OK guys ive found some features that remix os must have but doesnt:
1-Share it : So ive tried using share it and what i saw made me wonder the screen went black and didnt fix until i restarted it after that i tried again and saw that it doesnt work at a ll and i cant transfer files between an android phone and remix Os.
2-bluetooth : well this one didnt work too as i said above it wont find my huawei g8 phone and no phones around.
3-Multiple Keyboard Language And Shifting between them : so guys you know that you can change your keyboards language just with pressing
ALT and SHIFT together but in remix os we can only type english and no way to change it.
4-Google services : so what you feel its empty space is google play services. you want to
know how it can help? so you wont be able to use google applications like google play games, gmail, google play, and so on.
As a compassionate User i ask the developer team to add these simple but very necessary features to Remix Os.
WISH YOU LUCK Ariel.
I just started using RemixOS for PC (love it so far!) and I don't have any issues with Google Services? You have to install them separately (instructions on Jide site), but they work fine...

there a lot more important things:
ability to select video output
ability to select sound inputs and outputs
ability to select resolution and size on screen.
need more wifi support
need more video support...
I only need screen recording to work, and a brightness slider in notification center
Bluetooth works fine for me, though my desktop appears as a phone in the bluetooth devices list on my phone (Doogee X5 Pro, running vanilla AOSP 6.0).
It does take some time for the prompt to appear though, and you're limited in what file types you can recieve.
And I can type in other languages with my physical keyboard, however I have to change it from the settings window since it doesn't appear in the applet.
Check this for "Multiple Keyboard Language And Shifting between them"

Screen recording I can't see them bothering with (a base update to MM would add it by default).
Brightness slider is already there; you just need to disable box mode (or create/pin a shortcut to the SystemUI/brightness activity).
Edit based on 402: Seems to be a reveral of the above - Screen recording is reported to have been added [haven't tested] and the brightness slider is missing/removed [ro.remixos.box=false]

That's kind of a problem, since I dont think stable MM update for android x86 is coming soon and for Remix to update their base to MM would take even more time
And how can I disable box mode? my laptop cant change brightness with fn key even in ubuntu, but it can easily be fix with a slight modification in grub
I cant see how to do it in Remix

Which GPU are you using? It still has few issues. google play services continuously crash on intel Gen8+ GPUs,which is not fixed yet. And porting to mesa 12.0 is currently going on. Once Android-86 is done with mesa porting and fixing issues,Jide can migrate to Marshmallow.

I'm using Lenovo ThinkPad Twist 3347 with Intel integrated graphics. Strangely it had Google Play Services crashes at the beginning but now no crashes at all. I installed new update of Google Play.

My initial suggestion is to add a scroll bar. When the mouse is used a scroll bar should be shown on the active window. Clicking and dragging is not intuitive when using a mouse.
How about 3g dongle modem support??
Having resolution under display settings would be Hella helpful. =) I realise this is alpha so i'm not complaining.

1. Map long press to right click.
2. Badge for notification icon, animated network indicator(to show whether wifi is active etc).

Unfortunately the apps, build.prop edits, settings (display + accessibility) all haven't worked yet. EDIT: Surface Pro 3
And yeah it's really cool, awesome OS, best Android x86 version I've ever used! Love it! Can't wait for portrait to work etc I wish I knew how to debug and fix this stuff too.

Well, dont worry. The devs will release something nice from their kitchen soon.
Just thought of one.
Similar to Windows and pressing F8 to enter safe mode, repair mode, etc, I would like to see a press F8 to enter into an android recovery where we could wipe partitions, flash zips, preform and restore backups, etc. The recovery could even be built from the TWRP base to support touch.

