GPS Problem - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hello!
I have a Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 and my gps doesn't work.My phone can't connect to any satellite. He can know my location only with my internet and that run slow and very inaccurate.I tried to repair my phone with Xperia Companion and I tried to reset cached GPS data and install A-GPS but that didn't worked too.My build number is 26.1.A.3.111.I need GPS for my maps and other apps.
Can someone help me with this problem?Sorry for my bad english.

My GPS didn't work and i ended up having to send my for repair. Since I purchased the phone pretty recently, i got it free under warrenty

Try the .167 firmware, i'm using that version because its working better with gps

Do you use some cover on the phone? Like aluminum bumper, plastic, or other? I had the same prolem. Because I was using an aluminum casing with a cover of plastic and blocked the GPS signal, and has weakened the wifi signal. Firmware 3.111. I bought the glass on the front and the back. Problem solved Unless, the gps is demaged.

How can I downgrade from .111 to .167?

It is running WM6 in those pics
i heard when using the case it will kill a battery due do the metel making the phone need to wkr harder for signal.. any noticible differance for it?
i was lookin at this, ended up geting the clear plastic shell case but still looking at others
How did u upgrade to WM6?? Does it void the warranty? Can any PPC with WM5 be upgraded?? Can it be upgraded to the forthcoming WM6.1?
(Sorry to sound like a supper-n00b)

No. It doesnt result in poor battery. Also, there is no difference for the device in catching the signals. I always got full signals with/without the case.

Upgrading does voids the warrenty if your device is other than HTC HERALD. This is because official WM6 upgrades were never out for the non-heralds. Yes, it can be upgraded to WM6.1

You are probably thinking of the Faraday's cage type effect (the reason cell phones don't work in elevators), since the case is pretty much wide open on the front it doesn't cause any issues.
For the clear plastic does it cover the screen? That's the achilles heal of this unit for sure; one bad bump and it's cracked
yea well i had heard from some one it did kill signal, but could be bad phone or what not bad location...
the clear armor case doesnt coverthe screen..
i like it but eh i will prob order the armor case this weekend from daydeal...
That case is ugly, what the hell r u doing that you need a metal phone...lol
FYI My armor case almose lost the pins holding the hinges together the other day...I've only had it for a month or two, get the cheaper one for sure, it's all junk!

1. it feels safer when it is pocket.
2. No need to worry about the screen getting the smashes when it is in the pocket
3. it looks GEEKIER

I agree.
I use a Metal Case since my second display. The first one was completely crushed in a brand leather case....
Metal cases...
Can't disagree that the boxwave metal case really protects the device, and preserved the features, buttons, etc. Unfortunately it also protects it from receiving radio signals!
I scrapped mine after discovering that the Bluetooth range went from about 30 feet to about 5 feet, and lost an average of about 1 bar of GSM signal strength just about everywhere I went. I also noticed that travelling in some more fringe areas, the phone would be MUCH more likely to drop signal completely. Along with this drawback came increased battery usage because the GSM and Bluetooth radios had to draw more juice to stay hooked up.
A nearly solid metal case covering a RF tranceiver device with no external antenna, the end result is pretty obvious.
If you spend most of your time in a good signal strength area and always keep the phone and Bluetooth headset near each other, then you may never witness the effects. For my part, as soon as I ditched the metal case, problem went away with no other changes.
I have to agree on the case. Yes it's great Armour for the phone..but it kills your reception. If i'm on a call via BT with my phone clipped on, all I get is fuzz in the background..same if I went further then 5 feet. I lost both pins..thankfully I bought the cheaper one.

Back panel loose/lifting and flaps loose

Anyone else having physical problems with their Z2?
As of a few weeks ago, I've started noticing that the top right corner of the back panel of my Z2 popping up slightly (like 2mm to 3mm) several times a day and I would have to press it back down. The cover on the USB/SIM area will also mysteriously be open sometimes when I fish the phone out of my pocket even though it does still feel quite firmly closed once I put the cover back in place.
I went down to my local Sony service centre and they said that they will rectify the issues for me and might replace the "loose" flap too (also told me to avoid water since it's not waterproof with the back like that) - but it would take 7 working days and that I should call their helpline to check if there was any issue for me sending my set in as it has an unlocked BL.
Seems like the original Z had the same problem with the back cover - http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/08/0...ose-back-panels-water-resistance-compromised/ and the loose flaps issue isn't new either (but the rubber seals on mine look perfect).
Flash a stock kernel and relock your bootloader, few people actualy check these days for DRM keys however they do check rarely for your bootloader status
And your physical problems are totaly abnormal so try very hard to get a replacement

for the flap problem, easy easy fix. Get some silicone grease at your hardware store or wherever. Take a lil and moisturise the flaps' rubber, works like a charm. Seems like the seal just dries out.

I just tried it and it seems to make the flap come loose more easily. Looking at the flap, it seems to pop open because of insufficient friction between the seals and the socket for the flap...

I just applied this - http://www.wd40specialist.com/products/silicone-lubricant/) - thinly using a q-tip. No worries. Wasn't too expensive and it could be closed again once I cleaned it off. Tried a slightest touch of hair gel (I was desperate...LOL) and that didn't work too well either.
I guess I'll just try to relock the BL and feign ignorance and send it in for "hardware faults" even though the bored sounding helpdesk lady on the phone said that the warranty is voided.

Genuinely quite disappointed with the niggling faults that the phone has. Random freezes and self-reboots and WIFI issues on my Z2 and my dad's Z1 is making me lose confidence in Sony to deliver a solid all-round device. It's a really beautiful phone with a wonderful camera but compared to build quality and software stability my previous HTC M7 (converted to a GPE ROM) which was essentially bulletproof and could have months and months of uptime without a reboot...ugh.

