Please help: Settings has stopped in I545_OF1_Stock_Rooted_ROM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi,
I applied I545_OF1_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip with Flashfire, which successfully upgraded my rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 from KitKat 4.4.2 to Lollipop 5.0.1 .
Everything is working fine, but when I go to Settings and select Accounts -> Google, I get this error message:
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". As a result I lost control over Google synchronization.
I Would greatly appreciate any help with this problem.,
- Alex.

This may be an issue with a Google Play Services update. Lots of people have reported this issue. You can probably get to your Google account sync settings by running the stock Gallery app. Hit Menu button and select Settings from the drop down. That should get you to the Google sync settings.

Same thing just happened to me. I was lucky enough to have a backup on my computer and just flashed it back to an earlier state. I still haven't been able to get a custom rom going via flashfire though. I don't understand what's going on. VERIZON *shaking fist*!

If you are experiencing the same issue as others, the first time Play Services gets updated, the problem will return.

[Q] Google Play server error

On ICS and no problems till yesterday, was updating some apps on google play and had to leave the wifi area, closed the prime and next time I get server error. Tried stopping the app deletining cache, still same problem. So tried uninstalling all updates to play and got back to Market, still the same error. Tried a Factory reset and still getting the same error.
Any ideas anyone ?
Just tried looking at Google Play on the PC and does not now recognise the Prime even though Gmail has synched OK on it

Hi,
It might be worth deleting your account, re-booting, re-installing your account , and see if that works.
Tried that, eventually resorted to a Factory reset. Still the same problem and now the Prime is not recognised on the PC Google store whereas it was previously, but Gmail is syncing withe the Prime no problem, really weird. But if I cant access the store its not fit for purpose and is going back

Have you tried simply turning off your Prime's Wi-Fi setting and turning it back on? I got that same Server Error and did not go away until I turned of Wi-fi and back on. Weird, I know. This happened to me like 3 times when I was trying to delete caches and data and whatever else to get rid of the 101 error. Rebooting did not cure it, either ... I had to actually off/on the wi-fi setting. Go figure.
Once you get rid of the server error, if you still have the Market/Google Play error, simply delete your Gmail account under Settings | Accounts & sync by clicking on your Gmail account, then clicking the "options" icon on the upper right of your screen (6 small square dots). Reboot and go back into your gmail accounts, etc ... logging in as necessary.
Hope it works for you, too...
Have the same "server error" on 101 for 2 days already.
Tried everything, including changing to different firmwares, different market versions e.t.c. Not working. And old versions does not auto update too.
Seems like the problem with market server address, but it;s a bit strange that it remains even after changing firmware, and other Google services work normally.

You did not mention removing your Gmail account under Accounts & sync in Settings, then rebooting ... worked like a charm for me. As soon as I logged back into Gmail and went to the Market, all was well. So, if you did not already try it, you might give it a shot. My Prime was getting that error for a full day ... got really annoying.

Hi Michael,
It sounds like you're having general connectivity issues - please try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
- Reboot your device
- Sign in and out of Google Talk repeatedly to restore connection to our servers:
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already signed into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Clear the cache of the Google Play Store app (Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Play Store > Clear cache)
- If you're using WiFi, ensure firewalls are not blocking access to ports required for Google Play (TCP and UDP 5228)
- Confirm that there is strong connectivity on your device, and contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected
- Uninstall updates to the Google Play Store app by visiting:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Play Store" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
If none of these steps resolve the issue, please let me know, and I will continue to investigate the problem - any other detail you can provide about the issue and how/when it occurs will be extremely helpful.

@TaIz82 @stevenshea great! Glad that it worked for you.
@G1azier I tried vpn but no use, maybe I got on wrong one Great that there is this solution too.
@macowbourne
This can hardly be an general connection issue, I have around 600 people visited my blog post, with same issue. And they didn't have it ever before.
One more proof that this is not connectivity problem, all this user can search apps from the phone, but they cant install them in most of cases. So connection to server still exist, problem is with showing filtered content of home screen of Play app for some regions/providers.
Thanks to @G1azier post and his solution, I updated my post with US VPN solution that works even if device is not rooted http://viewoneworld.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/google-play-server-error-quick-fix check it out!
It's definetly at Googles end just used a proxy server to kid it I'm in the UK and hey ho works perfectley all apps downloaded and synced

Error 927 Google Play.

