Can I not flash the 14s Rom without Root or Twrp?
Maybe so
Method 1: From File manager:
Step 1: Download the multilingual EUI ROM.
Step 2: Rename the zip file as update.zip, and copy it to the root directory of Internal storage.
Step 3: Open the “File Manager” and click the firmware “update.zip” to upgrade firmware. Click “Update”
Method 2: From Recovery:
Step 1: Copy firmware “update.zip” to the root directory of the SD card.
Step 2: Shutdown your device, Press the Volume+ key and the Power button at the same time, wait until the screen wakes ,it will*enter into the upgrade mode.
Step 3: Finally, a picture, select the downloaded zip file. Wait for the upgrade is complete, reboot into the system

I guess not. Its not an Update. Its a Full Rom. I think you have to clean your device at first with a full wipe in twrp. You cant just install a stable Rom on another one
Dirty flashed last Full Rom over previous. Only wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache in TWRP. All went fine. TWRP and Superuser is still there.
In Settings Build Date 31.05.2016
Edit: You have to flash SuperSu again and Xposed too
just downloaded the rom update manually from their site.
LE_X2_X820-CN-FN-FEXCNFN5601405314S-5.6.014S
Then I went to twrp and it automatically updated. Didnt need to press a Thing. After that, phone booted and it said im on the latest version via push notification. Checked and its true. Supersu still working, gplay too
Edit:
SuperUser wasn't working, so I tried flashing it again. Booted to Recovery and was in Original Recovery. Flashed TWRP which was on there before, recovery was "bricked". It was half loading screen half random colors. Restarted, phone was frozen. Held power and volume + till it vibrated. Now it was really turned off! I then went to fastboot and flashed the TWRP from this package:
X820-TWRP3.0.0-0526
(the SuperSU-File in there is not a newer one)
All went fine. Flashed the SuperSU-File I got on the phone anyway and now the phone is fully functional with root again

Dear All,
WARNING: I'm no developer, just a regular user. SO PLEASE ONLY TRY THE BELOW PROCEDURE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'm not responsible if you end up with a device that doesn't work the way it is originally meant to.
Recently I decided to root my Mi 5 running Global Dev ROM (Version: 6.5.30 (MIUI7)).
Read a few threads.
Mainly (link A): http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=260976
Then I posted a Q&A thread: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod ... 0&page=1#pid5799160
I noticed that according to link A, we needed to wipe data to root successfully.
Here's what I did:
1. Unlock BootLoader via Xiaomi Official Method. - Important Step
2. Temporarily flash TWRP (link mentioned in link A) [fastboot boot *recoveryname*.img].
3. Selecetd English as the language.
4. Left the System partition unmodified when promted (Keep Read Only).
5. Mounted System + Cache.
6. Enabled ADB sideload.
7. SIdeloaded the superSU file (link mentioned in link A).
8. Rebooted device.
9. SuperSU was installed.
10. To check this I tried out SElinuxmodechanger + V4A (use apps with Root access at your own risk and evaluation of safe / unsafe nature of the app/apps).

Conclusion: I was able to root my Mi 5 (Global Dev Rom) without permanent flashing of TWRP + without modification to system partition (Keep Read Only)) + without wiping data in TWRP before installing SuperSU.
Hey, great tutorial, but after, the OTA update will work and / or remove root ?
Is the sideload necessary ? Can't the SuperSU file be stored in an internal folder beforehand ?
@hmnk: can you please post links for SElinuxmodechanger and V4A? Thanks.

Sideload was necessary at the time of the tutorial being posted as the MIUI version / TWRP didn't allow data partition to be mounted without formatting it. Hence, the flashable zips had to be sideloaded.
However, currently, I'm on MIUI Version: V8.0.2.0.MAAMIDG (MIUI8) and twrp-3.0.2-0-gemini, this combination allows data partition to be mounted without formatting it.

