Bluetooth lack - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a "Original Xiaomi Bluetooth Remote Controller". All ROMs that are not based on MIUI (AOSP, CM ...) can see this cintroller, and I can normally connect and pair the controller and cell phone, so camera shoot picture when I press the button on the controller.
But with Rom who are based on Miui, mobile phone can not find the controller. Not see it. Like it (controller) does not egsist. Applications such as "Bluetooth pair", "Bluetooth Device Picker" see the controller, but it can not be paired with phone.
With some other Xiaomi phones with Miui rum thing works (Note 4g, Redmi 2 ...).
I've tried other modem drivers (p37, p45, p51, p52...), but does not help
What could be a mistake with bluetooth in Redmi Note 2?

The bluetooth driver in the current MIUI is crap, at least for this phone. It keeps randomly crashing and/or disconnecting for me every few hours. There are other threads about bluetooth issues, so maybe yours is just another one of them.

I don't have any problem at all with bluetooth (ROM based on MR-7230). In fact, all other ROMs (AICP, CM, etc) do not work with bluetooth in my car (hands-free phone calls). But the MR-7230 based ROM works perfectly.

@DarthJabba9 which modem version does that ROM use? I tried 52, 51 and 37 and all of them have the same problem of just hanging up and not responding to connection. The 37 one has it a bit less frequent, though.

Modem p37. But I have also used p48, and that was ok as well. I believe p37 is supposed to better for battery life - but who knows?

I don't really see any difference in battery life between those versions. If anyone has already tried the MIUI8 beta, does it have a new modem version, or are we still on p52?

I don't have enough posts to query the development forums, but can anyone confirm whether or not they've gotten bluetooth smart/4.0 BLE working with any of the available 4.3 based roms?
I've been holding out on buying a Bluetooth HRM for a long time, now (actually bought this phone BECAUSE it advertised bluetooth 4.0 as a feature....), and may be willing to lose touchwiz to use one, early.
Yes, I'm aware legacy bluetooth HRM's are available, but I know myself well enough to know I won't remember to charge it every day or two.

I said, "Wait.... What!?" It seems like I've been waiting for this for years at this point. I wanted an H7, not an old zephyr hxm, but it hasn't been compatible. Now suddenly they claim the runtastic model works on the Note 2? There's no official 4.3, is there?? I searched these forums, best I could find was CM 10.2 derived ROMS, but they all say it includes CM's bug list--but I couldn't find that anywhere either. All I can figure is this was a misprint.
I'm with you, I care about this also, but I don't think enough people do.

I finally sucked it up and bought the legacy zephyr HRM.
It cost $15 more than the BT-LE version, and the battery life is crap, but I'm happy and endomondo seems a LOT more accurate, now.
This phone is dumb. Google needs to get their crap together, or put a leash on their representative manufacturers advertising unusable phone features.

It works great on any of the TW based ROMs, but as far as the 4.3 based ones, it is getting closer. Tried a few of the nightlies since a couple of weeks ago and my Fitbit finally shows up in CM10.2, but still won't pair. This is one of the few things keeping me from running CM10.2 full-time.
I keep flashing a nightly every few days just to check progress, but end up going back to my nandroid TW backup.
Does this work with CM 10.2 and/or CM11 nowadays? I'm thinking of buying a Fitbit and was wondering if it will sync with the phone.

I can confirm that the Zephyr HxM Smart does in fact work on 4.3 TW ROMs. Specifically RunDouble and Runtastic on Sophisticated ROM 2.5.

Bluetooth issue CM/AOSP based roms?

I have recently been having issues with all new cm based roms that my bluetooth skips and kind of loose signal ...not disconnecting but when I make a call and listen in the other phone that I'm calling with to my device and speak in to the mic some words get muffled?
example: if I say 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 testing testing I can only hear 1 2 - - 5 6 - - - 10 te--ing test--
The sound just disappears from time to time like like a lag or skip from time to time
The headset tested is Plantronics Voyager Legend and Sony Ericsson MW600. The issue started the other people complained that someone of us had bad reception and the audio skipped but neither did and had full bars when looking at the notification bar.
Tested the same headsets on Xperia U and HTC One X and the sound is normal. It affects only the Z ultra C6833.

i seem to be experiencing the same issue with the rom i'm using (CandyRom), paired with my car's bluetooth speaker. Have not experienced this on my headset though

mmm I was on the latest candyrom when this started.. switched over to naked CM11 and the issue remained. Flashed stock rom .108 nordic and the issue disappeared but I hate stock rom . Flashed the GPE port but my device became slow and when using the 3.5mm plug I always had loud white noise in the background that was disturbing me!.. so I went back to stock .108 and now I'm probably just gonna flash the latest CM11 nightly and stop use bluetooth for a while until this is solved..
Because with stock rom I can't use long press Vol up or Vol down to skip song on Spotify or PlayerPro without the volume being changed on step at the time! If I skip songs like five times I've pretty soon reached max volume and have to lower the volume again ... like wtf?? Both commands executes at the same time ..gaah!
Sometimes I just want to keep things simple but no I am a flashoholic. I need to modify my device to feel satisfied ahahah

Stock or Custom ROM?