I am having some issues with Google Play giving error 927 when updating/downloading apps.

I have faced a similar problem long back.. I have done the below steps to recover..
Uninstall updates for Playstore
Clear data for Downlaod manager
Keep the phone connected to internet and reboot
after reboot wait for couple of minutes so that Playstore update will be installed properly.. Then try updating your apps..
I've tried everything
I have tried evey solution that I could possible find to try and stop getting error 927. It's definitly linked to my google account/gmail. When I create a new gmail, everything works fine. Problem is all of my purchased apps are attached to gmail with 927 error. Someone please help. I'm desperate!!!! I have Verizon Galaxy S4. Doesn't matter what I wipe, if I'm rooted or not, or if I try using my account on my wife's S4... All give me error 927!!!

What version of the play store are you running? Also, do you have the background restricted for the play store?
Try the newest Play Store if yours is not up to date. I remember the issue in my S4 and newest version solved it after wiping data and install update.

Yes its the same account I've had going all the way back to the first Android phone. It has gotten better. I ODIn'ed back from a 4.4.2 ROM to a custom 4.3 ROM and my market works most of the time. When it starts actign up I usually have to clear data/wipe caches, restart and wait a bit for it to resync my account. Kind of a pain, but working most of the time is better than none of the time.

How are the Play store on the web working for you when signed in with the account you are having issues with. For me I have trouble loading in anything @all. Especially the top list, and my purchases.
I believe there are issues with older accounts that did not get updated/patched with new settings after ICS update, or the 3.0+ update of their store when it became Play Store and not Android market. When I use my other account all is ok, but there I have no purchased apps.
If you want you can find the 2.3.6 version of Market and replace the Play store and you will find that all issues are gone. Now I use Legazy Play store witch can be used together with normal play. Just need to push it to system/apps on 4.3 or system/priv-apps on 4.4.
Use all this advise at own risk.

Anyone have any luck with this/ age of Gmail accounts?
I just recently started having this issue on a stock GS4A on at&t. Maybe a week ago could not get updates and wrote it off as a busy server then realized this weekend I could not get anything new.
I tried every fix I could find on the forums and even a fix that the 2nd tier Google tech suggested (no different from the forum fixes other than including turning the automatic date/time on and off). Every method was a band-aid at best: one or two apps can come through before I get the 927 error or the DF-BPA-30 error. At least the error codes are consistent...
I honestly think this is related to the age of my account. I have had a Gmail account since 2007 or so when I believe it was still in beta. I am surmising that older accounts are on an older server or something that is having issues. I made two dummy accounts and could download anything I wanted, so there is nothing wrong with my handset or connections. The temporary work-around I am using is adding a secondary gmail account and adding any apps through it, while still using primary for mail, contacts, and calendar. I am not a heavy user, so it works, but I should not have to patch it together like this!
So- anyone who is getting this error; how long have you been a Google user? Anyone else tried "old vs new" for a cause of the error?
When I replied to the 2nd tier tech I told him his method did not work, but asked to look into the account itself. I'll update if I have anything to say.

Ask to get your case transferred to apps division. There I got real help. They are really good. And have helped me a lot.
There are two possible methods to solve error 927 on android:
Method 1:
Go to settings>>”All”>>Select “Google Play Store”
Now Force Stop>>Clear Data>>Clear Cache
Now again try downloading or updating the app
If the above didn’t work, go to settings>>”All”>>Select “Google Play Store”>>Uninstall Updates
Again, from “All”>> Select “Download Manager”>>Clear Data and Cache
Rerun Google Play Store and install/update your app or game
Method 2:
Go to system settings>> Accounts>>Google>>remove your Gmail account
Now from settings>>Apps>>All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager (like in method 1)
Now again go to settings>> Accounts>>Google>>Add your gmail account
Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings
Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.
How to Fix Error 927 in Android
Free Some Space on your device
Clear data and cache files of Google Play Store
Stop or Uninstall Google Play Store (Updates)
Add New Gmail Account
Hope it helped you....
Try the methods below
Free some space on your device
Clear data and cache in Google Play Store
Add new Google account
Uninstall updates of Google Play store
It is the most annoying issue facing by many Android users, that occurs when you download or update any games and apps from the Google play store. But for me, this error solved by the just clear cache.

