After OTA update 20160531, i can define only 2 fingerprint (not 5).
When i try add third, i have to remove first or second.
Before update i used 3 fingerprints. Prolly this old patern block to define more then 2 new pattern.
How to fix this, if i want to use 5 pattern ?
I had the same, ended up reseting the phone (just restarting did nothing) and now it works OK.
Also note that I was unable to save new WiFi passwords until I reseted the phone :S
Still measuring and testing to see if the battery-life really improved.
Same problem experienced. Fingerprint can not be stored. Please delete finger print. Problem is there's no way of deleting the FPs I've previously stored. May be an idea.. Prior to updating, deleting your stored fingerprints to see if it can circumvent this issue.
Really not looking forward to resetting...
I had 5fp before, and after this f*cking update comes always this message:
enrollment was not completed.
fingerprint can't be stored.
please remove an existing fingerprint
How to remove it, or how to complete it?

Settings - > Security - > Fingerprint.
There you can find your registered fingerprints. "Fingerprints (x/5)", tap on any of them and a popup comes up, choose "delete".

I Confirm with my Pin XXXX
On next screen "Find the sensor" i click NEXT-button and then pop-ups the following message:
enrollment was not completed.
fingerprint can't be stored.
please remove an existing fingerprint
confirm with ok, brings me back to Settings -> Security
Thats after OTA update 20160531 which i do today.

Factory reset. This is what I said previously. If you have 5 saved prior to updating it gives no option or ability to delete the saved FP. Can someone confirm if deleting all FP records prior to updating circumvents this?
Really strange that some are having problems and some are not.
My phone is unrooted and I have no problem in adding finger prints.
Could this be a probem mainly with rooted phoes?

Mines unrooted. The issue seems to appear if you had all 5 spots filled. Others with only 3 FP saved seem to have no problem.
I had 3 stored, so after the update I could only add two. The original 3 no longer work, but can't be deleted as the phone doesn't think they are there.
Running stock, no root.

realy stupid
so mine isnt rooted too.
Same problem here. Had 5 prints before..
hi, same problem for me, with the update I loose all my home settings and I can register only 1 fingerprint..... :crying::crying:
Clear the factory Reset the sdcard partition? I mean not the external sdcard in slot, I mean the sdcard partition on phone
factory reset for an update? are you crazy?
some people use smartphones for work , updates should help not destroy
Mine's unrooted
Had 4x FPs before the update, and only 1 slot left since.
So I think it's not a specific number of FPs that cause the issue, it's a general thing where the update removes access to the FP records.
Takes me several hours, and needs work IT to approve, to rebuild my phone after a reset. I'll have to live with one FP for now.
Hey,
The same prob here. 5had 5 FP before and i cant change my FP now. Where can i kill my FP. Ist there a file or something?
we want an update for resolve without factory reset!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you shouldn't have to, but have you tried resetting your pin/pattern/password. Then try finger print scans again. I have 5 as before & appears to be working much better, however I'm running eragon 2.8 (but it's based on the latest 20160531 official update)

touchpad with uber kernel for a few weeks...no issues...
decided to try f4 tonight...email won't load...just says "retrieving email text" until it errors...uninstalled....back to uber...still not working...any ideas on how to fix this without having to start over from scratch?
Just a heads up.
Appears the newest version of muffle is causing problems with downloading email attachments: forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad-homebrew/297651-muffle-system-logging-blocking-email-attachments.html
I'm having the transferred photos not showing up problem (still on -21 update), haven't yet tried the hard reset that was suggested here: forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/297585-transferred-pictures-not-showing-up.html
can't post links yet so have to copy/paste.
I'm having the email issue.. The only suggestions I've found didn't work, and I'd rather not reset the whole thing. Hopefully the dev fixes the issue soon.
I'm having the same issue. Supposedly it is an issue with the latest release of muffled system logging.

Thread with info and a "Fix" here. http://forums.precentral.net/hp-tou...ystem-logging-blocking-email-attachments.html
It supposedly muffles so well, that temp files for pictures, emails, downloads etc aren't even being created. That's what you get for turning it up to 11.
Edit: Author of patch already knows from my understanding, anyway, I'm restoring myself. Whooray for meta-doctor. Preware and testing feeds enabled, check.
Touchpad not recieving + sending email.
So my touchpad has stopped sending and receiving/retrieving email. My gmail folders show messages 2 weeks ago but none that are more recent, and my university email refuses to send anything. I've deleted my accounts more than once and have restarted.
I'm not sure if kernels affect this, but I'm running the Warthog Kernel at 1.7.
Any help would be appreciated!
What other patches do you have installed?
I'm unable to uninstall the muffle system logging, but I have:
ad blocker
add download link option
advanced reset options
default to month view
faster card animations hyper
increase touch sensitivity... 10
no vibrate or sound on messaging send
private browsing
quiet powerd messages
remove dropped packet logging
remove tap ripple
unhide dev mode icon
unset cfq io scheduler
unthrottle download manager
right now, whenever I quit out of mail and reopen, I have to reconfigure my mail accounts- they don't even save!