It seems like it too because my USB flap isnt neccisarily lose, it seems to sit deeper in the frame, it isnt flush with the rest of the frame or like my SDCard Slot

For me, the flaps are good, and the back panel on the edges doesn't seem to pop up or to be misaligned with the edge, but on a light press on a few places it feels like the back panel is loose, and you can hear a small "tactile" feedback when pressed.
Should i get it checked or is it just a little hollow on these few places? For me that's the spot a little to the left and bottom of the SONY logo on the back, in height of the volume rocker.

me too... but imho it isn't a problem...
I kinda semi-fixed the loose flaps by cleaning off the accumulated dust around the edges of the seal and the covered area...doesn't seem to fall out as often now.

I've received my new USB flap and the issue is fixed, the new flap is not loose. It was not due to the phone body as I feared but a premature wear of the flap...
Anyway, I don't recommend to open the flap but in exceptional circumstances. Transferring files wireless and charging phone with magnetic port should be the rule and recommended by Sony.

To be honest, it's just the hassle of having to wait a week (and having to go back to my HTC M7) or so for them to get it fixed. Plus my set might not be accepted by them as the BL is unlocked (towelroot came too late for me unfortunately )
I do intend to send it in for repairs (also dinged the flap a little, might as well get that swapped out too) some time soon as the loose back is really REALLY bugging me.
My god I have the same problem. Everytime I pull it out of my pocket the flap is out. Damn this phone was perfect . I cleaned soo ****ing well and the USB flap stays in more time but its still poping out.

[Q] Any back glass DIY replacement and phone still waterproof?

Dropped z2 yday ;/ it was one of my frenchies who jumped on me, phone fall first on screen, than on back glass and finaly landed in dogs water bowl. took it out right away, screen ok, back glass broken and no visible sign of any water entered.
I want to replace the broken glass deck, but to make it so that phone will still be wateproof.. Anyone have any experiance with that? If so, where did you order back glass and did it come with adhesive coating ..?
Thanks for all answers!

I got mine off of eBay. You need the back glass and new adhesive.
Phone won't be as waterproof anymore, but I've dipped my phone in the sink fora few seconds without harm.

Does this come with adhesive and would you know how if we can retain nfc? I heard changing the back you lose NFC...
Thanks.
It comes with adhesive. But nfc antenna must be unglued from the old back glass. To do that you have to heat up the glass very well so it won't break or torn off.
Heat up the old glass i mean.
hey guys , did anyone succeeded to buy original back glass , and after that phone is again waterproof ? cos some people told me that doesnt matter what back cover i buy even with adhesive , the phone wont be waterproof , only sony can repair it for waterproof again. is that true ?
No man
There are adhesive on the back of glass dont mention about it
You could either buy the plate AND the adhesive thingy (comes separately). Or go my way (slightly risky).
The stock glass plate keeps breaking so I took the measurements and made an Aluminium plate. Then drilled camera holes into it and painted it. Then came the tricky part. I stuck the plate into place using regular epoxy (waterproof) adhesive. You have to be very careful while doing the last part because of obvious reasons tho.
The problem with the adhesive thingy that you get to buy (And also the one that Sony uses in the device) is that although its water proof, it isn't heat resistant. and as we all know how Sony phones heat, the adhesive comes off.

This is very creative and I sure as hell would like to try my hand at it. How thick was the aluminum?
I bet your phone becomes hot as an iron when gaming haha, which is good for your internals because of better heat dissipation. Any adverse effects on mobile reception? wifi? bluetooth? guess NFC is gone haha

Well, I given my z2 to friend to replace battery and few days ago I left my phone in silk for 10 minutes, because it was dirty and no issue here.
@MindfreakBS
What are NFC and Cell reception like since installing the aluminium back plate?
Any deterioration in signal strength / call quality / WiFi / Bluetooth?

Aluminium is a millimetre thick. It does get hot, yeah.
Mobile reception is same (Maybe a tad bit lower, idk), wifi bluetooth work fine. NFC still intact. I fixed it onto the plate in position.
@rubiicon59 that should answer your question too
I was planning to post a tutorial. Haven't been able to take out enough time though.

What if I want to use a 2-mm thick acrylic as my black plate? Is it possible? Because I am afraid that it will exceed the metal frame of the phone and it will ended up looking terrible:crying:
I agree, I think 1.0mm would be more suitable.
At 2mm, you might get an M4 Aqua kind of look hahaha

I believe that if the broken glass was the only issue, and you use a original replacement part, or decent adhesive tape to glue them back together, you'll have no problem. I've had the same issue few weeks ago, replaced the screen and the phone didn't experienced any problem when submerged.
Do anyone now where can I get an official or a good quality back glass for my xperia z2, I broke the original one but i don't want to replace with one without any quality.
buy a nice "glue" to fix that..

[Q] Problems with the Flip cover. Need help

Fingerprint reader damaged surface replacement?

Received an almost pristine S9+ to find the fingerprint reader has a chip in the centre of the pad.
Anyone managed to replace just the surface with one from another sensor ??
Is it definitely chip? Mine after some time developed some cracks/scratches. I scratched it off completely and this was some kind of protective layer. I replaced this with sellotape. Still working fine. Of course I need to replace sellotape from time to time.

Its the purple top layer, chipped off in the centre. Replacement sensor on its way, wondering if painted or glued on layer....

That's a very interesting idea lol. The paint/protective layer of mine started to peel off and it was failing to read my finger way too often.
I removed all of it and it did improve the accuracy, however I do notice that it gets hand moisture easier and it requires me to clean it often
I'll try a piece of transparent tape, see if that helps xD
