LG Optimus L5 II (E460) doesn't get past boot animation - LG Optimus L3 II, L5 II, L7 II, L9 II

Tip: TLDR at the end
I own an LG-E460 since August-September 2013 and I still think the only reason that I have to get a newer phone is because of Android 4.1.2 and the limited amount of apps that support it nowadays.
That is until yesterday.
I was checking out some features on ROM Toolbox (my phone is rooted but with stock ROM and stock everything else) and I noticed this cool feature: you can change the status bar icons.
It said it was just changing some PNGs and I thought "What could go wrong? Maybe my icons will get f...ed up, and I backed up anyway so I can just restore the old files!".
Well (not so much :C) it turns out I was wrong. A lot!
I change the WiFi icons, restart System UI and it keeps giving me pop-ups saying that System UI has crashed and the phone was unusable because when I tapped OK the thing would reappear right away.
I restarted the phone removing and re-inserting the battery.
The phone doesn't get past the boot animation.Crap
I tried connecting it to a laptop with an USB cable but Windows installed the drivers, the phone charges up but it doesn't show up even in the LG Mobile Support Tool, I could try with my desktop (I am installing drivers and setting up stuff since I recently updated to W10 so I prefer to use the laptop while it does its thing).
I wasn't able to get the phone to boot in any of the advanced "modes" using online guides, and I don't have much experience with messing with advanced stuff on phones anyway (I once had to get into recovery mode for a friend's Galaxy ace for...reasons but that's not like I know anything about phones, really it's just that I'm the "tech guy" among my friends and sometimes they call me to fix their stuff and I at least have to give a shot at helping them, even if my knowledge of phones is pretty limited).
TL;DR: phone stuck in bootloop because I tried to change a status bar icon, need help!
If you can't understand some of what I wrote you can ask, I'm sorry but I'm Italian and we are terrible at English

Hi, you can search in Google how you can restore your LG L5 II E460 with Kdz.
I also tried to install Chainfire 3D on my E460 but my phone stucked on LG logo.
Then i searched in Google and i restored my device!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Rugby: various issues

Hello all,
I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any device-related subforum for the Samsung Galaxy Rugby (GT-S5690M). If my questions are in the wrong section, please move it to the right place (mods)?
So here's the story: I just got my first smartphone. Since it's locked to Bell, it has some bloatware and need for sim-unlocking. I did a lot of reading and through some tutorials I managed to root Android and got rid of some bloatware (just four Bell apps). So far so good! Then I tried to unlock the phone. There are some apps in the Google Play that state that they can unlock the phone for free ("works on various Galaxy models").
I tried them out, but none of them could provide a solution. The last app I tried (Galaxy_S Unlock) requested that BusyBox were to be installed, so I did. During the installation the app remarked that already some BusyBox version was installed, but not the version that it was trying to install. I was suppose to try another type of installing (I used the normal/safe mode). But it said it was already installed, so good enough. Right? I tried the unlocking app again, but it still said it had errors getting to communicate with BusyBox. None of the unlocking apps gave me the impression that they changed anything in the system.
I figured that maybe a reboot of the phone would fix this. However, now the phone got several issues:
- booting takes forever (18 minutes) It does the animated Samsung logo (though, not with sound any more) and then keeps on slowing the glowing Samsung name.
- the speaker doesn't seem to be working at all
- it can no longer check for updates. After agreeing with the disclaimer, it says it can't connect.
- Samsung KIES (PC software suite) doesn't see the phone any more.
- the phone is generally very slow now. Even when typing a password the phone sometimes hangs for about 5-10 seconds. Loading the disclaimer for the Software Updater takes 10-15 seconds.
I tried to reset to factory defaults and reload the rooting zip file again, but to no avail.
I've been trying to read up on the isolated symptoms, but I'm simply starting to feel overloaded with all the info, especially since I'm a Android newbie.
Does anybody recognize these symptoms and, more important, has any tips on what to try to restore whatever has gone wrong?
Additionally, I would really be interested in knowing if there's a way to force-upgrade to Jelly Bean. It appears that this firmware hasn't been made available to Rugby users yet through the regular update channels. But are there alternatives?
I have a Bell as well

The external drive will only work if you select "Enable USB Connection" in the Android menu.
I've revived my phone for a hobby project. Can't remember how I solved the above issues at the time, but it doesn't want to accept the stock firmware image. I can only find one old version on my external HDD with old backup data. Tried several Odin versions to no avail. 3.07 stays stuck at "SetupConnection". 3.04 fails with "Complete(Write) operation failed."

[Q] I need info on backing up android?

