[Q] Galaxy Note II LTE locked to carrier

We were given a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE by one of our customers. But we can't use it, as it is apparently locked to their mobile company, so it can't use a sim card for danish carriers.
I am told that the only way to fix this, is to root the phone. But what is needed and how do I do this? I don't need any extra features at all, just the lock removed.
I hope someone can help.

Ok, so im on sprint, have a note edge. My work phone is att. Can I just swap the sim in my s4 active into a att gear s and not have the phone anymore? I never use it, its turned off and forwarded to my sprint phone.

Yes, it's that simple. You may have to cut your Sim down to nano size.... But that's about it. Use the S4 to do the initial set it up and install any apps, but once you move the Sim to the S, it will do all the functions you need to be a standalone device... And carry one less phone.
For me, not having to always carry and worry about 2 phones, has been great!!!
Good luck
Sweet! Ill get rid of this verizon model and get an att or unlocked one.
Thanks
sorry I'm confused by that - can you elaborate?
note edge + work phone + S4 active + Gear S = 4 phones?
kill the S4 active, put the sim in the gear S and use that with the note edge - now = 2 or 3 phones ??
optimum number of bikes = n+1 where n is the number you currently own
optimum number of phones / devices = n-1 where n is the number you currently own
thanks
Ill only have the edge and gear s. Edge is my personal phone, gear has my work phone sim in it.

Not confusing at all
OP has a personal Note Edge on Sprint. A work phone (S4 Active) on AT&T. And currently a Verizon Gear S watch. So, he is going to ditch both the S4 Active and Verizon Gear S and purchase a new Gear S to use his S4 mini's SIM card.
There isn't any unlocked Gear S for sale that will work with US carriers with the exception of Canada models (but those are rare). International versions won't work in US at all. So, your only choice is AT&T or T-Mobile version. Since T-Mobile version is locked (and not easy to get an unlock code) and costs more than AT&T version, it seems a no brainer that only AT&T version fits bill.

I was able to unlock my AT&T Gear S by buying it off contract and asking AT&T for the unlock code. I'm a customer of them so I don't know if that helped.
