I am very confused, purchased a refurb s5, it has been rooted and therefore i want to put a clean stock rom on it, however i am getting mixed signals. phone is labelled g900f on the sticker and about phone, however i think this is fake, so the seller could sell it as a British model, I went in to recovery, the boot-loader stated it was a g900t. Also in the settings / about / there is a section referring to The united Emirates, which i have not ever seen before. I do believe it is a real s5 though as it has a snapdragon processor. Also the Imei number and serial number match the sticker, however i have a feeling this was somehow done by the seller, or who ever is supplying the seller who sold it to me. Other than that phone is working fine. Also for some reason in the Ringtone section there are some built in AT&T ringtones.
can someone try to make sense of this, and tell me which exact Official ROM i would need to use.
if i reflash to a clean g900t marshmallow, what is the likelyhood it will corrupt the imei , network unlock status or anything like that, also will a g900t rom work fine in the Uk, i read on xda the g900t rom contains alot of branding and junk, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks
It seems to be the G900F, which is the European variant.

Hey,
I got an S3 with my (Dutch) T-Mobile contract today, but I'm kind of wondering which model it is. The system info shows GT-i9300 and it has an Exynos 4 CPU, according to an app called Z - DeviceTest. Judging by this it seems to be the International model, but what's getting me to doubt is the T-Mobile boot animation on it and the fact that when I search for the EAN code on Google I keep seeing it with the T-Mobile logo close to it.
This situation is new to me, I've never had to deal with different models, so I'm hoping someone can tell me which model it is. I've been looking around, but found nothing concrete. I don't want to brick it by flashing the wrong firmware.
While I'm at it anyway; If it's the international model, how can I get rid of all the branding?
Thanks in advance!
Go into Settings, scroll all the way down and select About device. 3rd or so line it says Model number, that would be what your model is. Doubtful its a GT-I9300, but IF it is, you some how got super lucky. Another way to know if its international right away is if the battery door just says SAMSUNG and nothing else, no carrier branding.

That's a "yes" to both. GT-i9300 and no external branding, just the damn boot animation. A locked bootloader, perhaps?
Cdjones, I don't know what you mean by "IF it is you're lucky" and "its doubtful it is a gt-i9300"
He's in Europe, its the international version guaranteed. (I say guaranteed since the i9305 hasn't been released yet)
@OP: The T-Mobile boot animation is just that, a T-Mobile boot animation. Nothing more, nothing less.
no you don't have a locked bootloader either.
You have a T-Mobile branded GT-i9300 with an unlocked bootloader, like all GT-i9300's

Ah, that's great to know. Now I can start flashing already.
Thanks for the input, both of you.
Hey guys, I bought this S4 off Craigslist, and when I was looking at the build number it said that it had MDM_LLK
I was wondering what build it is since it's neither a MDK or a ME7
I looked all over but couldn't find an answer
That is a peculiar one, I can't find anything on it either.
Only thing I can find that is remotely close (but only because it has the letters MDM in the build number) is the Galaxy S4 I9505 international version...
Just out of curiosity what does the sticker under the battery say the phone is exactly (model, etc)?
the sku is SCHI545KDU which apparently runs a version of firmware that's only for display model
when you search google for it, it gives you a result of an ebay listing stating so
the thing is
I rooted this using motochopper, and installed twrp through goomanager
and it all worked... which made me wonder if this is a dev edition phone
the guy i bought it from said he didn't know since he got it from craigslist too
I checked Samsung's site... If I read it correctly, the sku for the developer edition is something like SCH-I545ZKDVZW. So I doubt that a working display phone would be the same as a developer phone, it would make no sense for them to do that. IMHO it would be a bit excessive to use a developer phone just show what the phone can do (for the most part).
So how much of the display phone actually is functional? Can you actually use it on the network at all? Is there anything that isn't working at all?
Lastly is it legal for a display phone to be sold to end users? I mean it doesn't seem right in some sense that a working display phone for the still being sold Galaxy S4 being sold to end users? Maybe it is legal or legit to do but I do hope you didn't get screwed over by this sale.
When I check the ESN it let's me activate the phone from the Verizon website
Yeah I don't know... It's weird
Hi. I haven't been able to find anything on this topic. I have an N7105 Galaxy Note II that I bought from an AT&T customer. The only problem is that I am using it on TMobile. (It is officially unlocked from AT&T, etc.) The problem now comes in upgrading to 4.3. TMobile uses Kies, but Kies only wants to upgrade me to 4.1.2, which I am already on (build JZO54K.1317UCAMH3). AT&T only updates OTA. When I check for OTA update it says it is checking AT&T's servers, but I am not so sure as it never finds anything. I think it is checking TMobile servers which aren't set up for OTA or don't recognize my phone type.
Also, I went into Best Buy to the Samsung rep, and they flashed my phone with their program and put a wonderful new version of 4.1.2 over my old one (nothing changed).
I am looking for solutions that will work for my phone to get 4.3, where I can get Galaxy Gear support, the photosphere camera, spen, etc.
My first question is, if I can find a TMOBILE Rom, will it work on my AT&T Note II (similar phone, but not the same? I have the N7105). (I would like TMobile goodies on there instead of AT&T. Any custom ROMs support that?)
Second, does the AT&T build (if I can find one) work with Gear well and does the photosphere camera work well? The Samsung rep said AT&T did not work with gear well presently on Note II and I read somewhere else where the camera was not working.
Any custom ROMS I should look at that would work on my phone and get me GEAR, SPEN, PHOTOSPHERE etc? I can't seem to find that.
Any suggestions or directions I should look would well be appreciated. Thank you!
David

N7105 "officially unlocked" by AT&T? LOL, funny...you SURE its a 7105? If it is, then you still have to wait, as they havent released 4.3 for North America yet as far as i know...well they did but then pulled it right away.
if you want all that extra samsung stuff to work you need to go with a touchwiz based 4.3 custom rom. It hasnt been released yet,so ergo, its not available for developers to make a custom rom out of it (stateside anyway)
sounds like keis is working fine, bc the 7105 is the UNLOCKED LTE North American version VERSION, the 7100 is the international version without LTE, and they are diffrent.
and you actually WANT T-MOBILE bloat ware? put this in the googler " Tmobile applications apk. good luck with that bc no one ever want to bundle "branded APKs" but then you say "instead of AT&Ts, are you implying that its already on there? and you went to Best Buy? they put it on a machine?
your best bet is to just sell that thing and buy a note 3 outright, doesnt sound like you need try and flash/root stuff.

