Reformatted my SD card from Internal to Portable after weeks of errors. I Used Aparted app to Partition (I Don't have an SD card adapter slot on my Computer) to partition 90% of my 128gb of space and the Rest formatted to ext2 to use Apps2SD.
When i get to the screen "Please extract Sd card and Insert back in" It would Error Out. I Notice now that my SD card says 119gb free instead of 128gb, after reforming. Is there anyway I can get back the missing Gigs? I'm using a Samsung 128GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Card Bought from Amazon.
128GB never are 128GB since the conversion from bits to bytes takes off ~8% which would be around 117.76GB.
It does not have anything to do with your format, your device, your SD card or anything else.
Hope I could answer your question .

Thanks for reply. I did some research and figured that was the case. I'm just gonna reformat once I get my laptop cause my SD card is still corrupted but usable. Its showing up with a random name when I plug it into my pc.

Can you please tell me from where you got those statusbar icons?
Sure, download lunarUI in the playstore
Here's a Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=yadesign.lunarui
Finally got my laptop and Reformatted and partitioned 90% for storage and the rest ext2.
Just need to move my apps now. Need to do some research so I won't mess it up again. Anyone know how apps2sd work?

Hi,
My phone shows that the internal storage is full only like 700mb free, I don't know why, it shouldn't be like that I checked in my computer by mounting the usb storage but nothing exceeds a couple of mbs, anyone knows what can I do?
Someone correct if I´m wrong, but internal storage is not the same thing that shows up on your computer when you plug the phone via USB.

Generally correct.
Now basically our phones have 2 separate storage components. Internal Storage and Internal SD. Internal Storage is ~2gb and is used for Apps & Games. Internal SD is ~12-14gb and is what is detected when you mount usb storage. Int. SD is used for storage of say.. pictures and music and what nots.
Next time please do a search. Or wiki it.
Ok so my internal SD is the one that seems to be full, any ideas on how to fix this?

move some apps to sd card
Transfer your porn to your external sdcard. That's what I do.
The thing is, my storage is NOT full, it only shows that is full I checked and I dont have anything on there!!
Post a screenshot or two of your About>SD&Storage and you'll get more informed answers please
This is what I'm talking about, the usb storage appears as full even though I have absolutely nothing in there

Nope, Stock KI3 rom and speedmod's kernel
Do you have a lot of nandroid backups? As they are big and stored in the internal sd card.
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup is where there stored.

No dude haven't done any backup of anything, well only apps with titanium but checked and thats only 400mb.
I have a Sandisk mini SD card which is 8GB (7.78 ).
When Installed Custom Rom . I tried something with CMW and formatted and partitioned it. It showing now is 6.4Gb space and 1.38GB space is missing.
I checked with DiskManagement. it showed the rest 1.38 GB space. I tried to Unmount that and now its showing 2 drive in 1 SD card.
There is no option to change that to 1 ( 8GB ) Drive.
Need Help.
Thank you,
Ravi Nazre
Edit:
Now it does not show the unmounted Space in the Diskmanagement. I am Amazed! but most important here is how to get it back to normal.

Hi beston94,
Thanks for your Help.
I tried the Panasonic SD formater. That shows 6.41 GB. I tried FULL WRITE Erase. Still the same. Now it does not show in Disk Management that there is an unallocated space. I have attached the screenshot.

You obviously re-partitioned the SD card to have 6.4 gb and 1.38 gb partitions. You will have to re-partition the SD card again. Formatting alone won't re-partition the card. It will just wipe what is on the main partition, which looks like the 6.4 portion.
Yeah!
So How do i re-partition the SD card again ?
What are the steps involved without using a 3rd party software ? ( If there is.. )
or Please let me know the name of the software which does that.

You can't do it the same way you did the first time?
I was trying to port a ROM to my phone, but I can't get the SD card to mount properly.
It DOES mount but in a weird way.
The SD card shows up in Settings>Storage but it is divided up between internal storage and SD card.

