Im sure everyone in the UK and likely world are hassled weekly (daily) for PPI and other random junk by automated calls. "Please press 5 and someone will call you back ... "
Unable to develop myself but came here to see if an idea is even possible and if someone could pick up and design an application.
Could an application pick up unknown calls and act like a simple IVR to screen out automated calls? this would reduce mobile call spam for a large majority when blanket unknown blocking isnt appropriate.
Scenario
Phone rings from unknown caller
Application answers with pre recorded message "Unknown caller, please press 32 to be connected"
If correct numbers pressed, phone will physically ring
Otherwise app ends call
This would only delay unknown calls so friends and family would not be intercepted by app.

Hello, I have a question here,
Got marshmallow running on my HTC One m8.
There is no silent mode anymore as in no sound and no vibration. What's there now is the do not disturb feature which basically does the same. But Accidentally I had it set to accept calls only from contacts.
What I can not find out now is, does this actually and actively block and deny any calls of unknown numbers without logging them or showing in any way that this person tried to call me, or does it just not show full screen call notification when I receive a call of unknown numbers?
Hope someone can shed a light on this.

Hi! Google replaced Do Not Disturb feature with Silent in Lollipop 5.0 and it was reported that they will bring Silent back at a later stage. Anyways, the Do Not Disturb feature in Android phones does not decline calls automatically like iPhone's Do Not Disturb, it only silents your phone and if you have selected 'Contacts Only' then it will only ring if someone from your contacts call you otherwise it will remain silent and notify you of the call or text (or whatever) and your screen will turn on while a call is being received.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU!
Okay thanks! Was worried I'll miss calls or something.
I tried it out in the meantime, asked a friend whose number I don't have to call me. I didn't ring loud regardless whether I set accept all calls, or contacts only. It rung silently but the call came through in both cases.
Hi all!
I noted that when I call someone, and that someone is in a call (has call waiting), my Mate 10 Pro is not telling me that information, just writing dialling or ringing (I don't remember correctly right now).
All my previous Android phones have noted me with something like "other line is in a call waiting", but this Huawei doesn't.
Is this a case only with my phone or others have the same problem too?
No one?
Just switched from windows phone to android and I'm having problems with my outgoing caller i.d not working
I've checked in the appropriate settings and made sure that sending my own number is checked, but it doesn't work. The phone is a Nokia 7 plus running the latest stock version of android.
The problem is that I have elderly relative who have their phones set to automatically block incoming calls that are private/blocked numbers, so I can't call them from my mobile.
I tried everything I can think of to no avail. If call my home number it displays as "no number" instead of "private number" which is what it would usually show for a purposely blocked incoming number. Thanks for any help
