How do i change the quality of JPEGS from 90% to 100% - LG G5 Questions & Answers

As the title suggest, i have used 2 different programs and both of them show JPEG quality set at 90% but i cant see a way of increasing to 100%?
Any suggestions really appreciated.

Add to build.prop:
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
Used to work.but didnt test on lg g5

The needed lines for the LG Cam and others are on the Media_Profiles.xml under system/etc. 6 Lines at all...
Cheers

Hmm. Didnt look closely but setting the value in buildprop increases image filesize by 2-4mb so seems to be working. When i have some spare time ill do some tests

If you need help doing this then i just downloaded root browser give it root acess. Then go to system folder there should be a file named build prop. Open the document and add the lines
on the side note does anyone know how to capture pictures in png in stock lg camera because the only app i know that can capture in png is using fv lite camera.

[MOD] Modded stock CAMERA apk For Better Image Quality-(6MP 16:9 opt added!)

Update: I have modded somemadcaaant camera apk and added it below
Update 09/05/12 - 6mp 16:9 added like you requested
Post feedback!
Hi all,
I'm new to android and development and this is my first modded apk
After great thread on ray forum I tried to dig and try different settings.
this is my final version of the apk, I don't think that the quality can be improved any more without modifying camera lib files.
*In this version you will get more camera MP options:5MP 4:3,6MP 16:9
*All the bitmaps changed to ARGB_8888 for better quality.
*Tried to enable inPreferQualityOverSpeed and inDither to the bitmap
Enjoy!

Hi all
I made some mod to the stockcamera apk to get better image quality of Ray and ARC.
can you upload framework-res and SemcGenericUxpRes and the stock SemcCameraUI and I will mod it?
If your SemcCameraUI is the same as arcs ics you can try it here:

You can just grab it from the 2.3.7 Xperia S firmwares or roms in the dev section
It's better to do that before starting a thread in themes & apps, requests need to be done in general
Hope your mod will be good

cant you use the arc ics camera?
I think that the ics camera APK is supporting all xperia line, in the setting it has the recommended setting for 12mp camera, 8mp camera,5mp camera
can someone try and report?
Cool, check my signature for the files and edit what you like. If I've read your thread correctly I've already made those value changes?
You should also be able to use my apk on your arc

I can see the 5mp setting thats cool, i've tested photos and they come out in correct resolution. I think the images are a little larger, did you add any of your other mods?

Yes, really I wish I could select 16:9 also for 5 and 12 MPX, I really hate 4:3 on a 16:9 screen
I can add 6mp as 16/9, what do you say?
oh yes, 6mpx sounds good.
btw, I cannot install the apk. I'm not rooted, is it needed?

Yes root needed!
and I found out that you can install the apk without reboot,
1)stop camera service and clear data at apk manger
2)copy the modded apk to "root" folder and apply permissions
3)cut the apk from "root" folder and go to system/app
4)locate the old semcameraUI and delete it
5)past the modded apk
and walla! the apk installed
it works for me- you try it on your risk!
Thanks for your work.
Do this mod improve the JPEG file compression (increasing file size)?
Does it have any improvements in color balance, white/shadow levels or anything like that?
It'd be nice to have this info in the first post... because as far as I can understand you ported the features included in the mod from somemadcaaant but they are not described here... And then you added the possibility to have 5 and 6MP image size.
Just a small feedback.
Thank you for your work!

thank you for your feedback,
I posted the link describing this mod at the arc thread ("for more info about the mod click here!"), and I modded the somemadcaaant coz it already improved over stock apk.
the jpeg size not really increased coz it already at 100%
and I tried fv-5 apk that can save photos at PNG format (17MB for 8mp pic) and no improvement in quality (photoshop 800% zoom)
the quality and details only can be changed in camera drivers (post processing)

YOU ARE IN XPERIA S FORUM!
go to my thread in signature and there you find arcs version (ICS or GB)
Yep working very well with the new 5mp and 6mp options, thanks for your work!
We still need to raise the image quality some how, i dislike how the software blurrs the image when zoomed in with so much colour noise added on, doesn't make sense for a 12mp sensor and seems to be inconsistent with results.
Hopefully ICS will have a fix, the ArcS ICS i read somewhere on the XDA forum fixed image compression.
PNG image size is incredible from what you say, would it be better saving the image as a pure bmp instead? I don't think most of us would be worried about image size if it meant better images over all

also the dev at the g+ page is very helpful and does reply to all sort of queries.
Bluish tint and low quality
Sadly there is a bluish(sometimes greenish) tint and that is not light but too much. Any way to capture raw with normal colours? Also the quality is even lower than the jpegs captured with stock camera app.

can you post your settings?
also you should post the dng files on G+ page where the developer can take a look at it
I dont need the dngs.
The green is because of the missing colormatrix. But it can easy fix with awb tool in ps and rawtherapee or every other app wich can read dngs.
It would be usefull when the thread starter update it and make his knowledge for all users avail.
Its not good to point all problems to me.
I get bored when answering 20 times the same question and user get stupid answers or im just ignore them.
Its not my problem when people dont know how to process the taken raws. The quality can be worse when you dont know it.
Im thinking about to remove rawsupport in freedcam for all devices wich use the neutral matrix... Then its limited to g2/g3/m9 devices.

the preview is in dark conditons always a bit noise. for raw capture use iso 100 in all light conditions. it reduce the noise heavy. the exposure can later increased when its to dark.
also turning off wavlet-denoise can decrase the noise

We don't have a powerful camera like one+one and the raw output is expected to be noisy as no noise reduction algorithm is used.
Although FreeDcam has options for noise reduction and what not, i would rather do that in an external software. this is the reason why we are capturing in raw right?
With RAW you will get much more lighting information and thus edit should be much better.
Also try to use manual control available like adjusting ISO etc. Google should be your friend. Enjoy!

