Depends on preference. I've used several 4.4.2 roms on my og and yet i keep going back to stock(had a few issues with ingress on some of them, others with gaming in general). Beanstalk is a pretty good rom though. I've also heard good things about PA rom. If you wanna try stock, the E975 port has some nice goodies added. Personally i like the snowJB v1.1 jellybean port. The rom may be old but it is rock solid and has good gaming performance.

Well, LG will update the OG this summer, but it will probably take a while. In the meantime you oculd stay with mokee without updating, use beanstalk, slimkat, carbon or psx. I liked the performance of psx, it is a very slim rom.

Actually i annoyed from mokee rom, they are giving updates evsry week without providing any changelog. So i thought to move and try other roms, which are stable, with no issue and of course a peaceful experience. Thanks again for your support sir.
Firstly I'll apologise for making such a thread. Every developer gives their best to make their ROMs, but then there are normal people like me, who doesn't know anything about ROM development :3 if our phones get bricked, we're screwed. This is why I'm creating this thread. Comment away! Thanks in advance
This is why we say do some reading before jumping into flashing and try new things.
I suppose you may not be familiar.
I would have given you a long descriptive answer but I think that will break the essence of testing and some ethics of rom development possibly.
I would say - Start reading the development threads initial posts and try them out. They're quite helpful in finding out how stable it may or may not be.
On the lighter side of it : Ashwin's CM13 or Temasek's CM based ROM might be your best bet.... But like I said earlier there are other ROMS as well.

What is more stable, Ashiwn's or Temasek's CM13?
I planned to ask a similar question about what ROM is least buggy so I can use it as daily driver. (I'm most of my time with no internet away from home)
This weekend I spend most of the time reading those topics of the ROMs and haven't decided which one to flash.

i'd say ashwins, have used both and for now, ashwins has 0 bugs (FOR ME) people are complaining about background noise in calls, they hear the people behind yu as clear as you self etc.etc. but yeah, now you have my opinion.
Hit that Thanks if it deserves it.
for me ashwins is the best also and i have tried most of them.
For me (only my opinion), stock oss is best. Although i hear complaints, personally i don't have any issues. It has been my daily driver since xmas i bought this phone.
Really depends. I recommend you give both AOKP and AOSParadox a try. Both great ROMs.
There really isn't a best.... It depends on ehi you are and how you use your device
Loving the color os experience.. Tried almost all the MM roms available for opx but came back to LP as it is more stable for my daily driver. I need Bluetooth which is better in cm 12.1.
Color os has gr8 battery life and loads of customization... Installation is little tricky though.

If u want smoothness !
After installing gapps and other daily apps , I faced lags in all ROMs except
Purity ROM built 8/4(MM)
Cm12.1 built 11 (LL)
With ecofix!
Acc to me these are the stablest for me !
I use xposed heavily .
I was a bit disappointed after OOS 2.2.1 because Bluetooth is not fix. But after reading this thread, I would more install a third-party app instead of flashing another ROM. OK OOS is not perfect and has less customization than Cyanogen but stability and good camera is a must-have for me. Now, I never flashed my OPX.
Exodus bcoz it use layer + opendelta (no need to fladh full zip when update come) + nightly!

Is ashwins being actively developed? In the thread it's seems stagnant and no updates in the changelog for a while.
mokee coz of aegis (+ the rom is rock stable & smooth)
CrDroid with Blue Spark Kernel. Almost no bugs , pure AOSP experience. Cyanogen Tweaks. The way an Android is meant to be IMO
MoKee has been pretty good to me, and Aegis is an insane battery saver. I don't like to have too much bloat when it comes to Xposed and such so having just one great saver is awesome.
I do want to try out other ROMs though, and ColorOS might be my next stop.

There are so much Custom ROMS for Redmi Note 3[QC] . But all of those are much similar to each another there's nothing new in there, not even any unique features. SO THIS IS A REQUEST TO DEVELOPERS TO PLEASE MAKE SOMETHING NEW & UNIQUE. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WANT THIS, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE
PLUS I MUST SAY ONE THING THE JOB THAT DEVS ARE DOING FOR US I MEAN LIKE PORTING ROMS AND KERNELS, MAKING NEW MODS, FIXING BUGS(WHICH IS REALLY TOUGH) ETC. WITHOUT BEING PAID FOR THEIR TERRIFIC WORK. THAT'S JUST AWESOME AND I AM VERY THANKFUL TO THEM ALL .
And meanwhile if anyone can suggest me a good custom ROM for our Beast RN3[QC] . That would be very thankful:angel::highfive::good:.
Thanx in Advance.
Developers make their rom in their free time without being paid so its really not respectful to demand more when someone is giving you something for free. There are lots of roms for redmi note 3 that you can try many cm based roms, miui roms many custom kernels i havn't tried all of them but its a good thing that so much development happens here.
Now a days You can pretty much add any feature you like to a rom with xposed. So when a dev makes a nice smooth rom be greatful and enjoy what you got for free