Hello, I recently rooted my android phone, but it is not the first time. Due to my last incident with my rooted samsung galaxy S2, I was tweaking certain roms and it ended up getting bricked. I found out about a program called ODIN that can unbrick my phone, but I failed at that and ended up installing a different firmware lol, yet it was still stuck at the start up boot loop animation [IDIOT MOVE] and this time the computer could not detect my phone anymore, trust me I tried hundreds of methods from different computers to different usb ports and different versions of odin and gave up.
However I have a new phone and plan with verizon and ended up rooting the phone again. I did not tweak any roms or uninstalled pre-installed default apps YET. But this time I want to be prepared again if I ever come across my phone being bricked. I am being cautious. How can I have a stable backup of my phone, so if it ever gets bricked I can use odin to unbrick it. Do I have to use titanium backup for this approach or something else.
In case someone asks, it is called Verizon LG Lucid, Model Number VS870 4G, it is 4GLite version 4.1.2. Software verson: VS87011A.
Install a custom recovery such as clock work mod it has the best backup and can bring your phone back from a soft brick
Hit thanks if I helped

[Q] Please Help, in trouble with LG Setup Wizard on LG Optimus 4X HD P880

Hello there,
I'm using a rooted LG Optimus 4X HD - P880 with the stock firmware. Or should I say I was using :crying:
Well everything started when I decided to flash some good looking roms into my rooted LG, I needed to unlock my bootloader so I did. ( I was using Os V20D_00 as I remembered but definitely a version newer than V20A_00) Everything was fine my phone got restarted and obviously then the Setup Wizard started.
That's ok till now. But after that, whenever I try to setup my phone, cause there's no way LG would let me access settings or any possible menu without setting it up, and "Unfortunately, LG Setup Wizard crushes " everytime I tried.
I should say that I have had uninstalled lg's base home launcher before (but replacing it with another app), and couple of google apps like hangouts and google plus. I never touched to G play or anything but I guess home launcher might be a/the problem, only guessing though and even if so I don't have the solution that's why I'm here
I tried hard reset
I tried to reinstall stock firmware from using kdz V20A_00 and V10F_00 both
I tried to redo all rooting and unlocking bootloader processes. Yeah they work but the problem is I'm not able to flash any custom roms or gapps also cause my PC sees my phone only when it's on S/W Upgrade mode.. That to with no access to internal memory somehow, I can see its connected to LG Mobile Support Tool though.
So I'm pretty troubled right now. I wasn't using any recovery also.. (yeah, very noob thing to do, as I am kinda noob)
Device is on warranty but since I bugged my bootloader and all, I can forget about it if it needs to go and get fixed I guess..
So I would like to know if there is any solution that any of you knowledgeable gentlemans and ladies out there know..
I would be really glad if anyone can help me out.. :fingers-crossed:
Thank you.

[Q&A] [REF] LG Optimus FUEL lgl34c

I picked up this device from walmart for $29.99 with the intentions of learning some new development stuff.I
thought for 30 bucks there's gonna be a lot of these little "duallies" running around why not a cheap candidate?
So far as i can tell there is little info found about this device so I'm looking to collect what little is known about
it in one place in hopes to get a jump on it. First things first, I am responsible for my own actions as you are yours.
If your not sure ask or simply dont do, some of this stuff can brick your device!
*ROOT*
These are the instructions I followed to root.
http://www.androidarea51.com/all-things-root/working-root-for-lg-optimus-fuel-woot/
dont forget to install supersu
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en
and busybox afterwards!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en
*RECOVERY*
Downloaded "TWRP Manager" from play store.
twrp settings, I enabled the sd card patch.
Install twrp\device name :l34c\version i instaled: openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-l34c.img
click install... wait... things will pop up..... things will go away... wait some more...
finally a dialogue that states sucess.
***ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED OF LOSING RECOVERY OR THE ABILITY TO ENTER IT AFTER
A WIPE AS WELL AS PROBLEMS BACKING UP AND OR RESTORING.
I have "injected" twrp manager into the system using titanium backup (link2sd will work also). This seems to
prevent any issues I have read about previously mentioned. Also I have successfully preformed backups as
well as restores, both before and after wiping. I have not figured out how to enter twrp recovery upon boot
yet, so be careful of what you do!
*SAFE TO REMOVE APPS*
yet to come
I use "titanium backup" from the play store, still trimming.I can get it down to about 230MB
available "free" ram at the moment but not consistently.
Ok had an issue with a task manager improperly reporting free available ram... true availability was
around 150mb free. There are apps that have to be replaced when removed, for example a launcher
for a launcher but some do not. Again I'm still trimming and experimenting, right now my system rom
around 244mb free. Most every thing I have done has been on the phone its self without the need of a P.C.
*STOCK BACK UP*
Yet to come
Any candidates for a true stock rom? Ive hacked the crap out of this one so far without the need of a back up... i know tisk tisk tisk!
I'm going for a debloated deodexed stock rom, hopefully!
*DRIVERS*
The only ones I could find that actually work. The Verizon drivers mentioned for the g2, not surprising since it runs on vz towers!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
*TETHERING*
using the android wifi tether 3.3beta2
https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
all settings untouched except
device profile
lg optimus 3d
device access does work as well as encryption
*XPOSED*
Does work, im using 2.6.1.
*DPI*
The app I'm using for safe keeping to test dpi settings
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oumugai.densityadjuster
200 not working
170 works
160 native
150 works
140 works
130 works
120 works (looks good)
110 works
Temporarily went back to native dpi for debloating purposes. Will revisit later.
After messing with DPI settings I'm having a"contacts has stopped working " when tapping on the phone app.
DPI set to 120 when I noticed. All dpi switches affect lg home launcher
so you will need another launcher.
ok so far thats what i got. whats the nexts step to a stock AOSP rom?