Personally tested myself on Mi5 Pro and it works with MIUI Version: V8.0.2.0.MAAMIDG (MIUI8) and twrp-3.0.2-0-gemini.
Huge huge thanks!
Thanks very much for this worked a treat. I'm on 6.10.13 Global, used ZCX-TWRP and SuperSU v2.76. No problems at all.
Many thanks for your guide. I'll try it on the next update
This has been working well for me, thank you. Now I'm wondering if the same method could be used to install things like Xposed without flashing TWRP too. Has anyone tried it? I'm scared. ::laugh:
thanks
Bootloop
Tried this over MIUI Global BETA 7.4.27 (Mi5) and got a bootloop
I've downloaded the required files and TWRP 3.0.2.0 and SuperSU 2.76
Thanks, it worked!
I just tested this on the MI5s Plus and it works on that phone as well.
hello
I'm so confused.
Please help me how I'm going back to the stock (3.1.3) rom from Cm13 best way and safe.
Thank you
Download Oxygen OS 3.1.3 full ROM
Download MM based unofficial TWRP
Downloaded Modded SuperSU if you want root
You will require a PC with WinRAR & Notepad++, because as we are running custom ROMs the zipwill give an error 7 saying that The package is for OnePlus, this is an onyx, we need to remove that.
Don't worry, its super easy.
- Download the OOS3 zip, copy it to your PCs desktop
- Open it with winRAR, dont extract it, just open it
- There will be a META-INF folder, open it
- Then open com, then google, then android, there will be 2 files here, updater-binary & updater script
- Double click on updater-script
- It will ask which app to use to open the file, then select to open with Notepad++ (designate it from its installed directory if it isn't visible in the initial list)
- The file will look like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Delete the entire first line that starts with getprop
- Now it should look like this
- Now press Ctrl+S to save the file and close the window
- WinRAR will ask weather to update changes in the archive, say yes to that
- Let it finish its job
- Done !
Moving on the the flashing now...
Assuming you are using official TWRP with your CM13 now,
- Copy the modded OOS3 zip into your Device
- Boot into TWRP recovery
- Wipe system, data, cache & dalvik/art cache
- Flash the modified OOS3 zip
- Let it complete
- After it completes, press the wipe cache/dalvik button below
- Now reboot to system
- Complete the initial setup
- Goto settings, unlock developer options by tapping 7 times on build number in about phone
- Enable advanced reboot
- Then reboot to bootloader
- Flash the MM based unofficial TWRP via fastboot
- Remember to boot into this newly flash TWRP before booting into system so that it doesn't overwite it
- Done
Now you are on OOS 3.1.3, and have a working TWRP, you can proceed to flash SuperSU etc to gain root
thank you !

Actually, you want to update to 3.1.3, right ? Then you don't need to go back to OOS2 then again OOS3, the method i gave above will work as intended, its tried as tested by many users along with myself.
As for not requiring Root, just dont flash the SuperSU zip.
Keep the TWRP, its handy.
Also, press the thanks button on bottom left corner of my post, no necessary to say it in the reply.
I need to go back to stock rom for Exercise responsibility
thank you again
Hello,
I followed these instructions and It worked perfectly. (Note that I was coming from CM13)
Thanks a lot !
Thanks for the great description!
A question, just in case, I would go back again go to CM13 , can i then just import my old backup via the modified TWRP, or I have to note something again?
Thanks in advance!

1- Have OEM unlocking and USB debugging enabled in developer options.
2- Download and install the Axon7Toolkit.
3-Download the recovery stok and put it in the twrp folder of Axon7Toolkit.
3- Put the update.zip of the b9 on the memory card.
Run the Axon7Toolkit and choose option 11. We follow the steps that shows us on the screen so that we have to select the recovery.
We choose the recovery stock that we downloaded before and we give to accept, when it finishes and we will have the recovery stok again in our terminal.
We close the Axon7Toolkit and go to our terminal. Now we go into the recovery stock and go to "apply update from SD card" and choose the update.zip that we downloaded previously and installed it.
When you start the phone, you can configure it to reach the main screen.
Open the Axon7Toolkit again, select option 7 and follow the steps.
When you restart the phone you will have the bootloader closed again.

can we use another rom instead of PixelExperience?
2 things:
1 - I seriously messed up my phone with that twrp. Although I was using a more recent version, I don't recommend it. Use redispade twrp instead
2 - You can and you should use another ROM. PE is dead. Just check vendor required and,if different from the one suggested by OP, flash it instead.

Fixed problem of not working touch!
Thanks to the efforts of mauronofrio , yuri-2016 and and my humble contribution, the TWRP 3.3.1 was made from scratch and a new method of Root was tested.
This is a universal method that will fit all modifications of Motorola One Zoom.

The phone should have USB debugging enabled and bootloader unlocked!
All your user data will be deleted during TWRP installation process!
Instructions
1. Download the following files:
- Download current version of twrp-3.3.1-6-parker-mauronofrio.img (copy to C:\adb\ folder) and archive twrp-3.3.1-6-parker-installer-mauronofrio.zip (copy to external SD Card) ;

2. Boot the phone in fastboot mode, connect it to a PC and perform the following commands:
Code:
fastboot boot C:\adb\twrp-3.3.1-6-parker-mauronofrio.img

To clarify, this is a brand new phone with stock firmware. The only changes I made were updating security patches and unlocking the bootloader. Haven't even set up Google account on phone yet.
Thanks

Did you get your phone to work with this method? I have a brand new phone want to root it but don't want to F it up.
If you have problems with WiFi and mobile network after downloading to TWRP, install boot.img of stock firmware and then install TWRP-installer.
But there shouldn't actually be any such problems.
TWRP should fit all models.
TWRP isn't installed, it's loaded.

Thanks. I'm going to give it a shot.
Sort of a noob. I've rooted 2 phones before but used a pre-made script on one and used TWRP on my Moto G4 with a custom ROM.
Where do I get stock boot.img if I need i?. I saw multiple posts on different forums about "extract the boot.img" but I don't know where to extract it from. Sorry to bother you. Thanks for your work on this.

From the archive of the stock firmware. The same firmware version that is currently installed on your phone.
Worked!
Followed all the instructions as written and BAM! I have TWRP recovery and rooted phone.
You da man. Thanks!!!
Finally the TWRP website has an official Recovery Page for Motorola One Zoom! https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolaonezoom.html
Hopefully soon we will see TWRP itself.
There is an official TWRP !!!
