Its really annoying and time consuming when we have to flash KITKAT ROM over LOLLIPOP / MARSHMALLOW / NOUGAT or vice versa. Some time ago, another xda member @rahulsnair, made the small sized (~1MB) zips, after flashing which you can directly flash L/M/N ROMs over KK or KK ROMs over L/M/N. What these ZiPs contained were essentially the updated modem files from the different firmwares. Unfortunately that was for A6000 1GB RAM version only. So, I replaced the files in that zip and modified it for A6000 plus. Using these would save you from the trouble of downloading over 1GB of stock ROM and flashing it first and ofcourse will save your precious time too.
All the credits goes to @rahulsnair only. I just replaced the files.
●●●HOW TO USE●●●
1) First boot into TWRP or any other recovery you have and wipe system, data, cache, dalvik.
2) Now flash the required zip. (e.g. if you want to move from Kitkat to Lollipop or Marshmallow or Nougat, flash KK2L zip)
3) Then flash the ROM you wanted.

Well, technically, the L2KK zip should work for you. First wipe system, data, dalvik, cache and then flash this zip. Later, you can flash the KK ROM.
Are you talking about stock lollipop to kitkat or cyanogen mod. Coz there is a cm file inside that zip

Yeah....that made me think too....its weird right..!!??
But, the same has earlier worked for Lenovo A6000 (check the tagged post in OP). So, I just replaced the .mbn files (of which I have no idea what they are for) with the ones from Lenovo A6000 plus. So, it should work for A6000 plus users. But, since I didn't tried that on my own, so I'm not 100% sure. Well, I'll really appreciate if you'll provide a feedback later.
And, "L" here represents all the Lollipop based ROMs (and Marshmallow too), MIUI, CM, MOKEE and others; and not just stock Lollipop.

I've personally checked both the L2KK and KK2L zips. Both of them works.
Steps to How To Use:-
1) First wipe cache, dalvik, data, system and then flash the L2KK zip.
2) Then reboot to recovery again.
3) Now again wipe the cache, dalvik, data, system
4) Now, flash the KitKat based ROM zip of your choice.

Yeah you can flash any kitkat based rom (stock too) after that.
But, to flash stock, you don't actually need to flash this L2KK zip. The files in the zip are actually taken from the stock ROM only.
So, you should directly flash the stock KitKat without flashing this mod.

Link has been updated for the Modified TWRP. Now installing 2nd rom is breeze. External SD card is now supported..Works in E-973 Canadian Edition
Yipee..
How many of you like the Stock Rom from LG? I know..It is most of you. Me too. But the fact is I am also unable to live w/o the KITKAT! This has resulted numerous times of installing roms, losing important call logs/messages, and a lot of weird things that I dislike! These days are past, and I now use MultiROM to taste every new flavour I like!! I don't have to back up and restore the factory rom now!
I am sharing it to you too. Please let me know if you encounter any bugs.
Statutory Warning: It is your phone. Do not blame me for anything. I am not responsible for any harm you do to your device.
Thanks to all who are linked with MultiROM!
Now the detailed steps:
1. Install TWRP-2.6.3.0_For_KitKat
2. Backup your rom(in my case it is the stock one) with TWRP.
3. Install Carbon Rom as the primary rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52327519&postcount=217) I have not tried with other roms. But this rom comes with a kernel with kexec hardboot patch.
DU also works! Thanks to @Buscador
4. Install TWRP_2.7.0_MR_geeb
5. Now Install multirom_v22_UNOFFICIAL_geeb
6. Now Install any rom you like as your secondary rom. Reboot in Recovery --> Advanced -> MultiROM to install your rom. You can also select the backup that you performed in step 2.
The updated TWRP version supports ext SDCard. That means you can select the zip from SD card. Installing secondary rom in the extSD is not supported because of the slowness. In recovery go to Mount --> check external_sd to mount the externalSD card. Can any of you let me know if usb otg works in this recovery?
Working perfectly for E-973 Canadian version. Thanks to @Aceangel21 for confirming.:good:

I installed Carbon as the internal ROM and then Mokee. I can boot to the internal ROM just fine but with Mokee I just get a brief flash of light every few seconds, and it never boots.
Edit: I reinstalled Mokee using the "Don't share" option for the kernel, and it booted. I have not been using it long enough to determine if it is stable.

That's great. We should not be sharing kernel. You can multiboot n number of roms literally. It seems I am moving to a stable stage with this. I will also be uploading the TWRP now with working sdcard support! Enjoy!

You can now try firefox OS via multirom! It boots up. Camera is not working as of now. While installing, select the option "Share Kernel" in multirom. Download the latest FFOS build from Nexus 4 forum. Change the updater script to suit with geeb.