The 32gb sd card is showing up as internal storage while the files on it are coming up under SD card. And as you can see, there is no option to unmount or format it but a greyed out option to mount it.
And if I take it out and put it back in, it doesn't mount even in this way until I restart the phone.
Apps like ROM Manager/Camera say that the SD Card is not mounted while apps like gallery and apollo can read my images and music off of it.
Could somebody please tell me what could be wrong and how could I possibly fix it.
Bump.
Please someone give some clue. I am also experiencing simillar problem while porting for my phone

Except I can't even access the settings>storage because it FCs.
And when I plug in the phone to my computer, it doesn't give me connection options. It just charges.
Any help?
What worked for me was to put the 'storage_list.xml' file from the old framework-res.apk (BASE) to the new framework-res.apk (PORT).
What worked for me was leaving the ports vold.fstab there
Sent from my myTouch 4g using xda app-developers app
sadly none of it works for me

Problem with Storage
Do you have now the permanent fix with this problem?
i tried both the storage_list_xml and leaving the vold their.
but none works for me, I can't still change the default write disk to internal storage, and the size of the internal is not correct.
4gb is the built in memory but it says 16gb when porting roms.
thank you in advanced.
sd card not detected
I ported rom to my device...
The prob i m getting is that of 0 mb internal storage and no exterior sd card is shown
Neither gallery nor file manager is showing any thing.
I did everything lyk storage list replacement
Vold.stab replacement
But nothing worked
As i click storage option in sd card mobile reboots
Both the storage r shown in recovery
But not through usb or in device
Plz help me out dev....
Here's the deal.
Today I woke up to my phone charging by the night... but it downcharged to 15% of batterry. I reboot it and find out that my SD card showed up info of being "empty". The minitool partition wizard on a PC shows me that info:

no no, the memory card is 8GB not 32MB.
How to recover the partitions? Also, the SD card has been partitioned for use with app2sd programs with this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning, because my phone (HTC Explorer "Pico") has a very small amount of internal memory. The rom was stock though.
Of course I could re-format it, but I don't want to, because the data stored there was very special to me. I want to recover it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
I had that same problem a while back. I unmounted the SD Card and put it in another phone and it still said the same. So I soft reset my first phone, put the SD Card back in, and all was good.

But the card couldn't be recognized on a Linux, on a DMDE, SD Formatter, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, and primary on a TestDisk and on a GParted, and one big nothing was achieved.... You say that if I just soft reset the android phone, everything will be back to normal? Did you had the exactly same problem? You know, I need to clarify things before I do something that could destroy entirely my data.
I didn't have the exact problem just something similar and a soft reset (which will do no harm) worked for me. If the SD card can't be read any other ways then I don't know anything else other than formating the SD card.

Exfat or fat32 both work fine
Yea I figured, it's just when I formated it on the computer it didn't work, then I formated it back to far32 and reformatted it using the phone, and now it's working fine. But what's weird is that it shows 125gb cause I've seen online that you can access 119gb,

It varies
On a sd card lets say 128gb for example
The amount you can use will always be around 110gb to about 126gb
As for the micro sd filesystem type i think that it has to be exfat if its above 64gb
Same here got 32GB ends up being 29.something. Its with all SD cards
Sent from my Xperia Z2
The difference between the stated capacity and usable capacity is because of the different way memory card and hard drive manufacturers calculate capacity vs OS vendors.
When Sandisk says 128 GB, what they mean is 128,000,000,000, or 128*10^9
Windows, Android and all other OS's calculate it differently, they talk in binary, so instead of 10^9, it's (2^10)*(2^10)*(2^10)
so, 128,000,000,000 / (1024*1024*1024) = 119.2GB, which is what android should be displaying.
Yea that's the weirdest part.on mine it shows 125gb.

I know right? that's what I thought to myself for the first time but there's no any issues in copying files or viewing them.
But like @Envious_Data mentioned it can be vary. Still I checked that they used the same type of sd card on z1 and it shows 119GB.
It's damn confusing.
Here's the link where xperiablog details about 128gb card on ZU, Z1, Z2 yet my Z2 and Z2 tablet shows 125GB :silly:
Hey guys, I think my sd cards are fake. cause I just checked it with esfiles explorer and it just shows only 9gb.
and the stuff I copied there are gone and only new stuff are there. I knew there was some weird thing was going on..