There's no such thing as "best rom". Intresting to see peoples comments on various roms though.
I'm currently on bliss, and it's f-ing awesome, especialy paired with arcus for theaming joy.
RR 5.7.0 and 5.7.1 have the -2% or 50% battery bug, both of them.
I tested in 2 units RedMi Note 3 Pro SnapDragon 3GB 32GB and both of them show the same behavior with ResurrectionRemix 5.7.0 and 5.7.1:
After rebooting for first time battery is stuck in -2% or 50%. Otherwise the phone works well, battery actually charges.
If you are luck you will get the 50% instance of the issue, that only results in the uncertainty of "how much juice do I have left?".
If you get the -2%, additionally to the uncertainty, you will have all the annoyances related to the phone thinking it has no-juice: popups, no flash, etc...
If you can live with those, RR is fine and stable.

I agree with you. All of the roms are the same. Even mooke isn't much different from CM these days. DU is just a copy of RR. All of them are the same, nothing unique.
I also would like to see something amazing.

If you want something different you can try flymeos from Meizu. They create official flyme for redmi note 3 snapdragon.

Still beta but ok for daily usage. Imo, quite bloated but its UI is smoother than MIUI, fp work, IR blaster work, gps lock fast, battery comparable with cm/miui.
Minus are a little animations glitch, some not translate to English.

Hey, so I've seen a lot of people talking about how good XX ROM is and it's better than YY because of something. Also another problem being the question of best ROM.
I'd like to say something: Everyone has their own thinking and point of view, so something's that's not important to you might be imporrtant to someone else, so making judgements like this is better than that is all dependant from person to person. We all know that no two mind think alike. These types of questions discourage developers so please it's my humble request to not post / compare ROMs calling them bad / good. If you don't like a feature then don't use it. Same goes for the ROM. If you can help improve then you most probably can via github or gerrit as some ROMs provide. With that being said. Thanksfor the time to read this post.
I kind of agree. I much prefer to see descriptions with a list of pros and cons rather than a simple "this ROM is better because I like these aspects"

Going to give it ago again tonight... I week or so ago I tried it and had very odd behaviors. Likely just a bad flash (sounds odd, but it does happen) and went back to Oxygen... is there any differences between the UNOFFICIAL and OFFICIAL builds?
How is it that even a thread specifically made to tell people not to ask questions about which rom is best, turns into a rom advice thread.

mm don't know if there is a difference, there is not much out there, i'm using official , last stable, only negative, are random crash apps, most of all google apps... and have to reboot, but the battery life is very very good.
Won't make a separate thread for this but I'll ask here - what are 2-4 most popular ROMs for the OP2 going around nowadays? I've been using Exodus ROM for a long time and I really liked it, but the latest update was November 11th and it looks like the developers have moved on. The ROM is fine, and there's really nothing that I'm missing, but there are some stability issues with random reboots and force close and this is the longest I've gone without updating/changing something so I'm looking to try something new. I want to look into a few different options and read others' reviews and look into features and stuff, but it would be great if you guys could narrow down my search to the few most popular/well known/most supported roms that are currently available.

What is the best marshmallow ROM other than Oxygen..?!
Can anyone help me to choose between AEX and Slim?
What is your reason why I should choose (it)?
What about performance and battery?
Does Slim use a small update? Not one full ROM?
Or can you convince me to go with another ROM? And what is your reason for that?
Actually I wait DU / Los-Official but for DU is very difficult. And I hope that Los will soon get Official.
On the other hand, I am very happy with the return of PA and,or GzR_Family. However I see it does not get Official.
Why do I see Official? Because to me that Official is a very convincing development to use. I do not like to move from one to another with fast time.
What about DU? From the first I was so confident with DU. However I do not expect much for other developers who have been busy.
Thanks for your attention, forgive me with language, purpose, and more.