How to fix Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped

Hi everyone, Just wanted to post this as I have found it to be useful for me.
I am sure some of you have seen this issue before or are experiencing it now. I have included a link to the youtube video.
what is the issue?
Recently after downloading the newest play store I started seeing an error message about unfortunately the process gapps has stopped working .
this was happening whenever i tried to add an account and when opening some of my apps including the browser and play store
.
it was annoying me but it would go away and the app would immediately open for me after so it was not that big of a problem.
I tried to solve the problem first by uninstalling updates to the play store in application manager
,
then by flashing roms and factory resetting
, however this did not help at all.
l
. finally last night at work my phone had three random reboots . my phone has never done that before
. I searched on google and found a very easy fix and once again my phone is like new
.
the fix.
settings/ application manager/scroll to left until you reach the all applications screen/ touch menu screen left of the home button/ reset app preferences.
here is the youtube link
. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt_alKha_-s
it sometimes work, even uninstalling the updates and reinstalling works but is random
Thanks
What does kill us, it hurts
I am having this problem right now. Except not only am I getting that error I am getting mutlple services that have stopped as well as background apps.
I have tried everything except a factory re-boot. I haven been on the phone with Verizon and Motorola Level 2 tech support and no one could help me.
I'm at my wits end. I don't want to reset the phone because i have a lot of pics that are not backed up.
Additionally it seems that a phone reset is not a guarantee...
This worked for me. Thank you!
Thanks

.Cheers Bloke that worked a treat.
Sadly not working on my note 2 syncing google account.
Whilst trying to sync the two calendars from the note (4.1.2) to my Nexus 10 (4.4). Nexus is sending out and note is receiving (also to pc) but nothing is being released from the note
As well as above I have seen a "fix" being disable - re enable download manager in apps. Also a no go.
I've been seeing this pop up on odd occasions during the last month or so but not caused an issue with the activity at that time.
Cheers in advance

None of these worked for me. I tried cleaning the cache etc as mentioned and removing the google account but nothing. I've restarted, powered down and pulled the battery but nothing has changed, I still get the gapps message along with play store, gmail, hangouts etc.
I'm running stock 4.3 on a rooted I9305 S3. Everything was fine until I tried a bit of a cleanup with Android Tuner Pro's quick optimization and clean p. After the restart the pop ups came and then it had a progress bar saying - linking to sd - which sat at 0% and never moved. I'd selected optimize apps loading, database access, fix permissions, clean memory and updated system apps, trim all partitions and clear caches.
Any suggestions? I had massive problems trying to install 4.3 when my titanium backup messed up some settings and I had to do another full factory wipe and manually install ALL my apps and settings, taking around 4-6 hours!
I wish I'd stuck to System Tuner Pro and hadn't touched the new version

OHHHHHH THANK YOU.
I rooted and than frooze the wrong system app. Like I should get use to that or STOP freezing the wrong apps. HUH?
You Saved me from throwing this here new LG F6. ( I may have tried to restore it first, more than likely.) LOL!
It did same me from that every 4 second Error. I had to do the hit the OK on the Error and do the Settings > hit the OK on the Error> then tic the Apps> hit the OK on the Error than tick the All > hit the OK on the Error than tic the bottom Right droid control > hit the OK on the Error Reset Applications ........ with the Error poping up ever 3 seconds.
wow was that a bit o fun!
Had this F6 18 hours so far ,you saved me a bunch of Re-flashing Stock ROM ....... "stuff." :good:
Woe them tricky corporate devs. Even tho we bought the "phone" they want to rule it any way they can.
Thank you!
Galaxy Note cannot download
Activat said:
Sadly not working on my note 2 syncing google account.
Whilst trying to sync the two calendars from the note (4.1.2) to my Nexus 10 (4.4). Nexus is sending out and note is receiving (also to pc) but nothing is being released from the note
As well as above I have seen a "fix" being disable - re enable download manager in apps. Also a no go.
I've been seeing this pop up on odd occasions during the last month or so but not caused an issue with the activity at that time.
Cheers in advance
Alan