with that you can lock the camera ae routine. that means you can point into the sun lock the exposure and the cam does not change it until it gets released.
it can be used to trick the camera shutter time.
as sample when you want to have a longer exposure time at night. aim with the cam to a dark point or lay it to the ground and lock the exposure. then point to the scene you want to shoot.
the same trick can be done for a faster shutter speed. for that lock the expo into a light (sun or simliar)

Question about RAW Shooting with 5.1.1 Update

Hi Folks,
since the Update to 5.1.1 today (925F) I have the option to check RAW Shooting in Camera FV-5. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to save RAW Images at all, at least I can't find them on my device?
So still no RAW Support on 5.1.1 and the FV-5 Settings is just buggy? Or am I doing something wrong?

I'm also using Camera FV-5, but raw support is working fine here! Saved the DNG files in the appropriate folder.
You aren't trying to see them with a gallery app right? They need to be edited in photoshop or something first.

manual shutter speed just can 0.5 second open shutter in s6 edge ??
for lg g4 open shutter 30 second!!!
right???
If you go to "my files" you'll see the dng files in camera fv-5 folder. I haven't imported them to lightroom yet so I don't know how good the files are just yet. And sadly, slowest shutter speed is 0.5 seconds. Good enough to brighten a scene but not long enough for light trails or flowing water. I like the control I get with fv-5 but I feel like it doesn't focus well. My pictures look less sharp then native camera. I'm now trying snap camera hdr and that app also uses camera api 2 but you gotta enable it in settings. That app also focuses better.
hi..
camera fv5 install in s6 edge .
manual shutter speed is 0.5 second.....
In futures increase second shatter speed in galaxy s6 or just .05 second ???

Improvements for the camera

Hi guys, the camera of this smartphone has a lot of potential but it is accompanied by an application and an software bad optimized.
The video lost frequently the focus.
I myself have noticed some small improvements by just changing applications.
is there any fix or some rom the camera system, ( especially during the video ) ?

Yes, the software and application are pretty bad.
And corner softness to the left and to the right is very present.
I modified the media_profiles.xml file to improve image quality of video.

We hope they update the firmware and help resolve this issue soon. The phone has great hardware but the firmware is just crappy at the moment. Hopefully they can sort out some of these issues. And I would have preferred to have and option to turn on or off the drop down notification bar, not to be stuck with the left button trigger..if so annoying when you are used to basically most android phone have that notification drop down style.

works for me
I'm on stock rom 016s and I can shoot RAW with Open Camera in .dng format.
Just modify the build.prop as described in the thread "[TESTING] Camera 2 api", select the option for raw in Open Camera. For build.prop editing you need to be rooted.
The RAW files are about 41mb in size but strangely I cannot edit them with Snapseed. Will investigate on this.
Edit: works with RAW Decoder

I did all that mentioned, Manual Camera Compatibility app said it does support RAW now however, Camera FV-5 and Manual Camera itself do not work. The options are greyed out and the .dng that it created is not viewable in lightroom mobile. I did managed to get one but it does not look anything like 21mp at all! The pictures were all washed out. I just updated to cuoco92's latest 17s rom.

Question Gcam?

Anyone have input for the "best" Google camera port/mod? I'm using
Arnova's 6.2.030 v2.2: Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.2.190716.1800-Final.apk because it's the newest one I've tried so far that doesn't take green pictures. Looking for other experiences.
I have found that green pictures come out anytime you do not use Google AWB. I tried using Nikita's version of 7.4 and had decent results. Even took pictures using all 3 cams individually which was interesting. Still not great, but definitely better than stock.
Disregard, mine are green as well.

I also tried Nkita's 7.4 Gcam mod, and it blows the stock camera out of the water after a bit of tweaking in the settings. I've attached the config that I use, and you can apply it by following this guide. It's not perfect, but it doesn't take green pictures, and it enables the auxiliary cameras.

From that link:
NGCam_7.4.104-v2.0_eng.apk (com.google.android.GoogleCameraEng) #
NGCam_7.4.104-v2.0_snap.apk (org.codeaurora.snapcam) #
NGCam_7.4.104-v2.0_cam.apk (com.ngcam.camera) #
NGCam_7.4.104-v2.0_samsung.apk (com.samsung.android.scan3d) #
Which one of these APKs do I need for the N200?
Also, is this still the "best" camera option for the N200?

I used the "snap" variant personally, but I see no reason why the "cam" variant wouldn't work either.
As for which one is the "best" camera option for the N200, I don't know. While NGCam's photos are still far better than the photos from the stock camera in my opinion, and it also supports the macro lens, there's a subtle pink tint in the final photos, and it seems to drain the battery quite a bit. Maybe it's the best camera option right now, but that could change in the future if newer and more optimized cameras for this phone come out.

OK, tried the snap variant.
I can't figure out how to apply that config file, but I don't think I have to.
All I did was turn 'Google AWB' on (whatever that is) in the settings, leaving everything else as default, and the colors in my pictures seem spot on.
*edit- figured out the config file thing. I can see the very subtle pink tinge you mentioned (which wasn't there before applying the config, but it didn't let me choose between camera lenses before the config, so...). I see all kinds of color-related things in the config file, but don't actually know what in the config is safe to edit to try fixing it, lol.
Now if this was fine tuning a ReShade setting for a PC game...
We usually need to use the "snap" or "snapcam" package for phones where OnePlus doesn't restrict access to the auxiliary cameras (wide, macro, zoom, etc). It's the second apk on both of download pages for the versions linked above.
GCams with other package names often can only access the main rear / front camera.