I went through the process you are going through now, trying to decide which custom ROM to move to.
After drawing up a shortlist, I tried Slim 2 days ago. Slim was perfectly fine. Battery performance seemed better than MultiPro 8.2.5.0 (MM) which I had been using. I installed OctOS yesterday. There is much similarity between OctOS and Slim, but I find OctOS more to my liking (for one, it is not so "slim" as Slim, which IMHO, was too minimalistic - but of course, that it how it got its name). I am still testing OctOS, and will give it another day or two.
From my brief experience with both, each of them is pretty good, fluid, etc. I could not see much objective difference, and I do not think that one is "better" than the other - much depends on individual preferences relating to "eye candy" (ie, the "look and feel" of the ROM). If OctOS passes all the tests of what I need, I will probably stay with it. But I do have a full nandroid backup of Slim, in case I change my mind.
The reason I abandoned MIUI is because of my concerns that various things in MIUI might be "phoning home". I will not return to MIUI. So, for me, it is Slim or OctOS. In my view, the core OS in AOSP and LOS based ROMs is not going to be very different. The rest is about eye candy. I don't think I will test any other custom ROM (life is too short ...).

Ohh..Thanks a lot of time you spend.
In your experience above, I see you are not talking about AEX? Why it? Have you not tried yet?
With respect to Oct-os, I think my choice still falls to Slim, helped by your summary above. Because I'm not too close to (sort of Octos, AIM, DnD, and some others). For base Los, I prefer Mokee or Aicp and last RR (I never tried for this). And I've been using Aokp for a long time. However, all ROMs are on the basis of Los, I am not satisfied because Kernel-3rd is not available yet. I do not know since when I rely heavily on (dt2w and kcal).
Finally, I would be very happy if in the next two days, you will describe your experience with Octos.

Why do not you talk about RR? With many features available? And I think there are many users here using RR?
Not yet any rock solid stable AOSP rom for our mido. All of them have some quirks here and there. I've tried RR, Lineage OS, Slim, Paranoid, AEX and XOSP. Slim is the best for me. It's so clean and minimalistic. When all bugs get squashed, it will be the perfect choice. Of course ymmv.
@vyvy I have not tried AEX. It did not make my shortlist (which was Halogen, Legend, OctOS, Slim, and Viper). I am sure that it is perfectly fine - it just didn't make my shortlist (the problem is too many ROMs to choose from - this is a very good problem). As I said, Slim is perfectly fine. It met all my requirements (after my own favorite 3rd party apps were installed) - which is why I have kept a full nandroid backup of it.
I have had plenty of time to test OctOS. It also meets all my requirements after all my favorite apps were installed. The final test was hands-free bluetooth phone calls in my car. I believe I will stay with OctOS.
@mirosz Unfortunately, I am unable to make a list of what was missing in Slim, because I did not keep records. As far as I can remember, there was no feature that was missing - just one or two apps that I expected to find in a custom ROM (which TBH, I cannot remember what they were). It was not a big problem, and I would have happily stayed with Slim. However, I decided to try another one on my shortlist, which was OctOS. And I do like it more.
BTW, in all my ROMs, I always replace the default launcher with Nova ...

Well, there is this 3rd-party kernel.

Okay, thanks brother. I will try Slim first.
To be honest I only have one phone, and the only thing to do every day, even when I work. Of course I will be careful in choosing, because I also do not really like MIUI, I can not write more details, that's just the fact that.
Yes, brother. I read the comment there that the kernel is for now only support for AOSP-based ROM. I will follow it, and hopefully the future will be many more, available kernels

Lastly I use CAF base, it's with Citrus and Halogen.I think you are right to say so. I'm sorry, but for now, I'm not ready to try it it's because, i see some CAF base ROM is not too many users, and i think for bugs and patching will be very slow.

Then how are the two? AEX and Slim? Can you convince me to move to Slim?

I have experienced longer boot times and occasional lags on AEX. Slim is fast and fluid for me. It is for people who just want a clean and empty rom with few carefully selected extra additions. It's not for RR lovers that desire every extra functionality.

Xperience is super smooth, one of the best among all the custom roms that I have tried.
The only gripe that I had with it was that fingerprint scanner did not work for me. I'm accustomed to waking up the device using the scanner so it became a deal-breaker for me.
Based on recommendations in this thread, I'm trying out OctOS and liking it a lot. It is definitely smoother than RR and AEX. The other rom that I really liked was Legend. Its pretty good and stable in terms of performance.
After a week with OctOS, I have moved back to Slim. The main reason is that Slim seems to have much better battery performance during idle/sleep time (SOT is not too different). But there is another reason - issues with WhatsApp notifications when using OctOS (messages not being received until I actually open WhatsApp) - installing an app "PNF Root" helped somewhat, but things were still erratic and unpredictable. This second reason may just be my own isolated experience, because I have not yet seem any other OctOS user complaining about this problem. However, for me, it was a real pain in the backside. So, I think I will now stay with Slim.
Yeah!
