Debranding question - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Alright this may be a dumb question but I saw a post on here telling how to go about debranding my G5 (By dialing ##Brand#) and I'm not very familiar with debranding... so just a few questions.
1. Will it wipe my phone?
2. Will it allow me to change the APN settings that sprint locked?
3. Will it impact my unlock in anyway?
again sorry I know these are probably very dumb questions... but thanks in advance!

No to all of those. It doesn't really do anything except reset your carrier settings... kind of stupid

Updating after debrand
Hello all.
maybe this question has already been
but...
After debrand phone (uploading pure firmware), I know the OTA updates do not work.
Can I upgrade my phone via the LG Bridge?
Or do I have to do it manually via LG UP ??

I had the H850 model with vodafone brand and i debranded it (flash the international stock rom with lg bridge & everything is wiped so make a lg full backup). I still get OTA with the stock rom.
I'm on V10i with September security patch.

Yes i debranded it because the vodafone booting animation. I also get rid of the pre-installed apps. Now when i start the phone, only the lg boot animation comes.

OK I uderstand that
I know how and what for do debrand
but
I'm only worried that after debrand my phone and update again (for example LG Bridge) the brand will return. (after updating)
Am I right?

Which model do you have? After i flash the stock rom with lg bridge i got a ota update notification and i updated my phone to v10h. After a few weeks i got other update to v10i. The boot animation never came back again. I don't think the brand will return. It would return if you flash a branded stock rom...

You're welcome.

You still got a Vodafone firmware. Because 262-02 mmc code is for this operator. But U don't have a boot logo.
A had a same situation with my Lg G4 after update to newest version the boot logo lost.
So this mean U lost the stock rom.

I had my phone rooted with TWRP and bootloader unlocked.
I had to unroot by flashing the firmware RS98811c_00_ARB01.kdz from lg-firmwares.com/lg-rs988-firmwares/.
Then I relocked the bootloader, perform the OTA updates to 11d then once more to Nougat. The encryption was incorrect and locked me out of the phone, but then I was able to simply factory reset right into Nougat.
Make sure you do your SD card decryption and proper backup before doing ANY of this.

Based on your model number, it looks like you might've bought yours factory unlocked? If in correct you should've already received the OTA, if you bought if from another carrier besides sprint I would contact the carrier on pushing out the OTA update to you,

Huh, weird. That never happened to me. I just updated my phone using LG Bridge on PC since I wasn't getting any updates without it. There was this moment when it started doing the update again by itself after finishing. I closed the LG Bridge tool on my PC and let my phone boot normally.

Very sorry for not replying in many months. I forgot I even had this post. Yes, I am very much satisfied with the performance in Android 7.0. It's much better than Android 6.0. Sadly, I discovered that this phone doesn't have a recovery and flashing firmware on it is near impossible. Maybe a thourough Google search could find the answer to your problem. You could try the LG Bridge program on your computer to find and install the update.

Even I didn't get any notification for update at first. Since updating the phone manually is not an option (it doesn't have recovery), the only thing you can try is downloading the LG Bridge App from LG's website for Windows, plug in your phone into your windows computer and choose the software update option on the LG Bridge program. Then keep your phone plugged in and let it update if an update is found by the Windows LG Bridge app.
thanks for replay @SirGarmaples
I mean "manually" refer to Flash phone with official .KDZ file...
my Internet connection was very very very slow (40-60 Kbps) cant use LG Bridge... Unless I get KDZ file to software (LG Bridge) in some way
is this doable (import .KDZ file manually to LG Bridge)? any one of XDA-Developer users worked on it?
sorry for my bad english...

Even for .kdz file, you'll need to download that too. I don't see the benefit of not using LG Bridge tool for updating. Both ways, you'll need to download the file so there's no point. I do not know of any way of flashing .kdz file onto this phone. There's literally no support for our phone on XDA. You can update your phone using other faster wifi or connection or leave the computer to do the thing overnight. Look at this thread, this can help you. https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/uppercut-lgup-loader-g5-variants-t3511295 I'm not responsible for any damage or loss to your phone. Please don't do anything to your phone if you don't know what it is or how to do it.

I have frp off but it's setup. Should i factory reset before trying to flash to u1 or does it not matter? I tried rb7 but it failed. Also i noticed while trying to flash it didn't load ap very well. Normally it freezes for a sec while verifying but it instantly added. Maybe a bad download? I'm downloading rbg now which is an md5 so maybe that was an issue before because the rb7 wasn't. I'll see if that works. Just a lil worried about going to a version 1 bootloader from version 2 as i read that wasn't possible. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the help

Flashing u1 roms aren't working. Tried several times with different cables etc... Odin fail, (auth) complete write fail. I think I'm stuck til this gets a real solution or unlocked rom gets bootloader v2 or becomes unlockable then maybe it'll work? If anyone comes up with a solution please post. Thanks

Oh you on V2 bootloader, well you are stuck on it because U1 is on V1. Currently only T-Mobile and AT&T have V2 firmware out so you can try flashing in between.
Am on U firmware 2ARD3 but am pure stock without carrier bloatware.
What are you trying to achieve with the T-Mobile userdata?

I have the same question as OP. What would I accomplish by flashing the T-Mobile V2 U firmware as opposed to the most recent U1? Is there anything I can't manually enable while staying on unlocked? I don't want to go to the V2 bootloader if I don't have to for the time being, at least until we see an unlocked V2 version.