There is a 3.0.2.23 version on preware. Try installing that to see if that fixes the problem. For me I just did a full erase in the Settings and reinstalled everything and it worked fine. Still haven't downloaded v23 since v21 seems to be doing fine right now. Hopefully v23 fixes the touchpad for everyone else.

[Q] Email won't download
All of the sudden my emails won't load. The program opens and I can see the 3 sections, and all of my folders are there and I can select the emails and I get "An Error occurred downloading this message". But it is for all messages in both my Yahoo and Gmail mailboxes. Only thing different I can think of is I updated the F-15 Kernel.. anybody else have this issue?
**Updated - Uninstalled F-15 Kernel, removed all email accounts and then set them up again and still can't view emails***
Did you download the "Muffle System Logging" patch? If so, did you download the 3.0.2.22 version? If you did those 2 things then that can explain why you are getting the "An Error occurred downloading this message" email message.
What I did to fix it was do a full erase on the touchpad from the settings menu and reinstall everything.

I just did that, but when I set my device back up from scratch, it still didn't work. My "game" and "homebrew" tabs were left over from before, and I'm sure everything else was too, but "hidden".
installed govnah, and it said I was running at 1.7, meaning that my install of the Warthog kernel stayed after my full erase.
Full Erase is not enough, you need to doctor your 'pad in order to restore the OS to factory defaults.
Full Erase only erases the user data area, it does not touch the system area, which is where OS patches are installed.
Doctoring a 'pad is the only way to completely restore the entire solid state drive, and thus the device, to stock default.

That's quite interesting. From my understanding of the doctoring process that shouldn't have persisted. Apparently doctoring a 'pad isn't quite as through as I had been led to believe.

It wasn't necessary to doctor it because a full erase was good enough for me to work and was confirmed by other ppl that ran into the same issue. The other step that you had to do was to remove the email accounts and recreate them. I even have the 3.0.2.21 muffle system logging patch installed right now and my email is working fine.
This is what worked for me:
1) Uninstall Muffle
2) Reboot
3) Remove mail accounts
4) Reboot
5) Connect using WebOSQuickInstall-4.2.3
6) Go to Tools, Linux Commandline
7) Paste in "find /var/file-cache -type f -mtime -7 -exec rm -f {} \;" minus quotes
8) Reboot
I'm leaving Muffle off until this issue is resolved.
** There is a chance that you may have to Dr. your Touchpad after this, some people claim to have had issues. I accept no responsibility for damages.
Is there even a point to muffle beyond what you can already do with ##logs# ? That pretty much shuts down the entire non-error logging system doesn't it?
I have a problem on my Galaxy S3, running android 4.1.1 on Vodafone network in the UK. It is not rooted.
I want to make sure the phone is unlocked before buying a sim card for use in France
Using the stock dialer, "*#7465625#" gives me "ussd code running" followed by "Unknown command".
Looking around elsewhere, others have blamed it on Mobile Tracker, which as far as I can see, I don't have. The only solution I have seen is a factory reset, which is a scary prospect for me, not having any idea what that entails. And then reinstalling apps one by one until the culprit is found. I have also seen comments about ussd security issues. I am slowly heading out of my depth here (I know my way round windows quite well, but phones are unknown territory for me,).
I am hoping some clever souls on this forum might be able to help. Is this a known, and solved, problem? Or is a factory reset my best bet?
If I have to reset, I know where the reset is in the menu system - on the same page as a checked box saying backup. So...does does the back up happen automatically or when I press reset or have I got it completely wrong? If not, which files do I need to save away from the phone? What happens to things like contacts I can remove the external SD card, so that won't be an issue. How do I reinstall the apps, particularly the ones I have already paid for?
I have spent most of the afternoon tried to get a handle on this and my head is spinning now.
Any help at all, would be very warmly received.
Polly
1st solution : root your phone, very easy procedure then you can flash the same stock ROM from sammobile.com to become unrooted again without wiping/resetting your phone.
2nd solution: download APPSAVER from market for free, then you can save all the applications you have downloaded but not the DATA (for example you can save the game itself but not the progress you have achieved)
as for the contacts, go to the contacts folder - menu import/export - export to usb storage and voila all your contacts will be written in a single file that you can import after you reset your phone
as for SMS, you can download "SMS Backup & Restore" from market for free to backup then restore your SMSs
after you perform the above, go to Settings - Back up and reset - Factory data reset and your phone will be back as you received it.
On the other hand if the phone is locked you can always unlock it using Voodoo S3 on the Play Store, it can sim-unlock your device if you're rooted of course.
Great reply, thank you!
Rooting...a bit loth to do that while still under guarantee and at my level of experience. One day I will get hold of an old phone and try it with that first.
Appsaver - what a brilliant app, thank you again. If it is one particular app that is the problem (and that is the sense that I get from elsewhere), then I can use this to back up my apps, uninstall them all, check for the ussd error. If it has disappeared, then reinstall apps one at a time until the error reappears. If it hasn't disappeared, then I can go the reset route, after backing up contacts and SMS.
Thank you so much for your help.

