Why LG G5 not get fast charging - LG G5 Questions & Answers

My LG G5 seems not receiving fast charging.
0 - 100% is 2 hour.
0 - 50% is 1 hour.
The charging mA is only 1000.
Any one can help

Check your wallplug and the cable, if they support quick charge.

it is original seal out of the box. I read another post, fast charging 3.0 suppose receive 3000+ when battery below 40%. Please help

It should show a fast chargin notofication and you have to turn off the screen for the fast charge to kick in.

The stock charger only supports 2.0 if i remember correctly.

When the fast charge doesnt activate on screen off, you probably have an issue. Dont wanna guess what it is, as I may be wrong there

Issue? I bought it eBay and just use it within a week. And I didn't any chance to experience the fast charging even it does notify about it. I've download few battery apps and I found the power input is lower than my Nexus 5x.
Because of that, I've purchase Voxlink fast charging 3.0 to test it out but it definitely not the plug issue as i'm using original LG plug written "fast charging" on top of charger.

For fast charge to work well you shouldn't use the phone.
hmmm, maybe your charger is faulty, or the cable, or both haha.
My G3 charger stopped charging fast, I think it charges my phone to 100% after 6 hours!!

Mine charges fully in about an hour.. Make sure your screen is off while charging and plug it into a proper wall socket and check other sockets to make sure it's not replicated.. Also are you sure you got a legit charger.

My G5 H850 died after 3 months. I just got it back and they replaced the mainboard and battery under warranty. Now it wont quick charge with my original LG charger and cable OR my Anker Quick Charge 3 charger. It never says "Quick charging", it was fine before. Have they disabled it because of hardware issues?

I just got a "slow charging" notification. It was because my usb cable wasn't fully inserted on the charger end. Make sure your connections are complete and firm.

Mine simply says Charging now.. It used to say fast charging before and would charge very quickly. 2 factory resets, and a hard reset have not resolved the problem.

While testing out chargers, please note that mA is not a viable meter to see if it is working or not, and I think this is useful for everyone to know.
Back in the days you could just download app to show the mA. During the summer I ran testes on my own and did some research. While using QuickCharge, the phone is able to vary the incoming voltage to the amount the battery can intake, depending on the charge and state of battery. Thats why QuickCharge works faster, and the phone charges faster, while emptier. 30mins to reach 70%, 1h to 100% etc. Because of the constantly changing voltage, the ampere doesn't tell much. It intakes more V's than regular charger, but has to be sturdier to be able to intake it.
The formula for Watts(the "real power") is: 1 Watt = 1 Voltage * Ampere
This is the reason the sensors don't give you any valuable data, because we don't know the voltage. It requires tools.
But still, I'm sorry for your problem. I don't know whats causing it, or can help with it, just wanted to tell that for people buying 3A quickchargers wondering where all the mA's went

I am using G5, F700s .. Fast charging was working perfectly.. until update to Nougat update.. so you better check if you have updated your android, its definitely because of it.
I have experienced the same on two phones, first one was already updated to Nougat (November Security patch update). So never had been able to enjoy fast charging.
This new one was fast charging without any issue, even after first upgrade to nougat.. but after November Security patch was updated, it stopped working so I can say its definitely the update. Nothing else is wrong here, neither any cable or charger.
And how I am sure of it, because I updated my phone from MM to Nougat one after the other and was observing things. so Right after second upgrade, fast charging stopped.
Not only fast charging stopped, it starts discharging after 84% even if it is plugged in.. so I have to unplug and plug in again ..

Try blowing hard into the charging port and the cable and see if that helps any.

If software is updated then definitely android version issue and hopefully will be fixed in the next update. Hardware, charger, cables, dust.. i dont think has anything to do with it cuz I have experimented on two devices now. As mentioned in the comment above.

Well mate, My G5 (H850) is running nougat and fast charging is working just as it should
Half an hour -- 80%
An hour and 15 minutes -- 100%

You can look into battery settings, if there any option for enable fast charge like samsung.
I don't have the device, i just assuming it. Please make sure you connect your phone with charger before check battery settings.

Battery charging problem

Hi, I have a strange problem: sometime the phone stop charging (charging led also turn off) at 97%-99%. Disconnecting and reconnecting charger force the phone to charge fully. I'm using original z3 compact charger and cable (the same occurs with provided z5c charger: same 1500 mA model).
Model e5823, v 32.0.A.6.152 , Wind Italy branded model (the device is provided by operator, but with no customization at all...seem to be fully unbranded). Any suggestion?
Inviato dal mio SM-T700 utilizzando Tapatalk
That's not a problem IMO. Why do you feel a need to charge it to exactly 100%?

