Bricked Sony Xperia Z3v (D6708) - Xperia Z3v General

Hello,
I have recently made a horrible mistake, I flashed the incorrect ROM on my Xperia Z3v leaving the phone bricked. I am asking for your help. I have tried using the Flashtool but I am not certain if it's the phone or I that is causing a mistake. The steps thus far that I have followed.
Downloaded: Flashtool & Drivers
Installed: Drivers for Xperia Z3v
Downloaded: Firmware from XperiFirm
Now, the issue next is nothing shows up in my firmware when I attempt to flash. I have checked the source folder the .ftf files are there.
Furthermore:
When I hold VOL UP and plug in the USB>Blue led is indicated
When I hold VOL DOWN and plug in USB>Red flashes with a second of green whilst vibrating
Found this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtaUxuorVSA
Exactly like this, checked for a solution seems like he repaired it via sony. Unfortunately for me I don't have that luxury.
**Update**
I installed the lastest release of flashtool (0.9.22.2) but it occurred to me to revert back to the previous release (0.9.18.6)
Now I can finally see the firmware but I am still having issues actually flashing the file. I get errors such as:
ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid
ERROR - Cannot delete C:\Users\Juan\.flashTool\firmwares\prepared\userdata.sin
**More Information**
I should include I am on a locked bootloader

same
that seem the same with my situation

Okay the green light is flash mode / upgrade mode. The blue light is fast boot. You want it on with the green light on to flash it once it's bricked. You can't flash it using fast boot mode because the boot loader isn't unlocked.
Now what you have to do is get it with the green light on and then the drivers installed.
Can't delete the file means that it had error while trying to flash and all that you have to do is restart the app and that goes away.
Now for the next problem is that I had this one and what I did to fix it is that I had to reinstall the drivers because those weren't correct and I did reinstalled it and it all worked good. Thanks.

Download the correct firmware for your phone (model and Country).
Use flashtool to install it on your phone
Works with a locked bootloader, no need for USB debugging.
The first error might be you ended up downloading the incorrect or incomplete firmware

I had the exact problem that you are having. I ended re downloading the flashtool a few times from various computers and then i got it to work. I figured when i downloaded it the first time i had a version that was to old/new. Or a bad connectiin when i downloaded it first time. After i downloaded flashtool again itthwn worked without issue just as it should. Whatever the provlem was for me was having to do with the download or version i downloaded wouldnt work completely. I think my internet connection when i downloaded it wasnt very good and maybe didnt download it right.

I made the same mistake too, trying to flash a z3 zip file. Then I got to run around my home city to find help. Then there's a guy. He had to open the back cover and connect directly to the circuit board in order to do something about the eMMC and SEtool or... something, I'm not sure. The phone is alive again! (costed quite a lot for a student, but... yay?). Funny though, he said the circuit board is similar to a z2 and not a z3. Maybe you could find someone who knows about these kinds of thing. Hope that help.

That's strange were you on a locked bootloader?
Currently attempting to fix it once more, will update if I find anything out.

Yeah, I think? I mean, it's right out of the box. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that the guy had to use SEtool twice to get mobile signal.

Did you fix the problem? I have the same problem now.
With a Z3v. D6708. I have a problem, got a wrong ROM, the flashee and now not start the phone in any way. The only way to start is "System Recovery" volume + power, which has 4 options: 1. "Continue Power UP", 2. "Safe mode", 3. "Factory Reset" and 4. "Power Down". The thing is try from flashtool but when I give "volume down" and connect the computer does not recognize. When light it even reaches the boot animation. When I give power with USB cable is connected in a loop is vibrating and shows red, blue and green.
I have exactly the same problem of the youtube video.
As it could fix the problem?
Some help ?
Thank you !
Pd. The device only have FastBoot.

did u solve this?

Bricked for days!
Is anyone still following this thread. I have the same problem after trying to install MIUI 6 on my rooted unlocked TWRP'd Xperia z3V. After the MIUI installation I have nothing but the symptoms below.
Not able to get into flashmode
No screen or bootup
No recovery
Symptoms:
1 -When plugged into PC or wall it only blinks RED/GREEN light and vibrates.
2 -Holding POWER the light turns and stays GREEN until released (then returns to #1)
3 -Holding POWER + VOLUME UP BLUE light stays on and puts phone in Fastboot mode
4 -Holding POWER + VOLUME DOWN does nothing (continues to do #1)
Please Help!!!

Google Sony Developers. Try to unlock your bootloader.
Sent from my D6708 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I think the phone will reject the command. Tried on a bricked z3v and that's the response I get from fastboot with the Sony commands given through the developer aite.

The phone is not and most likely never will be bootloader unlocked. Planning to buy for another phone is your only option.

I've already moved to a tmo note 4. Not much development there either, but it's nice. Miss the z seires though and may come back to it next year. We'll see how they fair with phones for the next few months state side abs if prices even out on the x or z5.

Unless you're going to post a link or YouTube video we all have access to, wouldn't bother asking people for direct email addresses to send them. That's the reason for PM'S and the forum on general. If you have a fix, we'd all like to know what it is you were able to do that none of us have figured out.

Problems in unlocking bootloader for Sony Xperia P. Urgent help needed

Hey Guys!
So I have an Xperia P, and ever since I upgraded to JB, I have been having several problems. The system lags a LOT. I cannot see any pictures in my Album, though the pictures are there, when I try calling someone it lags so much that the process ends. And it lags a lot when I try picking up such that I can't hear what they're saying for upto 5 seconds. Either that, or it just ends
So I've been attempting to flash a custom OS, but I've been facing some problems. I have rooted my Xperia. When I went on the xda forum to get the flashboot drivers, the link is dead. I installed them from another source.
When I turn off my phone and I hold the power up button, the blue LED light comes on and I go to device manager to install the custom drivers from the SDK bundle. By that time, my phone's blue LED light wouldve gone and the drivers aren't installed. At least I don't think it has. Soo I really need your help on installing the fastboot drivers and unlocking bootloader so I can flash a custom OS. Please help.
Thanks in advance

Which Windows version are you using? If you are using Windows 7 then try this:-
Download this ZIP File.
Extract the contents on Desktop
Now Open Device Manager by RIGHT CLICKING ON MY COMPUTER>MANAGE>DEVICE MANAGER
Now connect your phone in fastboot mode to the PC by holding the Vol + button while plugging in the cable.
You will see a new device in the device manager with an error sign on it. Instantly double click on that because it will disappear as the blue LED disappears.
A dialog box will open. Disconnect the phone and dont connect it.
Go to drivers tab
Click on update driver.
Now select BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE
Now select LET ME PICK FROM A LIST OF DEVICE DRIVERS ON MY COMPUTER
Now select HAVE DISK
Now click on browse.
Open the extracted folder and select the android_winusb.inf
Click OK
Select the ADB driver from the updated list.
Now connect the phone again in fastboot mode again.
And then click on NEXT. You have to do this very quickly because as soon as the BLUE LED disappears the driver will not load but it will show that it is loaded.
Try This, If fails, tell me, will tell you other method.
pass oturse
Never Mind, I got it to work
But thanks anyways!!
I have another problem now. Since I unlocked bootloader, when I turn my phone off, it automatically turns back on, but after the sony kogo appears, nothing more happens, the screen is still in use, a faint light comes off of it, but it's blank and black. I had to wait for it to run out of charge so i could turn it back on. Any help?
What version of JB you got?
Even that'sresolved now... Guess that the custom OS was just starting up
I have one more though... Hopefully the last one! I tried flashing a stock ROM - ICS for Xperia P (LT22i) with flashboot. It prepared the filesand the pop-up came asking me to turn it off, press and hold the flashboot button and connect it to the USB. The blue LED light came but it never flashed. In the log it also came that a flashboot device has been connected. Help please!
Thanks in advance,

Bricked Xperia Z tablet

Hey guys,
I've got the xperia z tablet (16gb wifi only)
and I had unlocked it, the other day I saw it finally got an OTA update, so I let it update.
apparently that was a bad idea?, I was stuck with the broken android symbol every time i attempted to start the tablet..
I tried the sony software, the recovery thing it has. That has only made things worse, now the tablet refuses to start whatsoever.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate it very much.

Yould could try and have a look at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
Hi
I had the same issues when I flashed the wrong ROM. Nothing worked no power light or anything.
Now I can't remember exactly what I did but I started to press buttons and I'm sure that holing the power button and the vol up for a while made it start again and it displayed an error and then went into flash mode .
As I said I'm not sure which buttons I pressed but I know that I held them in for a while
Try using Flashtool... Im pretty sure you can rcover it by flashing a FTF file.

So there is hope. :highfive:
I think I found the testpin. My sgp311 has started to blink after being dead since November, when I bricked it.
I don't have the device pack though.. Do you have any clue on how to find it? I think I just need the sgp311 SEMC package to resuscitate it now... Hopefully...

get the stock ftf file and flash it using flashtools, I was in a bootloop and it worked
i know its an old post but i have to try
i m in a boot loop and i want to find the Fed file in order to do a fastboot....
Can someone give them??
I test my tablet SGP321 with many ROMs.. I end up going to boot loop... Crashes and stuff but I always recover from it.
The things I do before doing anything insane with my tablet
1. Take backup off apps/data
2. Always enable debugging and Unknown Sources
3. Keep the backup of the ROMs
4. Always have the xperia flashtool on my computer
Here's what you can do..
Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button for ten seconds until you see a white light flashing three times. While doing this somewhere around in 5 seconds you'll see white led flashing once, but keep on pressing those buttons till it flashes next three times.
After that your tablet will be turned Off.
You can put your device in flash mode and flash a new ROM from Xperia flash tool.
If you get the error "Unknown sources and USB debugging must me enable for flash mode, then your option can be to flash the ROM from fastboot.
Download a ROM (CyanogenMod or any with custom recovery).
Flash the boot.img via fastboot and reboot your device.
Once done you should see a led lit up while the device is booting (pink/magenta color in case of CyanogenMod).
Press the volume up/down button and you should be able to go to recovery mode.
From here you can recover your device easily
And before you do anything make sure you've charged your device well.
Good luck

[q] urgent help with sony xperia z ultra

Hi everyone, so i recently acquired a Sony Xperia Z Ultra C6833 from my cousin before he left for europe.
Naturally, i wanted to restore it to its factory settings so I could start clean with the phone.
The problem is. I can't seem to do it
My cousin has a lock screen pattern on the unit and I don't know what it is, I asked him and he said he already forgot what it is, nor did he set up any recovery questions or an e-mail to unlock the phone. (I already tried this avenue and I am all but certain that this isn't the way to go, please bear with me and don't offer suggestions based on trying to unlock based on the pattern)
I searched online on how to reset the phone to factory setting without having access to the menu. (I had thought that all Android phones had this feature by pressing combinations of physical buttons). However none have worked.
1. I've tried pressing and long pressing the "red" hard reset button near where you insert the SIM and microSD card, I long-pressed it while the phone was open and all it does is shut down, and it does nothing when the phone is turned off.
2. I've shut the phone off, and tried opening it using different combinations of volume keys and power button.
a. I tried holding down both volume and power buttons for long periods of time. Nothing happens.
b. I tried holding down the volume up button as well as the power button. Again, nothing happens.
c. I tried holding down the volume down button as well as the power button. The phone starts in Safe Mode, whereupon I cant do anything there anyway since I can't unlock the lock screen pattern in the first place.
3. I downloaded PC companion in my PC and was going to try to use System Update / Repair on it. But THE PC WONT DETECT THE PHONE. I assumed it was because I didn't have the drivers for the phone, so I downloaded the drivers online within a zip file but all it has is a bunch of .inf and .cat files which I dont know how to execute. So I cant connect the phone the PC at all because i dont know how to install the drivers that will enable the PHONE to be detected by PC Companion.
I really need help and really want this phone to work and for me to use it. However, I just cant seem to restore it to its factory settings given that I cant unlock the freaking phone pattern. :crying::crying::crying:
Thanks in advance guys and any help will be highly appreciated!
- Download Flashtool (on your computer)
- Download a TFT (firmware) here at XDA
- Kick the phone into flashmode by holding VOL DOWN while you connect it to your computer
- Flash the TFT in Flashtool and 5 minutes later you're good to go.
This won't void your warranty btw.
I'm on mobile right now, so I can't bother sharing links, but I can do it when I'm on a computer (but you should easily handle that task yourself )
Any questions?

Hi! First of all, thanks for the response.
A couple of questions though...
I've downloaded the flashtool (this is Emma right?)
Could you give me a link to a valid TFT? I'm not sure which to download, I'm from the Philippines and I need the TFT that connects to the playstore and all that (perhaps just the stock ROM?)
Also i've read that I need to unlock the bootloader for this method to work? Problem is, I can't seem to find out how to do this or even if my phone is viable. I've tried inputting *#*#7378423#*#* in the emergency call menu but nothing happens
*EDIT* Okay I connected the phone to emma and found out that the bootloader is still locked. Need help on how to do this.
Again, big thanks in advance!

DON'T RUSH, slow down
You dont need to unlock the bootloader to flash FTFs, and they can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921
I've not used emma, we all use flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
No, you don't have to unlock the bootloader. You only need to do that if you're going to flash a custom (CM11, PAC, GPe) ROM.
- Download Flashtool and follow the installation guide (be sure to install the drivers)
- Download an FTF from here (this one will work just fine)
- Put the FTF where you installed Flashtool (C:/Flashtool/firmwares)
- Connect your Ultra to your computer
- Open Flashtool. It should say "Device connected" etc.
- Click the "Lightning bolt" icon
- Choose the firmware from the list to the left
- Hit "Flash"
- Follow the steps on screen
Tip:
- Flashmode = Turn your Ultra OFF. Hold VOLUME DOWN when you connect it to the computer. You will se a short burst from the LED, but it won't stay on.
- Fastboot = Turn your Ultra OFF. Hold VOLUME UP when you connect it to the computer. You will see a blue LED.
thanks!

Flashed wrong MM ROM, now phone is dead - need help!

Hello,
I was so enthousiastic about the MM update that I didnt realize I was flashing the Z4 Table MM ftf to the Z5 compact. ****!! Now my phone seems to be dead. No vibrating, no lights no matter what I do.
I try to flash the correct ROM with Flashtool, but it doesn't recognize the device.
In device manager, the phone is not recognized "Unknown USB device, attempt for device descript failed" (if I translate correctly).
Is there something I can do?
Open flashtool. Select the firmware you want. And press on flash. Once flashtool prompts you, ONLY THEN you connect your phone while holding the power down button

Unfortunately it didn't work. I read in some other thread that battery has to die for the memory to reset, then recharge and flash. So I am waiting for this to happen... hope it's working.

If you're stuck on the Sony logo screen hold volume up and power to hard boot, there is no need to let the battery drain.
Download a fresh mm .ftf, load up flash tool and prepare files(exclude nothing), wait for flash mode prompt then plug in device while holding volume down(do not let go until it stays solid). It takes a long time to flash, you'll probably think it's stuck at times.

I got back from work and no miracle happened. Phone is still dead. The screen is black. When i put it to charger or pc, no led is blinking. When I do hard reset (with little buttin next to sim tray) nothing happens. When I attempt to reset with power button + volume up nothing happens, no vibration.
I tried repair with Sony Companion, it does not recognize the phone. Windows first recognized the device as some generic, then on second and following attempts reports a malfunctionion USB device.
Have I destroyed my phone??? I never unlocked the bootloader or even unrooted. How could I destroy vital parts of the system? Isn't there some low level something there that still should enable me to flash another rom? How can I get to this part?
I feel a bit devastated now. I actually never realized flashing had this danger (if bootloader locked ...)

