Hi All,
Does anybody know if it is possible to disable the the software update feature on the S3 GT-I9300? My phone has just downloaded the new update 26/07/12 and l have managed to find the option to delay the update but not stop the update. l have read that the local search has been removed accidently or on purpose and there is still a chance they will not add it back in on later updates, and l do not want to root my phone just yet to do the work around.

I am also looking to disable the update and I AM rooted.
How can this be done please?
EDIT: I 'froze' the Software Update app so hopefully that will do it.

Software Update is the one you need to freeze....I also froze I another one, but after checking it in TB it is called 'sysscope' pretty sure it was called OTAupdate or something similar!

As far as I know, there isn't one. It was just released as a full ROM for Poland.

Haven`t seen it anywhere myself, don`t think it`s available. Only the full rom.
I need for my friend, When I downloaded the ota directly through the system it should be somewhere on the system, but where

If your friend doesn`t have the same Polish rom as you have, the OTA will probably not be installed.
I just got a system update notice on my LG G2. When I went to the support page, it is "unavailable".
http://www.verizonwireless.com/g2support
Has anyone applied this update?
Do not accept it. Its to patch the root exploit. They did the same to the gs4
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

yea, we won't really know if this is a root exploit patch until someone takes the hit.
Its been confirmed by multiple people that the update does not address root or loki.

Shocking!!! The pitchforks and burning torches that have been raised will have to wait for another day, I suppose.

Good to know since I accidentally accepted it. Then ran to XDA to cry....
Has anyone figured out what this update does?

Yes...it doesn't patch root. If you are rooted and do not have a custom recovery installed. You can accept the update and it does nothing. If you have TWRP installed, you need to flash the stock recovery, accept the update and then flash back to TWRP after.

Why didn't att just play nice and update to V3? Instead they update To V4 so I can't flip flop between t-mobile firmware and there's. Does root still work? On the other hand, I can flash Verizon firmware I guess.

I haven't attempted rooting it, and I won't be. There might be a small chance that it may work but I'm not sure.

Well ... if root doesn't work I know what my next firmware will be. (Tmobile)
I can't root, looks like it's back to the drawing board. It figures this happen as soon as I feel it necessary to root my device......
I advise everyone to not take any OTAs after the first August patch so you can still be able to root and flash roms. It isn't a problem for me since I wasn't planning on rooting this phone again anyways..

Pretty sure the eng boot will still work on the new BL, just no old ROMs. :^)
MFW just read those posts above me.

@raremind couldn't root on BL4. It's unfortunate how we can't root on API2, but if the developers are willing to find out a new way to gain root access on API2, then it wouldn't be the end of the world for anyone who wants the latest OTA but still want root.

I took the OTA to get the latest version, so unfortunately I don't have the actual firmware link.

Yeahhh, thought I'd give it a go
G930U firmware was just updated to API3 which has the incremented bootloader, so the individuals who updated to the latest AT&T firmware can use U firmware now. :victory:
EDIT: Here is @joe3681 's thread that has the download to the firmware.

Guess we'll have to hope that someone can grab it and create a zip to flash.
I have the "dlpkgfile" file from /cache/fota
Who wants it?