Thanks. I was just so tired of using an AT&T phone on TMobile, I thought some of the related programs might be nice, but I see your point. They do have the upgrade for AT&T now, but I am told it is sucking battery life something fierce. Per your suggestion, I am looking for a good Note 3. Thanks!
i bought a us unlocked s9+ new on ebay from what i think is a reputable seller. i'm having troubles with the fingerprint scanner out of the box, and i know s9/s9+ has a history of that early this year. i'm trying to verify software revisions, etc, and came across this info i can't explain.
per this website, the software version listed on the box (G965USQU1ARB7), is only for the initial rollout of the sprint version, and is for oreo. my label says the os version was 9.0 from the factory. is this possible? or is there some other file revision that dictates this?
i chatted with samsung, giving them all of the id's, and they didn't seem to grasp why i was concerned, telling me this device was "ok to update to pie...."
The box appeared new and sealed. IMEI and blacklist checks ok. also it did an OTA update with no sim card yet installed. i really like this phone, but trying to figure if i got something i didn't bargain for.
got some more info (post updating)... is there some reason there's so much "VZW" slathered on an unlocked U1? this is all with no sim card ever installed... i gotta say, everything is awesome on this phone except the FPS doesn't work, still throws the error just hitting the settings icon. they have offered to replace it, and i'm just trying to decide if all this info looks legit to replace of if i should ask for a refund.

Nope S9 or S9+ didn't have any fingerprint scanner issues since launch. Claim refund or warranty

It might be a hardware issue, but if they are offering to replace it then just go for the replacement. If the replacement is faulty then I would get your money back.
As for why it says VZW and etc if you didn't buy the phone brand new then it may have had a Verizon card installed it before you got it. It may have originally been a Verizon phone, the product code in your post indicates this is what the phone was. If the IMEI number matches what is on the box then it is an unlocked phone (G965U1) and it probly had carrier firmware flashed onto it more then likely. If this is the case it's probably the same as what I did with my phone. Originally a Sprint model, I got it network unlocked, flashed G965U1 firmware and then flashed tmobile firmware. This way I have full access and the highest compatability with all Tmobile services.
Honestly it's all speculation at this point, but if they are offering a replacement then I would suggest going with that anyways for peace of mind on this specific concern.
If the phone is not blocked/blacklisted, not financed (as in paid off fully if it was) and is network unlocked then what ever compatable sim card you install the phone will reconfigure itself accordingly.

Thanks, The phone was sold as new, and appeared so (shrink-wrapped and seemingly untouched), which is why i thought it strange for U1 to have verizon nomenclature on it(not on the exterior, just in that getprop dump). I think I'm going to try one more time. Seems very functional otherwise
Hi everyone. It's been a minute since I've been here. I currently have a T-Mobile Note 3 rooted with a custom ROM (yikes...I know) that I only use for work since it's pretty freaking tough. I also have a T-mobile Note 4 that I use for when I'm not at work...also rooted with a custom ROM. Both are still going with not apparent issues but obviously they are becoming obsolete. I would like to "upgrade " to a Note 8 (T-Mobile) which eventually I'll be back here to see what great minds have accomplished for it, but as I'm looking online for purchase I get hit with different model numbers when searching for it. I doubt SM-N950T is a legit one but I see phones on sale with that description. I know for a fact the "true" model number from Samsung is SM-N950UZKATMB. Now I mostly see SM-N950U (or U1) for sale. Is that the correct (short version) of the model number for the T-Mobile version or is like the title says? If not then what is the correct one... and lets say if I do get a SM-N950U what would be the limitations of using it with T-Mobile? Difference between U and U1? Sorry I searched but I feel I would get the best answer here. Thank you very much for everyone's time!

U = Carrier branded full of bloatware whether it's AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile it doesn't matter the phone will select the correct carrier based on the sim card you put in there.. U1 = No carrier bloatware.. The N950U and U1 are not exactly made for roms and mods and such because the bootloader cannot be unlocked in neither version.. If you have T-Mobile and you want to root and do roms and mods your best bet is to get the international N950F version since the bootloader can be unlocked but I suggest if you go this route that you do a lot of research and reading and don't do what others keep doing like deleting their /efs folder and not having the original backup thereby screwing themselves and making the phone a paperweight! Just do your research and you'll be fine!

Thank you for the reply! So the U versions are gonna be the same headaches as my daughters S7E. I read that the Exynos and Snapdragon are fairly even and since I don't really use my phones for gaming then I should be good with the Exynos version. Questions though since I've never had an international model...do they allow use of T-Mobile wifi calling or do they limit any (usable) feature that you would get with the U version (besides useless bloatware)? Again, thank you.

They're the same old headaches both the U and U1 and your last questions I don't know since I don't have T-Mobile but I would assume that with root access you can do anything you want but I wouldn't count on wifi calling working unless you have their bloatware versions..