Ah. The more I try to read up on this, it feels the more lost I get.
How do I check whether the phone is unlocked...borrow someone's micro sim card?
Hello All,
I am using a SGS3 with latest CM11 nightly on it. This is a company phone. They are asking now for encrypting my phone. I know there is a possibility under Settings > Security > Encrypt phone. In my opinion it is not working. I did a couple of time the following:
1. I went to Settings > Security > Encrypt phone.
2. To activate the button, I need to plug in the charger, because for the long estimated time.
3. It asked me to protect the phone with a PIN code before starting the process, I give it.
4. When I start the process of encryption I get the drawing of the little Android roboter and that's it.
In my opinion nothing happens. I can close the process with no message, nothing. The only thing what happens is, there is nothing in the notification bar after starting. Has somebody an idea what I do wrong? Now I made a factory reset and it is in the 'show roboter state' now since hours. BTW, I have a 32GB sdcard installed. Does it really take that long?
Please help me. It would be bad, if I need to remove the awesome work of Malag.
Kind regards, Andreas

Phone encryption is not working on many CM 11 devices like SGS3.
You have to read the "Known Issues for i9300" page, therefore I'm one of the few users who keep it constantly updated
Now I don't know if your phone is untouched by this buggy process, but to solve any consequent anomaly you have to do a Titanium Backup of important data (not a Nandroid backup, because it preserve the encryption!) and do a "full wipe".
Yes, a full wipe.
Then reinstall rom and everything you're needed.
Hopefully this is in the right forum... But I am using the HSBC Banking app and recently moved over to this Digital Security key they are offering. Today I updated the ROM on my phone and it has stopped recognising the password as correct and won't allow me to log in, I'm guessing it stored a file somewhere on my phone and now that file is missing? Dunno...
Anyway, fortunately I took a full system backup before updating so hopefully i'll be able to restore to that and it will start working again, but my question is for anyone that has been in this situation too, is there a way that in the future I can avoid this? Is there a file I can backup or something that anyone knows of? I tried using Titanium and restoring the apk data but that didn't do the job either.
It's going to be really annoying if I have to ring HSBC everytime I update my phone :/
So thanks for reading everyone and thanks for any help!
Hello there,
Did you find a solution to your problem ?
I have the exact same issue with HSBC secure key connection and the fact that doing a full update of a ROM disconnect the password/login of this HSBC app. And the only solution is to call them back to reset the password -> really annoying.
Have you try a back up app ? And restoring the data afterward ?
Cheers,
Nicolas

That won't work. I've taken a full backup of app+data with Titanium Backup and restored it after doing a ROM update. It works for other banking apps but not for HSBC - automatically the login gets invalidated and you need to call HSBC to get the digital secure key reactivated on the new ROM.
Hey i have a terrible adware thingy on my phone, unable to remove it. No antivirus detect anything.. Its different sometimes. Before it came only when i open whatsapp now it comes anywhere. It comes 1 time a week (not often) very few times a week. Pls help.. How do i remove this????
No one knows ?
if it started just on whats app i would generally suggest it has linked to the whats app files. now it is opening more and more it has now sync with most of your files and folders.
best thing to do factory reset your device save as much as you can to SD card which you need.
1 Before you reset your Android , see options for backing up your data.
2 On your mobile device, open the Settings menu Settings .
3 Under "Personal", touch Backup & reset. You may need to enter your pattern, PIN or password.
4 Under "Personal data", touch Factory data reset.
5 Read the information on the screen and touch Reset phone.
6 If you have a screen lock, you'll need to enter your pattern, PIN or password.
7 When prompted, touch Delete everything to delete all data from your device's internal storage.
8 When your device has finished erasing, select the option to reboot your device.
Ps stay off the porn sites ^^ generally virus are downloads when visiting random links and the website installs an .apk generally the main anti virus programs are paid to miss these or dont bother because they think there a part of an .apk so do not flag up hope this helps

Yeah more and more things like this are being sent through whatsapp and fb. It mostly because now alot of people from smaller/developing countries are using it while the majority of us gave it up and switched to something else.
if you would like to know where and what is pop it up try installing "QtADB" it has a program in it called "logcat" basically shows you all jobs that the phone is running you can use this to bug check where the program is running from but you may be going in circles for a few hours thats why i said just to reset. google QtADB should come up with a list of instructions to install.
