and then it skips it, can anyone tell me how to fix this problem so i can start a fresh with a nice clean and empty galaxy
What system do you have? ics or ginbread...?
Question = wrong forum.

Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .

my apologies, i havent used the forum much as the phone has been fine for about 6 months, its now on checkroms v6 which i managed to flash onto it with a bit of fiddling, thinking that may solve some of my issues but it didnt. thats when i noticed this error when doing a few resets.
JJEgan, gonna follow your steps now buddy, thanks and fingers crossed
its a no go, it wont let me format or mount the sdcard
try factory reset from phone menu,
try another kernel to get another version of CWM, eg: Siyah
hiya zac, well i have the phone in download mode connected to odin, im using the link in your sig, and downloading the stock firmare and kernal, will it matter if i didnt wipe the sdcard before flashing these two items with odin? surely i can do it after?
upto you to try.....
cant guarantee since dont know what weird problem has got with your SD card which
dont allow you to wipe,
you can also try flashing another custom kernel first,
When you flash a stock firmware it already contains a Kernel, no need to flash seperately..
any chance to a quick link to a kernal to try and a guide!
its been a while since iv done this! haha
which rom are you currently on?? ICS or GB
checkrom v6 i do believe
GB CWM flash : http://gokhanmoral.desean.net/siyahkernel/v2.6/Siyah-v2.6.14-CWM.zip
Checkrom is GB version,
but makesure, from settings/about phone
i will bud, and i flash that kernal, with odin?
no this is CWM flashable, put on SDcard, and flash from CWM,
top man, off to have a go now
if CWM flash fails, you can try from ODIN
ODIN flash :http://gokhanmoral.desean.net/siyahkernel/v2.6/Siyah-v2.6.14.tar
select the file from PDA of Odin,

Unless you have a external sdcard, this problem is self explanatory!
I have Samsung galaxy Y handset. I just rooted it for trying new ROM. I installed the zip file of klerks and also the custom ROMs cyanocream v3 and paranoid. I switched the phone to recovery mode and clicked 'apply the custom rom' option. And since it wasn't showing the wiping and the other formatting option, I clicked 'reboot' option. And from then the phone isn't running, I see only the Samsung logo it shows on switching. I tried everything, the recovery mode is also not running, took the battery out but still same problem. Can you please crack this problem? I need my phone!
I dont own this device so Im not sure what's the process (although im familiar with the whole galaxy family), but I do wonder, did you install custom recovery (like CWM)? Did you make a backup before applying the ROM?
Can you still access the recovery mode? Whenever i mess up an installation, i usually search for an stock rom and flash it via the external SD card.
Perhaps this might come helpful

i am still not able to run the custom rom.
I rooted my phone.
Opened up the CWM v5, and wiped-data,cache partition, format data, format cache, mounted all drives,---
went into advance to wipe dalvik cache and the other data.
Installed the custom rom by opening the zip file through install zip from sd.
I installed the custom rom (tried all, jellybean, cyanocream v3, paranoid, icecream).....
BUT EACH TIME EITHER IT STOPED WITH Samsung Galaxy Y logo screen OR at logo of cyanocream (when installing cyanocream).
SO I HAD TO FLASH MY PHONE EACH TIME WITH STOCK ROAM THROUGH ODIN. Then it works on its standard android.
I tried many times. Checked all steps. Checked all videoes.
I CANT MAKE OUT WHERE AM I MAKING MISTAKE EXACTLY ?????? Can any one please tell me the most accurate and effective correct method to do this successfully?

I don't own this phone too but my mother has . Did you flash the kernel for custom rom such as 'white xp kernel' for cynocream before flashing the rom? You can download it from the same post you download the rom and you can backup your stock rom in cwm so if anything happen you can boot to cwm and restore it back.

Try this if you are using CM based roms.
Go to CWM. Wipe data, wipe cache, go to mounts and storage mount all (except SD card) install kernel zip(not ROM zip, use kernel zip) go to advanced NEVER WIPE DALVIK CACHE AND BATTERY STATS WHEN INSTALLING ROM, reboot recocery, you will get mounting error. Ignore it. format all (except SD card). Install rom zip reboot. I have used this many times and no fail yet.
I own this device and if you have any problem feel free to ask.
If you want instructions for any ROM, reply here with Rom's link.
Sent from my GT-S5360 Gadget of Mass Destruction using xda-app
Using CWM........Busybox Commands........No I use my hands
i did a CWM wipe/data factory reset then flashed echoes and the modem and kernel
but i have only 2gb free out of 11gb (showing on my pc)
where is the rest?? what can i do?
p.s i flashed I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXAGMK6_BTU first but was getting "emergency calls only"
so i then wipe/factory reset in CWM and flashed S3 Echoe Rom v.5.2
i cant see any files that are taking up that much GB
is there a better rom i can upgrade too? or its on android 4.3

I would use Root Explorer to check whats happening inside ( lost space ) or adequate tool with root access to see hidden files and dirs.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en
Basically can be used any better explorer with root access.
After seeing this I would do decission what to do next. ( Step by step )
About New ROM and Kernel I would be thinking after learning what happened inside my phone after flashing.

were you coming from an earlier Android version? if yes, read the guide in general section, it explains why, how to get back your space etc. as partition layout was changed. here you go, in the "Information" section.
Hi all,
first of all this is very blunder i have done in installing a custom rom . i will desribe what i have done .
1. unlocked boot loader - was ok
2. rooted phone and installed twp - ok
3.- installed custom ROM bliss pop and during reboot it was stuck at boot logo of the ROM. after that i booted phone again in to recovery and tried to wipe catch and data again . during data wiping process i also lost my ROM installation file and now on my device there is nothing left in storage . no custom rom, no stock ROM . now i am confused .
device boots in to recovery and boot loader but accidentally i wiped all storage so now i don't know what to do?
is there any solution?
should i go to moto customer care center and get ROM installed ?
i am so confused . please help me out :crying::crying:
Nothing to worry about.
I think, you have wiped both internal and external storage.
Just go to TWRP recovery, connect device to computer via USB, enable mount USB storage in TWRP and copy TWRP backup or any ROM to internal or external storage and flash.
Or you can copy TWRP backup or ROM files on memory card and flash.
thanks a ton buddy. it worked and now my phone works perfectly fine :good:
Hello, I was trying to install pixel experience on my Redmi Note 7 (lavender) but when it came time to wipe the stuff that I was required to wipe I chose all the boxes like an idiot. Now I can boot to recovery (I have orange fox) but when I install a rom it shows that it succeeds but it isnt actually installed. When I connected the phone to my pc I noticed that I have 49.2 free memory out of 49.8 in the internal storage.
I have reinstalled orange fox
I have used the "adb sideload" method to install a rom but it doesnt actually install it
Any help is appreciated

For anyone in the future looking for a solution for the same problem
I did these 2 things that appear to have fixed it:
Installed the official Xiaomi ROM for my phone
Installed the ROM that I wanted using orange fox AFTER having moved the zip file in the internal storage (the adb sideload method although it appeared to work fine it didn't actually do anything)