Cool. But "forcing" the phone to charge to 100% doesn't sound so good for the battery. It's better for the battery to just charge it to 95% and stop, and even better still if you stop at 90%, imo.

Isn't "forcing". Simply the 1.5 Ah charger seems doesn't provide enough power to fully charge battery in some case.
The Z5c simply doesn't charge with some chargers. For example, my Nissan Qashqai car has a USB plug for that, but the phone will not charge as the electrical current is not sufficient.

[Q] Quick Charge

So guys i got few questions about it.
Lg v10 has quick charging feature so i wanna know that how that works.
its works always, and any % ? or there is a certain point for it to work. im asking this bcus today i had 10% battery left and i plugged in its original charger with original cable which supporting quick charge. it was charging normally till 32%. i realized that and i plugged off charger and plugged back again it was still normal charging . then i again plugged of and closed phone and plugged it back when phone was off. it otomatically started phone and i entered my pin code. boom it started to quick charge
sso can some 1 explain me that quick charge?
Also that hifi dac works with bluetooth earbuds? like hbs910 - hbs 1100 or samsung level u pro ?( sorry my bad english )
Hmm... I'm under the impression quick charge only works with the screen off. Could that have played a part in this?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
My V10 also meets this issue. when your phone running out of battery at 0% lowest level, it is hard to activate the quick charger, i have to replug and unplug charger many times 10 times more to activate the charge process, the screen with phone and cable keep blinking and blinking...
But if your V10's battery still remain and you wanna charge, you just unplug and re-plug about 3 or 5 times, the quick-charge will activate. I have no idea if this relates to Software or Hardware issue.
SOLVED: my cable connecting my charger and phone is broken, change the cable, issue is solved!
Well I didn't think that I ll need quick charge since I was using z2 bcus I could have a full day no matter how much I use the phone. It was charging like in 3.5 hours. So I was charging it only when I go bed. But since v10's battery life isn't that good I realy need quick charge. I waited few months for bot buying first wave of v10 but still I bought first wave I guess. Let's hope it's software problem and get fixed soon

Well for me it works all the time. When i connect my original cable and charger i always get quick charge notification and it takes around 1 hour to fully charge the battery. I recommend though to leave the phone connected on charger for around 1 to 1.5 hour more if possible. This way the phone tops the battery charge fully getting additional around 200mA charge. You can install battery monitor widget from market and you will see that the phone continues to slowly charge after telling that battery is full. This stops when battery ot charged to the max.
0% to full takes 1 hour? that is rly nice since mine takes atleast 90 mins... even it says quick charging

how long does your elephone p9000 take to charge with fast charging

About 90 minutes
Weird Mine takes 1hr 50m from 0 to 100%
Only 30 mins but lasts for 3 days of constant use afterwards.
I'm also surprised by these different delay...
I'm not using a quick charger and I'm able to charge my P9000 phone in 2h00/2h15.
I was waiting for a 30/45 min complete charge from 0% to 100% with a Pump Express + Charger.
I tried my phone on 2 Pump Express (not +) charger with a probe linked on the USB power lines and an Oscilloscope and it never change the power supply voltage....
It always stay at 5V.
I was thinking the phone will manage the voltage to accelerate the charging process, but nothing happened.
So, to have a complete view of the problem, I've ordered an original Elephone Quick Charger, and I'll check if there's any change about this subject.
But from my point of view, the Pump Express System is not working at all on the P9000 with the Aerom V4 or Stock ROM 20160608.
If other people have the same issue, please share it here to identify if it's a general bug or limited to some devices only.
20160608 kernel hace messed up fast charging. To me in aerom3 it takes about 70 mins from 0 to 100%
Fast charging still slow
I havent charged from 0% but based on charging times so far I reckon 1.5hrs would definitely get to 100%.
I use an Anker faster charger and Anker usb cable.
Last phone got fried with Elephone cable.

download amps app and check current rating feed to your phone, fast charge > 2500 mA, if lower, try change your charger.

Try to charge below 50% from current battery level.my stock charger rating 5V 2.5A..can get around 2.2A reading from app.
Its starts slower then it gets faster , from 10% to 100 % in under 2h , so its working properly.

Don't worry its just a software issue I just flashed the miui 10 beta Rom and now everything is fine it shows the QC logo also

I just had a chance to check it, as I recently upgraded to 9.6.25. Well, no changes for me - there is QC icon next to the battery and Ampere shows current reaching 2900 mA.