Remix OS 2.0.100 - 2016012301
1. Gamepad not fully supported / have bugs, some keys worked in system but doesnt work in games.
2. Need a screen brightness slider desperately, screen brightness is 100% by default, currently using some 3rd party app in Play Store as a workaround.
3. Storage size seems to be limited to 4gb due to FAT32 format and UEFI doesn't boot NTFS drive.
4. Memory cleanup gauge indicator not sync with real time usage (EDIT:Added screenshot)
5. Some fn keys do not work (screen brightness, keyboard backlit, touchpad switch)
6. Mouse right click should act as long press
7. Microsoft Excel / Word doesn't run due to processor compatibility
Nonetheless, this is really an amazing piece of OS despite of its alpha state. Im really looking forward to this OS

Asus G551 - Windows 10 64bit UEFI - Remix OS installed in HD

1) Use "Sixaxis Enabler" for ps3 controller support.
2 & 5 ) My "FN" functions work just fine.
3) Fat32 has 4098MB limit and hence there is no workaround for fat32. Use ext4 instead.
4) The RAM indicator seems to be dynamic. More RAM heavy games I play, the more the RAM increases.
6) Are you kidding me? "Remix OS is a android os made for pc". How do you think it will compensate for the right click feature?
7) I ran all microsoft apps with no problem. It must be your rig's gtx840. Nvidia cards mess up remix.

Windows creates and boots from the system reserved partition for recovery modes. RemixOS could do the same. It isn't that complicated.

Recovery wont work. Its not possible. The way remix boots using x86 android kernel is different android bootloader works on phones. Thats why it wont ever work. Go read it on x86 android forums. It has been discussed heavily there. Since, remix os is based on that project, chances of recovery are slim.
However, you can activate a command line recovery using ALT+F1.

3) Is your system UEFI? Does UEFI boot EXT4 format drive?
4) Are you talking about the small indicator icon on the taskbar or the popped up window when you pressed the icon?
6) IMO the long press pop out menu replace by right click is right click done right. I'd love to see this replacing long press action in browser in the future.
7) I think I've found the problem, now the Excel and Word run fine. Might not be Nvidia GPU related.

OK, that makes more sense. A traditional recovery wouldn't work then but that still leaves the possibility for someone to build one from scratch. Maybe someday...
***UPDATE*** I was able to install Google Play Store. However, still need to know how to change the screen resolution to make icons / text bigger. Also, how do I enable touchscreen? Trying to play Pinball Arcade -- speed is awesome but can only use keyboard. Doesn't the Surface Book touchscreen work???
Hello,
Running Remix OS successfully on my Surface Book via USB. Several questions: How the heck do I change the screen resolution? Everything is soooooo small that I can barely see / read it. I changed the font to HUGE which made no difference. The screen resolution of the Surface Book must not be compatible to Remix OS. Also, I couldn't find the Google Play store, where is it hiding? Or, is there a way to install it?
Thanks for any help you can provide. I really want to use this, but it is useless on my Surface Book if the icons / text are so small it is unreadable. Also, need the Play Store, or what's the point.
Cheers

'Gaming toolkit' app doesn't show up even when i enable key mapping from settings.
It only show up if i enable app from root terminal. (pm command doesn't work in termux too)
and if i want to disable it,it needs me to use terminal again. The switch at Settings doesn't work for me at all.

Yes, i was trying to run games in the full screen mode, but it does not help - i do not see anywhere gaming toolkit - it is not popping up and keymapping is turned on in experimental tools. I have installed the latest version of Remix OS 32-b on my Toshiba Laptop. I was trying many games, but there is no gaming toolkit when i play:
Dragon Slayer
Blood & Gloory
Beast Quest
Frontline Commando WW2
Traffic Rider
Please consider upating ur gaming tolkit as it is not initiating while the game is being played.Additionally make a separate link or forum to submit to report the keymapping techniques.
Instead of mapping individual game please add emulator style keymapping controls so that different users could map the shortcuts ccording to their own needs.

Hi there,
I'm new to XDA so I apologize if I am posting this on the incorrect forum.
I have Oppo F1 Plus (in some region it is know as R9) rooted and running on Color OS V3.0.0i Android 5.1 lollipop.
Using the code qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 (which pre-existed in the buildprop) I enabled myself the onscreen buttons.
Using root browser I turned off my recent and back hardware buttons and 'keyboard backlight controller' app to turnoff the backlight.
However, the onscreen buttons' opacity is way too low. I would assume around 15-20%. I tried using various apps like 'navbar app' and 'softkeyz' but both failed me.
Is there anyway to increase the opacity of the onscreen buttons to max using buildprop or root browser or any other method?
Thank you.
Im sorry to say but there isnt.
By default the On screen button should completely be opaque completely.
Try Downloading any theme for theme engine if possible.

