Lagginess when deleting photos - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Gurus.
Does the Gallery app communicate (with Goole Photos maybe?) when you delete photos? I almost feel it is worth installing a network monitor /snoop to check this out.
My problem: My Galaxy S6 "lags" after deleting a photo. After a second or two, the gallery works fine again, but during this lag it feels like the gallery app freezes, i.e you can't swipe to another photo, bring up the options to delete another photo, etc. Some times it takes a moment before this "freeze" kicks in, so it is then possible to delete a second photo before it starts. But that makes the freeze double as long. As far as I can tell it is just the gallery app itself that freezes.
A replacement photo viewer/gallery app might be in order >:-/
Thank you

[Q] Q: Sequence of slideshow photos displayed in Gallery app

Using CM7x_93nightly on NS4G.
Is there a tweak/setting in the Gallery app so that the sequence order of images displayed in a slideshow follow alphabetical/numeric sequence rather than by the date of the install?
I installed QuickPic as an alternative "Gallery" app. QPic has a handful of settings including one that mentions "logical order" but is not flawless. Still better than Gallery. Is there anything else better that you would recommend?
Off topic:
Anyone suggest best passphrase storage app. (preferably one that does NOT require online sync) I am using Roboform but keeping an open mind to other apps that might be better.

Screencap not working on specific apps

Just recently got a refurbished phone from Sprint. Has been working fine except whenever I try to take a screencap in specific apps, or on the unlock screen it doesn't work. Just turns the screen off without taking the pic. Works every other time I try to use it except when I try on the unlock screen and in dolphin browser (also had experienced the problem on one other app anytime I tried to screenshot, but deleted the app.)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled dolphin several times, and have hard reset the phone. Same problem of not being able to screencap on same apps and the unlock screen. Could this be a problem with the phone itself? It has become quite annoying because dolphin is my preferred browser, and I'm having to open the stock browser whenever I'm wanting to grab a pic.

Google Camera doesn't work well with Vibrant

The Google Camera app Google released a few weeks ago is awesome! problem is I can only take photos. can't record video. Every time I try to record a video, the app will crash and stop working. every time i go back in, it is in video mode and app will crash and i can;t go back to camera mode. I have to clear data on the app then I can go into the camera mode. Same for the settings to change an settings. The app will crash.
Any fixes?

Sorry for the truly late reply but this one works (look for the camera module package), although I prefer this one for ease of use. Both tested and working.

Extremely slow and unresponsive dialer

Hi all,
Over the past couple of days, I've noticed that when I'm in the dialer, trying to make a call, my phone is extremely laggy and unresponsive and it takes forever to actually get it to make a call.
I press the call button and nothing happens for a couple of seconds. It's extremely frustrating.
I've tried clearing the app data and cache of the dialer as well as clearing app cache (from storage) but nothing seems to work.
The slowness doesn't appear anywhere else and only happened after the latest firmware update. Anyone else with a similar problem, and any way to fix this?
Thanks
Get the ex dialer and your problem is solved fast small powerfully
Settings/Developer Options/ tick on "Force GPU Rendering, Disable HW Overlays & Force 4x MSAA" should make the beast smoother, faster. If you are rooted, install a custom kernel, from Play Store Entropy/fstrim apps/L Speed.
Have you cleared your call log? I've found if it gets too large, it tends to slow down the app.

Made the beast faster but the dialer lag problem persists. Its the latest update. Some sort of bug in it.
Same problem on my phone
Yes, mee too. I have several situations when the dialer gets slower and unresponsive. Maybe we can try a 3rd party solution, like is Nova for the launcher... Do this alternative exist?
Backup contacts , delete them and restore. That should to it. It did for me. All lags gone.
The right way to remove lag from dialer and contacts first backup your contacts and then go in settings>apps and delete data from these two apps contacts and contacts storage.

No effect for me! Seems to be a major bug in V30. The lag when searching a contact can be sometimes even 2 seconds, a shame for 2018.
So, no 3rd party app is capable to replace the original LG Contacts / Dialer app?

I have around 1700 contacts and even opening scrolling down and clicking on random contact opens in a second or less.
How did you backed your contact through lg backup or contacts export?
Contacts - manage contacts - back up
Same here 930DS V30+, extremely frustrating..... contacts and dialer are extremely laggy, very painful, any idea what's causing it, seems to search constantly for contacts online and refresh is very slow....
I am desparate.....
It's a pitty because otherwise the phone is the best I have ever had...
Please help!!!
From my experience, this huge lag is not present everytime when I access the Contact / Dial functions. The challenge is to discover what make this apps so laggy, maybe another app that runs simultaneous. I was waiting to see the lag after clear all apps and reopen Contacts / Dialer but today I have no lag anymore, even at the first start of the apps.
Untill we will discover the reason, we will get Oreo in March
I found the solution! Google Phone! It works wonderful! Bye, bye LG Dialer (no root)
From a user: " When you install it, make sure and go to your settings menu, then apps, then Configure apps, and then set the new dialer to be your default phone app. "

Porting Samsung apps

I've had this phone a little over a week now and it's a great phone for the price. However, the file manager and photo apps suck. I tried other photo apps and even tried the intrusive Google photo apps and none of them come close to Samsungs. Either their editor suck, is missing or I can't arrange my photos to my liking. Google photos is stuck on "getting your photos" and none of the fixes I saw work. The file manager is really slow to move or copy and other ones won't stay in the folder I chose. So is there any way to port Samsungs apps to this phone? I'm coming from the S9 (sm-g960u).