The U1 is pure stock, I personally would stay on it..
The carrier U firmware are just full of bloatware and also contains the userdata for that specific carrier so that some features work properly like voice over LTE etc. If that doesn't bother you then stay on your version because there isn't any V2 bootloader for the U1 firmware

I definitely want those features, is there a way to enable them while on U1? I don't want bloat, but to my understand T-Mobile's bloat isn't too bad.

Well you can flash the T-Mobile userdata file from the U firmware onto your U1 and get the features. As to the bloatware you can disable most of them with bk package disabler :fingers-crossed:

Well I assume you already running the U1 firmware, so you only need to flash the userdata from the U firmware.
Use the userdata from the V1 firmware for T-Mobile, use modded Odin and flash the userdata and you should have T-Mobile features :good:

I'm a T-Mobile post paid with unlimited everything but mainly wifi calling in areas where reception isn't great is pretty important. Also would like direct video, HD vice, and especially VoLte working. Since all the carrier software is in the user data I just want to have the T-Mobile in place of the att. Phone works well otherwise and I can live with it the way it is for a bit til it gets sorted out. But hopefully there will be an unlocked v2 firmware soon that will flash. Or bootloader unlock!

You did not flash the T-Mobile firmware including the CSC and userdata because your device suppose to say TMB/TMB/ATT

Moto G6 Play Jeter RETUS XT1922-9 Pie OTA Update

Does anyone have a link to the Pie OTA update file? I'm stuck on Oreo. I am rooted but want to unroot and go to pie. My bootloader also won't relock for some reason

There no point in relocking your bootloader. Starkiller uploaded the full ota. You need to reflash firmware and dont root it. My guide has the instructions for reflashing stock. After you do that put the ota file in the root of your sd card then go to settings, apps, and find Moto update services and allow it to have access to your sd card. Then go the update Moto software from settings
---------- Post added at 04:23 PM ---------- 3Previous post was at 04:18 PM ----------
But the ota starkiller uploaded is for the boost Mobile variant xt1922-7 not for xt1922-9 sorry I forgot about that. Do not use the ota I mentioned. Best you can do untill your pie update is uploaded on mirrors is either wait for the ota to hit your device then reflash stock firmware then take the pie ota or just wait. Either way you still need to be on unrooted stock firmware. relocking your bootloader does absolutely nothing anymore basically.
Wait, so if I get the XT1922-9 model (Best Buy/Target) I'll be stuck on Oreo? I guess that's the downside of not getting a carrier-locked phone.
Heres the link to the US Cellular Pie https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/jeter/official/USC/
No Pie on carrier-unlocked phone?

Can anyone confirm this as a fact? I bought an unlocked model XT1922-9 from Lenovo direct.
I actually want to remain on 8/Oreo because 9/Pie blocks call recording apps. :fingers-crossed:
If I got stuck on Pie, I'd have to root in order to get call recording back. I'd rather not bother!
if anyone is bummed Motorola is taking so long to update our unlocked g6 play/wanting updated vendor and stuff to run pie gsi's and looking to flash pie for unlocked retus jeter (xt1922-9,) just flash the USC version on lolinet. Everything I have tested so far works just fine, only thing I have not tested yet is sim(calling, text, data.) My IMEI is still being shown in settings so I'm guessing when I pop in my verizon sim everything will be fine but YMMV. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked first before flashing because the boot.img will give a bad key message but it works fine.

in about phone, software channel still says US retail even with the USC firmware.
Use the repair guide at the bottom of this post for the fastboot flashing instructions:

Maybe I should have phrased it better. Is Pie coming to this model at all? It seems like Pie is being reserved for carrier-branded phones, perhaps as incentive to get a carrier-branded phone instead of an unlocked non-carrier-branded phone. If that is not the case, is Motorola/Lenovo waiting till the last minute? Cause Android Q will be here in a few months (August).

Some of the other unlocked versions have gotten the update such as the x4. And the G6 Brazil so I don't see why not

How do I convert a Chinese OnePlus 7T Pro to EU or international?

I can't seem to find any OTAs to flash to convert the Chinese version of the 7T Pro to global or EU? Have OnePlus not released them yet? If any of you know how to do it, it'd be a great help.
Thanks!
Download OOS and flash it from Here
Thats an Indian firmware, anyone got access to the EU one as I'd like to go back that region. I flashed the current shared one thinking it was EU/International.

No it says device corrupted and won't boot. Reunlocking again allows it to boot again. I've been trying for hours to get it to lock and still boot.

What made the bootloader unlocked? The firmware I shared? I don't get it. Yes, that's the indian region and that's the only thing available one, would also love an EU/US one.

No I did the unlock, I used the firmware to fix the locking issue. It took me hours of messing but got it back to EU locked in the end. I can upload the EU one if anyone needs it as I have that now.

My issue was I unlocked, then changed my mind and relocked it, which left the phone unbootable, stating it was corrupt.
Well heres the Stock 1.0.0.3 Stock for EU devices. https://drive.google.com/open?id=171cVS9ku7rHF74Gyl1VGP3jQXAFwWDpl

Don't mind me asking, why did you unlock the bootloader in the first place? Custom ROMs? I have yet to receive my 7T CN ROM 256GB, but from what i understand all you need to do to flash OxygenOS over HydrogenOS is to go to your country's oneplus website(or any EU one), download latest ROM and then flash it via local update in phone settings, then factory reset. That's it, no messing with bootloader or other stuff. You now have an EU OP7T.
I was planning to root and then changed my mind.
Is there any difference between the India OxygenOS and the EU one? Im on the Indian after changing from the Chinese H2OS
