Reboot & done
Do not use "Apply /sdard/update.zip

[Q] CWM J.Y Daddy E: can't mount SDcard error Motorola Razr (GSM)(Rogers)))

Hello everyone!
I am new to xda. This is my first post. I have been trying to install J.Y Daddy's boot recovery. The problem that I am getting is that after I had installed RazrBootstrap, I could not install the zip file ‘RAZR-CWMOnBoot-Global-J.Y.Daddy.zip’.
I did the following
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard
it gives this error
"E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
I dont have a sdcard (external) on my phone. Is there any solution to this problem? I am following this thread
it works off external sdcard only (as far as i know.. unless someone knows another way)

Problems with external sdcard

Hi.
After flashing the SuperNexus rom (build1) i couldn't mount the internal sdcard.
I tried to flash another rom but in CWM there was the same problem.
With this guide ("[GUIDE] Fix an unflashable or soft bricked GSII" up to the 7th step) i could flash the stock rom and the files on the internal sdcard are shown.
Now the external sdcard wouldn't work anymore. The recovery mode (volume up+home+power) quits with the error message "E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)" when trying to apply an update. If I open the settings of android, external sdcard pluged in, the process settings crashes.
How can i fix this problem?
Thanks for your support!

[Q] [HELP] [D605] See "sdcard", cant mount it...

Hi !
I have CM11 20140907 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752715 ), with 6.0.4.6 CWM. I have tried to repair it by installing CM again, but it doesnt works. I can open 'sdcard0' (its not a internal storage, i had music on my sd card and anyway i have it) by file manager/root browser but i cant mount sdcard in recovery. In recovery i can see internal storage, but cant mount sd card. I have other ROM and GAPPS (Parandroid) on 'sdcard0' on my phone, but cant flash it (cuz i have only internal storage).
I cant connect USB and open files on PC (i see just charging).
EDIT. I can connect through ADB
EDIT2. That means the sdcard0 = SD card and i cant mount it in recovery. Internal storage i can open in recovery but not in phone.
Done.
I had followed this :
PHP:
androidforums.com/vital-all-things-root/813462-how-swapping-internal-external-sd-cards.html
On D605 that was something like this:
PHP:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc3/mmc_host
I had changed it:
PHP:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc3/mmc_host
Sorry for my bad english and unawareness (translated from Google Translate, i dont knew that word XD )
So, that worked only for first time i started phone.
Now, i can connect into adb, in recovery too. But i cant connect to USB, I see only charging.. (ADB works, UMS not)
And, sdcard0=external, i cant mount it in recovery, cant open by file manager.
Real sdcard0 i cant see in file manager, but can do system backup in recovery (even if iremove SD card from phone)
I tried to update via sideload:
PHP:
adb kill-server
adb usb
[I]something about ports[/I]
error: device not found
Please, help, im noob :crying:
