Outer screen replacement. - Droid Turbo 2 Accessories

Anyone have a source for the built in screen protector? Preferably the force one without the Verizon logo.

I'm also looking for this..
In the US you can order it from here: https://www.motorola.com/us/protection/droid-turbo-2/moto-shattershield-lens-replacement.html
Germany: http://www.motorola.de/accessoires/...n/moto-shattershield-lens-replacement-eu.html
But for the rest of the EU... No idea

Anyone knows where to buy the ShatterShield now?

I found this for the US market - https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-shattershield-replacement-lens-droid-turbo-2

That's the only one I found also but they don't send to outside the US. Already talked via chat and phone with Motorola UK, still waiting for a final answer.

they just told me they dont sell it anymore...
never getting a moto phone again.

Don't blame you.
Motorola for 2013, and most of 2014 was just copying the previous year's LG flagship phones.
2013 Moto X was a fantastic copy of the excellent 2012 LG Optimus G (aka G1): 4.7", 720p -- while everyone else was going to 1080p and at least 5". Within 2 weeks of the 2013 Moto X (4.7", 720p), LG then released the 2013 LG G2: 5.2", 1080p -- which the 2013 LG Nexus 5 was based on. Google owned Motorola at the time, but still chose LG for their Nexus phone because of stupid stuff like that. Motorola basically released a 2012 phone in 2013.
2014 Moto X, same thing. It was a bad copy of the the 2013 LG G2. 5.2" 1080p -- while that same year, at the same time LG moved on to the LG G3 (5.5" 1440p, laser focus camera, very slim bezels).
Up until then Motorola was basically a 2nd tier copycat manufacturer. They were trying to innovate with some software tweaks, like Moto Display -- but their hardware was not top tier specs like Samsung, Sony, or LG at the time.
Only with the end of 2014 Moto Nexus 6 (Shamu) and Moto Quarks (Droid Turbo XT1254/Moto Maxx XT1250 and XT1225 and delayed released in 2015 Moto Turbo XT1225) did Motorola step up and deliver premium hardware specs. Latest Snapdragon chipset, 1440p AMOLED, 3GB RAM, etc.
The Moto Nexus 6 and Moto Quarks were the best phones that year, with the possible exception of Samsung's 2014 Galaxy Note. Both the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note were too big for my taste, but the Quark was perfect, or almost perfect...
5.2" 1440p AMOLED,
Snapdragon 805,
3GB RAM,
64GB internal memory,
21MP camera,
Qi wireless charging,
Turbo Charging (QuickCharge 2.0)
I bought 3 of them -- two for my and my wife for daily phones and a year later I bought one as a still-new-in box backup, just in case.
However, with the 5.2" Quarks, Motorola left out the front facing stereo speakers and rear camera OIS the Moto Nexus had. For the price ($700 for the 64GB XT1225), they should not have left out anything. Technically both these phones were RELEASED after the Lenovo sale, but they were both designed and manufacturing started when Google owned Motorola.
So, in 2015 (when Lenovo now owned them the entire year), for the Quark succcessor Kinzie (Droid Turbo 2/Moto X Force) now would be a good time to rectify those two mistakes, right? Front facing stereo speakers and rear camera OIS? While keeping the 1440p AMOLED display?
Instead, for Kinzie Lenovo added the plastic layer gimmick on top of the display (which made it dimmer). They did add a microSD slot, but that was the only real improvement when they had a chance to do something GREAT. Oh, and they made the Kinzie battery SMALLER than the Quark, because 3900 mAh was just too much battery, right? Instead they should have gone to 4,000 mAh or more, since they went to 5.4" AMOLED panel from 5.2". But, no a SMALLER BATTERY. And for good measure they slipped on quality control and had that green line problem but wouldn't admit to it.
I mean look how ZTE did it with their 2016 AXON 7:

5.5", 1440p AMOLED (same Samsung panel used in the Pixel XL) with award winning DAC and front facing stereo speakers ($400 for 64GB/4GB RAM or $500 for 128GB/6GB RAM, both with microSD card expansion). The frame is designed by BMW. BMW! No, it doesn't have Qi wireless charging, so I'm not buying it -- but I'm very impressed by the hardware specs and price otherwise. Stuff like THIS is what Motorola/Lenovo should be doing.
I know the Moto Kinzie was a 2015 phone, but the point I am making is Motorola had a chance to really improve an already-excellent 2014 phone -- the Quark. All it needed was the front facing stereo speakers and rear camera OIS they had given the 2014 Moto Nexus.
Since then with the Moto Z they have regressed. Now they are making you pay for mods, to add features (Qi wireless, stereo speakers, large battery) that should be included in the phone in the first place!
I own three Moto XT1225 (Quark). It's the best phone I have ever owned, with the LG Nexus 5 being a close second. But I am never buying another Motorola phone if they continue in this direction.

So does anyone know if any 3rd parties make a replacement for the shattershield lens? Or should we just remove the easily scratched shattershield lens and put on a regular screen protector? I know that voids any 'warranty' but we'd be using a case with it anyways.

Sorry have not found a source yet. It was a phone for a family member so I had them put on a old school screen protector which works fine but the shatter shield definitely scratches easily. Too bad we can't find the replacement for it.

[Q] HTC Evo 3D II "Magnificent" Wish list

I was looking at some upcoming models from HTC like the Vigor with a 720p display(!) and a few others when I thought, what would you like to see in the next 'evolution' of the Shooter?

Qualcomm S3 or S4 SoC
4gb RAM
16gb of actual onboard storage
NFC
2000+ mAh battery
4.5" 720p IPS display (Hitachi with the lenticular barrier?)

So after doing a little research, I think I've found what is a leaked screenshot of the HTC EVO 3D II phone...
Shhh, don't tell anyone!
And if you're looking for more juice, Stinger has made an extended battery for this phone. It's 72,000 mAh, so now you can go weeks without charging your phone! No extended battery door needed!
But to keep this battery alive, you'll need the Black & Decker VEC1093DBD Battery Charger.
Seriously, who remembers the days of the bag phones? They didn't even come with Snake!
My first cell was like this but black in color. I was 17 years old, had 2 beepers and this! Yes I needed all that, at the time lets just say my activities were not that of the law
My how things have changed!!!
I miss the days we all used walkie talkies and cb radios.
lol, for what?!

Hell yeah the 90's was so great for cell phones, there was no SIM, no GSM here in America ... before CDMA (B Carrier) and TDMA (A Carrier) it was Analog and people could here everything that was going on with a good 800Mhz scanner ... cloning was so easy ... No A key or nothing ... $300 for 360 minutes from AT&T .. wow have things come far in the past 15 years...

Hmm, while we're at it...
Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.5 GHz Krait quad core processor
16 GB RAM
1 TB internal storage
NFC

Nokia's Infinite Cellphone Battery (whenever that rolls out)
5.5" 1080p NOVA display (from LG Optimus Black)
No Bezel
Two 80 MP cameras on the back (see Leaf Aptus-II 12)
15 MP front camera with retina scan to unlock phone
2160p 3D video
Android Ice Cream Sandwich
Waterproof
Built in projector
RJ-45 jack for wired networking
Ubuntu Linux built in to turn the phone into a computer (like the Atrix 4G)
And what else?
Built in toaster so you can say "It does everything AND make toast!"
But seriously, it's like our phones are turning into computers. What happened to it just being a phone? I don't want more features necessarily. I want better coverage and better signals first. I'd like to see Sprint roll out with more towers with faster data rates. And what gets me is that I heard from a Sprint rep that they're switching to LTE and ditching WiMax. I'm kinda bummed, but he did say that the EVO 3D will be able to pick up LTE (I'm guessing over a OTA update, but then again I'm not sure if the phone will be able to pick up LTE).

LG G4 Release Date Confirmed

the g4 will be released on the 28th of this month, freaken excited to see what the specs are :laugh:
It will be announced 28th hopefully released shortly thereafter
lol i just bought 2 new lg g3s for the wife an I.
switching over from sgs3
oh well. i'm okay with being a rev behind.
i might do the same.lol. waiting.on the price
Earlier, when G4 rumors were just beginning, the G4 was going to have the Snapdragon 810. There were problems with doing that, since quantity availability of the 810 was not expected before Fall, 2015. Also, later, rumors of the 810 having serious heat dissipation problems came out. So, now instead of the 810 in the Fall, the G4 will ship with the 808 (?) or something, this summer ?
IMO, LG should be officially announcing the G4 before the S6 and M9 were/are available for purchase. Many people wait all winter for new phones to come out in the spring, and since they haven't heard anything from LG they may decide to bite the bullet and go with either the S6 or M9. I know I am.
Yea the decision to wait beyond the release of the other flagships really hurts LG sales IMO

Not really. A lot of people like me will be jumping ship from Samsung if the note follows the s series. No removable back or battery and no SD. I'll be seeing what the note does. Either note 5 or G4 for me
The snapdragon810 heating problems turns out was only rumours. The 810 does pretty good and with benchmark test shows little to no heating at all.

After seeing the Facebook video about the g4, it isn't much different than our g3's. I see no reason to upgrade. I was gonna call big red and try their edge plan as I am in a contract and try and get the, g4 after 30 days. No point.... So it let's in more light for pics and has more vivid colors... No thanks, wife has the new s6 Edge and has some vivid colors thanks to the amoled screen. I put my g3 up to it and still prefer my screen as it looks more natural to me.
Also not a fan of the leather backing. I feel Samsung nailed it in the hardware this year while LG is lagging behind again. Was really wishing they'd step it up here, but it is what it is.
So more light in, vivid colors, leather backing.... Barely a better processor as it isn't the 810....
Just gonna keep rocking my g3.

I tend to agree that it's not an upgrade that I absolutely gotta have. That being said, if I won $500 on a scratch ticket or something, I'd probably buy it at full price. I'll be happy with my G3 for another year though. If you're still on G2, I'd say it's absolutely worth the upgrade!

I actually really like that they aren't increasing the screen size (I think 5.5" is perfect without being too large) and the fact there may be a stylus!

Its a decent phone, but it came out about the same time as the G3 so its not really a better phone. Larger battery and newer CPU, but everything else is a downgrade (capacitive buttons, smaller display, larger bezels, Mich worse camera, worse look IMO).

You are right, I am asking because I am still on the 14day policy and I am thinking about returning it for the G3, I am not a big Samsung fan. Thank you for responding.
I wouldn't mind getting that leather back for my G3

Replacing the P9000?

Hello,
so I need to ask: is there any good replacement for the P9000 at the moment? No one should know better than people on this forum I think
I was never that disappointed about the phone, sure GPS can be useless sometimes and the camera is not that great but that's not always the case and the rest is working fine.
It seems to me that there is no similar phone with the same specs at least in the same or similar price range (up to 400 €).
The reason why I'm asking is the issue that the P9000 is not able to dial emergency numbers with an SD card in use. It just ends the calls.
So when you need it the most it is of no help by not being able to perform the most simple task for a mobile phone.
I still like the phone. It has the right size (don't want a smaller - can't have a bigger one) and weight with great features (LTE bands, USB-C fast charge / Qi, NFT etc.).
Looking for alternatives there were always missing features or not the most trustworthy brands - just like Elephone lol.
For my own safety I will need a new phone soon if there is no other solution. So what's on the market right now that I should look for?

Like you, I moved from the P9000 too, similar reasons, great little phone with too many niggles - give to my son in the end and he dont mind it, he likes fiddling with rooting, custom roms n alike
I bought my mates 6 month old OnePlus 3T, (which I realize is a bit of a price jump if you bought new) which again I will give my son when my upgrade is due in around 3 months. (altho this is a great buy for the price I think atm brand new, after all its only kinda 7 months since it was released)
The problem is (or probably a bonus) there are so many "mid range" phones out there and dependent whether you looking at Chinese brands or more mainstream. If Chinese, maybe look at the Xiaomi mid-range, they seem to get pretty good reviews generally. Thing with Chinese brands some are rubbish and some really great (like Meizu, Huawei etc) and pretty hard to choose which to go for.
Although my next upgrade will be more kinda mainstream (prob Samsung, Huawei or maybe new OP5) I usually note down what I'm after on the smart phone and then check whats available at the price point I'm working on, then I usually check as many unbiased reviews I can and also scan the XDA user forums to see what actual user feedback is like.
Thanks,
I would have nothing against going mainstream with a phone.
The Oneplus 3T seems to be nice but is limited to 64GB and is a little bit too pricy, also no wireless charging.
A little research got me to the Aquarius X Pro. Also no wireless charging (I could live with) and has a smaller screen but overall it is bigger in size and heavier than the
Elephone!
Seems like the P9000 is a rare species with no evolution. Great size for a 5.5"
The Aquarius X Pro looks a nice looking phone, nice price too. btw, I know Geekbuying have a kinda flash 75 hour sale (got email this morning with few mobiles listed) maybe check em out
I was also starting to look around, still unsure. I like the look of the Huawei Mate 9 but the overall size puts me off a little ( I done have large hands) so it will look stupidly large when I good it.
just an edit
BTW I dropped my P9000 and it is now useless what a coincidence.
I log into Amazon and see, that I bought this phone exactly on the 26th of June. And that is the day I broke the screen in half

I wouldn't hesitate a second and buy another one for now 200€. But the dialer thing is a no go and GPS reception often depends on luck.
I'm thinking about Honor 8 now but the glass backside is made for a disaster and I don't know about the EMUI thing.
The BQ seems to be too new to get a price drop. Bad luck with my timing I think
The two features of the P9000 that you will find hard to match are wireless charging and overall size. I haven't come across another reasonably priced 5.5" phone that's as small overall as the P9000 and wireless charging is rare in budget phones. But if these features aren't too important to you then there a dozens of phones to chose from.
A good place to start is kimovil.com - you can select the features that you want and get a list of available devices and prices.
I just bought a Redmi 4X for my son - only 5" and 720p, but an absolute bargain at $125 (now).

Yes, I can live without wireless charging although I got all the hardware and new cars are coming out with this function so I don't see why they can't implement that into more phones.
Size is a bigger problem. Seems like I have to go with 5.2 or less to match the overall size of the P9000. Too bad Elephone is a ****ty company that doesn't seem to care about a phone once it is released.

I just switched from P9000 to Redmi Note 4, WITH LTE Band 20, this week. Main reason: small Screen crack. So far everything fine, I just miss wireless charging.
Good luck, Redmi should be a good choice.
I am going to get a BQ phone, giving a non-chinese brand a shot.

Good bye G6

So, after using the G6 for about 3 months, i finally decided to sell it. Glad i kept my S7 edge. Well, i tried hard and really hard to convince myself to love the G6, but sadly just couldn't. It had a pretty good battery life, a very likeable design and an awesome wide angle camera ( Which i am going to miss). But, apart from these things, it was just a very very ordinary phone. Especially, when it comes to display, my S7 simply out performed the G6 in every possible manner. Not only just to look at it, but also in terms of comfort to the eyes. This is been my true observation and an honest opinion. So, the better blacks on my S7 edge and an over all punchy display ( in terms of sharpness, brightness, colors in some case and viewing angles). I eventually realised i was straining my eyes and i used to get stressed out to watch the same content which i was happily able to view on my S7 edge. But, i now miss that flat screen( i should definitely say, i have started to dislike the edge displays), the clean design and the wide angle lens, but at least to me, the display and the rear camera matters the most, which S7 edge wins hands down compared to the G6. So these are my final thoughts. Good bye once again ( With a heavy heart)

Good bye bro well get you soon with the lg v30
i accidentally used the G6 in comfort view and it was very similar to how my S7 normal looked which was funny.
S7 Edge is a great phone, for me though, from the S7, G6 is definitely an upgrade b/c battery life, dual sim, wide angle cam, hi-fi dac etc but from an S7 Edge is more like a side-grade
I'm currently using LG G6 grate phone not only just to look at it, but also in terms of comfort to the eyes. But i want to use S7 but i have no enough money to buy this phone . There are many qualities in S7 like sharpness, brightness, colors in some case and viewing angle .
And there it is again. Man you made a decision but you don't have to explain it in order to feel better. Because we don't care.
But it's only your opinion and your experience. For me, the LCD screen on the G6 is waaaay better than that pentile saturated screen, with no real colors. Remember G6 has a Dolby Vision and HDR10 screen. It can represent colors a lot better than the S7E.
What other things didn't you like about the G6?

Camera of G6 is better and on G6 you have fullvision display which is so nicee.
I was coming to my g6 from s8 and my feeling up to now is g6 better then s8, camera better, hifi dac better, battery better, the display bigger and brighter, only the design of s8 is good, but the camera is the thing i focus then the design, although i get one s8 with sony sensor, i can say camera of lg g6 is better galaxy s8, too many things for me to get g6 over s8.

Do you use the pixel camera app or stock?
What is with the sharpening on stock camera pictures?
Which advantages does the LG G6 have at the camera?
I am only interested
Read - "I sold my G6 because its not a Samsung". Sad!!

Hopefully it won't give off enough heat to grill.
But the Pro model Pixel 6 from all I've been reading sure appears to be a show stopper!! Think I'll get a 5a in about 6+ months used. Looking forward to these though and I hope Google brings it 110% solid this year! If they don't it will definitely not be good for them that's for sure. Love my 4XL though! Hoping the 6 has zero issues and does all it's said to be able to do.

I'm hoping it cook's roms well in our Developer kitchens!
I'll be excited if Google makes a compact version of a Pixel 6.
A compact version smaller than my Pixel 4a. It would need analogue audio out, preferably via USB-C as opposed to the obsolete 3.5mm connector from the 1950's. My old Pixel 2 requires a relatively expensive pair of USB-C earphones with its own (crappy quality) DAC chip. I think the Pixel 5 doesn't provide analogue audio through the USB-C port neither (correct me if I'm wrong). I once had a Sony XZ2 Compact which provided analogue audio out through the USB-C port which meant I could use cheaper earphones and would ironically still sound better due to a better DAC chip built into the phone itself. I would love to have a compact Pixel which has a little fat form factor like a Sony XZ2 Compact. Am currently still using my Pixel 4a . I like it and all and was the best choice available to me at the time I had to buy a new phone, but is still too big to use single handed comfortably and is restrictive in my pocket when climbing around tight spaces on construction sites. There are other small phones out there, but they don't support custom OS with relockable bootloader such as GrapheneOS or CalyxOS.
I feel like Tensor Cores in Pixel 6 are built to run the 'TensorFlow' open source ML platform used in Pixel 2's portrait modes -- especially given that Google has dropped pixel 4's IR hardware based depth mapping entirely and has gone to single lense hole punch front facing cameras in favor of longer exposure times over infared sensors to do low light work.

Sarcasm aside, we don't know if this is real (another clearly fake one has also been spotted on Geekbench), whether it was using the latest software (if real), etc... Also, benchmarks don't always translate into real world use.
But if these numbers do turn out to be accurate, it will be disappointing for sure from a strictly benchmarking point of view without consideration of AI, etc.

When word was out that Google would be premiering their own TENSOR core CPU blah blah, people were carrying on about how it will blow everything out of the water... It was important then....
Now that initial; performance leaks suggest its nothing short of a mid spec CPU (at this state), it doesn't matter any more?

Did I say it doesn't matter? No, I said from a benchmarking point of view it would be disappointing. Of course that matters. But additionally, benchmarking is not the all end be all.
And like I said, we don't even know if this "leak" is real or even accurate. We'll actually have to wait and see what the benchmarks actually end up being before drawing any firm conclusions.

I believe its real, but i also believe there is still some more HW/SW tweaking to be done...
Bear in mind, Google have stated they this will be a premium priced device, so one would expect premium SW and HW.
Pixel camera HW and SW have always been sensational...
i want to ask about the availability of pixel 6? which countries do pixel 6 available?