I bought my Redmi Note 5 (which happens to be my first Xiaomi phone) a week ago and I gotta say MIUI is much better than I expected. It's pretty fast and has a lot of features and the camera app is fine. I want your opinion: Is LineageOS or other custom ROMs worth it for this device? I have a pretty good amount of experience with custom ROMs but I was wondering if I would be missing out on anything if I switch to a custom ROM. Is the camera app as good as/better than the MIUI camera app? Does it have PROPER manual mode? Do I still get slow motion, portrait mode front and back, and other cool stuff? If not, can I flash a camera app for that? I have a billion questions that can be answered with your opinion and a link to a ROM you like, if any.

Sorry to dissapoint but we really lucked out on developers with this device.

MIUI 10 is still in beta though, right? I guess I'll have to give it a month or so. I'm currently running MIUI 9.5.19 and the system update app says I'm good.

9.5.19 is for note 5 global so this forum is not for your device. You have to go note 5 pro forum (it's pro only in India, Chinese and global are both note 5 without pro)

MIUI 9.5 is based on Oreo 8.1 for me. And isn't MIUI 10 based on Pie 9.0?

Using RR and have none of your named problems. No Wakelocks, though there is a Netlink problem happening randomly when flashing, but ez reconnect battery and it's fixed. Luckily I never faced that bug.
Also Gcam Mod is amazing, pictures are as good as in MIUI Camera.
RAM management is way, waaaay better than in MIUI, no crashes, no lags, no hot reboots.
Battery Life is the same, can't point out a difference.
No screen brightness & heating issues either. The sceen burn was a wrong driver in DarkAges Kernel, as far as I understood it.
Running in RR and can highly recommend to get rid of MIUI, then you can unleash the full power of your phone !
Same goes for Liquid Remix. None, really NONE of the problems discribed above occur. WiFi is superb, gcam works without a single hiccup, sound is great, battery life is even better than on MIUI.
I don't understand why so many people put so much hate on custom roms for Vince, you just have to search for the well maintained roms and not for the ones that gets an initial release and then be abandoned by the devs (aka the indian teenagers that clone complete repos and just put their name on it)
I'd rather prefer MIUI, ive tried almost every custom ROM. My internet connection keeps dropping, im unable to play Clash Royale and other online games, the connection drops. The only fix is to DEGRADE the connection type to 2G within the mobile network settings.

- Rounded corners are okay, I like them. That is no bug, that's the decision of the dev.
- Battery is decent, 10+ hours of SoT.
- RAM is no problem, never under 1000mb free
- Never had ANY problem with WiFi. Check your router.
- Heating? What is heating for you? Never ever had more than 40°C, even when playing PUBG.
- Force close on back key works on smart bar. Use that.
- Fast charge works fine, see attached Screenshot.
- Speaker and headphone are fine, what the f* do you expect from a PHONE?
Well, I think you are the one spreading lies here, nearly everything you have mentioned above simply isn't true. Maybe you should switch to iOS if you cannot setup your android device properly.

Question S22 Plus / + Unofficial Bugs thread

Before everyone gets their S22+, it would be nice for those who have the S22+ to share bugs here. Pre-ordered an S22+!
Question: What bugs have you been facing with your S22+? Do you think they are hardware/software issues?
When surfing in Chrome and Google, the screen turns off, turns completely black, and you have to slowly swipe your finger back to turn it on.
Bluetooth does not work on Renault R-link 2. It is constantly disconnected.
Bluetooth connection to the Jabra Talk 30 does not always work smoothly.
Faceunlock is a disaster, almost unusable.
And scrolling the screen is jerky in most cases, incredibly bad.
So far I have used Xiaomi MI 10 and after switching I am not happy.
I hope the first update will fix some problems.

My only big issue is Google play services drains battery xD the rest all good, no big bugs, camera awesome, BT also
When I tap the lower half back of the phone, it feels like a spring. I think the vibration motor might be too loose. Does this happen to anyone else?
Received mine two days ago - no problems yet. The fingerprint scanner is way better than the S20, but face recognition is still unreliable.
I was impressed with the Samsung Smartswitch app that wirelessly copied everything from my S20 and set it up exactly as it was - apps, settings, alarms, custom sounds, themes, screen layouts, widgets, and wallpapers.
I'm facing an issue in the Samsung's version of Google Messages. Grouping does not seem to work for me at all. I tried clearing the app cache and rebooting as well. Not a huge problem, but still worth mentioning.
Been using it for only a few days now, and I'm very happy with the performance. Coming from an S10 with Exynos, it sure feels much snappy with a Snapdragon.
The biggest issue/bug of that phone is battery... I don't really get it, why SOT is so embarrassing... :| Other things are brilliant, but because of battery i'm loosing every inch of pleasure with using this phone... :|