try reinstalling your drivers also when you connect your phone to the charger do u get a charging light ?
did you try a different USB cable, i saw it hapen that crappy USB cables gives a bad flash, or doesn't recognize the device
If you really don't find any other solution, bring it to the Sony repair center/the shop you bought from and tell that it was updating to Marshmallow but after the restart, the phone was dead.
I highly doubt your phone will work again in the current state you've left it in.
I've flashed a boot.img from another device to see what happens, the phone just vibrates and turns back off. Can easily recover by flashing the correct boot.img, so it looks like yours is damaged at a lower level.
I assume the bootloader tried to update itself with files from the wrong device instead of checking.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for the support. I didn't have a chance to report back earlier due to work. I want to describe everything as good as possible, so maybe other people having the same problem later on can refer to this thread.
When I put in the charger, no LED is turning on.
I tried a different computer (win7), installed flashtool and then ALL drivers included with flashtool drivers. No help.
I left the charger on for many hours, the previous night I also tried what is referred to as the "rubber trick". Nothing.
I looked at several threads, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/hard-bricked-power-to-flash-mode-t3004020, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/help/help-bricked-z2-t3052671, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/dead-m2-recognized-somc-flash-device-t3304758. As far as I can see none of the people who encountered similar symptons have reported back solving it other then sending it to Sony repair.
I contacted Sony support, they asked me to charge it, attempt Sony Companion repair. Of course it doesn't help. So I contact them again tomorrow (indeed telling after MM upgrade it didn't start) and then send it to them.
I just don't understand how this could have been happened, seeing what celderic reports. Is it even related to me flashing the wrong ftf, or could it also happen even likely while flashing the good ftf?
Is flashing ftf's even save? If not, maybe we should warn people more about it. (I always assumed as long as you don't root / unlock bootloader nothing can really go wrong, cause the important parts I am never allowed to touch).
Ironic, I was so impatient for FINALLY getting a working, performing phone, boy, did I prolong my wait. It is really ridiculous Sony could sell us this piece of crap that is slower than my old Blackberry Z10 and make us bear it for so long, and then suddenly they are able to turn it into a superblazer. Should have been like this right from the beginning.
How long did you press the reset button? I had a similar situation with my Z1C a few days ago. Misclicked without realizing it and flashed a wrong rom. Out of frustration and because I was talking to somebody I pressed a paperclip against the reset button for about a minute. At that point the phone did vibrate, went blank again and I could put it in flash mode.
Hm .. I pressed it long, but probably not a minute long. Can't try again though, phone is on its way to repair center.
By the way, someone asked, I used original Sony cable.
Got my phone back working today. Very good support from Sony!! Only took 5 working days. (I'm in the Netherlands)

Have I actually managed to brick my Z5C?

Hi there,
So in my faults of rushing things today I think I have bricked my phone. I had Lineage and wanted to move back to the latest stock image. Since installing Lineage, I haven't been able to get into the "flash mode" that FlashTool requires to flash the FTF. So I thought I'd hotboot TRWP, did a Wipe of Everything and the plan was to then try flash at least another image from my SD card and try flash the FTF again. In my haste the phone rebooted instead with no system or anything
I can't do the following to aid in recovery:
- with phone off, if I hold down "volume down" and plug in usb cable, the green light comes in for like half a second and then that's it - just get's stuck on the Sony white background screen. No flashmode
- with phone off, if I hold down "volume up" and plug in usb cable, the blue light comes in for like 2 seconds max and then a red light flash and then a green light flash - that's it - then just get's stuck on the Sony white background screen.
I have tried Xperia Companion and repeatedly check adb devices also whilst trying the above and the phone is never recognised once
Any suggestions as to what else I can try? Otherwise this is perhaps now a paperweight
Ok. No idea how this worked but in desperation I just tapped power and volume up I believe at the same time and TWRP loaded even though it wasn't installed!? WTF!? There was an img file on my sd card of TWRP so unless it somehow got to load that, I have no idea how it came back up but I am one chuffed panda I have use of the phone again!
Lesson number two for me and anyone else... don't try get into fastboot mode using a charging port on a laptop. That is why I couldn't get in earlier. Sorry to have wasted any time reading all this crap guys. Sorry! Admin feel free to delete this whole nonsensical thread.
Been there, done that. Multiple times ???