Worked for me. I flashed a factory image of kitkat, then factory reset, then flashed twrp recovery, and then flashed this zip with the gapps for lollipop hosted by cyanogen.
Got root by flashing supersu's modded kernel and then supersu update zip.
All apps were automatically backed up after boot, but there is one strange thing:
Google play keeps telling me Google plus is incompatible. Is this something wrong with the Rom? Or lollipop? Or something else??

Just updated drivers really. There currently aren't any lollipop binaries that are available. Unless you can pull them from the current preview. However, you can use the preview binaries or the 4.4.4 ones until the new ones drop. I used the preview ones, but haven't been able to flash it yet.

Thanks for the rom!
At the moment we have rather dfficult situation because custom ROMs based on AOSP (such as my AD which is not yet public) require previous OOS LP firmware, while OOS 3.0 includes new MM firmware which breaks both older recoveries and custom ROMs.
As I need to switch between OOS 3.0 and my AD quite frequently, I created two helpful flashable zips so I can do that easily, and because it's useful for me, perhaps it'll be useful for you too.
Download: MM | LP
Instructions:
- Download the firmware you want (or both, if you want easy switching)
- Unpack downloaded zip, you'll find firmware-update.zip and recovery.img inside
- Put both of those files on your phone, in appropriately named directory such as "firmware-LP" or "firmware-MM"
- When you will need to do a switch, simply firstly flash firmware-update.zip, then flash recovery.img as recovery image via "flash image" option in TWRP
- Reboot to load new firmware
That's it, this way you firstly flash chosen firmware version, and then TWRP recovery that works with it.
So if you have two TWRP backups - one of OOS 3.0 and one of CM13.0, make sure that you have proper firmware (and recovery) after restoring backup - LP for CM13.0, and MM for OOS 3.0.
Situation should soon improve (when OnePlus pushes kernel sources, and MM-based ROMs will rebase), but until then it's wise to keep both of those firmware + recovery combos on your sd card, so you can do a switch without any problem on as-needed basis.
Hope it helps. Try to be careful with those, if you mix up wrong recovery with wrong firmware you'll need to flash proper recovery.img variant via fastboot. You can't hard brick anything by using those files, in worst case soft-brick if both your recovery and your ROM will be for wrong firmware you have.
Have fun.

Finally, we are having CM11 at the normal level. We (andreya108 and myself) were working very hard on CM11 and this the outcome. This is the joint work by both of us so please thank andreya108. There are lot of unknown issues to be tested and fixed but the most disastrous bugs are not present anymore. E.g. uncontrolled processor, reboots, battery drain, unstable GPS etc. From here onwards, we can discuss the issues arisen from long-term use of firmware since before this nobody had used this for daily. We do not claim that this is the complete version hence please do not flood the thread. If you have an issue send a personal message. At this moment, it is only for CN layout. This is just a beginning……
Thank you

Hello,
S226 is ROW version ROM. This cm ROM is for CN layout. First You have to flash CN based ROM using flashtool after that only flash this ROM using twrp recovery.

Select and download CN based.
This firmware has TWRP included.
After flash boot at least once.
After first boot reboot to recovery from reboot menu, wipe and install C.M.
Good Luck.

Please backup ur IMEI number. Also note that once ur on CM version and u restore ur IMEI, u will have to follow a process to hard write the IMEI number back to ur phone. Else every time u do a factory reset, it will erase the IMEI

Hi @stympy, thank you for your help. I flashed CM11-B2 successfully yesterday and so far everything seems to be good. I do have one question, however. The MIUI ROM you linked me to apparently disables internal phone memory and moves everything to external SD. Can you please link me to a FlashTool flashable CN based ROM that doesn't do this? Thank you!
@bauuuuu. I downloaded CM11-B2.4 from 4PDA yesterday. Can you please update the first post? Thank you!

Link. One of the best firmware. Unfortunately this one has no TWRP. You can install TWRP by using my tutorial fromQ&A section/Rooting tutorial for kitkat.

Im using J500H stock,non rooted.

So which ROMs are working with j500H? You're on stock as stated above. Are these devices rooted and with twrp? If rooted and with custom recovery tried modding boot.img?

What a pity! If you"re not afraid you could try Vaserbanix tutorial to change kernel. I don't have PC right now, so I try this and could test every nougat ROM without downgrading, of course you will have some issues but worked for me and its better to stand waiting for devs work. Learned a lot with this and hope you will find useful too. ???☺

After that I began to learn how to use osmosis wonderful tools.