Did you find a reason of that issue? I have simillar and this is annoying. Clean wipe, factory reset, done synchorinized every account didn't solve the problem... SOT is already on 3,5h - 4h :|

I'm not sure... Year after year there is more preinstalled applications in this phones :| Samsung app + Samsung Dex, Google Apps, Microsoft Apps... Hardware is great i don't doubt it, but software is too overloaded in my opinion and they obviously aren't able to control it somehow :|
Dex is a nice feature, but samsung free, facebook services and other preinstalled stuff that don't really contribute are annoying

Yes, that's ture. I agree, Samsung Dex is nice feature. I hope, that next update will change something positively in SOT I really like this phone, but until it happend i'm a little disapointed because of Smartphone for that price ;D
Update: My battery issues are related to either mobile data or location services. I only used my phone at home and connected to wifi for a day and my maximum SOT per 100% doubled!

Hi Everyone,
I'm in Canada and thinking of picking up the GT 2 Pro (global version) from a local store.
Currently on the Fido network and was wondering:
1. Is anyone having any issues connecting to this carrier? Or any other Canadian carrier?
2. Are there issues updating to Android 13 (comes installed with A12)?
3. Does WiFi connect/disconnect?
4. Should I stay away from this phone and look at something else?

I'm on Freedom, no issues, except no VoLTE available (might be just a carrier thing).
It's cheaper to get Chinese version and flash Global.
Netflix may not work due to Widevine L3 (at least on chinese).

No issues, it's a solid phone. I've had it since summer last year. I'm on A.13 C.12. Check Kimovil.com or other website for full specs on modem bands.
Realme has been pretty good with updates and fixing bugs, they have been releasing updates approx. every month.
Double check current warranty policy. When I bought mine, Realme did not support Canadian/US market.
If you have more cash, you might want to consider Galaxy for better warranty and popularity.

1. I dont know (living in EU)
2. Nope, smooth update, without bugs.
3. Nope, wifi works great (2,4 GHz and 5GHz on WiFi6, WiFi 5 and 4 also OK) for long distances (better than any other phone I've had).
4. This phone is a good deal if you buy it at a reasonable price ($840 CAD is OK) - good cooling system (SD8 gen 1 is disaster in many phones), 3 mayor Android updates, fast charging, SOT 8-9 hours, nice OS (easy to clean), nice display.
Some may be disappointed by the lack of wireless charging and no IPxx (rain and moisture are no problem).

That's the only explanation I have. I've been using the European rom since day one, and 0 problems (A12, A13, all OK...).
My experience: Mobile data, Wifi, Bluetooth and NFC are fine, no problems. The battery could last more SOT 6,5 hours during two days of use.
I switched from HTC U12+ and I am satisfied.I only changed the launcher, but that's just a matter of taste.

Maybe competitors testing the phone
Some of the issues I have encountered:
1. Low volume on USB-C to 3.5mm adapter -> workaround is to set automatic run of a shell command via Tasker to adjust gain (needs root)
2. Stock camera app isn't color-accurate -> fixed with GCam
3. Some of preloaded Oppo/Realme apps can be annoying -> remove via adb or root app manager
4. Google assistant's read/reply to message while driving function is broken for me - not sure if this is Realme-specific or a common issue. GA will read message, but stop listening for reply.
5. No official free recovery flash tool available. Current EDL flash tool is one-time token based, so you need to pay someone (like $5) to unlock it, in case of a brick.

4. This phone is a good deal if you buy it at a reasonable price ($840 CAD is OK) - good cooling system (SD8 gen 1 is disaster in many phones), 3 mayor Android updates, fast charging, SOT 8-9 hours, nice OS (easy to clean), nice display.
Some may be disappointed by the lack of wireless charging and no IPxx (rain and moisture are no problem).

- Don't expect 8-9 hours SOT, some users claim to get that but most user can't get near this....5-6 maximum is what you should expect from it.
- stock camera sucks, specially for videos, if you not into using gcam and other apps for photos and videos specially if you use the front camera think twice. If you ok using gcam and, mcpro24fps for example you can get good results.
- screen doesn't seem to match the specs advertised, brightness doesn't seem the advertised and touch sampling rate is advertised at 1000hz but it only reach 125hz.
- if you want to play with flashing the device there is no oficial free tool to flash it in case something goes wrong, so in case you get a brick you gonna have to pay a ramdom stranger to access you PC via TeamViewer and flash it for you, and you gonna pay for it.
- don't expect any custom rom for this device.
- snap 8gen1 is power hungry and likes to throttle, but that's not a Realme only problem...
Those are the problems I can remember right now.