You guys don't use the search function on the thread and just keep on making new threads about the same issue.
It has been well documented now that the charging slows due to thermal throttling. The hotter the phone the slower the charging. If anyone wants to test this, charge your phone for 5 mins before an air conditioner and measure the charging speed using the app called 'Amps'.
You should see the charging speed at around 2700-2800mah provided your phone temperature is quite low.
Otherwise, take a chilled watter bottle from your fridge and pour it generously on a towel. Now place your phone on that towel and charge you phone. As soon as the temperature starts falling to around 32-34 degree celsius, the charging speed will increase.
This is built in safety feature. The charging slows when the battery temperature is around 36-37 degree celsius as per my observations.
Cool you battery to around 30 degrees using any method you can and then check the charging speed.
Not your charger, not your cable...its mostly the charging algorithm with built in thermal thresholds which is at play here.
DO TELL ME YOUR TEST RESULTS.
I just found this thread - I have similar problem but it's rather not connected with temperature.
After one of software updates I discovered that quick charge is not working. Maybe it wasn't connected with update but this is how I see this.
I was waiting for software updates and hoping that they will fix my problem but nothing was changing.
Recently I decided that maybe factory reset will help, but unfortunately no.
After this reset I was checking many chargers and it appeared that with laptop charger (with USB C output) quick charge works! I was checking parameters in application 'ampere' and there is information that this charger is AC, and rest is USB. So it looks like QC works but....
Please help, how can I make quick charge works again via standard quick charge charger.

Iam in 11.0.5.0 global rom can any body confirm if its a rom issue or my specific issue
I want to clarify that my Poco on fully stock 11.05 charges as fast as any previous version of MIUI.
I take care of my battery. Charge till 80 and never let or go below 20.
If you can maintain the variables, and it still charges slow then you have issues with battery IC or the battery itself.
The highest I got without ceiling fan and without ac is 1590 mA. Maybe I got higher other times but I installed the app just for this post.
Don't rely on software reporting.
Do you have a multimeter?
Ambient temperature plays a HUGE role when it comes to battery, even if it's 1 degree more or less.

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Realme X2 Pro can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Quick isn't the word. It's amazing seeing how fast it charges.
Can it be charged with a 5 volt charger?
I think I have a problem with fast charging.
Yesterday while the phone was charging, electricity in my house was shutted down. When it came back, I can see than now, I charge 1 % on 35 seconds, instead of 20 sec before.
Could it have the battery damaged ? I doubt so, buty it's strange.
I tried when battery was 82%
Maybe it's quicker when battery is low ?
What's your thoughts about this situation ?
Thanks !
Edit : Okay, after 85% it slows down, but before it's okay

Yeah it slows down towards the end I'll go from 0-99 in 28-30 min then takes some time sometimes to get the last 1%. Battery life is also incredibly good.

Anyway, I have a little weird thing :
This battery monitor stats shows me different SOT than GSAMBatteryMonitor.
GSAM shows 2 hours more (wich I think wrong), and this delay grows while battery dercreases.
Do you have this app showing the same stats than colorOS battery monitor ?

I got my X2 Pro about 2 days ago. Charging speed is even better than advertised, as it takes less than 30 minutes to reach full charge. But phone usually gets too hot when fast charging. Do I experience this problem alone or do you guys too? Kinda worried about battery health in the long run if it gets too hot everytime I charge it.

Same thing here, so I don't charge more than 40 - 45% at a time.
If my battery is below 50%, I charge in 2 times with a 10 min pause.
Doing sop, you don't reach hoptter than 33 degrees instead of 38+
I can't seem to get a decent standard charging from 5V 2A chargers or Powerbanks, even a QC3 Powerbank only delivers 0,9-1A.
I only get about 900mA according to the Ampere-App. {On the contrary, I even get 1,8A from the original wall plug at 80% SoC).
Do you also struggle?

Same here. I used a 9V 2A charger, and it won't go more than 1100mA.
I wonder if this is a detection error from the apps. I think they don't consider the dual battery layout and only display half of the true value.
The error that the app "charger tester" shows let's me think this or does support my theory.
All apps seem to not be able to show the correct current flow because of the dual-batteries.
I found the engingeering mode and can confirm that the phone charges with 5V 2A on dumb chargers.
And also supports QC 18W with 9V 2A
As well as the Oneplus 20W Dash charger with 5V 4A.

Super VOOC (and also VOOC) have their own protocol of charging mechanism. It's not the same with other quick charge method like Quick Charge 3.0.
You will not have VOOC charging if you are not using right adapter and right cable. You try use Super VOOC charge with other USB cable, VOOC charging will not work.
So when you using other adapter or cable, you'll got standard 5V charging max 2A.