I've got a few of these that are bootlooping. They show the LG logo, and then TracPhone Wireless splash screen infinitely in a loop.
Two questions.
1 - Is there any way to recover them? I'm hoping for some sort of a dev tool that I could flash a stock image or something (like Odin is for Samsung phones)
2- When these phones started bootlooping, I installed TWRP on the other Fuels that I have, thinking that I didn't want it to happen to them. My understanding of the TWRP that's installed from TWRP manager doesn't flash a modified boot image, so you can't enter TWRP from a powered off (or in my case, bootlooping) phone. Is that correct? I flashed a custom boot image from elsewhere that allows me to tap vol up at the LG logo to boot to TWRP. Any idea if this is enough of a safeguard to in the even of similar boot loops?
Any chance you know how to get it in diag mode? I need to connect it to DFS but can't without diag. Thanks for your help!

My apologies for the delayed response. I have a lot going on in life.
As for recovering them, use the device you have closest to stock to make a backup. Do this before you attach your account or put any thing in to it after a "fresh wipe". To the best of my knowledge there isnt a tool like odin available, i could be wrong though. You can push a back up to the looping devices via adb. in order to do this you must have previously enabled usb debugging. The instructions are available on the web, i my self dont know how to do this. If you can establish an adb connection im sure you can command it to boot into twrp. For setup and testing use one of the devices that doesnt have a problem to establish adb. There is a little info on another thread i created about investigating the boot process the link is in my signature for the defy. Please be patient with me as i have two jobs and a single father, im not a hacker or developer. just a normal guy that is fascinated by my little robot willing to learn any thing. now that I know this thread is becoming active Ill monitor a little closer. Also if there is any thing i can help with ill be glad to do so. Im wanting to get a second fuel just for dev and learning purposes.
Recovery
Is there a way to access recovery on the lg fuel? I am stuck in a boot loop because I disabled the home screen service as well as other things that I did not pay attention to. I do not have a custom recovery installed.
I've never been able to boot to recovery by way of button press. Seems like there's a way to get into boot loader mode though. Just can't remember off the top of my head, I'm at work now and don't have the fuel with me. I'll see what I can figure out in a few hours when I get home. In the mean time you can try button combos upon boot to include the home button. If we can get ADB talking to it there's a chance I can send you copies of the files needed. Give me more details of what you have done just before the boot looping.

I bought the optimus fuel a few months ago and i've been using it primarily for a music player/run keeping devices during my jogs. I turned off mobile data and i've noticed that i still see signal bars on the top notification area - does this mean that the radios are still on?
I was wondering if there was some way to completely disable the cellular radios so that i could conserve battery life inbetween days where I don't run?
Thanks!
This is a pretty cool app....

Airplane mode and then turn WiFi back on does the trick. "Radios off" = ton more juice
Has anyone found out anything else for this little phone? I have the LG Optimus Fuel. Had it for a few months now. I rooted it as soon as I got it and uninstalled a few system apps like the LG keyboard, the default SMS app and Chrome along with 2 or 3 other Google apps. It's still running fine.
I installed TWRP recovery and a custom boot image so I could boot into recovery by pressing the up volume button. Works great. I made a full system backup and saved it to my external SD card and saved it to my Debian laptop.
Right now I'm just looking for a custom ROM for this little phone but can't find one. I'd love to get Cyanogenmod on this phone but there are none. I'd port it myself but I'm not able to at the moment.