Oppo has a pretty close OS and there is little to none development for this device.
I really want to change the notification panel and onscreen button color. but none of the apps are working.
I think the root cause for your problem is the Color OS
Due to high modding , The Framework has been completely modified and because of the fact you dont need a on screen button , they must have left it as it is.
So to fix this , you have two options:
i)Mod Stock rom by yourself
This is a difficult to do process because you have to deodex your stock rom and then you have to decompile and recompile your framework-res.apk
ii)Try Cyanogen 12.1
Cyanogen is an Open Source Android OS which is the most used Custom Rom.
Cyanogen is Completely debloated and provides you high customization
http://community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=50132
Cheers
Thanks for replying,
you are right about the framework, since my onscreen buttons do not recognize landscape mode and keyboard.
I know about custom roms, however with this build of cm12.1, I would to lose my sim calling capabilities. I guess next time I will buy a phone after researching on its support in XDA.
Thanks!

And yeah , Avoid Mediatek as much as you can.
They dont provide source codes and it is because of that there is no Dev for Mediatek.
Cheers
The tablet received a major update the day before yesterday. It was 4.0 GB in size, bumped Android version from 11 to 12. Otherwise there were almost no good changes.
Changes I noticed:
Android Version 11 > 12
like on the phones no dark mode settings for individual apps
Material You support (but also like on phones no settings)
Security patch to October 2022
Launcher:
appicons change their positions during the update
grid is no longer adjustable & changes automatically (!) after display rotation (4x6, 6x4), therefore the icons also move
there is a large margin to the left and to the right, both orientations
many app names must be abbreviated with "..."
the new widgets are finally here, BUT this restricts all other widgets in size & position (There may be gaps that are large enough but can only be filled with apps)
Notifications and Control Center:
background Blur for notifications and quick settings: "simple-blur" > "real-glass-blur"
the notifications are displayed in a smaller space in landscape (like phone in portrait)
thus also more abbreviations than before
the control center has been updated and now looks more like (a fake of) iOS
One thing is striking: some things that were previously adapted to the display size are now more optimized for phones. This can be seen from the fact that, for example, the notifications are only in the middle of the screen and look more like a "portrait on landscape". As a result, the content no longer fits in completely and is abbreviated to "..." for most notifications. Something similar can also be observed in the launcher: The icons always have a large distance to the edge, they are so close together that the app names have to be abbreviated with "...".
Would it be possible that the base of the ROM was changed to that of the phones? I don't know how to check that, but I think in this case it would be possible to release the xiaomi.eu ROM for the tablet.
So don't update yet right? My Pro wifi version still stuck on 13.0.10.
I would ditch MIUI altogether if you're on the Elish (WiFi only) model.
I'm using Arrow OS (A12) and this is just 100x more smooth than the stock MIUI ROMs.
It BAFFLES me that this is the case.... team that makes the device should be able to optimise it as much as possible, yet some random built ROM from source is far superior. Sheer incompetence....
There's a Telegram group if anyone is interested.

I would say it's a matter of getting used to it. After a few weeks I no longer noticed the disadvantages. On the contrary, I'm happy about (the reintroduced) real glass blur and Material You support (especially Gboard).
The fact that the app icons in the launcher always switch between 6x4 and 4x6 (screenshot attached) is also the case with the new 12.5 tablet. If you want a pen/keyboard and up-to-date security patches, there is no way around it.
Unfortunately, I discovered something else (Does not have to be related to the update): if you leave Firefox, just to answer a message, for example, everything is reloaded. Means when I read an article I end up at the beginning, when I pause at a film I'm back at the beginning, if I want to add a photo to this post I need 5+ tries because the page will refresh in the time of choosing... Unfortunately, adding a lock to the app in the app overview does not change anything.

Hi friend,
I'm just wondering if you're able to use desktop mode or anything similar with Arrow OS. A big feature I'm looking to use with the wifi tablet is desktop mode (connect keyboard and mouse)

There's a bug in that the on screen keyboard doesn't come up by default... So I plugged in a usb c hub with keyboard and mouse. All worked great.

Regular tablet mode, but I would expect that means your hardware should work as you expect. End of the day, you could easily flash back to stock.