try this step:
On your Note, goto Settings. Choose Applications. Tap on the All Tab at the top. Locate and tap on the Play Store app. Tap on the Clear Data button. Tap on the OK button to confirm. Tap Clear Cache too
Then if you can see com.google.process.gapps in there, tap it and Clear Data and Cache too. Ignore it if you can't find this process there
Then find and tap the Google Services Framework and Clear Data and Clear Cache. Then restart your Note. Do the same for Browser, Download Manager etc again
Thanks, it worked for me
Thanks a lot dear, after too many trials finally your advice worked. you saved my day.
error message "process com.google.process.gapps, has stopped"
I have tried several methods from different forums/blogs, but all failed to remove this message, which appears repeatedly on my device Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7500) whenever I start browsing on the native browser or the Chrome & not otherwise. There are so many people crying on almost all android related forums for help but nobody from Google/Android owners or even the device manufacturers are speaking up to console these crying people who bought these devices due android fame. If these attitudes continue, I think the Android will vanish as the Symbian in the past. For myself, having found no solution, I have decided to live with it until the device gets a System Update next!
However, if anybody has found a solution, he may plz tell me, too!

Google Play Services stopped responding

Ok so I have been having this issue since I got on 5.1.1 removed my google account (forget the exact reason why) and when I go and try to add it again I keep getting a ”Google pay services has stopped responding” I have cleared data on google services framework, google account manager, google play store, google play service and also google play games just for good measure. When I click add account it goes to a screen and says "Checking info" with a bar going across the screen. Then it stops less then 5 seconds later saying google play services stopped responding. Occasionally when I clear the data on the programs above I will get to a screen that says "just one sec" after the checking info one however it still doesn't work.
I have already tried a factory reset, have cleared everything through fast boot and then reinstalled 5.1.1 its been doing it since I've gotten on 5.1.1 never did this on a custom ROM as well as 5.0.1/5.0.2. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? A lot of things are unusable without a account set up. I'm pretty stumped honestly. Have also tried reinstalling google play services and the play store. I am rooted, custom kernel, TWRP. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

MATE 10 Pro issues with google play store

Got my mate 10 pro with vodafone on Friday. Love the phone. Amazing camera and got a great deal.
Problem is the play store! It stops opening and the only way to fix this is to clear the data on the google play store & google play services.
Is this a known problem? Do I need to wait for an update or should i factory restart. Once it works again after the data is cleared after a very short while it stops opening again. Pressing on the icon simply does nothing.

Hi, this seems to be an individual issue as my Mate 10 Pro works in the Play Store with no problems. Factory reset may be helpful.

try close all wifi and cell data .. then force close the google play store then clear cash and data then disable so it will ask you to reset to old version press yes .
then also do it with google play services .
after that remove your google account email for google , then open the store and re put your google email and i think it will work fine
ended up doing a full reset which was not really fun but hey it worked..

In the battery-section of the settings, there is an option to control if an app can auto-start, be started from a different app and is allowed to keep running in the background. Either you allow the phone to control this automatically, or you can do it manually: the latter possibility is the one I turned on as I wanted to have the control over the apps. Apparently, this was a bad choice as it stopped the apps from getting the information from the internet?
After I switched it back to completely automatic, all apps were working normally again. This is something that Huawei should address as I don't believe this should happen .
This fixed the issue for me.
Thanks!

Yeah. I set Gmail to manual and it stopped receiving emails. Which is weird as it should do the exact same things if you enable all in manual. Switching to manual fixed it.
And another issue is Last pass, it gets killed after a while if Launch is set to auto. I set it to manual and its been kept alive for the whole day.
