Rooted before update or after?
I have an updated device, any idea on how to root it?

Arobase40 said:
I guess @thilina01 said if your device was rooted before it should remain rooted after the upgrade to MM...
I can't say for sure as I'm still awaiting after the Official MM firmware for the KIW-L21...
If not, you'll need to root it again using TWRP as usual.
With MM, you may also have to flash a newer Xposed framework specifically designed for MM. ^^

So i can flash the normal twrp.img which i was using for emui 3.1 on emui 4.0, then apply super su.zip as normal?
I think i would need a MM ready twrp am i right?

Like @Arobase40 said it was rooted before updating to 4.0 and yes the root is still there.
By that, I assume flashing the normal root files will make it rooted. But I am not sure because I had not to flash it on 4.0 because I inherited it from emui 3 to 4.
Anyway, I didn't flash TWRP, just booted into it using fastboot and flashed root.
So, I still have stock recovery.
It was rooted, edit build.prop for hiding navigation bar, edit hosts file for disabling adverts.
After that all, I was able to update to 4.0 without any problems as it was on stock recovery.

[Q] UPDATE

Hallo.... Guys, new android updates are coming. After root its not possible to get OTA update. What is the plan ? i mean, this thread its going to be about the ways how to update our beloved ZOOM to the newest firmware.
QUESTIONS ARE:
It is someone going to work on root for 4.3 - 4.4 ?
It is better to "stay" on stock firmware ?
How its possible (where to download) to flash the stock ? (unrooted)

Nothing. You already installed the newest Knox Bootloader included with the Firmware and it can not be downgraded. If you do downgrade the Bootloader you will brick your phone. You can flash "ROMS" ( not Firmwares ) all you like from previous builds meaning you can flash a Custom 4.2.2 Rom but you can not downgrade the newest Knox Bootloader you installed.

Really?
I have now the TPH beta installed, but is only a beta, and i really want to return in 4.2.2 firmware, that's absolutely a s*it.
So can't donwgrade with or without root, cannot downgrade bootloader, nothing to return to stock 4.2.2?
All the lag from 4.2 just isn't worth going back. I had to go back to my iPhone 5S until the 4.4.2 came out. Now I'm on 4.4.2 and back on my android and loving it. Never want to go back to the iPhone again.

No!! he can't use odin to flash a 4.2.2 firmware because he flash the 4.4.2 kk firmware with the new knox bootloader if he try to flash an older firmware he will brick his phone. @corrystile you can use the MegaFire v11 to go back to jellybean 4.2.2 thanks to @megalomanic14 this is a TW base rom and it work on both 19200 and 19205.

This would probably only work if you were still able to get into " Download Mode " on your phone.
Bricked but download mode good
Ok so I tried this and nothing will boot up now. Was the 4.2.2 a custom rom or stock ? I have a replacement screen that cant boot into firmware 4.3 or 4.4.

A work around for the cheap screen issue booting on stock 4.3 and 4.4 is to flash phils recovery and root followed by a zip install of a custom 4.4 rom. Boots right up . Also with custom recovery I have backed up stock 4.2 firmware on a diff. mega and used that to restore on my 4.4 mega. Not a true downgrade but bootable into stock rom. Took me a long while to figure this out. Hope this helps.

Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
Do you mean boot ? If so ; I removed battery to power off, then put it back , then hold volume down and home button and power at the same time to get into download mode. Then used Odin to flash custom recovery. I used Phils recovery. My issue began when I allowed 4.3 OTA update. I lost boot and stock recovery but could still get into download mode.

¿How to enter in recovery mode?

After flashing the last german rom 6.0.1 with xperifirm, I am not able to enter the recovery mode. I followed all the tutorials, all possible combinations with the keys, all programs (with and without root), etc.
Any ideas?
As far as I know, you flashed with ftf rom, which wiped thoroughly custom recovery. You need to revert to 4.4 kitkat, root it, get custom recovery, than flash it with android 6.0, but only using flashable prerooted rom in zip file with custom recovery

Use build number 314. It is available on XperiFirm. Use XZDR .21 to install the Xperia Z Dual Recovery. It will temporarily root with TowelRoot to be able to installa the recovery. After the installation the phone will reboot; now you have 2 choices: Install the SuperSU .zip to keep root on KitKat or directly install a Marshmallow ROM

I want to flash to CM13 but I am at Lollipop and rooted with TWRP

I saw a same thread but i am using KII-L22
what should i do first? i think i had a backup where i am still unrooted but already have TWRP.
my guess is that I should reflash to stock recovery first then update via OTA to marsh mallow then root and install TWRP again then flash CM13.
if my guess is correct then how do I revert from TWRP to stock recovery?

Do you have a firmware online on Huawei website or in 5X file repository.
If yes, just use huawei update extractor to extract stock recovery.img from it.

Just google huawei firmware finder by team MT, install and I am sure you can use it to search a lollipop firmware for your phone.
If you want to install MM directly then get MM firmware, extract recovery, flash it and use three button method to update.
You will lose all your data in this way.

I have a similar problem here: I have an unlocked and rooted KIW-L21C432 with Resurrection Remix installed and a backup (B140 firmware version) where I already have TWRP installed as the recovery but am not rooted yet. I want to go back to stock in order to be able ro get the OTA for MM and then install the most recent Resurrection Remix ROM.

So, what would be the procedure for me?
Flash the (unrooted) B140 backup using TWRP.
Use fastboot to flash the correct stock recovery from the honor 5X file depot issueing:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
.
Upgrade to the most recent firmware version B340 via OTA update.
Flash most recent TWRP version using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
.
Root and flash CustomROM.
Is this correct? Is there any smarter way to achieve the official update to MM (like those full revert packages I read about)?
What if my backup was rooted already? Would this lead to any problems? I am not 100% sure whether I was maybe already rooted when I did the initial backup :/
Thanks and best regards

How exaxtly can I tell? It was rooted when I was still on 5.1.1 (firmware version B140), so I'm not sure whether it's systemless root or not.
Then flash full B330:
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=90763&version=354362&siteCode=fr-h
Put the (uncompressed) DLOAD folder at the root of your SD Card.
Power up the phone with Vol up & vol down pressed, then release once you show the logo, it will automatically flash the rom.
Once done, you are on stock unrooted B330, then you can boot/flash TWRP, then finally flash CM13.