I'll expand on the above link because no one can view all of the info in that thread w/o registering for that site [PITA].
Load towelroot (www.towelroot.com). Upon running towelroot, press "welcome to towelroot v3" 3-times (quickly). Change 1337 0 1 0 4 0 to 1337 0 0 0 4 0 (change only the ONE to a ZERO), click "make it ra1n" and you're rooted. :good:
This was verified on an L34C running Android 4.4, Kernel 3.4.0+, build KRT16S.L34CV10c, Sw ver L34CV10c.
YMMV; IANAL
My apologies for the inconvenience, I was unaware for the need to register.
What I would like to do with the L34C is find a ROM with all the phone functionality removed, and few to no Google Apps (let me just add the ones I need). I am not planning on using it as a phone (I still have my old Casio flip-phone, need nothing else). My intention was to experiment with creating a PalmPDA "replacement", something small to carry around for addresses, notes/memos, calendar (you know, the stuff you used to do on PalmOS), and in addition figure out how to do record-level synchronization **locally** (as in I don't need to send my data to some dirt-floor shack in Bangalore just to have it sent back to a device 2 feet away from my computer). Additionally, would line to use it as a basic portable media player. Essentially, trying to re-create the Palm LifeDrive on Android.
To my knowledge there are no roms available for this device. Your best bet in my opinion is to remove apps 1 by 1 after rooting. Google each and find out what the risk and severity of removing them are. I have donated my device to a less fortunate fellow employee. So as of now I'm unable to help with testing. This method is what I do for all of my devices until I'm finally happy with its performance and functionality. Think of Android as the swiss army knife of the computer world, you can do just about any thing with it, you just gotta figure out what tools are useful to you and the ones you can do with out, then you gotta ask Google witch ones Android can function with out. I hope you find what your looking for in the little robot, its a really neat world inside there!
I hate to bump an old thread but, I also don't it necessary to start a new one, at least not yet anyway but, I too am looking for a way to flash stock ROM. I have LG34Cs to use as a reference..
Where is the link to exposed framework at for this phone?
All official twrp 3 images are broken on official site. Last good working was 2.8.7.0.

Broken as in doesn't boot into recovery. The phone will still boot into android, assuming you have a working system, and within android with root you can flash a working recovery image over a broken flash with the dd command on the twrp device info page (twrp.me/lg/lgoptimusfuel.html). So no real risk of brick, just possible inconvenience that might require a battery pull.
I built twrp 3.2.1 with same sources but I have not tested it since my battery seems to have completely died and the phone won't boot with usb power alone.
Here is link anyway in case anyone is interested:

LG V10 Froze at logo screen PLEASE help cant find any answers

Okay so my phone randomly rebooted 2 days ago and when it got to the LG logo screen it froze. I tried to hard reset it, i went in to the hard reset menu clicked yes once then confirmed the hard reset by selecting yes a second time and the phone froze on highlighted yes. I have pulled the battery and tried to do this multiple times to no avail. So next i went to my PC and started google searches. Often i found things such as being stuck in boot loop which my phone wasn't, it was just frozen at the LG logo screen. Regardless I like to think of myself as self educated tech savvy (which now from reading all of your posts im not, im not even a little bit, in fact im tech stupid.) I did follow post through to the LGUP tool and downloaded a stock KDZ and got my phone into download mode>firmware update screen, i was able to get al the correct drivers and get LGUP to recognize the device and i loaded the stock KDZ and tried to do a Complete wipe reinstall. The program as able to interact with my device and went through the process, i thought i had fixed my phone. After a fresh install(or what i thought was a fresh install) i rebooted after the update and went to the LG logo screen and froze. The only difference is now when my phone starts, right before the LG logo appears i get the green android robot with what looks like open working "guts" real quick before it goes to the Logo and freezes. So back to the drawing board and i wanted to attempt some of the things ive seen like TWRP recovery etc but here i am getting lost. Forgive me if im posting things that have been answered but i keep getting confused. I dont know what the difference is between fastboot boot loader recovery mode or any of that is. also i kept noticing time and time again that my phone has to be in USB debugging mode and i dont know if it is. I cant turn my phone on to get it into USB debugging mode now anyways. Im okay with my warranty being voided and im okay with rooting if thats what i have to do to make it work. I have installed ADB and fastboot and some twrp recoveries etc but im clueless. Lastly know that i never Rooted my phone or anything but i was a torrent downloader. forgive me im triyng to provide as much information as possible.
PLEASE NOTE - I had to sign up to post here obviously and i loved how it said if you have an IOS go buy an android and come back LOL
